Some time had passed since the horrible events on the island, and while many students remained scarred and traumatized by their experiences, classes were running as usual and there were a multitude of day to day things that needed to be done. For one such pup, there was something most important that needed to be done as soon as possible. It had started with one little wisp of foxfire. Another stray thing he had found in the woods, that had been drawn to him much the same way the others did. A pretty little brown and green thing. He took it home, nurtured it as he had the others, and next thing you know he had a fluffy little luminous foxfire on his hands. And then disaster struck. The fluff then ATE ALL HIS MUSHROOMS. Much non-verbal scolding on Jove's part had the little thing thoroughly chided into eating regular food like the rest of his foxfires, but the damage had already been done. Most of the glowing mushrooms under his bed had been decimated, and his room was cast into shadow come nightfall. The pup couldn't bear it, he ran straight to Ren's room and curled up under the bed there with a flashlight. The next morning, Ren helped him make signs. Although not one given to pointless pacing, he did just that on the edge of the woods off campus. He looked like a sorry sight, one ear still had not regained full movement in the two weeks since their return, and he cradled his left arm as though it still bothered him every now and again. Combined with his anxious expression, it was clear he would be quite the pitiful figure until he had found some new mushrooms. (( Game TimeThis RP takes place somewhere around two weeks after the meta's end. In a week or so OOCly, maybe more, we'll have whomever has gathered head out into the woods to search for mushrooms. Everyone can RP their hunting and whatnot, and roll dice to see if they are good mushrooms. Once you win a prize you are not obligated to continue, although it would be appreciated if you did. ^_~ Details about the rolling will be posted once we get there!))

Two weeks after that disastrous (Ren had a much better term for it, but it was not exactly suitable for younger ears) field trip, and Ren had woken up with a little fluff under his bed.
He had dozens of fluffs; in fact there were three of them alone curled up on his bed around him (Sleepy, Soundly, and Cookie), and two more on his dresser (Spindly and Creepy). Ren was very used to waking up to an eyeful (and sometimes an inadvertent mouthful when they decided to sleep on his chest) of poof.
Except this fluff was different in the way that it was, in fact, a very human fluff - his little brother Jove, to be exact, curled up under Ren's bed, his tail tucked around his scrawny legs and a flashlight clenched in one hand. It took a bit of poking and prodding, and it was only after Ren had dragged him out and flopped with him in his pillow pile that he had managed to figure out what was wrong. One of Jove's new foxfires had eaten his mushrooms, and he was quite distraught over it. Seeing as how Jove really would like to have more, Ren helped him to make a sign - they would recruit people for mushroom hunting!
"Jove," Ren said placidly, later that evening, when they were standing just on the edge of the forest. "You're going to wear yourself out before you even go in, you know."
The puppy was pacing back and forth almost nervously, a worried expression on his pale face, and Ren, standing with his hands slipped casually into his pockets (the right one still bandaged somewhat heavily), reached out, putting one atop the boil's head. "Relax," he said and gave the other what he hoped was an encouraging smile. "We'll find you some more mushrooms, okay?"
Dropping his hand, Ren slipped it back into his pocket and waited for the others to arrive.

It may have been two weeks, and she may have physically recovered (mostly. She still looked a little pale, and her wings still were a shade to pale as well.), but Astra..still felt like a wreck. She tried to hide it best she could, but she still spent a lot of time hiding in her dorm room, waking up at night from terrible nightmares or just...hiding under the blankets. It was going to take a long time before she would feel better about the whole thing.
But, one the rare occasion she had ventured out of her dorm, she had spotted a few signs asking for help in looking for mushrooms. This perked her up a bit; She liked mushrooms. They were fun to eat, and the poisonous one..looked really pretty. And if they were big enough, she liked to bounce on them (they still had to be pretty big). So come 7pm, she had ventured out of the safety of her dorm room and towards the forest.
Upon reaching said area, she saw two figures; a gryphon with a badly bandaged arm, and a small human...puff? who looked very sorrowful. She assumed that they were both still recovering from the field trip. "E...excuse me?" she asked the pup who was pacing. "Umm...I read a sign that said you needed help finding mushrooms?"

