It was a little past midday now, which had given all the fighters time enough to reccoperate from their fights. All would not be peaceful very, very soon.

It started off simple enough. Grass being crumpled underpaw, fallen branches displaced in his rush, the wind bringing his scent before eyes could locate the bright puppy pushing his way out of the brush. The Coliseum was hard to traverse when one was tired, as the sand mired paws and were not stable to stand on. Thus, Little Rainbow looked in worse condition than he actually was, tongue lolling (with some saliva falling to the ground even), ears flattened, and a wild-eyed look of pure fright. His tiny form shook as he stumbled and staggered his way over to the small congregation.

"H-Help . . ." It was all he managed before the puppy fell to his stomach with a groan.

Some blood stained the sand on his trail. A moderate scratch was etched into his thigh, where the blood stained yellow fur into murky orange and brown.

He'd gone to see Spellbinder, after making sure Lungaia did too. Despite her not-too-friendly personality, he just wanted to make sure she was going to be OK. It wasn't every day he decided to help someone out, even though he was raised to be like that. The reddish male stretched what he could of his sore, aching muscles and pains before wincing and looking about.

Where was he going today? Possibly he was going to go back home and just hang out with his da-

Then a voice caught his attention and made him look around for it. Blood filled his nose and then that's when the spotted the bleeding rainbow puppy who looked like he just saw a hunter or something! But the blood coming from behind the pup, as Lalita got closer he could see, looked pretty bad.

"Hey, what's wrong, why are you bleeding?" He stopped a comfortable distance away and looked the poor boy over.

Winner had gone and done as KK suggested, skulking over to rest for a while and mentally lick his wounds - he wouldn't dare lick his actual wounds of course , that would be showing weakness..no he'd just ignore those in public thank you very much. Instead he merely narrowed his eyes and glared at everyone equally.

He was still in a foul mood given his loss in the tournament fight - the only soothing thought he had was that Hero had lost as well..and even worse..he'd lost to a girl. As far as Winner was concerned that still put him ahead of the other wolf and when the aforementioned nemesis appeared Winner was quick to snap out a remark about it. "I thought Heroes were supposed to win the fights not get beat down by the Damsels" He quipped in a snide tone.

Hero heard the remark of course and while the urge to respond was great he also knew it was pointless...Winner would like nothing more then to drag him into a shouting match and disgrace himself in front of the entire pack so he merely lifted his lips and showed the beast his teeth as he passed by, muttering a few choice remarks under his breath instead.

Of course any thought of retaliation for Winners comment was put out of his mind when poor Little Rainbow came staggering towards them. Instantly on the alert hero changed direction and loped towards the pup. "Rainbow! What happened?!?" He called out anxiously.

Hero's sudden spring into action was of course enough for Winner to gain his feet and see what was happening as well - however when he saw it was just his bleeding son he yawned and lay back down. Dumb beast had probably lost his fight..or gotten hurt playing stupid games - either way Winner didn't much care.

LS was busy recounting his adventures in the fighting ring to his mother - or at least she was trotting along side her and jabbering away - whether she was actually listening to him or not was still up in the air though that fact didn't seem to be discouraging Last Stand in any way what so ever.

When the other pup came out and fell on the ground however LS stopped his play by play and followed his dads example, rushing over to see what was wrong.

Lungaia was half-tempted to leave after the fighting was over. This was a ridiculous idea, she thought; there was no point in fighting if you couldn't play for keeps, not when her sense of honor holding her back.

Indeed, she was on her way out of the pack, having decided that the whole thing was ridiculous, when she caught the scent of fresh blood. Immediately intrigued -- both cautious and exhilirated -- she shifted her course to intercept the source, and realized to her annoyance that she was not the first wolf to arrive.

And the pup was hardly maimed. Waste of her time, she thought, and fell back. Still...perhaps she should linger, at least until she figured out what was going on...maybe there was a real fight on her paws.

Glory trotted along in her brother's wake, happy enough to let him talk and share in the glory. She had won, of course, which she felt obliged to point out on at least one occasion, but there was nothing wrong in letting him enjoy himself.

A rainbow flash caught her eye and a strange lurching feeling caught in her stomach. She wasn't sure why, but the thought that came immediately into her mind was -- Conk?! -- but then she got a clearer look and she realized that, no, it was his brother Rainbow.

The relief that she felt at that realization confused her, as did the sudden lurch in her stomach, and she looked around herself with sudden extreme self-consciousness as though certain that everyone within a mile could tell exactly what she was thinking and feeling.

Trying to look nonchalant -- and heroic, because that's what Rua would want! -- she trotted after Stand.

