Mery-apet - Das Tor
&
Tendaji - Fiction1119

Mery had, oddly enough, never explored the tombs before. He'd always been content to stay around the temple unless he was needed elsewhere. But Kilala's stories of her daydreams off-duty, and her own explorations of the pride lands...Well, he couldn't help but want to explore a little himself! He was starting to think choosing the tombs had been a bad idea, though. They were certainly grand but...

They were spooky. Very, very spooky and housed the DEAD. Which made them even spookier. Mery shook his striped-maned head, trying to steel his nerves again. He could do it! Then he'd have his own tale of adventure to share with Kilala!

Tendaji saved the tombs for last for no other reason other then they creepy factor. Never had he encountered a place that rose the hackles on his back as they did. But still his curiosity about the things that could be found in them smothered any fear he had, well almost.

He didn't expect they to be so dark, he could still see but it was difficult. With care he navigated deeper into the one of the great tombs all the while watching his surroundings. It was not surprising when he stumbled over a stone and muttered a soft oath that echoed eerily back at him. Now he almost wished he had asked Mei to come along with him, at least then he could laugh off the strange feeling of being watched.

Mery froze as he heard something that wasn't his voice. The lion looked around, his jewelry jangling with the movements, and he turned around to try and shuffle his way back to the entrance. Had he angered one of the dead?! Had one of the dead not gone into the underworld?! He kept himself from making the whimper he REALLY wanted to make. Kilala...could have this adventure to herself!

About to continue his trek deeper Ten paused as he heard something out of the ordinary. Something jangled and jingled softly. Something was in there with him. Something that was not pleased with his presence. Nearly scared out of his wits Ten fell back on the manners taught to him by his mother. He gave a quick bow to the dark and said in a slightly wavering voice, "Pardon my intrusion I shall be leaving shortly." The dark lion hoped that his polite behavior would give him the time to leave safely, something he was going to put into affect right then. He spun on his back paws and started to race for the entrance looking behind him every few moments hoping that what ever was there would not follow him.

Mery heard a voice again, and shortly after...was run into. By something around his size likely. His already frazzled nerves went shot and he made a most undignified sound that was somewhere between a scream and a yelp, backing up even faster and searching for somewhere to hide. Only there wasn't really ANYWHERE to hide! "I promise I was just leaving, I'm sorry if I offended you!"

Ten did not expect to have his forward motion stopped quite suddenly so it took him a moment to scramble back onto his paws. Once on his feet it took him only a moment to realized that he had run into another lion, one who was just as spooked as he was. "Hold on, just hold on a moment. I'm no ghost and neither are you. Was it you who was making that noise a moment ago? That jangling noise? Cuz if it was then I am quite sorry for scaring you. And if it wasn't then I would suggest we get out of here." He smiled a bit nervously as he waited to see what his unexpected companion was going to say.

Mery froze at the voice, blinking as he realized he'd run into a LION. Not a mummy or spirit or dead something-or-other...Just a lion. The prince coughed in embarrassment and shook his mane and tail a bit, letting the jewelry on them jingle. "Was that the sound you heard?" Hopefully so. Because if it wasn't...it was time to resume running for his life.

Ten watched as the other lion's jewelry jingled, just like the sound he heard earlier if a bit clearer. "Yes. Thank the gods because I thought I had woken something up back there when I accentently stumbled and sorta cursed when i was in the dark." He smiled sheepishly before introducing himself, "I'm Tendaji by the way. I was hoping to get some ideas for crafting but I'm starting to rethink my plan."

Mery sighed in relief. Okay than. "So that was YOU I heard earlier! I thought I'd made something mad, myself!" He chuckled sheepishly. "I'm Mery-apet. I...just came in here to explore." He sighed. "Wanted to try and have something interesting to tell a friend of mine, since she has all these exciting stories."

"Yeah that was me. I though I had made something mad when you jinggled. I guess we both were pretty spooked." Ten smiled then glanced around, "Then again this place is pretty creepy. Its nice to meet you Mery-apet, most call me Ten and having a good story to tell its always good, so far I think ours is more amusing then exciting." He chuckled at the odd events that had unfolded. "Then again if you would be willing we could continue exploring so at least the story doesn't end with us running from the tomb like scardy kittens."

Mery couldn't help but laugh at that last bit. He grinned at Ten, no fear in his heart now. He had someone with him! Nothing could go wrong! "I don't mind if you don't! And Mery's just fine for me. Easier to say and nowhere near as formal sounding."

"Then I guess we are going to see what is down here Mery." Ten smiled and faced back the way he had come just moments ago, "So do you know what we are likely to see down here? I just heard that it had markings on the walls and other interesting things. I wonder what it will be like since the markings back at home are pretty fascinating by themselves."

Mery thought a moment...then nodded. "I'm certain whatever we find will be...new, at the least." He smiled calmly. "After all...this place was made by something that wasn't a lion. We're certain to see things lions couldn't do!" His shock and terror now long gone, he started back towards the depths of the tomb, looking back to his new friend. "Come...the unknown awaits us!"

Ten caught up with Mery so they soon walked side by side farther into the tombs. "This should be interesting, very interesting Mery." His mind was working and already his earlier fright was forgotten. "Ahead lies adventure"
