Castille was outside Destiny City. It was early morning on a Saturday, and the sun hung weakly visible from underneath the fog that rolled in the night before. She sat patiently on a bench, staring out at the river and sighing. She had been hoping that there would be some eagles out this morning, but they seemed to be sleeping in today. It looked as if it were going to be a nice day, but it was still much too cold for her to remove her blue sweatshirt. Her camera, her prized possession, lay across her lap while she stared hard into the mist.
After an hour more, she took a few shots of the foggy riverbed and sighed dejectedly, walking back to the parking lot where her father had pulled up a minute ago. As she got in, she stared down at her camera, a little saddened, but as she looked over the pictures she did take, she smiled. The morning wasn't a total loss.
She spent the rest of the morning with breakfast and showering. Then it was out and about. Tomorrow was Kaylee's birthday. And your youngest sister didn't turn 14 every year. She'd be starting highschool soon...Castille couldn't and didn't want to think about it..
So she walked down the street, the mall her intended location. And it was just as she rounded a corner between Pine and 7th that all hell broke loose.

It didn't seem like there had been any danger around the corner. Everybody was moving along with their lives as normal, trying to head from point A to point B. They were so preoccupied with their daily lives that they didn't really notice the 7 foot long rat-like creature perched like an insect along the side of a building. It honestly looked like it had gone through some toxic waste and mutated into Super Rat, complete with six legs instead of four and a tail that was spiky almost like a Stegosaurus.
Every so often, the youma's tail drifted down, as if preparing to swing at a civilian passing by. However, most times it pulled its tail back, as if deciding that the individual wasn't worth the effort.
For a Youma, it was probably pretty lazy. On the other side of the street, a cat lay in wait. There was no way in hell the little tailless feline would stand a chance against a giant mutant rat, though she imagined it probably was pretty hilarious to think a cat would take on such a challenge. ********* had more sense.
She could not take such a thing on her own. She had tried contacting a few senshi, but they had their own issues to tend to. There weren't any senshi nearby.
Well, there hadn't been. Two ears twitched up as she seemed to sense something approaching on the other side of the road. There was a new senshi.
And it was walking towards where Mr. Rat-face was.
Just my luck... Standing herself up, she then scampered along the side of the road. There were too many cars to cross, but there was a crosswalk immediately to her side.

Castille was also one of those passersby, not looking up at the giant rat that clung menacingly to the side of the building. Instead, she looked down into her largish purse, pulling out her wallet and opening it, counting the cash within. She put it back, and thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She stopped, staring at where the...thing..was, blinking a couple times. Nothing else presented itself, so she shrugged and started to make her way back down the road.
The giant rat blinked, looked down at Castille as she stopped, and hissed slightly. It's spiky tail floated downward and it struck like a cobra, wrapping around Castille's waist. The spikes missed her, but she suddenly found herself captured. She gasped, grabbing instinctively at the tail, and tried to pull it off her. She twisted around, and her scream died in her throat as she looked into the eyes of the giant six-legged rat. Instead, she struggled against the tail, trying to use one of the spikes as a point to grab hold and wriggle free.

It was fortunately the cat's luck that the cross walk was working in her favor at the moment. The light for pedestrians was lit up, meaning there was nothing to stop the cat from dashing to the other side. A couple of people in the crosswalk made a joke about how it looked like the cat was late for a very important date.
Which was actually more truth than anything. On the correct side of the street, she sped towards the current situation. The youma's tail swung down again, but instead of being a tease like it had been all those other times, this time it went for the prey. There weren't any screams of pain (which was a good sign), but soon enough the victim, the senshi-to-be, was snatched up with quite a bit of struggling. The girl's leg dangled towards the concrete in an effort to remain grounded. Rather than wait, the cat jumped up and attempted to latch onto the girl, using that leg as the ladder to the senshi.
Before they were fully airborne, the cat squeaked out an apology as her claws dug into a bit of the girl's leg. "I'm sorry!"
The youma itself didn't seem to be the swiftest of monsters out there. It had lifted its tail in a single lumbering motion, but the rest of it didn't seem very keen on moving. However, one leg at a time, it began to trudge along, seeming to try to rotate itself around so it would face the top of the building, which was inevitably its goal.

