Here deer, deer, deer, deer. Come to Auntie Sprite. I promise I'll be gentle. Thought the female wolf as she was on the hunt for a pretty tawny colored deer that had spots on it's hindquarters and was very elusive. A trait she admired in her prey since it provided good exercise and helped her hone her hunting skills she learned a year or so from her father. However, it wasn't a trait she was admiring as much since she was hungry. Very hungry and wanted something juicy, something that would tie her over until she could find a much better hunting ground to stay in.The sound of rustling branches sounded ahead of her. Lifting her nose to the air Sprite caught the scent of her deer who wouldn't heed her mental call, which was slightly sad that she couldn't have the power to do something like that, and she also caught the smell of something else. Not knowing what the new scents were she followed the one that was from the deer, moving silently and swiftly through the trees with her head lower to the ground heading towards the beach.Without realizing that her attention on the deer left, she stopped to look up at the sight before her. It was beautiful here. The breeze passed through her pretty fur coat, the scent that she couldn't identify was saltly and no doubt fresh as the sky around her was open. It was as open as the ocean in front of her. So this is the ocean. I've heard such nice stories from mother and father about this place but I never thought I would ever come and see it. Sprite thought wistfully about her parents. Shaking her head and staring hard at the sparkling blue, turquoise and clear ocean water that bordered the clean sand, the deer she had been hunting sprang away from the corner of her eye, taking her attention away momentarily. Taking a few steps into the direction of the deer, the female wolf stopped at the sound of a roaring crash. Looking back at the ocean, that sound came from the waves that were rolling in. Curious. This place was beautiful and curious. Now, Sprite had to make a decision. Either remain where she was to explore this place she might never get a chance to see again or...follow the deer, eat and obviously not be able to find her way here since that deer was determined to give her a run for her money. Or rather a run for her food since wolves can't have money. Sighing softly she silently said goodbye to the runaway deer and high tailed it straight to the water. Smiling she touched the cool water and sighed again in pleasure. It felt lovely. Looking around she noticed that the sand sunk down when you pressed on it and was laughing at it. Looking up she noticed that there was large rocks and small rocks, some forming circles full of water that created tidalpools full of it's own sea life. Trotting over to those pools she saw little fishes and some small crabs. There were clams that were stuck to the face of the rocks under the water and above it. Sprite looked closer, nosing around the water and scaring the fishes away. She was hungry so....What would those fishes taste like? After all, she was the only one here to enjoy this beautiful right?

Unlike most times, this time of day, Lizard is not sunning himself on one of the smoother outcroppings of large bounders that makes up the outer walls of his home along the beach. Instead, he is making a round about his territory, made restless by the sense of a storm approaching in the distance. He estimates it won't make it to his location for several hours, yet, but the scent of ozone-- less distinguishable to a wolf unused to the ocean-- is faint and clear, to him, on the southern-blown wind.
Lizard does not like storms.
It's not so much that they frighten him, but that they frighten most other things into hiding. And he himself is often forced to stay in his cave, else he become as soaked as a drowned rat.
So he moves, restless and a little tense, though quiet as the faintest rustle of leaves. He is listening now, as a new scent has made it's way toward him from the north. A very near and very new scent, indeed. The smell of a wolf, and one he does not recognize. A female wolf. Lizard's eyes brighten a little bit. He's already in something of an off mood from the promise of foul weather [and is rarely in a good mood, anyway], and so the promise of crossing paths with a trespasser on his territory somewhat brightens his disposition.
He circles wide, from the south, downwind so that the other wolf has no idea, and then hunkers down a little behind the bright mangroves and other greenery that camouflage him so well. He watches as the female wanders about the mangroves, and spots the deer she must have been chasing just as it darts away. The look of pure fear on it's expression is almost comical in the juxtaposition of pure wonder on hers. He nearly laughs-- and would have given himself away if he had-- but controls himself and settles for a smirk instead.
The lone wolf gives her a moment to enjoy the scenery before he speaks up-- his voice is low and sonorous; calm even. "Might I ask what you're doing here, stranger? I don't recall inviting anyone to my territory." There's an almost-growl in the last part, and he steps out of the brush, his eyes sharp and cunning. Still, his form is rather relaxed, despite the sharpness in his words, and the stance he takes is not one for fighting.
[[ note that Lizard is no longer an adolescent at this point, ICly xD I just don't have the reqs completed at the time do grow him into his Lone lines c: ]]

