Gods above and below, she was finally free!! Vesyana had tried her best to be a good daughter, but from the moment her eyes had opened to the world all she wanted was freedom! Freedom from the heavy restrictions of the pride, freedom from her horde of bossy but well meaning siblings, free from the smothering affection of her parents...At the last thought she winced knowing it was a step too far even to herself. Hadn't her parents fought long and hard to be there for their children through heartache and pain? She knew the troubling story that they didn't share with their offspring, how they (the cubs) nearly had not come into being. A simple choice, and their father would have never dared to try and come find his first beloved...but he had and now it was there turn to dare the world.
Unlike many of her siblings, Ves had been up at first light, unable to sleep another moment. Saying good-bye to her horde of sibs had been easy, but not so easy to say good-bye to her father. Many tears on both side had been shed before she broke away to kiss her mother. Deep in all three of their hearts they knew she would never be coming home again. She was too much of a rebel to fit into the quiet life in the swamps.
Ves shook her head to clear her thoughts before stretching, taking a deep breath of the afternoon. For the first time in her life, the air wasn't thick with the stench of the swamps, for that reason alone she cherished it. Grinning to herself, she jumped down from her napping spot to head to the river.
Paying attention only to the soothing thoughts of the crisp water, free of mud or scum, the young female didn't notice the warning signs that said she was not alone. An angry snort drew her up short as she lifted her head to come face to face with a rather large, rather pissed looking water buffalo with a tiny wobbly limbed calf at its side. Ves's eyes widened in horror as she realized she was about to be pounded into bits by the protective momma.

Dez'i had been spending his day wandering around. He had a good time with his training. He's always wanted to be a warrior, more and more every day he could feel he was closer to it. Everyday he was closer to it and he was proud of himself. He was able to take care of his mother and take care of Ceyx. Even though Ceyx was a rather large and already protective male himself he knew if something happened he could take over. Which was comforting to him. He still couldn't hear the best unless some one was close to him but he didn't care he could take on everything.
He wandered toward the river he had been wandering this way for a while. He liked this river, it was one of his favorite, he really loved hanging out by this lake and it was nice. He flowed down for a moment and approached slowly before realizing what he was seeing. There was a large water buffalo a baby and a lioness. At this point he knew it wasn't good. He watched the three look at each other he was curious of what to think about it. As he processed it he realized that it wasn't a good thing not good at all.
He crept down and moved quickly to the side making sure that the large creature couldn't see him. He was going to startle it. He moved closer and closer before he left out with a loud roar. He quickly moved inbetween the female and the water buffalo and snarled, baring his teeth and swiping at the water buffalo. Although the creature was bigger than him there was one thing for sure he was also a rather large male and he could easily take him down. He swiped few times and watched as the buffalo started to creep back slowly.

Ves could only watch in stunned silence as the large male appeared, roaring at the beat threatening her. Rather than feel a sense of relief that she had been saved, the young female felt anger bubbling up in her chest. HOW dare he?! Who did he think he was?! It wasn't like she needed him to come save her! Dark ears began to lay back as she puffed her chest up.
When he turned to check on the 'damsel' he had saved, he would be met by a sputtering ball of righteous indignation. "Who asked you to butt in?! I had it handled just -fine- by myself!" Violet eyes glared at him as her dark ringed tail lashed the air.
"What is it with you males anyway?! Always have to be showing a girl up! Oh you so much tougher than me, so much bigger, so much stronger..ooo should I drool now?" It was true he was a good deal larger than her in height, but then Ves had taken after her mother in build. Short and broad, with thick powerful legs, she could very likely have taken out the mother buffalo alone had she been able to get the proper angle.

Dez'i looked at the lioness a little confused at what she was talking about. She wasn't doing anything other then standing there in front of an angry water buffalo! He had seen some attacked by water buffalo before and he knew that it didn't end up that great. He bit his lip as the lioness yelled at him. She kind of reminded him of of Ka. Although Ka wasn't his mother she raised him more then his real mother had. It was very odd to see another lioness like her. That mother taught him to never get angry with a lioness it wasn't a good thing to do. So he kept his mouth shut, until she stopped.
"I'm sorry miss, but you were just standing there and it was about to attack." He shook his head. "I understand that you are mad at me but it wasn't safe." He commented simply. He knew that she was in danger he didn't want to see it go wrong. He flicked his hair out of his eyes and looked at the lioness he wasn't that sure of what else to do. He didn't like her angry at him that was for sure. He paused and he shook his head. He was a little stuck not sure of what to say. "I don't like to show off ma'am." He then paused for a moment before speaking again. "However ma'am I do admit that I'm pretty sure that you were in danger."
He was a very polite male, he didn't like to make anyone feel uncomfortable and he really didn't like anyone mad at him. He was hoping that she would calm down.

