Ren was in the woods and he was not lost, thank you very much. In fact, he knew exactly where he was - namely standing in the middle of a patch of ferns, hands on his hips as he surveyed the pale green plants around him. It was one of those days where he had been feeling not-so-great about himself, and he had spent it mostly alone, not wanting to depress either Gabrian, Alessa, or LW with his feelings of despondency and general gloominess. So he had taken a walk to clear his head, and on impulse, had turned into the forest, intending to find some mushrooms for Jove, perhaps. It had been a while since he had last seen his little brother, and as a thanks he had felt the need to bring a gift.
He had forgotten just how deep in the forest the mushrooms were, and once he had found them, Ren had settled them carefully into the small bag he was carrying and had turned to leave.
...except he was not exactly certain which way to go. Frowning a bit, Ren took a few steps to the right, but that did not seem quite right. So then he went back towards the left...except that did not seem quite right either. Neither did going backwards or forwards, it seemed.
He was not about to admit that he was lost. Under any other circumstances, he might have simply flown up and out, but the trees were heavy and dense, overshadowing any chance of a clean escape. That, and the fact that he did not feel like flying, nor wished to risk running into any branches hidden up there made it all the more out of the question.
Ren would simply have to settle for leaving on foot, it seemed. So he took a deep breath, mentally flipped a coin, and finally chose to go right, tail flicking behind him.

Tybalt was off exploring the woods busying himself by watching a bizarre looking slug, when his ears perked at the sound of rustling leaves and the loud crack of branch breaking against the forest floor. It was loud. Loud enough to startle him into looking around frantically for the source. But after scanning the area, he found nothing. In fact, other than the noise, there was no sign of any creature. It seemed that whatever it was, it was quite a distance away. It didn't stop either. Which only piqued his curiousity more. What if it was some other forest creature? Something he hadn't seen before? If that was the case, he would like to see what it is!
Giving the slug a light poke with his finger, he got back to his feet and gave his pants a light dusting before he wandered off in the direction he figured the noise was coming from. Unfortunately, whatever it was was down wind, making it difficult to pick up any scent. Which, to be honest, made him slightly nervous. After all the events that have happened recently, he was a little more than aware of just how dangerous things are in their world. Even though he was a ghost, his life had been in danger more than once already... What if what he was looking for was something really dangerous..? Something freaky... Something---
"Ren?" He stared blankly at the gryphon confused with his find. It was freaky alright... but the complete opposite of what he was expecting.
How disappointing.
"The hell you doing out here?" He asked, but after taking a second look at him it was quite easy to tell. "Your lost..." He said flatly; looking the other boil directly in the eyes before the unmistakable sound of laughter escaped him. "Ahahahah! You really are a stupid pigeon! You even got yourself lost! Too funny! How could you get yourself lost!? So stupid! Ahahah!" He grabbed hold of a tree to keep himself from falling over from laughing too much; only able to speak again after his fit of laughter had passed.
"Heheh~ I would never get myself lost! Especially in a place like thi--" He stopped in mid sentence when it dawned on him... He didn't recognize this spot of the woods... In fact... He was so absorbed in finding this guy, that he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings at all... "Wait a minute.. this is..." He looked around, but the more he looked, the more he was sure of it.
He didn't know this area.

The first thing Ren had thought when he heard a rustling noise was either A.) He was in trouble, or B.) He was in big trouble. For a few moments he had stood rather stiffly beside a large oak tree, one hand pressed against it, his body half turned as if prepared to run at any moment if it were something dangerous or frightening.
Except Tybalt was, in fact, not scary in the least. Especially not when he opened that mouth of his. Ren scowled.
"The hell I'm doing out here?" he repeated, and pointed a finger (rudely) in the other's direction. "The hell are you doing out here?"
Out of all the people to have met in the middle of the forest, Tybalt was not one of them. He was also one of the few people that Ren sometimes wished he could throttle. Or maybe tie upside down from a tree by his tail.
...that last thought was a little too tempting, especially after the dog started laughing at him, so Ren pushed it aside, reminding himself that the teachers somehow would be able to discover that sort of thing and he would get detention. Considering what had happened the last time he had had detention, Ren was not really in the mood to get it again.
Though it was tempting. So very tempting.
"So what if I am lost?" Ren snapped. "Quit yer laughing, ya stupid schnauzer and help me outta here instead of bein' an idiot about it!"
Glaring at the dog, he was about to just give in and stalk off by himself, but one look at Tybalt's face and Ren realized that they were, in fact, in the same boat. He pointed one finger again (rudely) at Tybalt, a smirk on his face.
"HAH!" he said triumphantly. "Now who's lost, ya great mangy mutt?"
Shaking his head, Ren pushed the little bag of mushrooms he was holding into the pocket of his sweatshirt and slid his hands into the pockets on his jeans, swaggering over to Tybalt with a pointed look on his face.
"So what now?" he asked. "I think going right is the best way."