Having moved slightly to look closely at this really red crab walking slowly sideways with his claws clipping every so often, it was totally understandable that Sprite's attention to her surrounds was....distracted. Hearing the sudden voice of a man, especially one who growled and wanted to know what she was doing on his territory she jumped with a yelp backwards to face where the voice came from. However, since it was wet around her she lost her footing and the poor dear fell on her backside and ended up in a tidalpool that had black, long-spined sea urchins. Of course being that Sprite didn't feel the sting since her focus was going towards that voice...No towards that large male wolf. Blinking she tilted her head to the side, "I was just......exploring?" She said lamely since she ended up losing her quick footed deer and became distracted by the sheer beauty this place provided. "Is this your territory?" Sprite asked unaffected by those sharp as a knife eyes that held a cunningness to them that anyone would do well to keep their guards up at all times.

Lizard is smirking when Sprite spins around to face him, and as the female wolf loses her footing and lands in a tidepool, he can't help the laughter that escapes him. It's such a ridiculous sight, and despite his rather... prickly nature, Lizard is a wolf who loves to laugh.
"Exploring. Doesn't your nose work, my dear?" His tone is like velvet, but as he steps forward, his head tilts to study her, and the look in his features is fine-tuned, but hard to read. It's impossible to tell what he's planning, if he's planning anything at all, and whether or not his intentions are good, bad, or neutral. "I'm certain my scent still marks the border of my land. The storm hasn't yet arrived to wash it away."
Closer and closer his paws carry him. He moves with an unconscious grace, until he is merely a few feet from the female and, for a moment, his gaze wanders to the water around her, before returning to hers again. "I would stand up if I were you. Some of those creatures are poisonous, and even the one's who aren't still hurt like hell."
Again, his tone seems nonchalant, almost, but there is definite tension in his large, lean frame. Every expression he makes seems angular and sharp, somehow -- even the faint half-smirk, half-smile resting on his lips.

For the most part Sprite tried hard not to roll her eyes. No she didn't catch his scent...Not until now that her nose wasn't mixed with ocean water and deer. Narrowing her eyes slightly at the male laughing at her she stood up gracefully and sat down away from the water. Good thing too since those sea urchins had been inches away from touching her bum and would have made this meeting embarassing for the wolf.
Anyways, the wolf tilted her head to the side and stared at this male. He was definiately, like all other males, a very good looking wolf but this one had a different aura. "My nose works fine, thank you very much, however, that doesn't mean I caught it. No, I was on a trail of a very tasty deer but seeing this beauty distracted me. All other scents were banished from me." The wolf explained turning her head to look to the side at the sandy shores and the waters caressing the rocks and such.
"Since my deer left the menu, I might have to settle for one of these things walking oddly or the fishes here." Sprite looked at the male with a small smile, completely at easy with herself and the surrounding, even if the male was a bit overbearing. "Unless of course I have to ask you permission for fish that don't really stay in one spot longer than a few minutes? That would be horrible manners regardless if you invited me here or not." The female gave the male a wolfish smirk at him.

Lizard smiles at her. A bold wolf, that's for sure, especially for a trespassing female. Oddly enough, though, it doesn't piss him off so much as amuse him --- not that the amusement itself isn't somewhat dangerous. Lizard taking an interest in anyone is rarely good for them.
"Manners? My dear... I think I am displaying rather impeccable manners at the moment for not tearing your throat out. Other wolves may not be so... tolerant. However, seeing as you haven't really done much more than follow your silly nose to where it doesn't belong, such actions might be a little much." He raises his head a little, looking down at her from those fire-orange eyes, his smirk showing his teeth.
"Indeed. And you are rather a pretty wolf, it would be a shame to mar you in such a way. And since you are already here, you might as well eat. It's been awhile since my last company, and I wouldn't mind a little news as to what our cousins in the forest have been up to. That is, if you have any news." His tone belies his boredom and amusement at her, mixed with the sarcasm that had been evident from him since he first appeared to her.
He sits, and even in this position his frame is somewhat imposing. "What do you say, stranger?"

