A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

It was late that night, a little past midnight, when Matthew made his way out of the school buildings - some computers had acted up, and he had to stay and fix it all before leaving - though at least his teacher had paid for the food and drinks while they had worked to get everything back in order.

This was his favorite teacher, so it had been nearly impossible to say no. On the flipside, he really hated being out this late...

If only he had known, he would have taken along his car.

Sighing to himself, the young man started to make his way back to his apartment. Thankfully, he didn't live far.

You'd think, with all the warnings and chasing that police did to keep kids off the street, most would heed the warning. Even then, there was the bold few. Her chin rested in her hand, elbow propped up, in a bored manner. Her legs were crossed .. One might have spotted her brightly colored kimono, bent over the rails of a tall building but the flash of color moved as quickly as it had appeared.

Soon enough, the male might have turned around to the sound of twigs snapping under a small rabbit's stuffed foot, the purple-black aura emanating most strongly from the weapon. In fact, it seemed to be shining brightly in the darkness.. because it was sapping from someone else? Meanwhile, a brief flash of pink and yellow seemed to twitch in the black shadows of the buildings .. Serandite learned that energy-sapping was a sensitive process.

It wasn't just the male .. a wave of tiredness and fatigue seemed to wash over everyone within the vicinity. The hobo, who suddenly dropped to the sidewalk .. an exiting staff member.. a woman who just opened the door to her car .. Serandite's eyebrows furrowed in concentration, several growing orbs cradled in the palm of her hand.

He had gotten a few blocks away before things seemed to get... strange. He stiffled a yawn with his hand, shaking his head in attempt to clear the fuzz overtaking his vision. Maybe he shouldn't have turned down that coffee before going ? Even though he hated coffee... He certainly felt tired, all of sudden.

It didn't get better, though - it got worse. A few steps later, he had to stop, leaning against a tree, as the world quickly blurred out of focus. It was while leaning that he noticed the stuffed rabbit, brown eyes going wide. What was this thing... ?

...Maybe he was just hallucinating it.

He needed to get home, really, though the more he tried to focus, the more his thoughts seemed to flee from him.

"Impressive. You're still awake?" Serandite was in front of him now, a little bit in the distance, her posture bent as she seemed to retrieve one large clump of energy from a fallen female.

Interesting.

Perhaps she'd better concentrate on the last one awake-- Immediately, her concentration over the expanse of the area ceased as Serandite took a step towards the stumbling male. Her hand extended forward, the bunny's paw imitating her motions as brown eyes concentrated on the bewildered male, countering his questioning frown with a quick grin of her own.

"Just relax and take it like a man-- It's not like I'm going to murder you." Serandite waved her hand casually, her other hand reached under her kimono top, revealing a black tank top, to tuck the other orbs somewhere within the shadowed cloth.

Someone was talking to him. Matthew tried to straighten himself up, but all he saw was a blur of black, yellow, and light pink. Her words didn't really ring as anything other than words, either - he heard them, but their meaning didn't register.

The purple-haired man didn't last long after the General had changed his focus sorely to him - the last thing he saw was a purple and brown shape bobbing into the distance.

Fluorite had been awed.

There was no other word for it. She'd been completely and utterly awed, having stumbled onto the scene on pure accident. This was the first time she had seen a general in action while being able to truly observe it. She had no idea mass-gathering like this was even possible.

But then she noticed who the last standing victim was, and her blood ran cold, just as her emerald green eyes went wide.

Matty... What the hell are you doing here... What the hell, indeed. He would be alright, she knew - but seeing this happen, watching him crumble down like a rag doll... Her heart sank.

She had moved, jumped from her perch on a low building before she had even noticed she was moving. And now, she was walking, making nearly-soundless steps toward Serandite.

"That was quite impressive, general." Her features were pulled into worried lines. "If you do not mind, though... I'll take care of him."

It was nearly impossible to overlook the familiarity the boy and the girl shared, glamour or not.

