Anthony Rapp, who starred in Rent and several other plays and movies, wrote a book entitled Without You that was published this month. I read it and found it to be absolutely great and terribly sad. A friend told me I should write a book like it about the death of my mother. But he not only wrote about the death of his mother, but about Jonathan Larson and trying to deal with a dying mother and a Broadway play and a boyfriend, etc.
It's really a good book. I was wondering if anyone here had read it too or would be interested in it at all.

Thank you for posting this, I had not even heard about this until you posted this. I am a huge Anthony Rapp fan. I just don't know when I'll get the time to sit down and read a book! I suppose I could make some time. It sounds really moving.

For anyone who's read it: could you tell us a little more about what he writes about?

My friend Gina got the book and as a matter of fact we were talking about it tonight while we were sewing bells on s**t (costume crew work)
She says it's pretty good so far. It's basically about all the people in Rapp's life that he's been close to that he's lost. His Mother, Jonathan Larson...

I'm pretty sure it is his life from auditioning for RENT on. At least it starts with his lateness to his audition and is continuing on.

I work at a Barnes & Noble.
Came in on my day off to find it and finished it (instead of a math research project...whoops!) in one night.
No shame at all.
Also got it signed. w00t.
Favourite parts, anyone? Mine was the story his mother told him about the one night when he was a baby and their family nearly got murdered on the highway. The guys who had been running other cars off the road and killing the drivers/passengers saw baby!Anthony as his mom adjusted him, because he happened to fall over weirdly in his sleep and she believed that random action saved the whole family.
I just got shivers at that story.
