It was starting to get a bit ridiculous with how early Sailor Iris had to show up at the asteroid. Each week, the sun was starting to rise earlier and earlier. Not so long ago, she would have been happy with any sunlight, but that was no longer the case. Less sunlight seemed to be the best thing for training. Today she had shown up at approximately 6 am to the asteroid, and the sun was already starting to rise along the horizon.
"Sh*t, I don't have much time..." she groaned a bit before throwing her boomerang out. The training itself was decently rigorous, Sailor Iris not wasting a single second of the time. She threw the boomerang, sometimes catching it on the return, sometimes missing it. However, she didn't sit and dwell over a failed return anymore. There wasn't time. Instead, she just kept working. It was when she felt the sweat building up over her brow (right along the tiara on her forehead in fact) that she decided to give her Revenge-attack a shot.
And, as usual, it failed. Sailor Iris didn't care. It was already too hot for the blonde to really care. She flopped into the sand and looked over to the horizon again.
"...th' sun's only halfway up and it's this hot? Son ova' b*tch..." As if feeling too hot to move, she kept staring in that direction. The teen really didn't have any other home worlds to compare against her own, but every time she visited, she was more and more convinced she had been screwed over. Sailor Iris ended up with a desert for her home.
Along the edge of the horizon, it almost seemed as if some sort of cart seemed to fade into existence. It was hard to tell, since it almost looked like a mirage. My mind's playin' tricks on me now, great!
The eternal senshi still didn't want to move, so instead she kept looking over the horizon. And strangely, the little speck that had shown up began to draw closer. And closer. And closer. Until Sailor Iris was no longer looking at the horizon, but instead immediately in front of her as this cart pulled up nearby. The animal that had been pulling the cart was one of the camel-like animals the senshi had seen before in other memories, this one a dark brown color. It turned to face the teen, its jaw moving in a chewing motion.
Out of the wagon popped out two figures. Both were practically fully covered in long robes and long draping head-wraps. The taller one was of tan skin, but the shorter one, who was slightly rounder, had a very obvious sunburn over his face. A splotchy peeling red strip ran over his nose and cheeks. The teen remained laying back, as if watching a movie lounged on some sort of couch.
"You are awfully far north, strangers! You should probably head south!"
Sailor Iris had already figured out it was a memory, but she rolled her eyes the moment she heard her own past voice speak up. That was one thing she never got used to, and more than likely, she never would get used to it.
The sunburned man seemed to light up and waddled forward. "I would have never imagined running into Sailor Iris out here of all places!" The man seemed to be all smiles. However, he seemed to be shifting out of her vision, as if a camera was panning into a different direction. The man was out of her line of vision, and soon enough Aque came into sight. Though the man was no longer in her sights, he was still talking. "I hired this guide so that we could go looking for a Sand Cruncher. I need to get one, but they cost too much back at the Port. I need a deal and they just take advantage of everyone back there! Cheaper to catch my own in the wild." There was a slight pause before he chirped up one more time. "Oh, wow! You have an excellent Sand Muncher! Such a rare color too... you must get a fortune by just exchanging for the wool alone!"
"It's obvious you are not from around here... so I'll tell you right now. Head south. You'll die if you keep going this route." Rather quickly the "camera" went back to facing the man, who now looked as if she had popped his favorite ball.
"What?! How do you know I'm not from around here?!"
The off screen Iris sighed. "Let's see, the color of your skin, the fact you are in the northern region, the fact you need a guide who is clearly taking advantage of you... I could keep going on..."
The man's cheeks puffed up slightly, as if he was pouting. "He's not taking advantage of me... his pricing was fair..." His arms crossed. "He would have told me if we weren't supposed to go somewhere."
It was about this time that the tanned man stepped forward. "Um... I did tell you... several times..."
"How many more days are you hired for?"
The guide held out three fingers.
"So he was hired for 3 more days of wandering around in a place where you wouldn't find any Crunchers? That doesn't sound very fair if you ask me."
The foreigner's cheeks puffed up even more. "That's it! WE'RE LEAVING! Get the Cruncher moving!" In a childish manner, he stomped back to the cart and crawled back in. The guide mouthed what seemed to be an "I'm sorry" before quickly following in suit.
When the two managed to get back into their vehicle, the whole thing faded.
"F*ck... it's hot..." the senshi groaned. She had stayed there to watch some guy have a temper tantrum? Rolling slightly in the dark sand, she pulled out her phone. She punched in a few buttons, and soon enough, she managed beat the heat by heading home.