He has almost escaped the danger then he had to tack on the last bit. Ves's eyes with wide then narrowed as she growled under her breath, tail lashing the air behind her. "Excuse me?! I was -not- in any danger till you butted in where you weren't needed mister!"
Who did this big male think he was anyway?! Pft! Her in danger, yeah right. "I will have you know I had the whole thing under control! I was just waiting for the right time to spring, but nooo you had to show off! Men!" With that she snorted, turning her back to him to stomp towards the river muttering under her breath about stupid egotistical males.

Dez'i shook his head, he really couldn't believe the female was she really doing that? He just helped her and then she was getting mad at him. Now at this point he was starting to get annoyed. He basically saved her! She would be nothing if it wasn't for him. He held his breath as she yelled at him once more and then when she started to storm off he really couldn't help it anymore. He promised his mother he would never really get that annoyed at a female but at the moment she had him going. His mother would understand.
He ran forward before holding his breath and springing over her. He didn't land in front of her but off to her side and he quickly twisted himself around to be in front of her before he growled very lightly at her. "My mom always told me to be polite to females but you aren't exactly being polite yourself miss." He grumbled before pausing and shaking his head. He stood up straight he wasn't about to let her just storm away or not. "Weather or not I saved your life it's at least nice for you to acknowledged it." He liked being a warrior but people like her made him a little angry.

"And my mother always taught me it's not nice to lie. I am not going to acknowledge you saved me, when you didn't." If she could have crossed her arms over her chest she would have at this point. "Look if you want to be some kind of insane hero like my brothers fine. That's all well and good, but you really should check to see if the damsel actually -needs- saving first."
Boy this guy just didn't get it? She didn't ask him to show up, she didn't need his help and now he wanted her to thank him for something she didn't even need to start with?
"Look...whatever your name is, not everyone -needs- a hero to come busting in and saving them. Some of us damsels," she drawled the word heaping with the scorn, "can save ourselves just fine. I don't need a male."

Dez'i growled his head in annoyance, this girl was just so generally stubborn it really pissed him off more then anything else. He couldn't believe it. Was she really giving him this much of a hard time. "i don't have to be a hero. I was walking and found you." He shook his head and then growled again. She was seriously bent on this wasn't she? He dug his claws in the ground as he stared at her.
"Idon't care if you are a guy or a girl." He shook his head once more before speaking out loud to her again. "If something is wrong I'm going to jump in. thats all to it Im sorry you don't like it. I'd rather just im and see that some one almost got in trouble instead of got in trouble." He told her sharply before speaking quickly. "You really are obviously not used to the rogue lands. There aren't many like me who would do this." He could tell that she was from a pride. She smelt like a pride that was all to it.

"Good! At least -they- know when their help is not wanted." She huffed tossing her mane out of her eyes. "I was doing just fine till you butted in." Ok, so that was an out and out lie and she knew it, but he had gotten her riled up by now and she was ready to let the fur fly.
"Why don't you go find some other poor sap to save?" She hoped he would get the idea his help wasn't wanted but underneath she was beginning to realize she hadn't had this much fun fighting with someone since she had left the swamps.

Dez'i rolled his eyes at the female and then shook his head as he started to head in the other direction. He couldn't help it. He was getting more and more annoyed at her. He would never raise a paw at a female and he wasn't about to now. "Alright fine." He said simply quite annoyed shaking his head before he stretched his paw out some and turned away getting ready to walk away.
"Fine alright I'm leaving you, whatever." His voice was strong, still very annoyed. But he wasn't about to start disrespecting the lioness however he was going to walk away no matter what.

"Good!" She huffed, her tail lashing the air behind her. Honestly! Males! She tried to squish the little voice in the back of her mind that sounded way too much like her mother, telling her she was being rude to a perfectly nice male....aww hells.
She heaved a sigh before padding after him, "Wait...look I;m sorry I was so rude." Her ears pinned flat back not liking that she was apologizing, but knew how disappointed her family would be in her for her attitude."I just, I don't need help. I can take care of myself."
Normally that would be reassuring, but she was a tiny little thing even if she was scrappy as hell. It would be beyond easy for someone to hurt her or steal her away.

Dez'i looked at the lioness and then blinked a few times before shrugging a little. "I guess I get what you're saying." He chuckled a little before nodding toward her. "I really do have to head away for a little, my mother is going to expect me home a little later." He noted to her wanting her to know that he just wasn't going because of her but because he had to go.

"Oh..uh..well ok then." She blinked startled then shrugged faintly. She felt a faint pang of longing when he mentioned his mother but quickly shoved it away. She was -never- going back! NEVER! Shaking her head quickly she nodded to the big male, "Well, be safe I guess. Maybe not keep trying to save girls that don't need saving!" She smirked playfully, but headed off not waiting for an answer.
There was a whole world out there for her to explore, and she wasn't getting anywhere just standing around talking.
