The warmth of the day would have been stifling if it hadn’t been for the slight breeze that made its way across his broad back, Siciro might have deemed it hot enough to slip into the stream that flowed beside him. Even if that would have been a bit silly looking, a full grown stallion sopping wet because he wanted to play in the water? It was laughable really. Not that this ever really bothered him, he had never really seen the problem with things that were laughable but that was just him.

He shook his head standing there before slowly lowering it to take a drink from the fresh cool water. His mane was short but still managed to fall in his eyes when he lowered his head. This didn’t bother him too terribly much aside from the fact it sometimes poked him in the eye which caused him to shake his head agitatedly. He gave a soft huff causing the water to ripple and gleam in the light. He lifted his head slowly and glanced around him, there didn’t appear to be anyone around… so what could be the harm in taking a slight dip? Just a small one to test the water, it wasn’t deep after all and it was clear and he was rather warm and it just looked so inviting.

He pondered this for a few moments before deciding it really couldn’t hurt. Slowly he pawed the ground, reading himself for what would most likely be a chilly adventure. Then without any further wait he pranced right into the stream, going in until it was up to his underbelly and making a shiver run down his body. He gave a soft laugh to himself as he pranced around slightly in the water kicking it up around him like a foal in a rain puddle instead of a young stallion in a stream. That aside though he was enjoying himself and that was really all that mattered.

They were after her. They were after her for something they thought she had, but she didn't...honestly, she didn't. In fact, she hadn't been anywhere near their village in a few days so there could be no possible way she had what they wanted. And yet they were after her.

"George," the mare began, tearing her gaze from the blackness of the forest and onto her friend, "we have to hide. We cannot let them find us....if they find us well..." She trailed off, not wanting to think about it. Instead her mind traveled to the first time she met her best friend George. She was just a tiny little foal when he approached her, asking her to join him in his world. And so she did. He was a handsome fella, and he was always willing to do whatever it took to keep her happy. The mare loved him, and he loved her...but the thing was, to the normal eye....he was invisible. Only Bertie knew he was there. But now George could be seen by normal eyes. A couple years into her adulthood and the young mare woke one day to find that her friend had gone missing. It took her days but finally she called out his name and he responded...or at least, someone did:

"George?" She remembers calling out. "Yes?" A ferret who looked strangely similar to her came out of the bushes.

"You're not George." "I'm not?" "No you look different." "Well, my name is George." "If you're George, what's my favorite color?" "Yellow?" "Oh my goodness! GEORGE! You've changed your look!"

And now, the mare and her ferret-friend were inseparable. The upside to having a visible friend was...well, other soquili didn't look at her so strangely anymore. It was a lot more reassuring that she wasn't deemed awkward and weird as quickly as she was before because now she had a partner in crime who could back her up. Her world existed and she could prove it. Hell, George could prove it!

But now they were after her and she couldn't go to anyone for help, she had to either defeat them on her own, or outrun them and frankly, the former seemed to be the suicidal way to go. She had to do the only thing she could...she had to hide. Bertie looked at her ferret-friend one more time as her thoughts drifted back to reality. Where would they go? If those who were after her weren't going to stop for days and days, what would Bertie do for food? Water?

Water!!

That's it!

The mare remembered the last time she had a conversation with them. One of the weaker-minded ones let it slip that they couldn't stand water. It was the only real thing that stopped them from pursuing their searches. Yes! Bertie looked up into the sky, the sun glaring down on her as if to give her a hint. It was a hot day today and there was water all around her. If she could just manage to get to a stream or a lake before they caught up to her, she and George would be safe. There was surely going to be other soquili nearby the water as well, right? It was hot, it was the only logical thing to think.

"Water!" She mumbled, and began trotting off in a random direction as fast as her feet would take her. "WAAAAATER!!" Her voice rang out into the sky, riddled with happiness that she was able to figure this out. It took only a minute or so before Bertie was able to hear the soft flow of a stream nearby and not wanting to stop for a second in case they caught her scent, she plowed right into the stream, splashing everything around her on impact.

George followed quickly behind her, being her ever-faithful servant.