"Impressive .. I guess it would be." Serandite murmured, beads of sweat running down her forehead. She wiped her head quickly with her kimono sleeve, surprised by the lieutenant's quick concern towards the now-collapsed male Serandite had just stolen energy from. Serandite wasn't that quick but she wasn't slow either, her mind reaching a quick conclusion as the lieutenant stepped forward.

The air she gave off .. would have mirrored Serandite's reaction exactly if it had been Senel. The connection clicked, once Serandite related Fluorite and the unknown male's features-- With her glamored self, it was a ambiguous connection but with her behavior, she confirmed it.

"An unlucky night for him to run across me, I suppose. I didn't take too much from him, he should wake up by tomorrow." Serandite offered, lifting the male's body, throwing his hand over her shoulder to support his body. With some difficulty, she attempted to hand the male to the lieutenant. Serandite wouldn't apologize. She didn't need to apologize for doing her job-- Along with the negaverse, you took these kind of risks.

Even her own brother, Senel, wasn't exempt from being targeted by others.

"Your brother, Lieutenant?" Serandite offered the lieutenant a small smile, her pink-yellow hair falling over her shoulders as she leaned forward, her pink heels steadying themselves with the adjusted weight.

"Yes." Fluorite answered with a nod of the head. "My brother. I have no idea what he's doing out this late." This wasn't exactly in Matthew's habits to be out this late. Usually, he was nice and safe in his apartment at this time of the hour. She pulled out a water bottle from her own sash, offering it to the general if she wanted it, as she awkwardly accepted her own brother, settling to carry him bridal-style. It was... hilarious, in a way, or would have been if Fluorite didn't have a direct emotional involvement in the matter. Someone so small carrying someone much taller than them should have been impossible to begin with.

She wasn't upset with Serandite, no. Not for doing her job - how could she had known this man was her brother ? Especially when they had never met ? No, she was more upset with Matthew - though at the same time, it got her to thinking. "You idiot..." She said softly to the unconscious form of her brother. "You and I are so going to have a talk when you wake up..."

She shook her head, sending purple curls flying back and forth. They probably should both get away from the scene before a senshi stumbled onto them - at least, they weren't this far from Matthew's apartment. "I had no idea something like that was possible, though. Was your weapon doing the energy gathering ?" At least, she supposed the bunny was Serandite's weapon, the way it mimicked her movements and all that. "I should get him home, though - would you like to accompany me ?"

Serandite waved her hand in a polite gesture of dismissal, at the water held out to her, her hand lifted to throw her side-ponytail behind her neck, as she took the moment to survey the newest recruit.

A part of her wondered who recruited her but that information didn't matter. As long as the numbers of those loyal to the negaverse increased, the matter of recruiting wasn't even a drop in the bucket of concerns. Nor should it be. Her fingers ran through her hair, averting her eyes to the side as the private scene between lieutenant and brother played before her eyes. It took a moment for Serandite to realize the lieutenant was addressing her, turning her head swiftly back to reply.

"It's possible if you move up through the ranks. Yes, Loppy here does it physically for me-- Although, mentally, it's all you and me. As you move up, your abilities gets stronger. But make no mistake, it's the same effort you lieutenants take, multiplied a bit. It just gets .. more tolerable." Serandite attempted to explain in her not-so-eloquent way, gesturing towards the victims. What she failed to explicitly describe was the fact, when you become more immersed in the darkness of the negaverse, it became easier to utilize it .. to an extent.

As long as you didn't fight it.

She looked surprised at Fluorite's offer, brown eyes widening. It wasn't the usual negaverse courtesy. The usual consisted of a nod or a meeting of eyes in the subspace .. but if the negaverse was really a family as Schee liked to phrase it, then .. going over wasn't a problem. Probably.

"Sure! I'll try to cross your brother off my hit-list next time. After all, it'd be pretty bad if my brother got hit. I'd probably be slapping him awake." Serandite pointed out affectionately.. and paused. Thinking on it, slapping him awake probably wasn't the best idea.

Non-eloquent as the general thought herself to be, Fluorite seemed to understand just fine, as she nodded. "It's still the same action, but with... greater control ?" And more energy to do it with, she presumed. It still couldn't be called ease, now on a large scale like Serandite had just demonstrated - but still, she found herself longing for this kind of power.

