I'm just wondering do you eat meat or not, like hamburgers, etc. Or salad... because I have always been a hippie, but I still think its cool to eat meat... your opinions?
PostPosted: Mon Feb 06, 2006 4:04 pm

I think whether or not one eats meat is a personal choice. Even if it falls under religion, because religion is also a personal choice. And that whole thing.

I don't eat that much meat myself. It's not a moral thing or anything, it's just a taste/texture issue. I don't eat pork, beef, or other red meats. I don't eat salami, hot dogs, sausages. I'm not a big fish eater. I pretty much stick to chicken and turkey because I don't have much to complain about taste-wise, unless it's fried chicken. I don't really like the fried part.

(:

To me, it's just a matter of personal choice. I'm not going to dislike someone for eating meat.

I've been vegetarian for nearly two years because of my health and spiritual reasons as well as out of compassion for animals. I've always been a picky meat eater when I ate meat (no pork, no steak, no red meat other than hamburgers, and no sea food).
I don't eat salad though. I don't really like it (as weird as I'm sure it sounds). I love Tofu though. It's awesome and I can't seem to get enough.

I'm all vegan xd

Though I believe strongly in not eating meat for various reasons, I'm still totally cool with other's choices of doing so cool

I actually started slipping the other day and started eating dairy foods offered to me by friends. So I watched those PETA videos and.. well... I'm vegan again.
Unless comes a time where I find a bunch of food in a dumpster. I'd rather not waste food, but I'm only going to support organic/vegan foods. Oh yeah.

I'm anti-meat, and I believe in phasing in animal rights. Unfortunately, some people have trouble shifting from a meat-based to vegetarian diet and can never thrive. (I read a theory on why this is so, which I'll post if I can find it.) But if you care at least about animal welfare and the earth and try to reduce meat and eat organic, I'll totally love you. 3nodding

Personally, I like meat. It satisfies the beast within me. ...Or something like that...
I like chicken and beef, mainly. Preferably in some sort of canned soup. Unless it's fried chicken. That stuff is just gross. Unfortunately, I had to eat some today, and I picked off all the greasy fried crap. Bleck.

Anywho, I'm all for vegetarianism for those people who can do it. Even though I cant bring myself to be an extreme animal lover or anything like that, I'm glad to see SOMEONE is looking out for that stuff. 3nodding

I don't eat meat, and while it is people's desicio whther or not they eat it, I'd prefer them not to. Factory farms are terrible places and as long as people buy the meat, the animals will still be treated horribly.

Meat's ok, its our insane desire for massive quantities that drives the greedy to mass-produce (mass slaughter) animals thats not ok. And contributed to the issue is our unwillingness to go out to the source ourselves.

A lil bit animal protein in the diet, when the animal is raised and killed humanely, and none of its body parts are wasted, now that is ok.

Yes but the Man has to take it too far doesn't He? I'm a meat eater myself but its perfectly natural. Its just how animals are treated when they are made into meat that causes many pplz to become vegitarian.

I don't mean to offend any vegetarians or vegans, but eating meat is natural part of the human lifestyle. Meats hold important nutritional value, especially red meats. The human body requires a source for 20 essential amino acids, and all of these can be found in meats. Protein holds more energy per gram than does carbohydrate (mainly all that is found in non-meats). Meat also contains fat, which is an important energy storing molecule.

I love meat, and I would never give it up. In fact, I was able to eat meat before I turned one year old. Let's face it - I'm a cave kid. I also have health reasons for not wanting to give meat up. I am a reasonably food-sensitive person whose mood is often dependent on what I eat. Eating foods high in protein just makes me feel better. While I am all for the humane treatment of animals (both the ones we eat and the ones we don't), I just don't think I could get enough protein in a meat-free diet. And, as I've said before, meat is one of my favorite food groups.

Let's jsut say I belong to a different PETA...

Meat is okay....for carnivores.

Vegetables are okay for herbavores.

Fruit is okay for frugivores.

Nothing's okay for dead people.

I'm a vegetarian, but I won't shun the tiger for what he is.
