Aulus yawned, covering his mouth half way through at a reproachful; "Char!" The speaker, coincidently called Char, had a bit of a thing for manners; it seemed that he had been trained to train his trainer as much as he'd been trained to fight. Still, he wasn't about to complain, he was getting all his work done in about half the time thanks to the fire type, but rather than trying to get off work early he took on more jobs. It might only be cleaning, but he was sure his diligence would get noticed before much longer. A room he only had to share with one person. That would be nice.
Aulus approached the door that led straight into the pool from the corridor pushing his mop and bucket on wheels type thingie. Just behind him padded Char with another mop and bucket, wearing the serious expression that he already knew so well. If they put work ethic in an illustrated dictionary, his new Charmeleon's picture wouldn't be out of place beside it. Turning around, Aulus shoved the door open and pulled his cart in behind him, holding the door for Char. Get the floor around the pool all mopped and he could call it a day; the sooner he started the sooner it would be over so there was no sense hanging around.

Upon opening the door, Aulus and Char would find it practically empty, save for the slender young woman that currently resided in one of the corners of the shallow end. Her back was to him at the moment, and her long black hair was tied up into a bun to keep it well away from the water. Not that the water was near it, of course; it was roughly just below her shoulder blades. One arm was laying across the tiling at the edge of the pool, her cheek resting on top of it as the hand on her other arm was stretched out to a gold-eyed blue Eevee, who was insisting on pouncing and wrestling with it. Small movements or rotations were more than enough to keep it from being pinned by the excited 'vee, and it seemed likely she'd been kept amused by this elusive prey for a while now.
The 'vee wasn't the only pokemon out. Zeus and Odette looked up with a mild curiosity while Alexina was too busy skimming across the surface of the pool, blowing a weakened, continuous stream of ice out in front of her. A certain Growlithe, on the other hand, saw Aulus and immediately jumped up. Spotting Char behind him, she barked excitedly and bounded over, ears perked and tail wagging a mile a minute. you're here and we're both here and I haven't seen you in forever and I never thought I'd see you again but you're here and I'm here and you're back and I missed you!> This was all said while Artemis ran in excited circles around the fire-type, tail still wagging so hard it seemed likely it might fall off from overuse.

At the sight of the bounding puppy Char's dignified, somewhat aloof expression gave way to a soft smile. he said with a slight bow of his head, He certainly was. His master might lack manners at times, but the man wasn't beyond hope, and at least now he was kept busy with work all day rather than being shut in his pokeball. the wiry Charmeleon went on as he dunked his mop in the bucket before wringing it out in the rollers,
Aulus on the other hand remained silent, studying Claire's back pensively. Yes, he knew it was her right away. He felt like he knew every curve, every angle. Her eyes would be hazel at the moment. He'd been thinking about her quite a lot since their afternoon out to the city, probably more than was sensible all things considered. Still, it looked like he wasn't the only one wrapped up in the world inside their head. "Penny for your thoughts?" he said eventually, leaning on his mop with his eyebrows raised in a curious manner. "Oh," a frown flashed across his face for just a moment as he corrected himself to; "cent."

She replied quickly, still bounding around excitedly. But he was busy, so she flopped her fluffy rump down with a huff. She'd have to wait to tackle him until he finished.
Aulus might be surprised to find out that, once he saw her eyes - she had yet to move and face him, and from her posture it seemed like any movement at all was unlikely - he would find they were actually purple. That, coupled with her hair held up away from the water and obviously dry, he might come to the conclusion that she hadn't any intention for doing anything in the pool other than lounge in the corner. "Hmm? Oh," was her absent-minded reply, her gaze still vaguely focused on Blue but quite possibly focused on something else altogether. "Nothing," though it was quite obvious there was something. The little 'vee was still attempting to pounce and pin her trainer's hand, making little growly "vffrrr!" noises as she tumbled around.

Char responded as he set about mopping, At the moment it seemed that his trainer was preoccupied, but he recognised the woman from that brief encounter in the park. Presumably they were close in one way or another, he did not begrudge them time to speak and wouldn't have done even if Aulus were his equal rather than his superior.
"Your contact are in," Aulus scowled, sticking his mop back in the bucket and striding over to sit down on the edge of the pool, adding; "and nothing my toned white arse. You don't have to tell me what's wrong if you don;t want to Claire, but don't insult my intelligence by giving me that cliché 'nothing', okay?" He wanted her to tell him, just in case there was something he could do easily to fix whatever was wrong. Judging by her expression, however, it wasn't a quick fix kind of thing. Still, maybe he could be of some help. She was the closest thing he had to a friend around here and she was... Claire. She was Claire. She'd brought him here, and she was just about a friend; of course he wanted to be able to help her if it didn't put him out too much.

She asked, tail thumping against the tile.
His obviously displeased tone caused her eyebrows to half raise. "I'm sorry," she said softly. She didn't really move though, still leaning on her arm on the tiled edge and letting Blue play with her hand. The small 'vee paused to regard Aulus curiously as he sat down, but the elusive hand-prey was more enticing, so she resumed trying to pounce on it instead.

