Nola wandered through the forest, watching the birds dancing along with each other, creating melodies with their hearts as they joyously chirped with each other. She smiled up at them, watching their wings flex and catch the sunlight. She had always admired birds. They reminded her of her father, as he has wings.

She continued walking a path seemingly never taken, stepping over branches that have aged into the ground. She enjoyed the lush greens that surrounded her, giving her a sense of security. Oh how she loved wandering about by herself. There was always something magical to see.

Her gaze turned to a creek, sparkling as the sun caught it just right, making it glisten like diamonds. She thought it would be a nice place to sit for a moment and think about her adventures and the nature around her. She sat down, placing her front hooves in the cool water, wincing slightly as she wasn't expecting it to be that cold. Her hooves adjusted and she relaxed, looking up at the canopy of lush, green leaves above her as they gently caressed each other as the wing lovingly swayed them. Today was a good day, she decided.

User ImageYori trotted long the creek. He wasn't intrested in the birds or everything surrounding him. No his eyes were looking into the clear waters of the creek. He was obviously intrested in something there over the beauty around him. "Fish....fish.......fish." He mumbled to himself. He liked to watch fish and was headed to where the creek started. The natural spring created a large pool at the top that fed down into the creek. The pool housed many beautiful fish. He could sit all day and watch the fish swimming back and forth.

His mane blew everywhere with the warm summer breeze. His tail having a life of it's own went every which way. The stallions hooves rang out on the rocky path he was trotting. He looked raither content and happy within his own little world. At least until he came to an abrupt stop.

There in the waters reflection was a horned creature. That thing on it's head looked like it could hurt him. He looked up then went wide eyed. Ohhh god it was real! He thought to himself. It appeared to be another Soquili. He bolted past it as quickly as he could running up the creek. At least it was on the other side of the creek. So it couldn't get him. Maybe it didn't see me? He thought wildly to himself. He knew better then that. He was sure that it had seen him how could anything miss his bright colored markings.

Nola had noticed the other soq in the reflection of the stream. She had offered a smile, but it clearly went unnoticed. She watched in mild amusement, and a bit of awe as he darted away from her like she was the plague. 'Well that was rude...' she thought to herself. She stood up, shaking out her mane before she trotted along, and then breaking into a gallop.

She felt the wind whip by her face, playing with her hair like innocent children as it giggled softly in her ears. She couldn't lose him. He was a stark contrast, unlike a needle in a haystack; clearly seen, and could easily be caught.

If she could not fly, she sure as heck could run. Her legs moved with a grace unknown to many as her muscles flexed, shimmered with the sun's rays trickling down on them and stretched out. She'd catch up to him in no time.

She was across the crystal watered creek and looked over at him. "Hey! What on Earth are you running from?" she asked. It had occurred to her already that he was indeed running from her, but why tell him that? That would take out the fun of hearing his response. Nola enjoyed conversation, and this one seemed to already start off quite amusing; if he'd talk...

If not, she'd just have to force it out. She never backed down from a challenge, and quite frankly, she liked him already. He had spunk. That or he was a scardey cat...

Yori looked over seeing that the mare was indeed following him. It was talking to him too. Don't answer! Maybe it will go away. He told himself. He didn't want that thing gutting him with that sharp thing on it's head. He suddenly went off in a burst of speed leaving the mare behind once again.

He burst through the bushes surrounding the pool of water. He tried to stop but ended up belly deep into the water. The waves spilling out of the pool and scattering fish to all ends of it. "S..s...sorry." He muttered to the fish. "T...t...this thing is chasing me!" He looked at the scattered leaves from the bush floating on the water. He waded back out of the water shaking leaves and branches out of his mane. He peered around looking to see if that mare had followed.

Nola blinked as he saw her, then taking off at a speed she'd rather not attempt at the moment. Part of her felt a bit, guilty. He was clearly scared, and she knew that she was the object of his fright. She slowed down to a trot before she stopped all together. Sighing, she watched him go off into the distance, becoming nothing more than a dark spot on the lush, green horizon.

She was going to turn around when she heard the splash, and her instincts kicked in, taking her legs farther than she had expected. She saw him in the water. He seemed so innocent. She giggled at him, giving him a warm smile. "Would you like some help?" she asked as she trotted around the pool of water, noticing a fish that had spilled out. She looked at in in adoration before gently nudging it back into the cool water. "There ya go little guy."

