-If there was something that her powerup had instilled in Eternal Sailor Polaris it was strengthening her innate tendencies to teach and mother others. The experiences that had led her to this point both on earth and on the star Polaris had convinced her that it was her duty to show other the right and wrong... to mentor those around her. Whether they wanted it or not. Heck.. whether she was right or not, because goodness knew she wasn't always that despite her own thoughts.
Polaris hadn't actively hunted down Maia, her once teammate, now a member of the team that had partaken in such attrocities against humanity. But perhaps it wasn't a coincidence that she'd been hanging in neighborhoods the two had patrolled before.. and she hardly seemed surprised when her phone chirped, alerting her to the familar power signature being nearby. Pulling out her phone, she inspected it softly before heading in the direction it indicated.-

Maia was patrolling, trying really to avoid actually fighting as, she did not really have the energy or the drive for it these days. No she had to much on her mind and she was wrapped up and the wrong she had helped commit.
She jumped slightly when her phone chirped letting her know someone else was in the area. She looked to her phone and saw it was Polaris. She could feel her near now, but she was different, stronger maybe. Maia wasn't entirely sure. She decided to ignore it putting her phone away and not even noticing the dot that was Polaris heading for her. She had left the team and well she missed them dearly, but that bridge was burnt, most the team did not talk to her anyway.
It made her frown and she decided she did not really want to patrol anymore. Instead she found a tree and hopped up into it. Going home really wasn't an option, afterall she was a senshi and someone always needed saving, but maybe tonight that she could have a small bit of piece and hope if trouble was around it would come to her and she would not have to search it out. Sighing she leaned back against the tree and relaxed.

-There had been a soft twinge of relief that had touched her immedately upon seeing the mark. Sure she'd abandoned them... Just like Castor had before.. Sure Polaris was fairly judgemental and sometimes petty, but it would have been a lie to say she hadn't worried a little about the fate of Black Moon Court members she knew. But the blip on the phone meant that she had made it out.
Usually the object she was chasing was in motion, but since Maia was not it made the process very quick and easy. When she was nearly on top of the dot, she lowered the phone, glancing around in search of the other senshi.-
"Maia!" -She called out softly when she finally spotted the other senshi, lifting her hand in greeting.-

Maia could feel Polaris moving toward her, but she tried desperately to ignore it, curling up against her tree, but Polaris came and she was spotted, so she uncurled and looked down.
"Hello Polaris," she said softly, "long time no see." Her words were the only ones she could think of because what did you say to the teammate you abandoned.
She slid off the branch, jumping down to the ground and standing before Polaris, though not directly. She leaned back against the bark of the tree and gave a weary smile.
"Congratulations," she said referring to her new butt wing bow fuku. And now she waited to see what Polaris's reaction would be. She hoped for something mild.

-Between Maia's departure and the gradual break down of the Bastards Polaris wasn't completely up to date with all that had occurred in such a short time. Had the news of Maia's crystal trickled down to her through other members, she might have had some congratulations and questions of her own, but since she did not, she simply smiled at the comment, fingering the extra skirts as if for a slight moment fashion might have mattered.- "Thank you"
"I would trade it back though if it could have prevented what happened to cause it...." -Subconciously this might not have been the truth, Polaris had always been very proud, but on a concious level she hoped that she meant it.- "There was an attack at the elementary school. So many children hurt... People killed.. It was just terrible."
"Can you believe they would target children like that?" -She was fishing. Sincere, but fishing.-

"Your welcome," she said softly not at all enjoying the awkwardness of the moment. Before, before she would have giddily chatted with Polaris happy to have someone to patrol with, but now she felt like she was on thin ice, which would break beneath her at any moment.
Maia frowned not understanding right away, but then her eyes grew wide with fright when she said an elementary school had been attack. She was over to Polaris in a flash the other's question completely ignored.
"What elementary school, when," she said urgently, her mind flying to Sam, Chibi Ixion. Sam's family had been friends with the Jacobs for as long as she could remember and Lily babysat the boy, their last adventure leading to them finding out each other's senshi secret.
Maia was praying it wasn't Knightside, even though Polaris had been there, she still hoped it was not Sam's school.

