It was a sunny Saturday afternoon. Samson Colt was out, laying in the grass of the small park downtown park. He was searching in the grass, not for anything in particular, just admiring the blades of grass and the few bugs that were crawling around. In his hand was a large magnifying glass. The glass was pressed up against his eye as he scanned the ground. The boy wasn’t doing anything malicious, as some boys might do. He was just basking in the sun, observing the wonders of the world.

Looking up, magnifying glass still held up to his brown eye, Sam spied a familiar looking figure in the distance. The sun caught her red hair, making it look radiant. The boy’s jaw dropped. He had seen this girl before, he was sure! The red-hair was oh-so familiar to his dream girl’s. Was it the same girl?

From a distance, he thought so. Getting up from his spot, Sam casually walked across the park. Whenever he saw the girl look his way, he quickly tired to act natural. Sam just had to get closer to find out if she was the girl from his dream turned into reality. Eventually, he stalked his way near her and perched hidden behind a tree. Even at the closer distance, the boy couldn't be certain or not if the red-hair was the right girl. She certainly looked kinda familiar, but something was off and the details of his dream were now fuzzy, lost to that fantasy world.

The girl in question stood staring straight ahead of her, a hand on her hip and the other holding the net that she slung against her shoulder. She wore a look of puzzled concentration as she watched the dragonflies dance before her. She was trying to decide if she had caught those ones before, or ones of the same color, or not. It was difficult for the dual-eyed girl to be able to distinguish because they darted around so quickly.

She didn't notice Sam sneaking up on her even as she stepped forward, lime green rain boots squeaking as she stepped. The wind caught her pale green sundress, whipping it back along with her red hair. It was a rare time when she was dragonfly hunting that her hair was down but it was all too similar to the time she was in Elysion, henshied up right before she was pulled from dream world by dawn.

The dragonflies darted past her and she turned on her heel chasing after them, unknowingly heading straight for Sam. She chased the flying insect before swinging her net in an attempt to capture them but at the last minute they darted away leaving her stumbling.

Instead of catching a dragonfly, Fiona caught a boy. When she stumbled, Sam moved out from his hiding spot in an attempt to catch the redhead. Instead her weight against his caused them both to fall down in the grass. The boy was trapped under her, with the net slightly over his brow. “Uffh.”

The sun was shining brightly down, at just the right angle to blind the boy for a moment. As he looked up at the girl, all he could see was the silhouette of a face and red hair.

When Fiona collided with Sam she was surprised as she fell hands shooting out to catch herself instead of crushing the young boy. Unfortunately for her, her hand slipped on the grass and she landed on him net resting on his brow. She had let out a startled squeak even as she scramble to get off of him. Her cheeks flushed red as she scooted backwards and sat on her knees.

"Are you okay?" She asked brushing her hair back behind her ear. "I'm so, so sorry. I wasn't...I..." she stumbled over her words her net having been long since discarded as stood up, brushing off her dress and offering her hand to him. "I just, sorry." She smiled softly at him.

Propping himself up, Sam got a better look at the redhead. The hair was the same, but a bit messed up from the fall. The eyes were definitely the same, it wasn’t every day you say someone with two different eye colors. But something just felt off about the whole thing. The girl looked right, but Sam couldn’t help but feel that maybe it wasn’t the girl from his dream. He felt sheepish, and silly, stalking a girl and colliding into her just because she looked like some dream girl, one that probably isn’t even real.

Taking her hand, Sam pulled himself up off the ground. “It’s okay. I’m okay. Don’t be sorry. You didn’t see me.”

Though Sam felt like this was the wrong girl, he couldn’t help but stare at her with his large soft sugar brown eyes.

If only Sam knew the truth, that he was in fact meeting the girl in his dreams. It was knowledge that Fiona herself did not know and perhaps would never know as a result of the glamor given to them whenever either henshied up that hid their true identity. While he felt sheepish and silly for following her in hopes that he was the girl he had seen in his dreams, Fiona felt equally as silly for nearly crushing a young boy beneath her because she simply had not been paying attention to anything in her surroundings other than her dragonflies.

"That's no excuse!" She exclaimed shaking her head as she helped him up. "I really need to stop stumbling on people," she scolded herself even as she tucked loose hair behind her ear. "Are you sure you're okay? I'm not exactly light..." she had begun rambling, fretting over him her dual colored eyes scanning him for any possible injuries.

"Ah, I'm Fiona!" She quickly introduced herself.

“Fiona! Like the ogre! That’s fitting” Sam laughed "I'm Sam".