Tybalt snorted. The answer was obvious. But of course, he couldn't expect much from a stupid pigeon after all.
"What I normally do. Exploring!" He said; sticking his tongue out at the other boil. Though he stopped and glared at the gryphon when he used the little nickname he picked out for him again.
"It's Tybalt for the last time!" He snapped. "Should I start calling you squab!?" He asked, despite being half tempted to start calling him that already. "And why would I help you?" He demanded. "You've given me absolutely no reason to EVER help you!" Being called an idiot didn't help the gryphon's cause much either. Nor did being lost himself.
"I-I'm not lost!" He snapped. "I'm just uhh... Exploring new grounds!" An obvious lie. But he wasn't going to admit he was lost. Not to this guy. Especially after having just mocked him for being lost.
"Right you say?" He gave the other boil a long look before snorting. "If you say right, it means we should probably go left."

Ren gave Tybalt a blank stare. "Where the hell did you get squab from? What is that, anyway? Some sort of weird dog thing?"
The situation was not exactly getting better. In fact, if anything, it was getting worse. Tybalt was absolutely, totally and completely obstinate; Ren had never met anyone as spitefully stubborn as the ghost dog before, and now he just wanted to string Tybalt up the nearest tree by his tail and just leave him there. Except that would probably have been a bad idea. Instead Ren just glared at the dog.
"What are you talking about?" he snapped. "You're the one who started this whole buncha crap. If ya hadn't been so damn irritable all the time, we probably wouldn't even be in this situation right now!"
Or maybe they would, but they'd have gotten along. Staring at the black dog now, however, Ren could not quite picture that. He gave a derisive snort.
"'Exploring new grounds?'" he repeated, and shook his head. "Dude, if you're just exploring then have fun with that."
Ren glanced left. Then right. He narrowed his eyes. "Right is obviously the best choice," he said, pointing. "See? The underbrush is all flattened. That means someone - probably ourselves - walked that way, which means the exit is that way."
Dumb dog.

"Squab means pigeon, ya dumb a**!" He spat; crossing his arms over his chest. "I would have thought you would have known that. You being part bird and all! Then again, I should have known you wouldn't." He said. Giving a huff and turning to look away. Though his attention was quickly brought back at the other boil next sentence. Along with his anger.
"Haaaah? This is MY fault? Hah! Hah hah! That's hilarious! How is it my fault that YOU have a bad sense of direction?" He asked. "Us being on bad terms or not has nothing to do with this! Damn it, Ren! You're so full of s**t that I'm surprised your eyes aren't brown!" He snapped. Though just to be sure, rather than shut up and back off, he approached Ren and took a good look at his eyes. "Eh, close enough."
This was getting them no where and the more they yelled talked the more angry they were getting. But teaming up with this guy to find a way out? The idea made him want to bash his head against a tree!
Though in the end, instead of banging his head against a tree, he chose to lean against one instead. Giving the gryphon an annoyed shrug before he replied. "Yeah so? It could mean a number of things. We aren't the only things in the forest you know and I don't know about you, but I don't make a trail that wide!" If he even made a trail at all.

Ren gave Tybalt a disparaging look that bordered on disbelief. "What kinda moron uses the word squab?" he asked, then glared at the black dog. "Eagle. I'm part eagle. Not pigeon, ya ridiculously small brained puppy! What part of that don't you understand, anyway?"
At first it seemed that Tybalt was walking in one direction, but one word from Ren had the boil stomping back, looking incensed. Ren folded his arms across his chest, glowering down at him. "Who says it's me that has a bad sense of direction?" he snapped. "Who's the one that's stumbling around like a bat in the daytime trying to find their way out? Oh wait," Ren said sarcastically, waving his arms around. "I forgot, you're just exploring. My bad."
This situation was getting nowhere. Ren did not want to go the way Tybalt wanted, and Tybalt did not want to go the way Ren wanted, but it did not seem like the best idea to separate, especially not in the forest, of all places. He folded his arms across his chest and rolled his eyes.
"I forgot, you're too small to leave a trail that wide," Ren said dryly, and let his eyes move across the underbrush, narrowing slightly as he tried to figure out just which direction to go. There wasn't much of a choice, and with a grunt of reluctance, Ren stuck his hands on his hips.
"Fine," he said, and sighed. "You pick which way to go."