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. You males only look at the surface of a female to believe that you can't harm us. I think it should be the respect shown towards you that can at least prevent a horrible confrontation." Sprite had to look up a bit more than at eye level with this male. He was certainly large even up close and personal. Not only that but he was dangerous this close, given that he was at ease with possibly ripping her throat out. Well, he could do it but he would have a huge fight with her before any blood was shed.
Anyways the female wolf watched him and nodded slightly. "I take it that your allowing me to stay for a while as an invitation? Then how about introductions? I don't think it would be very nice to call you Sir Mean Wolf or Mr. Grumpy? Unless you want me to?" It was pushing his buttons, possibly, but Sprite liked to tease those she did come across with and have good company. Then again she had no problem in giving someone a nickname based on how they acted. "I take it that by news you mean gossip. I can see why you would want to know, it's obviously our cousins would need a special invitation to be here in this remote location." Let's hope her being her outgoing self didn't cause her her life with this male here.

Laughter again. "For your sake, it's a good thing I don't attack based on respect, or you might well be swimming with your dinner in a way you least expect."
He moves his tail to curl around his front paws, and tilts his head at her. "Lizard," he says simply. "And what about you, my pretty new guest?"
As the girl speaks, Lizard closes his eyes briefly, and hums-- a sound of amusement. "Gossip, news, it's all the same in the end, really, whatever you call it. Points of interest? I am not always confined here to the beach and the territories I've set for myself. The great thing about being by oneself is that there is infinite freedom to do as one wishes without the thought of others lingering in your mind. But lately, I haven't come across many other wolves to cross words with."
He eyes her slyly and smirks a devilish smile. "And I'm not particularly interested in females, so that, my dear, you do not need to worry about."

Sprite pouted slightly at what he said. "I don't want to swim with the fishes." Came her grumbled replied but she did perk up when the male shared his name with her. "Lizard? I liked Mr. Grumpy better." She grinned at that but shook her head becoming slightly serious in the introductions "My name is Sprite. I'm pleased to meet you."
The female was very sincere in her words as she was pleased to meet someone new. Even if Lizard was overbearing, had this dangerous aura about him and could very well make her swim with her dinner since they were the only two wolves here and no one to hear her fighting call. Ah well, life did know how to throw curve balls at the wolves right? Anyways, Sprite shrugged at Lizard not having interest in females...Wait did that mean... "I take it that you have interest in the males? That's alright you have nothing to be ashamed about. I've heard about other wolves liking the same gender, of course, your secret is safe with me.
Sprite winked at Lizard as if they were planning world dominantion or possibly Sprite was just pulling Lizard's tail to get him to laugh some more. He did have a nice laugh even if he kept looking at her as if she was the deer rather than a wolf. That was slightly unnerving. "How about the food first and then the news report later? She asked as her stomach rumbled it's own agreement loudly for Lizard, and possibly the whole world to hear, causing her to look down slightly bashfully.

"Ha!" The laugh is a sharp, single-syllable bark. "Secret? What is there to keep secret? I don't have any desire to hide from anyone." He snorts again in dismissive amusement, and wonders just how naive the she-wolf to be. Naive enough, he decides. Still.... rather harmless despite that, or perhaps because of it.
"Eat, then. You might as well, seeing as you're already here." He eyes her a moment, his smirk sharpening a bit more as her stomach loudly agrees.
After a few moments of watching her swipe some of the fish from the tidepool, Lizard stretches out on the warm, smooth rocks like one of the creatures of his namesake, his eyes only half open, though as keen as ever. It's a lazy movement, surely, but the strength in his frame certainly doesn't hold up the image, even if it's clear he's not pretending. Lizard does love sleeping, afterall, but he also likes to keep in trim shape.
"Tell me, Sprite, where is it that you come from?" Much further north, he's sure, but the terrain varies depending on where, exactly.

Sprite raised a brow slightly at him and bowed her head respectfully at him, moving on to the tidalpools to search for some fishes. "Perhaps, but everyone has a secret or two that we keep hidden deep down and use a facade to hide it. It's that very facade that we show others." The she wolf might be naive but perhaps there was some wisdom inside her. Lowering herself she carefully watched a fish until it came close enough for her jaws to snap shut on it and took it. Turning to face Sprite the female....Well the female was glad there was a fish flapping in her mouth at the sight of Lizard.
Sure the male was dangerous incarnate and he did laugh at her and possibly thought her foolish. But she couldn't help but stare at how perfectly made he was. If only his character matched it. Well, maybe just a little bit. Mentally shaking herself, the female layed down near him but keeping a safe distance from him and started to eat into her fish when he asked here where she was from. "I'm from the north. Not too far north towards the mountains but much closer to the large lakes. Have you lived here your whole life?"