Castille wasn't in pain, but the tail was making it a little difficult to breathe. She tried to force her lungs to full capacity, and the promptly gasped and squealed as she felt something bit her leg. Or at least, that's what it felt like. From down somewhere near her tingling leg she heard a faint "I'm sorry!" And wondered just who would be fool enough to grab ahold of a girl being lifted into the air by a monster!
Her brain couldn't quite comprehend when a cat clawed it's way into view, just as her great captor decided to climb the building it was attached to. She stared at the tiny cat, blue eyes widening as she said "Did you just speak to me?"

The Youma apparently wasn't a very swift one. This actually seemed to be working to the guardian's advantage at the moment. From the girl's leg, the little cat was able to hop up onto one of the tail spikes. The movements of the youma were not exactly very sudden aside from that initial lashing out to snatch up the girl, so there really wasn't any danger of her falling a few stories down.
"Yes, I did speak to you! Hopefully you are good at listening." The cat nodded her head one time. "My name is ********* and I want to help you. I want you to hold your hand out in front of me please." The feline's expression seemed to almost read "I'm really not looking forward to what I am going to have to do next." However, there really wasn't any space for her to jump about without falling to her death...

Castille's mouth dropped open. She wasn't crazy? "Bu-but how did you learn to talk?" She stammered "Can all cats talk!? What's with this giant...thing?! Where is it taking us?"
The "thing" was moving quite slowly, lumbering up the building side as if moving was a terrible effort. It still managed to keep a firm grip on Castille however, and the cat seemed to be perched on one of its spikes. She shook her head quickly and shut her eyes, as if closing them hard would make the whole thing go away. But when she opened her eyes again, the cat remained, as did the monster that held her.
"What are you going to do to me?" She asked, wriggling her arm free. She stared at her hand, wondering, and gingerly placed it out in front of the cat.

Moments before the hand was offered to her, the cat replied as best as she could to the questions. "I talk because I need to. I do not think all cats can talk. This creature we are riding is called a Youma. I suspect to the top of this building, considering that we are climbing up the side of the building..." Her eyes glanced up to the root-line that was slowly approaching.
When the hand was finally extended in her direction, the manx pressed her maw into as flat a line as she could. "I am just giving you something that is your property... I apologize in advance for the method..." With that, a deep throaty sound escaped the small cat. It almost sounded like she was about to hack up a furball. Yet, when the cat opened her mouth, instead of a gooey mess of fur landing in the girl's hand, a strangely dry pen founds its way into the teen's fingers.
"We're almost to the top... when we get on flat ground again, you need to shout out 'Grus Power, Make-up!' With feeling. Do not do that until we are on the roof..."
Last thing she needed was for a girl to transform-herself-to-her-death.

Her brain whirled with many more questions as the cat continued to respond and chatter away. The damn cat was talking!?And she was riding a youma..? Youma...the name sounded funny to her, and she mentally rolled it around.
She glanced at the approaching building top, and wondered what the..youma..was going to do with her once it reached it's final destination. What if it tried to eat her!? And then the tail-less cat started hacking.
She pulled her hand back, afraid to catch what sounded like a hairball. But when a pen appeared in the cat's mouth, she let her hand fall under it's chin, and the pen landed in her hand.
The pen was a deeper red at the top, and faded to white at the bottom. There was a gold coin shaped object where the clicker part of the pen was, and an etching of a symbol was seen momentarily when she turned it sideways. "Grus..Power..Make up?" She repeated, looking into the cats eyes. The rat's first set of feet were scrabbling for the rooftop edge, and Castille's heartbeat quickened. "What's going to happen?"