Two weeks seemed to have done very little for the memories of the island still fresh his mind. So fresh, that sometimes he swore it had happened just the other day. Not that he suffered much from the whole experience or anything, but... had it really been two weeks since that disastrous trip? What had he been doing within that time that would make the days go by so fast? Not much. Other than attending classes and skipping them, all he ever did was fool around with his dog minipets and carry out his usual daily run. Probably the only practice he ever put in for the track club. In fact, he was currently on one of those runs or finishing it, rather, when he came across the first signs of the 'search' party.
Slowing his pace to a walk, the black dog's ears twitched forward. He heard voices... more than one, in fact. But he couldn't quite make out who they were. Then again, he didn't really know many of the students on campus to begin with, so it was unlikely he would be familiar with them at all, considering how many there were. Though rather than change direction and head back to the dorms through a different route, he headed directly towards the source of voices.
"What's going on?" He finally called out as he fought his way through some low grown branches. Cursing lightly when a branch swatted at his face. Which was followed by a second curse when he saw a familiar face among the group.
"Ah s**t! You just had to be here." He grumbled towards the gryphon; already turning to walk off again. He was NOT going to stick around here. Not with Ren there.

Jove ceased his pacing for the short duration Ren's hand rested on his head, and gave a plaintive whine. What if nobody showed up? Or they couldn't find any good mushrooms? His room would be dark and miserable forever! The pup seemed to forget the mushrooms had only grown under the bed since his arrival, and would likely recover without intervention, there was no way he could wait that long when sleep still evaded him at night.
When he heard Astra approach, his good ear perked straight up, and his tail gave a short wag. She was going to help them? He trotted a couple steps closer and looked at her with big, appreciative eyes.
His enthusiasm went up when he saw Tybalt crashing out of the forest, well, after he realized the black dog wasn't a monster. He had not yet met the other ghost, although he recognized the scent from around the dorms.
But when Tybalt turned to leave instead of even staying to hear the answer to his question, Jove's good ear flopped back. He whined in confusion, at Tybalt and then at Ren, hoping his big brother would convince the other ghost to stay and help out. Another keen nose would be so helpful...

Sheridan had been intrigued by the commotion at the forest edge, the gathering of students having caught his attention from his perch on the dorm roof. It seemed he spent most of his time up there in the weeks since the island incident, whether the stars were out or not. Would he ever get over what he had seen there?
Wings unfurled, the dragon lept from the roof, tail cutting through the air behind him as he glided to the forest's edge, then landing silently near the other students.
"What's going on?"
He scanned the group, taking note of who was there before his gaze finally settled on Jove. Oh right, now he remembered. He had seen the sign on one of the boards, something about mushrooms. Glowing mushrooms?

The note had made him laugh, and that in turn had convinced him to come along. Granted, he'd have come anyways, but the little tickle of humor that came with the situation was like icing on a cake. Considering how things had been going that month, he could use all the good humor and fun he could get. Smiles hadn't been coming quite as easily since before.. Everything.
Before making his way out the ghost had left a very detailed message of what was going on for his ghoulfriend, along with where they'd all be. He hoped she'd make it, but she hadn't been her usual bubbly self since they got home. In fact, she had locked herself in her room for days after the fact, and refused to come out for anyone. Not until Momo talked her into going and getting a snack. It had been worrying to say the least.
This seemed normal somehow, and a little normalcy was certainly needed. So with hands in his pockets he slipped beyond the last wall of the school and made his way over the grounds towards the edge of the woods. He could see a small gathering of students, one at least a head shorter then the rest, and he couldn't help but smile.
Someone seemed to be leaving though, and it was almost second nature that the jikininki reached out to catch the other ghost by the shoulder, slowing his pace if not stopping him completely. He seemed familiar, but Seiji couldn't recall ever having talked to the other boil before. They did share a dorm though, so that was likely where he'd seen him.
Hand still on Tybalt's shoulder, he rose his clawed hand to wave at the others, turning a grin down to the whisp. "Hey Jove."

Ren lightly patted Jove's head again, rubbing his good ear with his fingers. "I promise," he said, giving the boil a serious look before affectionately ruffling his hair. "And I always keep my promises, if you remember."
There were people starting to arrive now; the first of which was a slender young ghoul with curly hair and brightly elegant, softly sparkling wings. Ren vaguely remembered her from the Spin the Bottle game, but could not recall her name. Something with an A...Astrid, maybe?
That didn't sound right, so Ren settled for lifting his hand in greeting, giving the ghoul a friendly smile. "Welcome to our little party," he said, gesturing first at Jove, then at himself. "I'm Ren, this is Jove, and we're glad you've decided to help us~ It should be pretty fun."
Normally he would be a lot more extravagant, but Ren was still not feeling up to that. Not to mention his attention was drawn away from the ghoul momentarily when he heard a rustling noise followed by an all too familiar voice. Ren pivoted slowly.
"Ahhh, yes, if it isn't the shrunken schnauzer!" he said, waving an arm in Tybalt. Internally he debated on whether or not to just let the dog walk away and leave them all in peace, but one look from Jove and Ren had resigned himself to walking over. However, someone reached the ghost before he did - a tall young man with dark skin that Ren recognized immediately.
"Seiji," he said by way of greeting, giving the other a nod and a faint smile. "Glad you could join us; Jove will be happy to see you." A pause. "And I see you've caught a little something to bring along..? Here, let me take that off your hands for you - "
Reaching out, Ren slid an arm around Tybalt's neck, grabbing him in a loose headlock with his good arm and dragging him the rest of the way back towards the group. "Come now, come now," he said airily, and waved his bandaged hand around noncommittally. "Aren't you going to join the fun?"
There was someone else here now too; a dragon that Ren did not recognize at all, with purplish blue skin and a long, curling tail. Ren tilted his head curiously, then held out his free hand towards the dragon.
"I don't think we've met before," he said, "I'm Ren. And this," he added, poking the top of Tybalt's head. " - is Tybalt. Or you can call him Schnauzer, either one works."
[ I have permission from Onnie to grab Tybalt~ = u=b ]