"A lot people. Actually I heard 'squab' is quite a tasty dish. Besides, what kind of moron uses schnauzer?" He countered, turning his attention away and snorting at the 'eagle' part. "Please, you'll have to prove that. All I see you as, is a weakling pigeon." He added with a huff, while trying to decide which direction he should take.
"Heh! Stumbling around like a bat? I was only following the racket you were making! I knew exactly where I was before now and if I had payed a little more attention to my surroundings I still would!" He growled in frustration. "And I was exploring!" He added in his defense.
The size comment didn't help to improve the black dogs mood. So rather than answer, he simply stormed off in the direction he had chosen earlier, with out so much as a word in reply. It was up to Ren to choose to follow or not.

"What the Jack is a squab, anyway?" Ren asked peevishly, stalking through the grass in an attempt to find a way out of this ridiculous mess. Out of all the people to have to stumble across and get stuck with in the middle of a forest, Tybalt was not one of them. He'd already thought this, of course, but it kept being reiterated with every word that came out of the black dog's mouth. He scowled heavily.
"If I'm a weakling pigeon, then you're a minuscule puppy," Ren snorted, folding his arms across his chest. "Seeing as how I'm taller than you and all. Shortie shortie shortieeeeeee..."
Taunting was, of course, very mature, but Tybalt tended to bring out the worst in him. "Exploring my arse," Ren said, rolling his eyes. "Suuuure. Exploring until you got lost, is that it?"
Apparently Tybalt was tired of the conversation, stomping off in one direction, and Ren, after a moment of debating internally, finally stomped after him, grumbling to himself the entire time. They both walked on in silence for several minutes before Ren spoke up again.
"We totally passed that rock earlier. WE'RE LOST AGAIN, YA DAMN MUTT."

Tybalt rolled his eyes at the gryphon's question and kept on walking. Was he stupid? Hadn't he already told him what squab was? Must be one of those people where it's in one ear and out the other.
Refusing to answer the same question twice, he continued on in silence. Or at least, he would have, if it weren't for Ren starting up again, this time flat out mocking his height. AGAIN. Though rather than return any snide remarks that he had building up on the tip of his tongue, he instead pushed a branch out as far out as it would go, without snapping, and just as he safely passed by, he let go; allowing it to swing back in the gryphon's face.
"Like I said, I got lost while following the racket you were making." He snorted; picking his way through the forest and avoiding any questionable plants. "Though really. I should have ignored it! If I had, I wouldn't be stuck here with you!" He snapped; turning around to glare. So suddenly in fact, that he almost bumped right into the gryphon. But now that he had, he could only give an angry and confused look.
"...What rock?" He asked, looking around himself, only to snap his attention back towards the gryphon. "Hey! It's not my fault! Maybe if you shut your trap long enough, I could have concentrated on finding our way out of here! But nooooo, you want to continue arguing! And look where that got us!"

Ren had the distinct feeling he was being patronized, but he let it go. For now. Instead he continued after Tybalt, generally being obnoxious. He supposed he could have been the more mature one and actually let them walk in peace, but Tybalt had started the whole thing and Ren was going to finish it.
At least until the branch thwapped him smack dab in the face.
"WHAT THE JACK, YA DAMN DOG?!" Ren bellowed, rubbing at his sore nose. "WATCH WHERE YER WALKIN'."
Clearly this was going to be a very, very long trip back to the academy. If they even managed to survive that long and didn't strangle each other before then, that was. Because right now that rock on the ground was looking very delightful to throw at Tybalt's head.
Ren was good and refrained, however.
"So now it's my fault?" he said, glaring at the dog. "You're the one who was 'just exploring' and calling me a stupid pigeon and other things. Maybe if you'd quit yappin like a mutt we'd have gotten out of here."
This was getting them nowhere, and Ren was not about to be stuck with Tybalt for a long period of time. So instead he waved his arms exasperatedly and stalked off in one direction, not really caring if Tybalt followed him or not.

Tybalt only snorted in response. Obviously the idiot bird didn't realize that it was all intentional. Not that he cared. He would make this as miserable for Ren as he possibly could. That is, so long as he continued to piss him off like he did. Which was likely to be the entire trip back.
"Yeah it's your fault! If something makes as much noise as you do, guaranteed someone is going to check it out!" He growled. "And you're talking as much as I am! So don't blame it all on me!"
Funny thing was, Tybalt was a little shocked when Ren took the opposite direction. Weren't they supposed to be not working together to find a way out? How was he supposed to do that if he took off in the other direction? And not that he'd admit it, but he didn't really want to be lost on his own. Not after all that has happened recently.
"W-wait up!" He called, chasing after the gryphon.