"Yes, that, but with more feeling... but later... on the rooftoh..."
Her words were cut one letter short as the ride more or less evened itself out, meaning they had reached the rooftop. The cat immediately hopped itself off of the spike it had been perched on and onto the roof.
"Do it now! Hurry!"
The Youma's tail began to sway slightly as it lazily tried to curl itself around so it could face the human stuck to the end of it. This snack would be good enough.

The youma evened out, and Castille could feel the ground with her toes. This thing was going to eat her. Or eat the cat. She tried to brace herself, looked at the pen and then shut her eyes hard, shouting
"Grus Power, Make up!"
The light was bright behind her eyelids, and her own voice echoing back her made her sneak a peek. Then her eyes opened fully and she took in what she saw.
Red and white glowing feathers swirled around her body, which had become bright as well. She gasped as the feathers twisted into sleeves that didn't connect to the bodice that was forming around her chest. She kicked up a foot, and a bright red boot topped with feathers appeared in a flash of light. But for all the outer transformation going on, the one inside is what caught her breath. She could feel the power flowing in her entire body, filling her to the brim. She held her breath and when she couldn't hold it any longer, just as she was about to gasp for air, the transformation was over. She stood, Sailor Grus, for the first time.
The youma felt the power of the transformation and hissed, releasing her as the senshi fuku took over. It eyed her wearily now, its beady eyes watering while it bore it's fangs at her and growled.

The cat hopped up onto the ledge of the rooftop, glancing to the side to see how far the world was below her. It would be really bad for the senshi if she had fallen during the journey up the side of the building. Though, there were still chances to screw up.
The Youma seemed to grow increasingly more agitated as the senshi continued to exist. Her existence mocked its own existence. It was not acceptable for her to exist. It would change this soon by claiming her starseed for itself. It would be a delicious treat for it. A long tongue flopped out of its mouth and licked its snout before it's six legs went to work.
The mission: to end the senshi by ramming her off the building, then claiming her starseed from her remains later.
Turning back to the hissing beast, the cat seemed to get an idea as to what the youma was planning.
"Sailor Grus, Call out 'Grus Feather-fall Cloud!' You will know what to do from there!"

Castille stared at the cat with an open mouth, saying "What did you do to me!?" She turned on the spot, looking from the intricate feather pattern on her skirt to the black bow that stood out against all of the red and white. Her hand reached up and she traced a single finger across the tiara that partially hid beneath her blonde hair.
The youma was advancing slowly now, trying to pick up speed. She gasped, and when the cat told her to yell some crazy phrase, and looked back at the furry thing, saying "What is that going to do!?"
Before the cat could respond, she looked at the youma and shouted "Grus Feather-fall Cloud!" her body seemed to move of it's own accord, and she brought her hands forward as feathers swirled around her and then into a beach ball sized mass. It sat in front of her, floating, and her dazed mind felt her hands shove outward. The mass of feathers flew forward and hit the youma in the face.
The youma growled angrily, its large head waving back and forth to rid itself of the feathers.

The cat moved out of the line of fire, away from the direction that the youma had been charging in, away from the feathers that got blasted at the monster, and as a result, away from Sailor Grus.
"Now, get out of its way!" she called from her new spot.
After a few moments of struggle, the youma stopped with its struggles, seeing as it wasn't doing it any good. It resumed with its attack, making its way towards where it had been aiming at before. The senshi was still there, right? All it would take was a simple nudge and her starseed would be ripe for the pickings.

Sailor Grus stared at the feathers dumbly, wondering where the hell they came from. After the cat's call though, she realized that they weren't stopping the youma at all. In fact, it was heading right for her!
She ran towards the cat, and her foot caught on something just as she was getting out of the way. She ended up falling on her brand new black chest bow, gasping as the wind was knocked out of her. She also happened to land directly in front of the cat, and she rolled over onto her back, gasping for air while the youma charged the other way.