She looked up at the stallion, offering him a gentle smile, but there was apprehension behind her eyes. He had been afraid of her. What would cause a stallion of his size and measure to be afraid of her? The thought was almost as frighting as the look in his eyes.

Yori started backing into the pool as she approached. Why won't it leave me alone? "I.....I...I'M NOT FOOD!" He blurted out scared the mare was wanting to eat him. "D...D..Don't use that thing on me!" He cried out. He continued to back up, loosing his footing and falling backwards into the pool. He fell onto his back legs into a sitting position, the stones of the pool causing discomfort to his hind end. He nervously peered at the mare through a mess of mane, branches and leaves.

He blinked once she gently pushed the fish back into the pool. Maybe it was nice? He felt the fish swarming around him and nibbling at his belly. He tried not to giggle at the tickles for he was still scared of the mare. What if it was being nice just to make me get close then use that sharp thing on me!

Nola blinked in utter shock at what he had said. Last time she checked, she was a vegetarian, and certainly didn't eat her own kind. She started giggling, looking at the sorry sight before her. She couldn't help but find it all so comical, and innocently adorable. "My horn isn't for stabbing. It's biggest use is probably getting tangled in branches and trees and making me fall over myself." She huffed up at the object nestled on her forehead. "It enjoys making me fall a lot. And food? No you're not food. You're a soquili, like me. I don't eat my kind and I certainly hope you don't eat our kind either."

She moved closer, swishing her tail in excitement. She had never seen someone like this soquili. She was used to her father, brother and mother, but she had never seen one with such an interesting horn on his own head. "And have you looked in a reflection lately? You've got a horn poking out of your head too!" she defended with a smug smile on her face.

"I'm Nola. I don't want to hurt you, only to help you." Her voice rang like soft bells in the daylight, mixed with all the warmth her heart could give. She didn't posses a single bone that could hate, not that she'd hate him anyway. He didn't seem like the evil type anyway. He seemed far from it honestly.

Yori let out a snort before bursting into giggles from the nibbling fish. "S...s.....stop!" He moved his front hooves from the tickling scattering the fish in every which direction. He stopped giggling then peered at Nola. "M....m....mine aren't sharp! Y...y...yours is sharp." He looked down at his reflection, he had leaves and twigs sticking out every which way from his mane. He frowned at it. How am I going to get all this out? It's all her fault she was chasing me! He grumbled in his mind.

He got on all four hooves then made a wide arch around the mare. "I...I...I don't eat my own kind!" He cringed at the very thought. He knew there were things out there in the world that would eat him. He peered at the mare. "W....w....what makes you think I...I...I need help?" Was it that obvious that he was needing help in this new place. Maybe Apple knew this mare and told her about him. He could feel the blush of embarrassment creeping up his neck. At least it would not be seen his coat was to dark. He knew he wasn't as smart as others when it came to being around here.

Nola couldn't help but laugh at his giggle. It was carefree and gentle, like he really seemed to be. She raised an eyebrow as she watched him attempt getting up. Her eyes going to his tangled mane and all the debris he had managed to get into it. "Mine may be sharp, but I'd never use it to hurt anyone. Unicorns are nothing but peaceful. Haven't you ever heard the legends?"

She shifted her weight on the soggy ground as she watched him made a wide half-circle around him. Her eyes never becoming suspicious, or ever distrusting. She had never met a soq she couldn't handle, and this one was certainly no exception. "Good, so that's one thing we have in common. We don't eat each other." She smiled brightly at him; her tail swishing against her rear legs.

Nola snorted at his broken answer. "You seem to have fallen into water and are covered in twigs, leaves and your hair is a mess. I live around here. I could help get you all cleaned up. And I promise I will refrain from killing, injuring, or eating you." Her voice was heavy with sarcasm as her face light up into a cheeky grin.

She watched his face contort, like he was remembering something, but she stayed quiet. She found him amusing certainly. She didn't want to push him away.

"Well now my dark and mysterious stallion. I seem to have introduced myself, yet I seem to be lacking in the knowledge of your name. May you be so kind as to lend me that knowledge?"
Her words were sophisticated, clearly indicating her intelligence, yet they were playful and sarcastic. He was fun already, and she was just enjoying herself out in the woods...

With a strange, yet oddly amusing stallion. Today was certainly an adventure.