It wasn’t meant as an insult, but he couldn’t help but point it out. The only other time he had even heard the name was in the Shrek movie. What Sam had meant was that her clumsiness and ‘heaviness’ comment was fitting with an ogre name like Fiona. But, Sam and words didn’t always mix together well.

Fiona blinked once. Then twice, her jaw dropping slightly as he compared her to the ogre princess from Shrek. Sure, she was pretty like Fiona's human form but she was nothing like the green, ugly ogre form that she felt like he was comparing her to. "Excuse me?" Her voice came out much more shrill than she intended but she wasn't quite sure if she was being insulted or not.

"Did you just compare me to an ogre?" Her voice was softer but still clearly offended as she stepped backward, fingertips touching her chest. "How dare you," she growled ignoring the fact that he was just a young boy who probably had no idea of the can of worms he had just opened up.

"I am nothing like an ogre," she nearly snarled doing her best to contain her anger. Fiona wasn't one to get angry, not often but the minute her appearance was insulted she was definitely offended. "I cannot believe you said that," her volume had dropped and now she was more sad than offended. "Here I was, thinking that I looked particularly good today and I pretty much get called an ogre. Lovely," she mumbled more to herself than to him.

Sam moved back, a little shocked and afraid of what the angry redhead might do. What did he say? Something wrong? The boy’s hands were waving frantically in front of him, warning off any sudden attack.

“ What? No. No. No. I’m not comparing you to an ogre. Just, you're both big and kinda clumsy. It’s in a good way? She’s nice, yeah? Not like I said you were ugly.” Sam soft eyes looked over the redhead. She did look lovely! “You look… nice? Really! Not ugly like an ogre. But Fiona’s a princess too… so?”

Sam’s voice trailed off, getting quiet. He wasn’t sure how to undo the damage he caused, so he just raised his shoulders, shrugging.

She was angry but she wasn't about to attack a young boy, even if he did call her an ogre. Though he wasn't helping himself any when he proceeded to call her big and clumsy. She settled her hands on her hips and her lips pursed together as she struggled to stay calm. "Big?" The word barely slipped from her lips but it was obvious in her tone that she was angry.

As he frantically tried to backtrack and amend the situation she let out a frustrated sigh. "You're better off if you just stopped talking," she said pointedly, a hand reaching up to rub her temples while the other stayed hooked to her hip.

"I recommend that you don't call a girl an ogre, ever. No matter how nice you mean it as. An ogre is not a compliment regardless if it's a princess or not."

Taking Fiona’s advice, Sam stopped talking. He just stood there in silence for a moment, digging his heel into the ground and nodding along to what she was saying. That girl was scary! So, really, she was sort of like an ogre. But the boy wasn’t about to say that again. Instead, he just waited until she was finished speaking and just shrugged a little bit.

“My name is Sam? Like Green Eggs and Ham?” He smiles weakly, unsure of what might happen. Though the boy figured his best bet at diffusing the bomb that was the redhead's anger was by taking a small shot at himself.

Fiona sighed, she couldn't stay angry at the cute boy who was trying so hard to fix things. He hadn't meant to come off as rude with his comments, how was he to know any better? And to be fair, the ogre princess was quite beautiful in her human form and she did kick a**.

"Do you like green eggs and ham, Sam-I-am?" She asked, offering the boy a small smile as she recited a line from the popular children's book. "Do you know how to make the eggs and ham green?" She asked tilting her head, her tone almost playful as if she had forgiven him for all his previous mistakes.

Sam pulled a face at the suggestion of making eggs or ham green. "Mom says when ham is green it isn't good anymore. So I shouldn't eat it." The idea of actually using food coloring to make food green was a little bit beyond him.

She chuckled softly, wrinkling her nose as she pictured a rotting ham. "Well yes, if the ham is naturally green then you shouldn't eat it," she replied cheerfully enough. "But when it's made to be green, then it shouldn't be a problem to eat at all. Though, it's easier to make eggs green than ham," she told him thoughtfully, looking up and tapping her chin as the thought about it.

She shook her head, brushing those thoughts away as she settled her hands on her hips. "So, Sam. What are you doing out here?"

"Sounds kinda gross." Sam pulled a face, who wanted to purposefully make food green?

What was he doing out here? One minute he was minding his own business in the park, doing what a kid does best: play. Then he saw a ghost from a dream. How could he even explain that?

"I, thought I saw someone I know over here. But I think it was just the light playing tricks."

Sam looked at the net that Fiona had, wondering what she herself might be up to. "What are you doing, Fiona?" He was careful not to add princess or orge.