-Oblivious to Maia's connection with the school, she didn't attempt to soften the blow, answering simply as the other girl drew closer to her finally. Any reasonable person would worry about children, she had no reason to think that one of the children might have been related to her. Or even.. that one might have been fighting along beside her.- "Knightside, just the other day. The school has been closed for a few days because of it.." -For such a big event it had seemed swept under by some part by the news, a mere mention as opposed to the coverage one would usually expect for that sort of thing. Perhaps it was to try and sooth parents as opposed to scaring the living bejesus out of them. It certainly scared Aurora.. to think they'd stoop so low. The fact that the whole thing had started as an energy draining that had gotten out of hand was lost on Sailor Polaris.-
"I've been teachers aiding there a few days a week for college credits so I happened to be there when it happened..."
"I called for help and you know who came... FOUR chibi senshi" -She was giving this information more out of habit, both because she hadn't gotten to share it with anyone else yet and because the idea still bewildered her.- "I wonder where all these little ones are coming from? It's almost like a bad joke."
-Not that she could say they weren't helpful... certainly.. she'd never had done it herself and the young ones had proved themselves in heart and will alone.-

Maia was frowned at the confirmation, but if it had happened a the other day then maybe Sam was fine. Surely her parents would have said something if he wasn't, though Maia hadn't exactly been spending any amount of time with them. Her head went down and she shook it lightly, but it instantly popped back up at the mention of the chibi senshi.
"Oh," she said, "Ixion, Chibimoon, Hugbell, and Hypnos yes. I have met or at least seen each at least once. I know that Hubell and Ixion were awakened by *********. We once discussed the awakening of chibi senshi, I did see why one should drag a child into this war, but the attack on Knightside, makes her words ring more true. A chibi senshi is a child that has the chance to defend themselves against the negaverse. How many children have died at their hands? We do no know, do we?"
Maia sat on the grass frowning deeply, "even still, this is bad, to attack a school, an elementary school is going way too far. It was lucky you had been there, but had you not, then what?"
Maia put her head in her hands, "I feel like a fraud, an enabler, "she whispered into them, "I have been running while children fight." Maia hated the truth of the words, but still wasn't sure she could bring herself to fight after what had happened, after what the BMC had done.

"Chibimoon wasn't there" -Five.. that made five of them! Though granted.. the little moon princess seemed more to be walking the line between the chibis and the 'big girls'. She seemed older atleast then Hugbell and Hypnos. Maybe Ixion was closer to her age? It was hard to tell with the magic of henshining.-
"It was another really small one. Orange hair. Hygeia." -Whether she'd heard the name in the mess of a day or she'd picked it up in the next days she wasn't quite sure of anymore. The whole situation had driven a need inside the senshi to return the favor the younger senshi had done for her. To watch their backs and come to their aid if they needed it.
She obviously agreed with Maia, nodding solemnly to her words. It was a disaester.. but it could have been so much worse.
As Lily disapeared into her hands Polaris couldn't help but cringe very lightly. Her inner self wanted to reach out and wrap her arm around her, to comfort her and tell her it was okay. But.. she was right. Maia WAS an enabler. Granted she didn't know enough to truely know all that had happened within the depths of the Black Moon Court she knew enough that some morals were tromped all over. That atleast for a moment Maia had been part of something that was downright terrible.
In the end her hand settled on Maia's shoulder, resting lightly even as the words she spoke cut.- "You'll always be judged by the company you keep and carry the same burden as them." -They were the kind of words that severed ties, and yet.. her hand still lingered there softly. Noone was past redemption. To turn away from helping someone in need.. well that was morally wrong too.- "We all need to look out for each other though. And for the kids"

Hygeia, the name rang out in her mind, she hadn't known about her, but it didn't matter. It did not make ********* words any less true. Her head remained in her hand and the tears she tried to hold back slipped down freckled cheeks and she was silent for a few minutes, even after Polaris hand settled on her should even after she spoke. She took comfort in the jesture from the friend she missed so dearly.
After a few moment she looked up and nodded, "I am well aware of that. I never imagined the decision I made would lead to what happened. You probably do not know the whole story do you."
She paused taking Polaris hand for a moment to show she appreciated the jesture, but then pushing it away. She did not feel right now, that she deserved such comforts. "I am a cadet in the Blood Moon Court, so usually I am not privy to all information, but I was apart of what happened. I helped plan it and was at the meeting after it was accomplished. I was excited about the prospect of getting information from the negaverse, but everything went so wrong. Senshi are suppose to fight against the darkness, but ... but .."
More tears spilled as Maia hung her head, not wanting to continue, "... the screams Polaris ... one of them died at the hands of a senshi, not for trying to kill said senshi, but because ..."
Her words died off again and she did not speak anymore.

