Silvamord was sat by the small river, looking listlessly at the running water. She still wasn't sleeping properly; only passing out when her body could stay awake no longer, and her fur hid a thin frame. She pressed a paw into the soft mud of the bank of the river, lifting it up and looking unseeing at the print she left.
She wondered if her cub's paws had gotten bigger; if they had gotten bigger. She hoped they had, that where ever they were and whoever had taken them they were safe and being treated well. It was all she had to cling to. That and Daktari. Her mate had become that much more dear in her wounded heart and she hoped that he would come find her, as she had not the energy to move herself at the moment.

Unfortunately for Silvamord, it was not her mate who eventually padded up as silent as a shadow behind her, but the dark-furred one known as Kimya'moja. The husky, low tones of the male's voice were far softer than the confident, flame-hued hyena they both knew so well.
"You need to rest, Silvamord." The concern in his voice was real, as was the careful wariness with which he spoke. Ever since the pup-napping, their already strained relationship had suffered a hard blow and the dark male was never entirely sure when his best friend's mate would snap. The events of the past few days had been a terrible strain on all of them, but it was Silvamord who had reacted the worst and Kimya truly wasn't sure that she was still entirely sane these days.
Shadowy paws shifted over the river-dampened mud as Kimya fought with the urge to stay and do his duty as the couple's friend, or leave Silvamord and escape the verbal lashing that was likely to commence very shortly in favor of finding Daktari and soothing his battered heart for a few short minutes in the red male's presence.

Silvamord had turned at the approach, not realising who it was until she did so. The slight lift she had felt plummeted again and her tired eyes became hard and cold at the mere sight of the male.
'I'm sure I do, but then if I don't, I'll eventually die from exhaustion and then all the barriers will be out of the way.' she hissed, her tone vicious. At one point, long before they had arrived in this place, Silva had managed to make allowances for him being Daktari's friend, especially when she had fallen pregnant.
But not now, he was just someone else to be blamed, and a constant reminder that she still did not have Dak to herself, even when she needed him most.

The dark-coated male almost shrank back at the cold look shot his way, but he managed to keep his paws in place, though his long ears did slip backwards against his skull, expression carefully neutral. He swallowed the heavy sigh that tried to escape at her cutting words, gaze lowering to the river bank. He knew she hated him now, though he simply couldn't bring himself to reciprocate the feeling. The whole situation was too sad, too depressing for him.
Sighing softly he shook his head, as much at the whole disaster as at her reaction to him and sheer stubbornness in her refusal to rest or even eat properly. "And break his heart and steal a mother's love from her pups.... Don't make this any more painful than it has to be, Daktari is suffering just as much as you are." For the first time he felt genuine anger raising up within him. She had the luxury in having a breakdown, in relying on Daktari and even if she wouldn't admit it, on Kimya himself too, to feed and protect her as well as look for the missing pups. Not that he thought her sane enough to help int he search, but surely she could look after herself and lift at least one worry from her mate's shoulders.
Feeling his lip curl upwards against his fangs he had to keep his voice from raising in complete frustration. "At least eat. You haven't touched the gazelle Dak brought back for you."