"SNERK."

He couldn't help himself. Honestly, could you keep a straight face if someone yelled "Rainbow!" in a distressed manner and meant it?

What was the big deal anyway? Conk pushed his way past the growing mass around his . . . Huh, it was his brother. Guess he should have figured from the Rainbow bit. "Aww, did Momma's boy trip and fall and scratch himself?" the larger pup teased as he stood over Little Rainbow. "Or didja piss off some fox or somethin' while we were doing the real fighting over here."

Says the guy who won by a forfeit.

"Pff. No wonder you didn't sign up," Conk said as a matter of factly, nudging LR a little forcefully in one of the non-bloody places with his paw. "Quit whining and go see whatsherface already. You're wasting our time."

"N-N-N-N-N-"

So many wolves surrounding him. His body hurt a lot, both from running and from the wounds. And then Conk had to go and push him a bit more, which did not help matters. Whining, Rainbow slowly managed to pt himself into a sitting position, hating the feeling of the blood and sand mixing - or the sand sticking to him because of it, rather. He panted for a few more seconds before attempting speech again, though never had the pup had to address such a crowd.

"I-I just . . . We were . . . I saw h-him going alone, and I-I-I thought . . . So we w-went 'splorin', and there was this - this other guy, all bloody . . . But he l-lied! And I-I got away, b-b-but . . ." His haphazardly constructed explanation was put on hold as he began to tear up and sniffle, biting his lip guiltily as his ears pinned backwards. "I-I can't leave th-th-them! I-I-I'm terrib-ble, t-terribble -"

Whatever else he would have managed to spit out was lost momentarily due to two sounds:

The first was a short yelping howl, one that might have been recognizable by most of the pack members, most certainly familiar to the ears of Glory, Last Stand, and Hero. It was a panicked Castor.

It was short because it was cut off by the second sound, a dull roar.

Both sounded quite aways away, to the South of their location.

Winner had to smirk a bit at his second sons reaction to the whole event - that there was a child that he could...well not be proud of ...but at least claim as his own without wanting to brain himself on a tree afterwards. in any case the dark wold thought all this fuss was a bit over the top - the pup just looked tired and sure he was bleeding but none of it looked mortal.

Yawning again just to make sure everyone knew that he thought this was asinine and time wasting Winner went to lay his head back down and close his eyes - he fully intended to ignore the entire ordeal and spend his time coming up with a way to hurt Rua....when the second pup cried out (and it was Hero's pup so who really cared about that?) . No it was the roar afterwards that got Winners attention, was it possible a real true adversary had wandered onto the pack lands? excellent! Without waiting for anyone else Winner leapt to his feet and took off.

Some might consider the wolfs's actions as concern for the pup - but those who knew him would know otherwise. Winner just wanted to get to the mess first and of course..get in on the action that dull roar might signal.

Hero threw Conk a dirty look and being the adult neatly shouldered the obnoxious pup aside with the pretext of getting a better look at Rainbow injuries. Of course by that time the pup had started to tell his story and Hero was growing more and more concerned - and that concern was pushed to the limit when in the distance Hero heard Castor cry out.

This was not a good time for such a possible fight - the pack wolves were all tired from the tournament, some of them were already wounded from the earlier fights - including himself. Of course he couldn't let that stop him and as Winner dashed off Hero made to follow "Stand..Glory...you stay here with Rainbow, get him to shade and water!" He yelled back over his shoulder while he strained to catch up with Winners fleeing form, he hated the other wolf..but against outside attacks they would just have to work together now wouldn't they - as long as he could catch up before the dark wolf just barreled into the situation. He was sure that Artemis would follow him and hopefully some of the others in the tournament - thought several of them were outsiders and hero wasn't sure just how much he could trust them.

LS was frightened - first Rainbow had come up all bloody and then Castor had cried out and now everyone was running off and leaving him behind to help take care of the wounded - well at least he wasn't completely alone right? Glancing at Glory for a moment he then turned his gaze to Rainbow. "Can you walk? To the shade at least?" He questioned the other pup.

Part of him wanted to run after his father, to join in on saving Castor from whatever it was that was out there - but another part of him realized that he was only a puppy and as such was no match for most threats..at least not yet. but he could be useful - he could do what his father said and help Rainbow...so thats what he was going to do, as best as he could.

Artemis had been happily lounging around after the first round of the tournament. She still felt a bit bad for beating Hero, but it wasn't like they had hurt each other, and the way he had flopped dramatically at the end had been quite entertaining. She had been sitting there listening to the stories from her pups on how they did in their tournament matches. Regardless of whether they won or lost, Artemis was incredibly proud of her pups. They would grow into fine wolves one day, even if some where still figuring themselves out, it would all come in time.