"I know..." It was soft reassurance, whether or not Maia needed it as she expressed her dismay. From knowing her Polaris knew her to be a good person deep down. She listened silently as the details unfolded, biting her lip gently as the red head trailed off. Even the thought of it was horrible.. being there must have been... Unimaginable.
There were always those out there that took things to far.. that were willing to step beyond the bounds of laws and morals to get things done. She would have hoped that senshi, guardians of light and justice, would never have fallen to it. But it was human nature wasn't it? Her voice remained hitched in her throat for a long while, her eyes closed as she let the information sink in.
There could be a time in the future.. a time when senshi would have to fight against fellow senshi. To fight for what was right and what was good. Now that she knew for certain what the group was capable of.... To sit back was the same as Maia sitting back. She would not be the hypocrit that stood and scolded another while she did the same thing. And yet... it was a lot to think about. Something not set for a snap one night decision.
When she finally spoke her words were simple and matter of fact, as if the choice was easy. Clearly she knew not what she was really asking of the other girl. "Just leave them Maia"
"You know that we're all here for you and that we'll help you."
"We all make mistakes, but there is always a way to make up for them. A way to redeem ourselves"

Maia looked up her eyes shining with tears, but then he looked changed to one of indignation. Polaris said they were there for Maia and that they'll help her. She felt angry wanting to know who they were because she did not know. Her fist balled and the tears streamed down her face.
"It's not that simple," she said looking away," at least I'm not sure it is. its not like the Basterds." She huffed irritated and not liking the feeling of unrest and guilt she had now.
She looked up at the sky wishing she could turn back the clock, "A year a go everything was so much simpler. I had no idea of this war and now I feel like a murder and I just want to avoid the negaverse. I want there to be another way. You say there is always a way to make up to redeem ourselves, but what about them, we fight them, even ... even ... kill them and we aren't entirely certain what they are even fighting for. There has to be another way."

Maia looked away but Polaris could see and feel the anger. It was frusterating.. and enough to draw a frown across her face. Why couldn't the other girl understand. It WAS that simple. If the other group was bad then quit being a part of it. Good back to doing things in a righteous way. Maybe she'd lose friends.. the same way she did when she'd left the Bastards, but did that really matter if it was the right thing to do?
The question sounded, one that was common in their line of business, one that she'd even asked herself from time to time. "It's unfortunate that we have to fight them at all. If it wasn't necessary then most of us wouldn't be here. But you have to remember how this all started."
"Even if the lines have blurred you have to remember. The negaverse attacks regular people on the street. They send out monsters that hurt and kill people.. that destroy property and lives with no provocation at all."
"It doesn't matter why they are doing it. What matters is that they are doing something wrong and we need to stop it." The same could be said about the Blood Moon Court in her opinion.

Maia frowned at the words and stood, "I remember Polaris I really do, but I just wish their was another way. Another way to defeat the negaverse without killing them. Even those not apart of the court believe they have to be killed, but I would like to think that maybe, just maybe that isnt the case."
She looked up at the stars and then summoned her phone looking down to see what time it was. "I agree, everyone agrees they need to be stopped. Stopped from taking over the earth, stopped from plucking starseeds right out of senshi chest and corrupting them. I don't understand it. If they can corrupt us why can't we un-corrupt them. It's just seems very odd."
She looked to Polaris with a sad smile, "I have to check in soon, or a rescue party will be sent to find me. First though you must promise me something Polaris."
She paused for a second before continuing, "What you have heard tonight. What I have told you, you must never tell another soul. Polaris, I am under agreement to keeps these things to myself and telling results in punishment, what I do not know. But if someone were to find out, well I don't know. Please, promise me. Promise me you won't tell, for old times sake."
She couldn't really wait for a response, instead she turned and ran, not really wanting this confrontation to go on any longer. She missed her friends for sure and she knew what she needed to do, but she just couldnt bring herself to do it. Not just yet.

"Maybe we can find another way" She regarded finally after a moment of thought. "But I don't think you're going to find that answer were you are now.." A group that could murder so callously.. she doubted they had any interest in finding out how to SAVE their enemy. No.. slaughter seemed much more the style.
"If I find out anything.. I'll let you know okay?" It seemed like an idea beyond hope... but maybe it wasn't so beyond it. The battle would certainly be easier if they turned enemies to their side.. instead of just whacking away at an enemy that grew bigger and bigger with every blow they struck.
Her eyes narrowed softly, curiously as Maia requested a promise. But when it had sounded, she was quick to nod. "Of course. I promise."
"I'd never do anything to put anyone in danger on purpose. Especially not a friend.." Maia was already gone though by the time she'd finished, and Polaris carefully watched her blip on the phone until it dissapeared.
Perhaps there could be a way to save the negaverse... but even if not.. there surely HAD to be a way to save Maia.