To be more useful. Scheelite wouldn't need to kill again if she learned how to do it for him. He'd never need to see anyone thorn apart before his eyes again.

She was chased out of her reverie when the pink-haired general spoke again, and then started to walk, a little awkwardly thanks to the added weight. "I don't think slapping him awake is even possible normally..." She could go in details as to the kind of things her brother had slept through, but that seemed a little too personal. And she figured the general didn't care to listen to her babbling. "I don't blame you... There was no way you could have known. He'll be fine, and it's all that matters." The young girl looked pensive for an instant, then shook her head. Now wasn't the time for this.

"Yep!" Serandite confirmed, walking as they talked. The lieutenant wouldnt have known at this point but Serandite listened to babble. She tended to babble herself, a decidedly ungeneral-like quality.

Clapping her hands together, Serandite tipped her head in Fluorite's direction, partially admiring the sleek purple hair she had. Her brother and her shared the same hair -- it was a shame Serandite and her brother looked nothing alike. (Thank god for him, he didn't want pink hair.)

"So! What brings you to the negaverse, lieutenant?" Serandite inquired curiously, leaning to the side to avidly listen to Fluorite's answer.

Fluorite and her brother almost looked like twins, actually. Had their skin color been identical, the illusion would have been perfect. Both has inherited their mother's deep purple hair. Ashley had her father's green eyes, while her brother took from their mother and aunt with his brown one. Matthew was a little darker-skinned, more like their father, while Ashley was a little paler, with an undertone that seemed almost asian, more like their mother.

And, well, the age difference helped.

What brought her into the negaverse ? "One of my close friends is in the negaverse. He had been protecting me for awhile, unseen, before he just talked to me one night. I didn't know who he was until after I was taken in, which... was a little confusing." Yup. A little confusing. Right. "I wanted to help. He kept me safe, so I wanted to keep him safe. To keep everyone safe. Once the senshi are gone... everything can be normal again."

"Oh that's sweet. He must be a really great guy!" Serandite clapped her hands together, trying to picture the mystery guy. If she had known it was Scheelite, her expression might have been a "WHAAAAT" in shock.

She took Fluorite's hand in her own, giving the girl an encouraging squeeze. "As long as you don't forget what you're here, you wont have any trouble in the future. After all, as Schee says, we're all one big family, right? I'm sure you have a list of people to call but if you're ever in trouble, just call me anytime!" Serandite grinned, giving the male a mutual glance of affection.

"Him too. If I ever see him in trouble, count on me to keep an eye on him. .. Not that .. you don't already keep a close watch on him. But just in case, you know?" Serandite fumbled with words, laughing sheepishly. Uhh .. Eloquent with words, Serandite was not.

Fluorite just grinned - looked like the cat would stay in the bag for just a bit longer. "Right ! And, um, if you need anything from me..." How silly - why would a general need anything from a lieutenant ? But yet, Fluorite couldn't help but offer in turn.

Eloquent or not, the tiny young girl seemed content to hear that, as she nodded. "Thank you. I'd... really appreciate that." Since when had her brother been getting in trouble in the first place ? She'd never heard anything about this !

Sigh. Men.

The familiar apartment building where Matthew lived was getting closer and closer in the distance - it would only be a minute or so now.

A building was coming into view. Assuming that it was the building Fluorite and her brother Matthrew intended to head for, Serah would have joined the girl into walking up towards the doorway if not for the interruption of her cell phone ringing.

It was the alarm feature playing "Love like Woe," the bright light of her cell phone screen lighting up the darkness. Serah frowned, snapping her cell phone closed, silencing the music. "Well, it's time for me to go. My brother's going to wake up soon and if he doesn't find me at home .. I imagine you'd know what that's like. After all, I doubt I can come up with a plausible reason for me for my exit at this hour of the night."

With this, she waved to Flurote with a bright "See you later!"

.. and then teleported out. But not without a echoing sentence:

"Call me if you need meeeeeeeeee~"

Echooooo.
