I know it's kinda a silly question to ask, and it's making me feel like a child again, but I'm interested. What is love? I know what love feels like, but I can't seem to get it into words. When I was about 16, I was crushing real hard on this girl. I tended to usually get to date the people I wanted to, so it was a little different when she took a different approach. I did my usual thing, giving on poetry from Shakespeare's time, my own compositions as well as some real sappy Romeo and Juliet. I was really getting on a roll, and asked her out for about the 5th time, and she answered "When you tell me what love is, from your heart, not your flashy poetry, then I'll be happy to go on a date with you." I never managed to answer her. She went out with me on a pity date after several attempts to put that feeling into words. And now, 7 years later, I'm thinking about it again. Can anybody put love into words for me?

Love isn't that giddy feeling you get sometimes. That feeling of intense tickling and happiness and excitement and all that jazz. That happens to me when I think of something really creative or awesome for a speech or song that I'm writing. It can happen when you finally work up the courage to ask them to go together with you and they say yes.
But love... Love is something different. Love is long lasting, indefinite, incessant. Love doesn't require reason, logic, or rationale. Love is when you can still look at a person with the same adoring eyes you did years ago. Love is your mind being filled with anxious thoughts about what the object of your desire really meant when he or she said this or that. Love is when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams...

You are the apple...
I'm going to assume you're talking about romantic love, so here it is:
Love can't be put into mere words. It is a feeling displayed through both conscious and unconscious actions.
This is the problem with the concept of love today; everyone tries to define it and always fail to fully do so. In turn, the idea of what romantic love is has become so muddled that it's near impossible to find the EXACT definition of romantic love. So act on what you feel. Actions speak louder than words.
and I am your core.

All I need is one star in the sky...Love is different for everyone. There's no specific meaning. True love is also different for everyone.
I'd say that I'm truly in love with my current boyfriend. He's almost as amazing as my ex. (which I refuse to get into details about why he is gone.) Also, a person's meaning of love can change. I was also EXTREMELY truly in love with my ex. And I know he felt the same about me. (Again, I refuse to tell why he's gone.) I'm not as in love with my current boyfriend as i was with my ex, but that's cause they're both different, and I never (nor will i ever) got over my ex.. But I still call my relationship with my current boyfriend true love...
Back to he point: I believe as long as a person can honestly say "I love you" without a doubt, then it's real. And for the people who only love for the looks, they're never REALLY in love... they only want your body.. :3 ...Wish for you every night.

Love is a perspective and, as with all other perspectives, is completely subjective. Why ask someone else their opinion on something when there is no right or wrong answer?

And I have a question! What is love? What is love? Oh, oh oh oh-oh-oh Is it giving up? Well cause that's not how you raised me, yeah.
NSN <3 sorry i had to too. smile well, I think it could be loving someone no matter what they do, and no matter how they are... And wishing they were happy no matter what. Even if it's with someone else? I've heard that from friends! biggrin

love is just that love. it is something that every one has a different definition for. there is no way to explain how u feel when u are in love, that's why they they came up with a word for it. its like trying to describe the color blue, u can name things that are blue, that make u think of blue, but the only true way to describe it is simply blue

Sure, love is adoring another. It's a bit more than a good feeling though. You accept everything the person is no matter what the circumstances, love them for the good and bad. There will be hard times to love another even when you feel you shouldn't, but in the end you do and will. The most beautiful things of love is loving them when it's hardest to love. (It's illogical yes)
The only true thing is that love is a commitment.

Love is a mixture of chemicals in the brain that tell your body, your very cells. that the person you "love" would be good to make children with, because they have good genes. Also stated, love is simply a mixture of Lust, Attachment,, Intimacy, Commitment, and Passion.
Hmm... I wonder if that sounded a bit cynical?

No way I love that definition XD It's slightly true in a way! Atleast when your looking for the person to love. You want their genes in your children someday lol. The intimicay, commitment and attachment may be a bit illogical (But hey butterfly fish and penguins mate for life, just an odd example in which I realize I'm not proving anything with this example)
