The day he learned to use the computer was the day he found out about the school's instant messaging program. Since his parents didn't live on the campus it took a little while to get signed in, but once he had he was glad it existed. He hadn't seen Zahur in a long time, but they got to talk online, and they had even gotten to see each other at the secret Santa event. Alas, it took a long time to convince his parents that it was a good idea to let him have a friend over every so often.
Needless to say, after months of no contact but Myrtle and Christopher, Tobi was excited to finally see someone nice again. He'd put on a pair of shorts and a turtleneck, along with some cloth shoes and then snuck out to the front of the house to wait for Zahur and his father to arrive.
"Are you sure you'll be okay here by yourself for a few hours?" Eno pulled into the long driveway and felt an immediate nauseous feeling in his stomach. Rich people... they were rarely nice to deal with. "If you get uncomfortable you can call me and I'll come pick you up right away..." he glanced back at Zahur and then parked the car. He looked out at Tobias, who he thought looked rather starved for sunlight. "

Zahur had his hands folded on his lap as he sat in the back seat of the car. He listened to his father's worrisome talk. He knew his father had every reason to be worried; he had issues with rich humans, like his boss. A small frown crossed his face at the thought of Eno's employer, but it was ever brief before the blankish emotion was back. He looked at his father as he put the car in park.
"You will be the first I will contact in case something makes me feel uncomfortable," he said as reassuringly as he could to make sure his father wouldn't worry. He then looked at Tobias then back at his father.
"How strange, it doesn't seem Tobi has seen the light of day in a while. I wonder if he has been sick?" he seemed to ponder aloud as he unbuckled himself and got out of the car and moved to the drivers side.
"Thank you for the ride father. Please try and enjoy your time off, and I will see you soon. I love you." he said, and a small smile danced across his face, and his father would know that was about as happy as the boy could look, and deep inside, he was.

"All right... have fun. I love you too." Eno sighed as Zahur exited the car. He waited for a moment before pulling away, still feeling uneasy about leaving his son at some strange house for a few hours.
Tobias got up from his spot on the front stairs and walked over to Zahur. "It's been a really long time, I'm glad you were able to come over today." He extended a hand as a sort of greeting. "How are you?"

Zahur smiled and took the boy's hand with a nod. There was that familiar voice inside his head feeling. He hadn't felt that in a bit.
"I am glad that I could come and see you," he said as he shook Tobi's hand. "I have been well, and yourself?" he asked with a head tilt.

Tobias's expression faltered for a moment at the question. "Fine, I've been very busy with schoolwork." He nodded his head, choosing not to bring up the subject of his parents. "Mother and Father have me set up in the guest house to prepare me for the dorms... so we can head out there." He kept hold of Zahur's hand and started to lead the other boy out to the guest house in back.

"Oh?" he asked, finding that whole process of thinking rather...odd, but then again he did NOT have a guest house and therefore did not know if that was how his father would deal with such preparations.
"Well, I suppose that works..." he said, more thinking aloud then anything else as he allowed himself to be lead.

Tobi really wasn't sure if he was happy that Zahur bought his excuse, or saddened that his friend didn't think it was too weird to be true. "If we get hungry I have some snacks. Myrtle comes out to make lunch for me, too, so there's always that..." He opened the door and stepped in. Once inside he slipped off the cloth shoes and shut the door behind Zahur. "I got some new figurines, do you want to see them?" A small smile came to his face.

Zahur, seeing Tobi take of his shoes, got to work taking off his own. It was a bit more difficult, what with all the lacing being wrapped up around his ankles and legs, but it was done, and he set them next to Tobi's shoes.
Something felt...off. It wasn't a power of his persay, but it usually never led him astray. This place felt...lonely. It was so far away from the main house, and this Myrtle person only made him lunch...and it was made here. And weren't the dorms with other people? So why isolate him? It made NO sense.
Zahur snapped out of his innermost thoughts and nodded at Tobias.
"That would be nice. I myself haven't gotten much more, but it's enough to please me."

Satisfied with that response, Tobi started up the stairs to his bedroom. "Mother and Father know that I like them, so they get me some once each month if I'm behaved." He nodded his head a little as he opened the door. Truth be told, they bought him the toys to shut him up, and the room was lined with various odds and ends for that purpose alone. "What sort of figurines do you like most? I'm fond of animals..."

Zahur pondered for a moment, thinking about this question.
"I too think I am most fond of the animals. The details are usually much more pronounced in them than in humanoid figures," he said as he looked about for a bit. "I try not to bother father with my desires. We are on a budget as it is, so I wish to not add any more worries then need be, but he brings me home one every now and again."

Tobias frowned a little. Budget? He hadn't really encountered a need for such a thing before... even with his parent's blatant hatred for him, he never had a want for anything, really. "Why a budget?" He seemed genuinely confused, but retrieved a box of animal figurines from the shelf for them to look at anyway.

Zahur tilted his head before peering into the box he brought down.
"Well, father only makes so much money from his job, so he needs to spend what he makes on important things first. Bills, food, clothing all come first. We aren't poor, but he is only one man with a job that does not pay him as well as they should, and there is also my brother he has to care for alongside me, so we need to make sure to not spend so much so we can afford the essentials." he explained as he peered through the box, taking out a figure every now and again to look at it.
"We're happy for the most part. I just wish his boss wasn't so..." he paused for a few moments to find the right wording. "..frugal" That was the best clean word he could find.

Tobias was even more confused by that concept... Did Zahur mean that there was a possibility they couldn't afford food, clothes or to pay the bills? "You mean... you actually have to save money?" He blinked a few times. "I guess... not everyone has lots of money like Mother or makes lots of money like Father... that's weird though. You should be able to have all of the things you want. You're a good person." A frown settled onto his face... why didn't good people always get the things they deserved? It wasn't right... he sighed mentally as he picked up a few of the figurines. "I have some fantasy animals too, do you want to see them?"

Those words left a bitter taste in Zahur's mouth. He sighed as he looked at the animal he was currently holding.
"The only way good people can get good things is if bad people stopped getting in the way and taking all the good things from the good people." He frowned ever so slightly as he put the animal away.
"Yes, I would like to see them," he said with a nod.

Tobias mentally grabbed the fantasy animal box and set it down next to the regular animal box. "Is there a bad person getting in your way?" His eyes narrowed a little. He wouldn't stand for that... Zahur was the only one to really, really keep in contact with him for the past five or so months, so of course he wanted the best for his friend.