Char nodded as he worked methodically along one edge of the pool room,
Sighing deeply and shaking his head, Aulus folded himself up into a lotus position. "Don't apologise, woman," he chided, "either tell me what's wrong or tell me you're not going to tell me so I can give up and get on with cleaning, hu?" He did want her to tell him but he didn't want to come on too strong as it were, that would probably just make her less inclined to talk... Or would it? Egh, what did he know? He was awful at this kind of thing.

she replied, still thumping her tail on the ground and panting. Now, to figure out how to show her talents to her new master... <....what do you think I should go find?>
"Sorry," she said again, then realized she'd apologized again when he'd said not to. Whoops. She just kept messing things up, didn't she? Damn. "Um.." What to say, what to say... There wasn't much to say, wasn't much she really wanted to talk about or discuss... wasn't much she wanted to do besides continue to sit and be distracted by Blue.
The little 'vee had other ideas, however. The hand-prey grew boring finally - for the time being - so she suddenly growled playfully before pouncing on Aulus' lap and trying to get his hand instead. Claire blinked a few times, violet eyes focusing again as her distraction left. Well crap, now what?

the Charmeleon confessed after a few moments of silent mopping,
"Try again," Aulus said in slightly more gentle tones as Blue jumped into his lap. "You look like... I don't know," the scarred man shrugged, absent-mindedly offering his hand to Blue for wrestling purposes, "but you don't look right. I'm not going to plead with you to talk to me, but if you do want to I will listen. If it's as easy as somebody being a d**k to you I'll go and kick the crap out of them if you like."

the Growlithe admitted, her excited demeanor suddenly switching to sad-puppy-look with her ears and tail drooping. She would find it so fast because she was very good at finding things! It was vaguely upsetting that she just didn't know what to find.
"No, that's okay," she murmured, her choice of words quite possibly indicating that there was indeed someone at the other end of the situation, but if Aulus asked she would never say Lucas was being a d**k. He was being a jerk, sure, but.. well he wasn't really, but thinking that made her feel better. Marginally. She did feel better, right?
Her brows furrowed slightly as she sighed through her nose, her abandoned wrestling-hand curling up slightly on top of the tiles as she thought more.

Ugh. He really did want to help, but she really wasn't making it easy. Wrestling with Blue, Aulus scowled thoughtfully. "Okay, so it is a who? Because you don't want me to go kick the crap out of them... If you're not going to talk would you please tell me? I've got a lot of work to get done in here you know." Char would get it all done in the end, but if Claire was just going to stand there in the water being an emo little twit then he might as well pick up his mop and get the job done faster... He did want to help her, but he had no idea how.

she whined, wriggling in place and her ears and tail drooping even more, if that were even possible. How could she know how to fix it if she didn't even know what made her sad?
"Yes," she admitted with a sigh, her gaze absently directed at her hand, though it was anybody's guess if she was actually looking at it or not. "It's.. I don't know, it's sort of complicated." Another sigh. She didn't say she didn't want to talk, because she did - but she didn't say that either, instead subconsciously relying on the typical female behavior of complicated talks in which they didn't do much talking at all. Or maybe it was just typical for her when she was upset. That was anybody's guess, too.

Char said with a bob of his head, pausing momentarily in his mopping to look over at the pair of humans. the fire type suggested, That would not be good, not good at all.
"Mmh? Is that so?" Aulus raised an eyebrow and gave Claire a lopsided smile. "I may not be the brain of Kodo, or probably anywhere else for that matter, but I'm not stupid Claire. Try me, I might just understand... Like I say though, I have got work to do so if you're not going to talk, or not going to talk yet, I'll just get on with it until you do decide to tell me, or to tell me you're not going to tell me." Why was he even still sitting here? He'd said several times that he was just going to get up and get on with work again but he hadn't.

She didn't realize how many times he'd said he was going to get up and get to work, though the comment about not being the brain of Kodo elicited a small, faint smile. It quickly disappeared as she sighed again, brows furrowing slightly once more. "It's... oh." There was suddenly a moist black nose burrowing under her hand as a fluffy Growlithe hunkered down in front of her, waving a fluffy white tail. Claire obliged and started scratching her behind the ears, grateful for another distraction since Blue was still currently wrestling with Aulus' hand and attempting to chew his thumb. "It's.. well," another sigh, making it rather obvious she was uncertain whether - or maybe lacked the desire - to tell exactly what was wrong. One more sigh, this one seeming a bit more determined. "It's Lucas." There, she said it.

Giving a slight nod of satisfaction as the Growlithe followed his advice, Char got back to work.
"Oh. Him." Aulus pursed his lips, still making vague attempts to entertain Blue. "What's he done then?" Frankly he was still half-convinced the man was a total an utter psychopath... and there had been that conversation he'd had with him a little while back, hadn't there? Was that what it was about?