West had no interest in anything even remotely involving mushroom gathering or helping little wisp boils. What he did have an interest in was finding out why in the hell there was a rapidly growing gaggle of pathetically shell-shocked students congregating at the edge of the forest.
Sure, he had experienced some messed up s**t on that island too, but none of it made him want to curl into a ball and weep, at least not during school hours. And there was never any weeping involved anyway, no matter what time it was! There had been that time when he had woken up in the middle of the night, certain that someone was knocking at his door, someone with an x-ray camera phone who was going to take pictures of his demon mark and send them to everyone in the school, which was just ridiculous because Yaya's mark was already gone. Yeah. Ridiculous. But that had only happened one time and there had definitely been a distinct lack of weeping.
Man up. Jack, you guys. Seriously. Right?
The group was comprised of a majority of male students, but there was that one tiny ghoul West recognized from class so right off the bat he decided this wasn't some sort of strange male bonding get together. So what was it then? It seemed the dog kid from that poker game and this Mr Serious Dragon he had never met before wanted to know too. With a muffled scoff and a suspicious narrowing of his eyes, West waited for someone to explain, hanging back well behind the newest arrivals so he could just walk away if things got too stupid.

The pup's tail wagged at the look on Ren's face. It was a look of resignation, but if Jove had learned anything about his brother it was that the look meant he was about to get his way. It was a good sign. He watched as the group grew larger, the anxiety making his ghostly stomach churn easing up with every new arrival. Surely Ren was right, they would find some good mushrooms.
Leaving his brother to rope in the other ghost, he gave the dragon a happy tail wag, his good ear perked as he scented the air. Smelled like... mostly books. Parchment and ink, and a little bit of dust. It was a comfortable smell to the little foxfire, who had spent many weeks after his arrival at the school familiarizing himself with the academy library.
Once that olfactory introduction had been made, he dashed over to a small wagon. He had brought out a wagon, of all things, to bring back mushrooms. He was about to hop up onto it to survey the crowd from a higher vantage point when he heard a familiar voice call out his name. His tail wagged up a storm as he whirled and trotted up to his friend without a word.
Then he just stood there, tail wagging, and didn't notice West approaching the edges of the group.

Looking at Jove, Astra couldn't believe how...cute, this guy looked. So much that she had to resist the urge to ask if she could pet him. She doubted the ghost boil would like that and he might bite her...)
She then looked over to Ren whom she faintly recalled from the spin the bottle game...wasn't he the one who kept getting kissed? "Hi Ren, My names Astra, and I'm happy to help." She also thought it would be heaps of fun; This mushroom hunt sounded a little like a game, and she loved playing games.
A few more people began to show up, including West whom she...didn't really know that well. Was he the guy who was in her group for making fear candy? There was also Tybalt, and she remembered scaring the pants out of him at some point or other. Another student showed up and...she didn't recall him at all. Nevertheless she waved to them all in greeting, until she saw Sheridan Fly down...She knew him! not personaly but she saw him floating about with them on the field trip!
"She.....sshheerrr..." She couldn't recall his name, but it was...something like "sher" Ah, bugger it She flew over to him, looking quite startled at his appearance. "You were at the lighthouse! Are you doing okay??" She didn't care at this point she didn't know him well. Any one who had been in her group she was concerned about by default; they weren't through Hell

