Feeling the warm sensation of the soft sand between his toes, Bali let a small smile slip onto his face. It was so nice, being out in the more deserty-part of the savannah. He had grown up with the sand baked into his fur, his mother teaching him how to survive in even the worst environments. It was probably all of this that caused Bali to go on for long periods of time without stopping to rest for even a moment.
With a sudden urge, he flopped over onto the ground, wiggling back and forth. The sand felt so nice and warm against his back, and he felt like a cub again. Not too worried about enemies out in the sand, he closed his eyes, lying on his back letting his stomach soak up the heat from the sun.

Bouncing lightly as she walked, Areia felt overjoyed just to be awake and walking around today. It was in her nature, to take every day almost as a gift, letting nothing bring her down for long. Even the death of her mother didn't keep her down; Areia just kept in mind that every spirit needed to transition to the next phase in the cycle, to keep life going. In this respect, Areia knew that her mother was in turn giving life to something else, and that thought alone made her smile.
Flicking her eyes around, she really didn't expect to see movement not too far off. Sure, she knew others were raised like she was, but she didn't normally see them. But this sighting really made her happy, because it looked like the other creature was as happy as she was, wiggling around on in the warm sand.
Trotting closer to the other creature, Areia let a broad smile slide on to her face as she called out to the other. "Hello!"

Ah, there truly was nothing better than the solice of basking in the sun in the middle of the desert....
Then why was it that someone was trying to disturb him? Ears twitching, Bali opened his eyes just barely, the blue shade looking just slightly pissed. The scenery around him was bright and brown, and he didn't see the approaching female at all. He could only hear the light padding on the sand, which was faint at best.
"Hmn?" Putting his paw over his eyes to dampen the sun, he could barely make out the female's....brown figure. Her green eyes stood out the most, like two emeralds buried in the mud. "Oh." Rolling onto his side, Bali could never turn away a female; it was in his nature. "And what can I do for you?" Cracking a smile, he still couldn't see her too well, but his eyes were slowly adjusting.

Quite fascinated by his markings, Areia stared at the male for a few moments before saying anything more. "Oh!" Bouncing on her toes, she looked quite naive standing there. "I was just wandering around, and I saw you." Nodding, her words were kind of choppy and spastic, much like her thought process. "You looked like you were having fun, so I thought I'd join you." Sitting herself down on the sand in front of him, she felt its warmth flow through her whole body.
"I usually don't see anyone else out here..." Letting her eyes wander off somewhere else, her energy level fell a little, as she was reminded of how lonely it was in the desert. "But maybe you're like me, huh?" Smiling at him, she hoped that he lived here most of the time, too.

"I see." Swishing his tail back and forth in the sand, Bali stared at her as his eyes finally adjusted properly. She was pretty cute, and looked like she was made for the desert.
"Same here." Letting out a laugh, Bali felt her pain. Even when he was still with his mother, there were hardly ever other creatures out here. But it didn't really surprise him that the one creature he stumbled upon was another cheetah. They just seemed to be more....built for the desert.
"I guess we're of the same breed." Grinning at her, she seemed like someone that he wanted to keep around, more as a companion than a love interest. Though that thought seemed quite odd since they had just met.

"Yeah! That makes me so happy." Looking at him, he seemed like a fairly nice male. And his appeal increased two-fold since he was like her, out in the desert.
"It just gets so lonely out here sometimes, you know? Well, I probably don't have to tell you that." Laughing a little, her statement actually made her feel very hollow at times. It was probably the one thing in life that actually had a constant nagging on her soul.
"My name is Areia." Leaning in a little closer to him, she grinned, hoping that he could be a newfound friend. At least, that's what she was really hoping for.

"Areia? It sounds so....exotic." Giving her a smile, it really did sound like it was from a far off land. Though his name had a similar ring to it...
"My name is Bali." For once, Bali had an earnest look on his face. It was young and soft, with a touch of happiness fueling it. He closed his eyes for a moment, cherishing this moment as the beginning of something amazing. Or at least, he hoped.
"It really can be pretty lonely out here..." Opening his eyes, he looked off in the distance for a moment, thinking of how rare it was to come across someone else. "But we found each other, yeah? I think it's fate."

"You think so? It was the name my mother gave me, and I cherish it always." Twisting back and forth, Areia would cradle her name like a small cub if she could. She still remembers when her mother gave her her name; Areia's mother had always believed in giving something a name only after it had earned it, so it fit them well. That day, her mother had told her that she was warm, and always shifting, like the sand under their paws. And so, she was given her name.
"It must be! The Gods must have seen our lonely souls and drawn them together naturally." Grinning and nodding her head, she looked rather excited about the whole idea. "Which means, Bali, you are linked to my soul." Putting her paw over her chest, she looked almost solemn, but happy. "And I am linked to yours. How shall we describe it?" Scooting up next to him, she stared into his blue eyes.

Looking a little dumbfounded, Bali couldn't have been more happy at her words. It's what he'd been feeling, what he'd been wanting, and she had said it perfectly without being awkward or off-topic.
"We should be family." Letting his eyes close partly, Bali looked cool and collected. "Because that is the strongest love of all." Flicking his eyes back up to her, a broad smile grew on his face. "And right now, I can say that I love you." It was a little strange, how fast this was moving. But for some reason, he felt a connection greater than anything he'd ever felt before, and he knew that she had felt it, too. It was like finding a sibling after so long and not needing even the slightest of introductions.

"Then I will love you always, Bali." Leaning in to nuzzle his neck, Areia felt like the emptiness that had consumed her was slipping away now. It felt so right, and though she'd never admit it, it filled the hole the death of her mother had left.
"I think I'll stay with you awhile, Bali." Grinning at him, she knew that he was a traveler, but she wanted to linger with her new brother for a little while, learning everything there was to know about him. "And we'll always come to the spot of our birth when we return. So now, tell your story, and I'll tell you mine."
