Ayudame.
The single word of the e-mail, in association with the sender's name, was enough for Aila to know what she needed to do. This was a possibility she had been waiting for - planning for, even - since she had met Inigo and learned about his research. She found it difficult to look at the situation as an opportunity, though. Instead of promising, the circumstances struck her as dire, and rather than to seize a chance, she was working to help a friend. It took a few days for the agent to clear her schedule to the point that she could take the time to head into the Cypress Forest, the setting sun guiding her towards the designated meeting location. She stopped at the edge of the wood, recalling her Metagross transport into a pokeball and proceeding into the thicket on foot. The sun had yet to full find its way below the horizon before she emerged in the clearing that surrounded the lake, its waters afire with the dying sunlight.
"Inigo?" She glanced around, slightly out of breath from a hurried pace. Her dark clothing, designed to be easy to move around in, alluded to her task for the evening.

The clearing into which Aila emerged, at first glance showed no signs of containing any sort of camp. If she looked more closely, however, she might notice how the grass close to a nearby tree had been flattened, and the remnants of what could have been a fire were strewn about several feet away. The upper part of a neutral-colored backpack peeked out at the young agent from behind the tree close to what was at one point a camp. A quiet, subtle rustle from the branches of that tree hinted at the prospect of something - or someone - hiding in it. This hint turned into fact as a soft voice, distressed and confused, floated down from the leaves. "...Aila?"

The little suggestions strewn about the clearing were drawn to her attention by the voice from the trees, and she took a few quiet steps in the direction of that voice, nodding, "I got your message." She furrowed her brow slightly as she attempted to find the next words to say. The night was young, but time was always of the essence in these sorts of operations, and there were things that needed to be discussed before they could proceed. But even so... "Are you all right?" There was at least time to ensure he was well, both physically and mentally. The message he'd sent had been curt enough to worry her.

There were several reasons why the e-mail he'd sent had been so short, and lack of time had been the largest. There was much too much to say with little to no time during which to say it. He'd been hoping to see her that first night, but wasn't surprised when she didn't come. The night before was much more worrying, so he was immensely relieved - for a few brief moments, at any rate - when he'd heard her arrival tonight.
Unlike their first meeting, when he descended from the tree this time he simply jumped, landing on his feet and bending his knees to cushion the impact. Instead of straightening up, however, he immediately flopped back to slouch against the tree with a sigh, reaching up to cover his face with his hands as he drew a slightly shaky breath. While he looked fine physically, it was also fairly obvious from his posture and tone that his emotions were another story entirely. "Fine," he sighed quietly, brows furrowing behind his hands. "Got expelled. Guess 'm not really surprised." No, there was no surprise in his voice at all. An amalgam of other emotions, but surprise was clearly lacking.

'Fine,' he said, even though he clearly wasn't. Aila was slightly irked for a short moment, but the situation at hand was more important than berating him over the virtues of honesty - never mind the irony that would accompany such a lecture, given her standing. She approached with quiet, nearly silent footsteps, pausing a short distance from the tree and, by property of association, from Inigo. "What are you going to do now?" she asked, tone gentle. "Do you have a plan?"

"No se," he replied with a sigh and a slight shake of his head. He had no plans, no ideas - he couldn't even face his parents after being expelled. The shame he felt for his expulsion - because the only thing he regretted about his research was that it was discovered and confiscated - was such that he didn't want to go back home. But where could he go? It wasn't like he had any other family on Kodo, or even whatever region he was originally from, which he didn't even remember anymore. It didn't matter at any rate, he supposed..
"I don't.." He paused, lowering his hands from his face and focusing on them, brows furrowed. "I don't have a plan. I don't know.. I..." He turned his head to peer up at her, his expression distraught and confused. He hadn't felt this helpless in forever, and it felt horrible.

A half a step forward accompanied the extension of her hand in invitation; her expression, though serious, was encouraging. "I have a place for you, but you must listen to everything I say before you make a choice." Her posture was straight, an entreating quality finding its way to her words, "I mentioned before that I work with a lab that researches pokemon. This was only partly untrue; the organization I represent does in fact research pokemon. Also, we're a bit less concerned with the morality of our research than your university. You would be welcome - encouraged, even - to continue your investigations with us."
There was a shift in her voice as it took on a more cautionary quality, "However, there are serious implications attached to your accepting this invitation. The most significant are that you will be start at the bottom in a rank-driven hierarchy," she hadn't thought this a noteworthy point in the past, but her previous recruit had proven otherwise, "and that if you accept and come with me, you will not be able to turn back. This is a lifelong commitment." She paused, waiting to hear his thoughts or questions.