Tybalt would have left, if it wasn't for the sudden grip on his shoulder from an unfamiliar boil. A fellow ghost? He wasn't sure. What he did know, was that this guy was preventing him from leaving.
"....Umm... Do you mi--" He started to ask, but stopped when he caught the gryphon's words; turning a nasty glare on him instead. "Quit calling me that, you weakling pigeon!" He growled, more determined than ever to leave, but was stopped yet again when he was pulled into a headlock and dragged back to where every one else was.
"Oh yes, this is just so much fun." He said; voice thick with sarcasm as he tried to struggle free. "And it's just Tybalt!" He corrected angrily.
Though now that he was here, he was able to take a good look at everyone else and soon noticed that he recognized two others aside from Ren. Astra and West. The latter still approaching. Both he barely knew, but they weren't strangers. As for the others? They were all new faces to him and two of them looked to be ghosts... ghosts...? Why hasn't he seen them before now? They were only in the same dorm. Perhaps he was less observant than he thought.
"What are you guys doing anyways?" He finally asked. Giving up on his futile struggle for freedom for the time being and instead settled for lashing his tail back and forth angrily.

"Sheridan."
A friendly (though somewhat baffled) smile, Sheridan grasped the offered hand. A brow raised, what on earth was he doing? Whatever it was, the canine Tybalt didn't look like he wasn't enjoying it. Or maybe it was just some game he had never heard of (not that surprising if it was, he'd always been more interested in books than games).
He might have said something, he had started to, but his attention had been drawn by the little fox. The dragon blinked, but couldn't help but smile at the tail wag.
"You're Jove right?"
He had never been introduced to the foxfire, though he did recognize him from their encounter at the lighthouse on the island. Well, at least he was assuming it was the foxfire's name he had read on the poster.
"I'm fine, though I think I'll skip the next field trip, yourself?"
Or he was at least as fine as he could be after that place. How long had they been there? He still wasn't entirely sure. There was at least some good that came out of it, he saw more, understood more than he had before. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? He was still going to skip the next one...

Ren stood there, an arm looped around Tybalt's neck in what might have been a casual, friendly sort of stance to any outsider.
...except it wasn't really, but Ren wasn't about to announce that to the world. Instead he ruffled the black dog's hair with his bad hand, wincing slightly. It was the same hand he extended to the dragon Sheridan, was his name, and the firm grip from the other made a jolt of pain shoot through his fingertips. He masked this, however, with a pleasant smile, and let the dragon speak with Jove and Astra (that was her name), turning his head to cast a somewhat quizzical glance at the black dog.
"Why, we're going mushroom hunting, of course," Ren said, giving Tybalt's neck one last squeeze (he wasn't gripping him that tightly; the dog was overreacting) before letting go. However, before the black dog could make an escape, Ren had looped his tail around Tybalt's, securing him tightly and anchoring him in place.
"Don't tell me you missed the memo..?" he continued mildly, giving the other a rather dry stare. "Really, Tybalt, must you be so slow?"
Jove had disappeared briefly, and Ren turned his head, attempting to locate the puppy. It still (stupidly) made him rather anxious to let the his little brother out of his sight, but the past few weeks Ren had been all too easily prone to anxiety. It was only after repeating to himself several times that they were all all right (for the most part) that he had tried to stop being so overprotective of the boil.
He found Jove standing over by Seiji, a happy look on his pale face, and that at least made Ren feel more at ease; the puppy looked up to the other ghost (literally and figuratively speaking, for that matter), and the older boil was someone who had taken care of Jove before.
There were footsteps to the side and Ren slid his gaze to his left, arching a brow briefly. Here was [yet another boil whom he did not know, with intense red hair and eyes - though that surly expression on his face was not exactly a pleasant one.
His tail still linked with Tybalt's to prevent the other from escaping, Ren stepped over to the demon (at least, that's what Ren assumed he was) and lifted his hand in greeting.
"Yo," he said. "You look a little...er, lost...you here to help find us some mushrooms?"

Ah, so that was what this odd little pansy-fest was all about. Mushrooms. "Fer th'kid?" West asked, gesturing indifferently at Jove. The ghost boil seemed unnaturally jumpy about and concerned over who was coming and going around here, so the demon assumed he had a greater stake in the outcome of events than some of the others. "'Less you're eatin' some?" He smirked. "Wasshe want withem?" West supposed he didn't need to know, but if he was going to help... Bah. Helping. He mentally shrugged. It wasn't like he really had anything better to do.
"'M West, by th'way," he added, making no move to extend a hand or otherwise greet the gryphon boil. He recalled Ren from the whole 'Yaya's Broken Ankle' beach incident, but considering how clingy the marid had been that day, West was inclined to prefer that Ren not remember him at all. "An' I guess I am 'ere t'help." 'Excited' wasn't the word to describe West's current demeanor and tone. No really, it wasn't.
