There was still a little while before the sun fully set, but Boi had grown impatient. Tonight he felt restless and his cave was simply too small to contain him. Even in the dim evening light, his eyesight wasn't perfect, but it would likely grow darker soon and his eyes would adjust better. In any case he knew the swamp like the back of his hoof and could traverse it blind if he needed to.
Taking the first few steps out of his cave, he breathed in the evening smell of the swamp, a mixture of both pleasant and not so pleasant smells. But it was home, and it smelled like it to him. Exhaling, he moved farther out of the cave, allowing his eyes to slowly adjust to the brightness of the evening.
Not too far behind the stallion, Nefarious crept out of the darkness. The little otter tended to follow his master everywhere and was prepared to get or do anything that Boi might ask of him at a moment's notice.
"Master." He started. "You are up out early this evening. Is something troubling you?" He asked the mutated stallion.
Boi turned his many eyes to face his servant. "I feel restless tonight." He told Nefarious. "Something seems off. I'm not sure what it is but it has awoken me early. Keep look out, I intend to investigate." He ordered the otter. With a nod, Nefarious watched his master disappear into the darkness.