His expression remained unchanged - save for his eyebrows raising slightly more from concern than anything else - during the length of her explanation. When she finished, he turned his gaze down to the grass in front of him. He couldn't fault her for not fully explaining her employer - not that he'd really asked for that much detail anyway - especially considering what he was hearing now. An organization that wouldn't look down on his research or call it immoral - an organization that would even encourage it. He couldn't help but wonder what organization this was, though he had a pretty good idea of its morality at this point - especially at the mention of a life-long commitment. Was this sort of like all those spy movies he used to watch with his dad, where it was one of those 'join or die' things? Or, well, in this case, leave or die. Not like it really mattered anyway, considering he had no where to go at this point except stay in the woods forever. As much as he loved the forest, he had no desire to live the life of a hermit without his pokemon.
He was extremely tempted to say yes immediately without even thinking, on the condition she help him get his pokemon back at least, his research would be extra. It wasn't anything he couldn't do again, but his pokemon were different. Somehow, though, he got the impression that rushing into such a decision would be a bad idea, and also something Aila wouldn't want him to rush into. His brows furrowed again before he peered up at her once more. "What else do they do? Besides research." He had a strong feeling they did more than that, though he had no idea of the extent of their actions.

That was an intelligent and reasonable question, and the silence that preceded it alongside the question itself proved that he was considering it seriously. "Our departments are divided amongst research, stealth, technology, information, combat, and others. Much of our work involves acquiring pokemon - not always through entirely ethical means. Our last significant capture," her volume lowered instinctively, "was the legendary pokemon Kyogre. Before that we obtained a specimen of a Ho-Oh's egg."

At the mention of the two legendaries, his eyebrows rose instinctively in surprise. Had he felt more like his normal goofy self, he probably would've been much more excited about the thought, and might even have said something close to 'no freakin' way!' As it stood, however, he was not, so he did not. It made sense, however, that the organization wasn't too ethical if they would encourage his research. Despite his questions and the fact he was thinking about it, most of his focus was on Leilani and his other pokemon, and his desire to get them back. The prospect of being bound to this unethical organization for the rest of his life or face unfortunate consequences probably should've weighed more heavily in his mind, but for better or worse, it wasn't. Even so, his options were painfully limited to the point where it didn't matter. "Alright," he said after a thoughtful pause that was longer than he'd realized, and turned his head to look back up at her, expression still distressed and now perhaps even a little pleading and hopeful. "But only if.. if you help me. They took everything. Everything." His expression faltered slightly, which might have been a good indication they took more than just papers and files.

The change in his expression was the first explanation for why Leilani wasn't at his side at a time like this. Aila had expected that the research would be confiscated, but the thought that they had taken his pokemon as well was not only surprising but unacceptable. Yet she shook her head 'no' at the condition, "Let's not make it an exchange. I'll help you - I came prepared to help you, actually," she spared a momentary gesture at her ensemble, a rough imitation of the stealth suit she wore for missions with enough implication of amateurism that it would draw attention away from the suspicion of organized crime, "and once we've succeeded, you can answer me." Once the pressure was off and he could breathe freely and make a rational decision.

The shake of her head was immediately interpreted as the worst possible reaction, that she wouldn't help him, but his fears were not only alleviated, the decision to join or not was also put off until after. Her gesture was the first time he actually really looked at what she was wearing, and one brow raised in mild curiosity. She also didn't say if they succeeded, she said when they succeeded. When. "Do you think we'll be able to?" Wait, dumb question. The organization she was a part of had captured Kyogre and a.. what was it? Ho-oh. A Ho-oh egg. A university should be no problem for someone from such an organization. Still, he didn't want to be a useless lump, so he had to figure out some way to be helpful. Maybe his slingshot? Maybe. "Alright," he agreed with a nod, finally pushing himself up to his feet. His tone and expression, though still worried about the situation, held no more traces of anguish or hopelessness. "So.. what do we do first?"

A faint smile, confident and reassuring, played at her lips. "Of course we will. We'll be done in no time." A proud 'who do you think I am' pressed at her words, but she kept it down. There were important matters to address, and boasting would do nothing to address any of them. Slipping her backpack from her shoulders, she drew out a series of papers and moved to show them to Inigo. They were maps of the school's interior, pulled in advance from various websites. She had annotated them with speculations on their security systems, a specialty from her days in jewel theft. "First, we need to know where we're going. The key to this sort of operation is getting in and getting out, so we need to know where in the building they'll have stored your pokemon and research. Even narrowing it down to a few locations is better than blindly guessing." She turned expectantly to Inigo, hoping he would have something to offer on the subject.

The maps were met with a surprised expression, though at this point, he figured, he should expect anything. Without further ado he gently pulled a couple of the papers into his hands, green eyes flitting over the rectangular shapes that represented different buildings, which thankfully he was familiar with. "Uhh," he paused, brow furrowing momentarily, "probably the science department.. I can't imagine they'd turn everything into the head of the school, so science is probably our best bet... Here," he pointed to one of the buildings on one side. "This one. I'm not sure where everything would be in there though.. Might be in the department head's office.. I don't know where else everything would be besides somewhere in there." At least they had one building to focus on instead of.. however many there were.

"Very well, we'll concentrate our efforts there then." She folded the maps away quietly, replacing them in her bag. "I'll be relying on you to lead the way," she said, rose eyes flitting upward from the backpack to regard him, "so ideally we'll stay together, but in case something comes up, would you mind if I entrust Duvet to you?" She held up the pokeball indicatively. "He knows GrassWhistle, Stun Spore, Leech Life, and Mega Drain. He'll be able to protect you if something comes up." She anticipated that Inigo was less than familiar with such covert operations, and she wanted him to be able to escape if he ran into a threatening situation.