Yori sat down starting to shake his head trying to dislodge the twigs and what not. He only managed to get them more tangled in his mane. He let out a heavy sigh. "Y...y...you help me?" He gave his head a small toss indicating his mane. "U...u....unicorn? N...n...never heard of t....them." He peered at her. He wasn't giving her his name until he was sure she was nice. She would have to prove that. At least she had markings like him, different.

Nola huffed softly when he still neglected to give her his name. She shrugged it off. Not everyone was as open as she was probably. However in all her adventures, she had never seemed to met such a reserved soq. She had met plenty who were frightened, but they were never frightened of her.

She watched his wet hair fling, wrapping itself tighter around the debris in his hair. She looked to the ground, shuffling her feet. "Of course I'd help you. You're a mess." She took a small step closer, waiting for his reaction. She didn't want to push him, but she certainly wanted him to see her as friend and not foe.

"Unicorn, yes. That's what I am specifically. My horn has magical abilities, but I don't really seem to be able to use them. It's just good for good for getting tangled up in tree branches really. I'm good at healing magic. That's about it."

She paused for a second, looking at his markings, his back and his single antler, at least that's what it looked like to her. "What're you?" she asked innocently, cocking her head to the side almost like an innocent foul.

Yori watched her approach him. "S...s...someone said that I....i...I'm a kirin. I....I...I dunno what that is." He was just as confused about himself as she was. He was confused on everything around here. "I...I...I would like help." He knew he was blushing but at least it could not be seen. "I...I...I'm new around h...h...here." He settled down laying his head across his front legs so she might be able to reach him. "I...I...I'm Y...Y....Yori."

He peered at the water where the fish were starting to swarm. He smiled watching the fish they were so calming to him. He loved the fish. They were nice and quiet. He looked back at the mare. "N...N...Nola is your name?"

Nola nodded at him, in-taking his sub-species and trying to figure out if she had ever heard of it. She moved closer to him, kneeling down so she could help untangle his mane. "I'm going to use my horn, but it's not to stick you with..." she warned before she leaned closer. Her face became hot as she felt the blush flow into her cheeks. She mentally kicked herself.

While she had been on many adventures, she had never been so close to another soq that wasn't either her best friend, or her own family. Especially a male. She cleared her throat, focusing on her horn and using it to slide into his mane, flick out the debris, and leave the hair hanging like it was supposed to. "What did you do in there? Spin around a few times?" she playfully asked, trying to distract herself from how close she had to be to him. She felt nervous, if anything. She hardly knew him.

She wanted to protect him though. There was just something about him that she really enjoyed. He seemed so sheltered, and if he was that frighted of her, just wait till he met a kalona. "Yes, my name is Nola, and from today, you're stuck with me." She smiled at him brightly, playfully knocking her horn softly into his antler.

Yori continued to watch the fish as she started getting the debris out of his mane. "S...S...Stuck? W..W...What you mean by t...t....that?" He wasn't sure if this was a good thing or not. He could feel himself blushing again. "I...I...I was scared of you! I...I...I went through a bush." He started to relax a bit. She seemed pretty nice. "Y...Y...You don't mind w...w....what I look like?" He flicked his tail nervously. He didn't want to be teased for his looks by her. She looked just as odd as him. He closed his eyes trying to shake off all the hurtful things that went through his head. He just wanted to belong somewhere. So far the two legger that tamed him had given him a home and plenty to eat.

Nola giggled when he mentioned he had been frightened of her. She wanted to ask, but was apprehensive. She wanted to know why he ran, but she was afraid to find out the truth. What if he had gone through a tough life so far? Or what if he was an escapee from the harpies? She gulped at that thought. Her thoughts came back to the present as she looked him straight in the eye, as she unhooked a twig from his mane. "Stuck, because I'm not leaving your side, sillygoose." She giggled softly, before deciding she'd better go back to cleaning out his mane.

His next sentence confused her. She blinked in utter surprise a few times before finally saying, "It's not what's on the outside that counts, but what's on the inside. You could look like a huge mean, angry kalona, but I'd still never care about what you look like. You've got a strong heart," she paused, giving him a shy smile. "I can tell."

She felt her cheeks heating, and decided that she needed to return to the task at hand. She only had a few more knots, and twigs to pull out. She was glad that he didn't seem to mind her so close, or that she was tugging on his hair.

Granted, she was being as gentle as possible, which was another reason it was taking so long, but the thought of hurting him made her feel nervous. So she kept her steady, slow pace and just continued on. Hoping that he couldn't see the blush on her cheeks.
