With the coming of Spring and the melting of the snow by the warmth of the sunlight brought abundance and joy to all the woodland creatures. A young filly galloped in between the tight growths of the trees and greenery. A blossoming smile on her lips and laughter escaping from her vocals as she quickly dodged to the right and then to the left. She paused and breathed deeply for a brief moment before taking a look around. The woods today were calm and collective with only a few songs being sung by the birds. The sun was high above in the sky. Akira closed her eyes as she rested her side against a tree to soak up the warmth. It was days like this that she yearned to leave her family and enjoy the day by herself without the nagging sounds and such of her siblings.

Thwack, twack, twack.
The sound rang out clear and strong.
Scrape, scrape, scrape. The loud sounds continued in rotating tandem. As the sun filtered down little rainbows kept getting tossed about. It glinted off what appeared to be crystals, crystals being scraped and beaten against rock and tree. The colt continued his work, unaware of anyone else around him. He took a pause in his work and turned around, he suddenly lashed his back hooves out at the rock. Thwack!

Akira raised her head at the odd sounds being rung out. It sure didn't sound like the songs that the birds were singing let alone any sound that was familair to her. Her auds flickered and her tail swished in curiosity. The young filly raised her head with snorted softly before following the sound. She stretched out her neck and cocked her head to the side to take notice of a colt kicking and scraping at a large rock. How very odd, she thought to herself as she studied him in silence for a brief moment before stepping closer to him. "What are you doing?" she asked and watched as the crystals sparkled being scraped off the stone. "Why do that?" she blinked and pulled her head back with a curious smile.

Glossanor had lowed his head and suddenly ran his horn across the stone several times. Turning his head to get all sides. When done he tossed his head back the sun caught on his sharpened horn and set off a shower of prismatic rainbows. He kicked out at the rock once more before being satisfied. But nearly jumped out of his skin at the sound of voice next to him. He blinked and took a moment to realize what she had said. "Ohhh umm sharpening..."

Akira blinked and tilted her head side to side as she looked at him with a blank expression on her face. But suddenly the corners of her lips curved into a blosssoming grimace and laughter escaped from her vocals. She trotted closer to him and gently nudged him with the end of her snout. "What a silly thing to do," she giggled. She looked down at the small peices of crystals that lay scattered on the ground and then took notice of his horn. "Very odd indeed," she whispered and blinked. Akira pulled her head back and looked to the colt. "You're very odd," she told him with a straight face. There was a soft smile as she spoke to him then. "Why sharpen that horn?" she asked him.

He eyed her, side stepping from her nudge. He shook out his mane and then fixed her with a placid look . He glanced down his nose to the flakes of crystal on the ground. With a crystal hoof he kicked leaf litter and dirt over them casually. He glanced up at her. "I'm no more odd then you are. And I sharpen my horn because my nephew likes to pick fights with me." Gloss snorted. "You're awefully friendly with strangers."

Akira snorted as she tossed back her mane. "I am not odd. Why say such things? Do I look odd?" she blinked as she looked at the young colt. "You're very odd to be sharpening your horn," Akira stepped closer to him. "Doesn't look all that sharp even now. Looks quite dull," she grimaced playfully. Akira flicked her tail as she turned around so that her back faced him. "Why should I feel threatened by you? Like I said before, you seem very odd." Akira laughed softly as she glanced back at him.

By now his ears had flattened back. This filly was like a female version of Monoceros, taunting him like that. It was because of that dang colt he felt the need to sharpen his horn. Glossanor suddenly head butted the filly right in the rear just as she glanced back at him. He snorted angrily at her
. "What gives you the right to make fun of someone else. Are you so bored by your own life you have to belittle others?" He had danced back away from her and was watching her warily. His mother would probably scold him later for hitting a girl but he'd take it in stride.

The young filly's eyes narrowed as she glared at the colt. "How dare you," she gasped out as she turned and took a step towards him. "How dare you assume such ridiculous reasons to think that I'm making fun of you," Akira said with her head held high. "Why must everyone think that being odd and different is such a bad thing? I don't think it's bad at all. In fact I think it's quite extrodinary, " she said with a faint smile. "You're very foolish. You know that, right?" Akira blinked as she pulled her head back with a soft snort. She sighed deeply and shook her head. "Males," she breathed. "They're so typical. Maybe you're not as different as I thought you were," she said. Akira turned around so that her back faced him again. "Should I take my leave?" she asked, glancing back at him.

His ear came up a bit. Boy, his mother would like her. He rolled his eyes at that thought. Standing straight Gloss took a step forward. "When you get teased by another enough times you start believing everyone is too." Gloss tilted his ears forward and then flicked them back slightly. "Starting to think he is just jealous," muttered Gloss."Just..dont leave...I'm sorry for hitting you...umm names Gloss, Glossanor."

Akira laughed softly with the corners of her lips curving into a smile. "It's alright," she reassured him. "I won't hold headbutting a girl against you," she giggled and trotted up in front of him. "And besides. I'm sure we both know that if a brawl was to start than I would at most be the winner," she grimaced and teasingly pulled a couple strands of his mane. Akira released his mane as she pulled her head back. "I am Akira," she dipped her head down in a bowing gesture. "Gloss, huh? Hm. Very odd name," she smirked. "But I like it," she reassured him softly. "So what is Gloss doing so far away from his family?" she asked with a c**k of an eyebrow.

He gave her a dead pan look and then snorted. "Only because I'd let you win to be nice." She seemed to really like getting up close. He stepped back as she nipped at his mane and snorted at her again. "My parents named me, it is rather odd but I wear it well. As for family...I'm of two herds. My father leads one and my mother the other. I'm simply on my way to visit one."
He started walking in one direction. The one she came from. "It so happens Im on my way to visit my father. My nephew/cousin is there with his mother now. " He glanced back her. "What about you?"

"I decided to leave the safety of my herd in search of an adventure!" Akira squeaked as she leaped up for joy. "Although there's not much adventure in these parts of the woodlands. But I promised my parents that I would stray too far away from the herd. Besides I've already seen these parts. Everything is pretty much the same," she kicked a couple stone pebbles with her hooves. A heavy sigh escaped from her vocals as she dipped her head down a bit. "I really want to cross the river and see what's on the other side. The forest there is thick and dense. I can see a couple shadows moving between the trees when I stand near the bank. But Mother AND Father would be very upset if I just swam across the wide river," she said. "Not to mention I don't even know how to swim. So it's a lose-lose situation," she said. Akira blinked and shook her head. "That's what I'm doing out here. My herd is just that way," she pointed the end of her snout ahead. "The Moonlight Herd. That's where I was born and will remain," she smiled to Gloss.

Gloss had looked back the way he came. From across this river. He looked at her. "I came from across the river. A huge valley is over there but outaiders cant find a way in." What she said next got his attention. "Your from the Moonlight herd? That is where Im going!"