Her attention was tore away by the arrival of young Rainbow covered in blood. Instantly she was on her feet and quickly checked over those of her pups who were present. Other than a few small marks from their bouts they were unharmed. Motherly instinct kicked in and she hurried over to the injured pup. Hero was already there and she listened to him speak to Rainbow. Something was wrong, terribly wrong and then needed to see that it was fixed. Her eyes ticked over to Winner and Conk, huffing slightly. Those wolves, far too much alike, she should have known Winner would not care, even if it was one of his pups hurt. Then she heard a sound that broke her heart, it was Castor.

Her attention turned to her pups as Hero raced off. "Do as your father tell you. Stay here where you are safe." She paused long enough to give them and Rainbow a small nuzzle and raced off after Hero. Her pup was in danger and she would rip apart whoever was behind it.

Sitting off a distance away from the others Whirlpool was still hurting over the fact that he had been so easily defeated by his brother. No, he hadn't been defeated, he had given up and ran as if he were a worthless little omega. Hell from the talk amongst the adults gathered even Pumpkinhead, the fool that he was, had won his match. It was so unfair. Life was so unfair. Even the arrival of his injured brother couldn't break Whirl out of his state of self loathing.

Celaeno had not competed, though she had wanted to, but she had missed the opportunity to do so. That was fine, she didn't need to prove herself - well except to Winner of course. But she would find some other way to do just that. And that opportunity presented itself upon the arrival of Rainbow. Part of her felt bad for the pup, as he had obviously been through something terrible, and yet when she saw Winner's reaction to the whole thing all she could do was mimic his boredom. Celaeno looked away from the situation with unimpressed look on her face, even though her parents showed concern for the other pups well being.

After her parents left Celaeno gave a bit of a huff as her mother nuzzled her before running off. Turning she padded over to where Winner was laying and sat down beside him meanwhile ignoring as her siblings took care of Rainbow.

Lungaia didn't bother waiting for the pup's explanation to finish, or for the cry from Castor. As soon as he mentioned the presence of another, she was on her paws. She had seen all she needed to know: a pup was injured and frightened, something foul was afoot, and there might be a fight on her hands. A real fight. Quietly, she slipped away from the group, skirting around the worried huddle around Little Rainbow -- who seemed just fine, in her estimation -- and made her way in the direction he had come. When the cry broke out, and the roar, she picked up her pace, head low and shredded ears flattened to her head, and she was running at a full-sprint by the time Hero caught up with her. She cast him a sidelong glance but said nothing, and returned her eyes to the path.

Glory shot a dirty look at Conk, then thought better of it and trotted over to get up in his face. "Shut your trap," she growled, pulling herself up to her full height and glaring at him. It felt better to yell at Conk -- made her feel like everything was right in the world again, for one, and also made her feel empowered. "You've never been hurt in your whole life, you big baby, and you know if you were hurt half as bad as your brother that you would be yelling so loud that -- "

But she never got to say what he'd be yelling so loud, because somebody else did yell, and it froze her blood in her veins. Castor? No! Now this was personal.

Snapping her maw shut mid-jibe at Conquering Hero, she turned tail, ignored her mother's orders to stay put, and rushed forward as fast as those stubby legs would carry her. She hadn't trained her whole short life to be a hero for nothing!

Conk, who hardly thought anything of what was said to him, snorted and followed at Glory's heels, hellbent to get there first. Save a stupid Hero spawn and kill a monster? Clearly this was the best way to get his name cemented into the pack's history.

He, along with Hero, Winner, Artemis, Lungaia, and Glory would arrive on the scene within, say, a pawful of minutes. Even so, the air was punctuated by several more loud roars, and an undertone of one very, very frightened pup.

His cries were growing progressively weaker.

Eventually their noses would lead them to a small incline of earth, protruding rocks, and a part of the Timeless River - it was light blue, not from being shallow but from the rapids that it was leading to. The water was sloshing as it picked up speed, and spelled certain danger if a wolf was not strong enough to fight it. Several larger rocks poked above the surface, smooth enough for an adolescent maybe to keep some purchase if they moved quickly.

Castor was currently on one of them.

He was about as hurt as Rainbow had been, if not moreso. Fresh wounds stained his pelt, and his tail was a tucked as possible. He was a trembling, mostly wet mess, and quite unaware that a cavalry had come. His eyes were focused before him:

A monstrous bear of undeterminable gender was looming on the opposite bank, its muzzle wrinkled into a permanent scowl as it stomped forward. Scars covered it, none of which could have been caused by either Rainbow or Castor, and something odd was sticking out from one side of its head: thin and slender, with smooth ends like feathers. The current did not affect it, and it knew if it could knock the bothersome creature off the rock, it would be easy prey - as if the pup already wasn't quite weakened.