Lizard merely rolls one shoulder in a sort of shrug at her comment. "Perhaps. But when you've lived alone for as long as I have, there aren't many wolves to pretend to, are there?" Not to say he isn't a master of deception, because he is, and not to say he doesn't lie, because he does. But Lizard hasn't always lived alone, after all. There'd been a pack, once. But Lizard has never really been the pack-going type, either.
"The north... Yes, I've been there before. I've been many places, but the ocean is where I've decided to settle. At least for now. Who knows what the years will bring, come the future."
The larger wolf settles more comfortably, letting the she-wolf eat for a few more moments before he asks, almost lazily, "...What secrets are you keeping, my dear? All this talk about 'facades' has got me curious."

Listening to Lizard the female did eat a few more bites while in her own thoughts agreeing with what he had to say about living alone seeing as she only had her parents that were the closest thing to a pack but they too were loners. Of course her parents did come pack life before she was ever planned to have so she wouldn't know what it would be like to be apart of a group. "Well for one I'm another wolf who you've kindly allowed to be on your territory and take a bit of your fish while possibly pretending to be a good male but who could be someone totally different with me none the wiser. So who's to say that maybe, just maybe, that I'm not pretending with you in my character?" If Sprite was something it was the sweetest wolf in the world with a bit of some monster deep down inside where it only came out with instinct.
Sprite looked up at Lizard, giving him a serene look at his last question, amusement dancing in her pretty in pink colored eyes that also held some form of mysteriousness. "If I told you those secrets, they would cease to be secrets and what could I possibly offer anyone without them? I'm not someone who knows everyone nor am I good in one thing but average at best. I'm good at something but not as boastful as others. Without some secrets how interesting can a person be without being fake?"

"Do you think I've been pretending so far?" He smiles"I haven't really been all that nice, have I?" Though he has been more forgiving and patient than usual. Lizard attributes that, however, to his recent bout of boredom. Besides, he's always found it more difficult to be cruel to females. Not to say he hasn't been, before, but generally not so often.
Lizard laughs a little, then, at her last comment. If nothing else, the she-wolf is amusing. "No... I suppose you're right about that." His eyes dance a little as he watches her, feeling the most entertained he has in a long while. "So, tell me then, Sprite.... how interesting do you find me to be?" Oh, he is shameless, indeed.

Sprite raised a brow slightly and gave a bit of a smirk, pushing her finished fish away with her paw to really relax, even though it was not something anyone should do with a dangerous wolf all alone so let it be a warning to others, yet she curled her tail around her back legs to consider Lizard thoughtfully. "I think your pretending but then again perhaps your so good at it that I could be mistake. Added to just meeting you today will prove to be your advantage in this. But yes Lizard, I think you've been kind enough.
Meaning that he didn't rip her throat out and let her sleep with the fishes like others might have done if they were worked up over her being on their territory. Not every wolf was the same and generous enough so the lovely wolf did think it a blessing to the Gods overhead for that small mercy. Blinking at Lizard it was Sprite's turn to laugh. It was a nice laugh actually that was sincere and amusing rather than others who sound mocking or cynical. Giving the male wolf a once over, a open gesture, the female looked at Lizard with a slight tilt of her head. "If I told you, I might succeed in stroking your vanity and ego into something much bigger than it should be. But since I'm dreafully honest I might as well tell you what I think......"
Yet Sprite didn't immediately tell him what she thought of him. No doubt he might find it amusing and laugh at her, which didn't bother her too much yet perhaps letting someone like him know too much of her thoughts might be dangerous. Of course she did admit to herself that Lizard was a perfectly made male with a bad boy persona going on.
Even though he came off as dangerous he did show he could be kind even to a stranger. Truth betold, Lizard was very interesting indeed. The kind of interesting someone wanted to completely understand like a complex puzzle or a dangerous and complicated maze with death traps and deep pits into the earth if you weren't careful. Then again relaxing here rather than have walked away wasn't being careful so why turn back now? "I think without a doubt, Lizard, that you are a interesting male. That's my honest truth and if you ask me to list your qualities I think your pushing it."
