It was a glorious, dazzling sunset in the Dawnwalkers' lands. Itsaso lay sprawled on her side on a sandy stone. Her tail flicked back and forth, occasionally shooing flies or soothing tickles in her fur. The sinking sun bathed the world in pinks and reds, and she sighed. She liked this time of day. The red sky, the pink clouds...she wasn't a romantic, but she did agree that the colors matched her and her sweet Sant'Iris perfectly. If there was any clue that they were meant for each other...well. She'd decided that anyways long ago.
She let out a yawn, sharp teeth flashing in the dusky light, and she dragged herself to her feet with an 'oof' of effort. Her bulk was considerable, and she was prone to laziness, but that was okay. Iris loved her how she was. Eager to be back home, she jogged lightly towards the den, and slid inside to flop down. She liked bed time. Resting with her sweetie...it felt nice.
Iris wasn’t really doing too much in the den that late afternoon. He had already done his work in the midmorning so there was nothing else to do. He could of made some jewelry in his free time but today he felt like just hanging around. It didn’t help that his sweets had left to go Hunt, or he believe was hunting to him. He wanted her to come back soon because then they could just snuggle.
Just as he was thinking about her she came. It was like they where just meant to be together. If this wasn’t true love then he didn’t know what was. He smiled and moved over to grab her in a hug.
Itsaso rumbled with happiness at the sight of her dear Iris waiting for her in the den. Perfect. Really she could ask for little more in this life. Maybe for her adoptive mother to harangue her less, but eh, even that was fun in a way. She let him tug her into a hug, flopping down beside him on the cool stone floor. The den was near the ruins, along with the rest of the pride's homes, and mostly made from the same carved materials. Some were caved in passages to other parts of the ruins, some were half dug out of sand. Either way, they made a comfortable, cool home in the hot desert.
"Done working already? Oh, and here I planned to watch you at it." She teased him. Watching or snuggling, just being together was nice. She stretched her neck to give him a lick on the cheek before lying still again. Mmm, yes. She hoped he'd say he was done and just wanted to relax. It'd been a long hot day.
He smiled and wag his tailed a little bit. It was a sign that anyone was happy but it was more for a dog. It didn't bother him he did look like one because he was next to his love. He watch her flopped down on the cool floor and smiled. It was made out of stone, they where lucky that it was made out of stone. The could of have a den made out of only sand. They where lucky and happy and that's all he care about.
He freeze and smiled and rubbed the back of his head. " Yeah, I'm done. I've been done for awhile....It's that ok?" he said looking other too her. He wasn't sure what she wanted for him to say but he hoped this was the right answer.
Iris was so sweet. She smiled up at him and moved her tail to drape it over his. "It's fine. Really I just want to spend the evening with you. Watching you work is nice too...I don't really care though, just so I get to be with you." She was a little possessive, which usually accounted for her being interested in being around him, but also she did genuinely love him. She enjoyed just being near him.
"Tell me what you made today? You don't have to show me, or say who for. I just want to hear your voice." She moved her head and put it on her hubby's legs. Ahh...the perfect pillow!
"Oh" he said with a half smiled and laugh. Pew! He didn't say the wrong thing. He always worried that Itsa would get mad at him if he said the wrong thing but then he would think about there relationship and not worry as much anymore. He move close to her and gently lick her cheek.
He smiled. She always knew what to say to make him smile. Who else would just want to her his voice. No one that's who, expect for her. He smiled and lightly began. "Well....not too much," he said with a blush. He wish he had did more, then he could talk a bit more but of course the day she ask to listen he didn't do a lot at all. "Just a few necklace. Both in the color of the palm leaves." He said looking down to her. He hope he wasn't boring her.
She shifted and smiled at the sound of his voice. She paid attention, and just relaxed. Poor thing. She knew he worried about her being angry with him--she didn't think she ever could though. He was so ridiculously sweet and kind, she would have to be a real fiend to do him any harm.
"They sound nice. If I was doing that work, I'd get...maybe one done in three days. My paws are too big, too rough for that." It was true. She held one up to show the calloused pads. Scratched and healed and rescratched from running on the hot sands and stones, battling with prey for its life. She wasn't deft with them at all, for anything other than killing, really. But that suited her just fine.
He looked down at her, once he was do to see that her full attention was his. he smiled and lightly again lick her nose. She was so nice, she never was mean to him and he wonder why he worried so much.
As she talked he frown and shook his head. "That's not true. I'm sure with some help you would do fine...." He hope that didn't sound mean but with help anyone could do it really. Looking at her paw he frown again. He softly took it and gently started to lick it. "No rough, just right. Just how I like it. It's perfect." he said with a smiled. Gently making her paw rub his cheek. "Beautiful actually."
She was a little surprised when she felt him take her paw and press it to his face. Since when had he become so bold? Maybe she was rubbing off on him...It was a good thing. She rubbed her paw gently over his cheek and neck. "Naw, I'm not perfect. But I'll try to be, for you. Be patient with me, okay? Even if it takes forever."
She chuckled. "I'll make you something to wear someday, I promise. It might not be very good, and it might break, but I'll do it. How's that sound, huh?" She snuggled up closer. Yes, even if it took forever, that'd be okay. Because then she'd have an excuse to stay by his side for that long. She liked being with him, and she'd find any excuse...she smiled, thinking that she didn't need one anyways.
He purred lightly at her own touch and smiled gently. It was nice to see that she wasn't conceited but in his eyes their was nothing wrong with her nothing at all. She was his everything and to him she was absolutely perfect. "Yes, Itsa but in my eyes you're already there....Is that ok?" he said looking up to her a bit worried.
He smiled. That what he love about her, that she never gave up. He gently move close and lick her cheek once again. "I will wear it and I'm sure it will perfect because you made it." he said with a smile. He laid back and gaze into her eyes. It was wonderful when they spent time like this.