But the bear was more attentive than Castor was, and it easily spotted the wolves as they arrived. Its beady eyes narrowed further, and it let loose another angered roar as it stepped forward menacingly.

(( BATTLE TIME, YOU GUYS!

BEAR'S HP: 50
CASTOR'S HP: 7

~ Everyone is at full health thanks to Spell's herbs (however nasty they might have been): pups are at 16 HP while adults are at 20 HP.

~ Same battle rules apply for attacking, save for a few changes. For normal attacks, roll a six-sided die. A 1 still indicates a miss, but if you're lucky enough to roll a six, that means your'e wolf managed to find purchase on the bear/found another weak spot and gets to immediately roll a 4 sided die for extra damage; a 1 does not mean a miss this time. ICly, this could translate to something like this (but with more rp padding of course):

xxxx1st post: Super Dude decides he'll be a Big Damn Hero and rush right at the bear. He manages to roll a 6 with his attack and leaps onto the bear's back with a nasty bite.
xxxx2nd post: Rolls a 3 with his four-sided die roll. Emboldened by the bear's pained roar, he slides down the bear's back with a claw embedded in its fur long enough to cause just a little bit more damage.

~ Those on the offensive may do the normal attack or a charge (the latter can be done up to 3 times). The Taunt attack is unavailable for this battle. Apparently the bear is already pretty damn angry and won't be listening for witty insults about its mother and what you did with her.

~ Beware! The bear is quite large, and is capable of attacking multiple targets in one go.

~ As with tournament posts, you do not necessarily have to attack. Castor looks pretty bad and will need some help getting across the slippery rocks to their side. A person may spend their post-turn aiding him.

~ Others are welcome to join in on the fight as the player wishes! Only up to three wolves, however.

~ Other commands/opportunities may be open to you as the fight goes. I will let you know if this happens, as I adapt to how the fight goes just as much as you are. 83

Remember to keep track of how much damage you do per post-turn as well as your hp in each post.

You have about three days to reply between bear posts.
))

"I-I think . . ." Rainbow managed as a reply to Last Stand, shakily getting to his paws. He seemed more shaken up than anything else, especially at the sight of some of the others running towards the horrible sounds. He whimpered, wishing he could stop them, and then turned back to the other pup. "Can you help? W-We need to go find the adults . . ."

Specifically KK, Oath, and most preferably Spell. Rainbow would endure a day's length of yelling if it meant making the hurt stop.

Winner took the time to cast a smug look back at Hero as he crashed upon the scene before his pansy willed nemesis. The dark wolf didn't even bother to stop and look at the pup - to be honest he didn't really care about the kids safety at all...he was only here for the glory and beating this monstrous specimen of bear would bring him a good bit of it.

"You wandered into the wrong forest fur face!" He yelled at the beast before dashing in to leap up and n** at its face, being rewarded as an eyetooth snagged on flesh and drug a bloody furrow down the beasts face.

"Winner!" Hero yelled out as that pea brained moron rushed straight at the bears face - he was sure to get swiped by te bears massive claws doing something like that - and even though he hated Winner that didn't mean he wanted to see him get mauled by a bear either. With a glance a Castor - who looked injured and miserable..but alive Hero dashed in to try and keep any further blood shed to a minimum, unless it was the bears blood anyways.

In an attempt to distract the bear from swiping at Winner, Hero danced around to the bears side and jumped up to n** at its ears before dancing away. He was rewarded with a scrap of bear ear between his teeth and he hoped it was enough of a distraction. "Someone help Castor!" He yelled at the wolves who had come to help.

Getting the other adults seemed like a really good idea to LS and he nodded at Rainbow "Good plan, what in the world beat you up like that?" He questioned Rainbow while helping him to stand, offering support so that they might stagger in the direction of the rest of the pack.

LS wasn't sure how long it would take them to get there - but Rainbow was in no condition to hurry and without knowing what was happening he was loathe to just leave the pup so that he could hurry ahead and find more of the adults.

Lungaia HP = 20
Damage to bear = 4
Bear HP = 41

A bear, was it? A glimmer woke in her eyes. That was a formidable opponent indeed. Muscles shifted under her pelt, making her wing markings almost appear to flutter, and then she was there.

She ran forward, skirting around the others and launching herself for the bear's hind leg. If she could get in far enough, she would try to tear its hamstring.
