Unzu stretched in the morning sunlight, yawning and spreading his claws, extending them fully from his toes in a luxurious arch before he straightened, blinking sleepily and shaking off a thin layer of dew from his black fur. He lifted his head, flicking lime green eyes around the swamp that he'd accepted as his home. The swamplanders here had accepted him as well, officially, as a provisionary. It seemed the wandering rogue days of his youth were over. He could hardly believe it.
Glancing down at his sleeping mate beside him, he sighed, leaning down a little to nose a ruff of fur on her neck, simple affection before he broke away and started off into the swamp, stretching out legs stiff from sleep. All in all, he felt good. For once in his life, he had a place to really call his home. While the concept was a little bewildering, he was getting used to it, day by day. The roaming life of a vagabond had been hard on him, but now that he was here, well fed, he was growing sleek and fit, no longer as thin through the ribs and narrow in the shoulders.
He moved through the pride lands, going down to the water's edge to drink. Unzu wasn't usually up this early, but restlessness had driven him from sleep. He'd have to run it off.

Star-specked ears pinned back against white fur as the large lioness prowled forward, her paws moving with such grace that only a swamp native could have. Her legs flexed and her spine curved as she weaved between mossy tree branches and half-sunken tree stumps, the mud below slurping against her toes and ankles. It was still early morning, too early to hunt for breakfast, but that didn't matter. She loved this hour of day, where it was hauntingly quiet and the fog of this terrain still laid low, making the scenery look like something out of a spooky fairy tale.
Twisting her tail as she walked, Mohana turned her bright eyes to the left as her nose just barely caught the scent of fresh water. Ah yes, the watering hole. Hn, but she wasn't thirsty either, and so she continued on her path, moving from the mud to balance across a fallen and soft log in the mud. She knew where she was going, and was in no hurry to get there either.

Unzu reached the edge of the watering hole and bent his head to drink, the black lion's ears pricking up, lifting his head as he heard another moving past the water's edge. The lion started on his run again, following the sound of the noise through the swamp. His lime green eyes picked out the shape of the white lioness in the semidark.
For a moment he just watched how she moved. Though he had lived in the swamp for many seasons now, though not this swamp, he hadn't been raised in one. Her movements were so natural, so unconsciously graceful, whereas his were always a little ponderous with thought, setting his feet carefully to avoid sinkholes and other hazards of the swamp but without the raw effortless instinct of a swamp native. She was beautiful. He greeted her as she leapt onto the log. "Good morning," he called softly, not wanting to disturb her. He simply hadn't met many others of the pride, something he felt mildly guilty about. So far, Unzu had spent most of his time with his mate.

With the soft bend and folds of the moldy wood beneath her paws, the lioness moved forward with hardly a sound. Thankfully she had years worth of practice in this terrain, since even a stumble in the mud could make for a soundly splash. Flicking her tail in a casual and playful motion it wasn't long before she found herself at the far rim of her destination. The sparkling and placid sight of the watering hole....remarkable considering its sloppy surroundings.
One ear flitted to the side in warning, and Mohana's eyes followed to find another feline just several feet away from her. Well, this was an unexpected surprise! Now how did she prowl around and not notice the scent of him being so nearby? Oh well.
"My oh my, you must be fairly new here?" The lioness grinned with both her lips and eyes as she examined the other. She wasn't always present when new ranks were given, but his coat was familiar enough. He was no intruder to this pride. "And a pleasant morning to you as well. The name is Mohana." Remaining on her perch, she lifted a brow at the other as she awaited his reply.
