‘Ding’

The elevator leading out to the main lobby of the hotel slid open, amongst a small group of business men and a family of vacationers, was a young girl with blond hair curling in around her cheeks and chin, bright blue eyes lifting up to watch as the doors reviled the fancy lobby decorations.

Still dressed in pink, though with considerably more white in her travelers outfit, a backpack strapped over her shoulders.
She was the first to step out of the elevator, a blue striped and spotted Vaporeon trotting next to her white boots while a lightly colored Pikachu sat on her shoulder, waving happily at the children that had ridden with them in the elevator.

Hurrying through the short hall into the seating aria of the entrance, where she had made plans to meet the boy Luke, someone who was visiting from a place called Grand Ile.
She had invited him to go with her on this week’s Pokémon journal to the City of Makko.

Slowing down when she entered the room, and glancing around for any sign of the red haired boy.

Had anyone asked, Luke would have firmly insisted that he had been sitting in the lobby for an hour because he was bored, and he would have strongly denied any suggestion that he was even the slightest bit excited about leaving the city and heading somewhere new. He especially wasn't looking forward to traveling with some girl he barely knew, and of course he hadn't volunteered to accompany her himself. His readiness to explain as much when posed with the first opportunity to do so had left him with something of a sour expression for much of the time he had been waiting, and it was a great release of building anxiousness when Rosie emerged from the elevator, her reaction to the area implying that she might have been looking for him.

"Hey," he greeted casually, rising from the seat he had taken, adjusting the weight of the sheath comfortably at his back, and approaching the girl. A luxury ball rested at his belt, and its occupant remained within for the time being; Luke foresaw problems keeping track of the excitable Flareon if he allowed it to roam at his side for the duration of the trip.

"Hey Luke! Your already here. I hope you weren't waiting long." When she saw the one she was looking for standing from one of the seats.
Moving her hands up to hold the straps of her backpack she stepped over to him, greeting him with a warm smile.

Kiss Kiss also smiled brightly when recognizing the human that her trainer was going toward. "Pika!" she greeted as well, holding out a paw toward him.

Vahy'n, sitting her self gently next to Rosie when she stopped, did not looked as thrilled as the other two did about this boy... whow as going to be joining them, and what was a sword?
yellow eyes searched him critically, not making any noise, but remaining polite, and dignified.

Folding her hands behind her back, Rosie leaned to the side a little to peer at what was on the boy's back, blinking with a puzzled look.
"What are you bringing?"

"Nah, not long." Well, he could have been waiting longer, anyway. Acknowledging the Pikachu and its greeting, he replied with a brief wave. It seemed strange to greet a pokemon as though it were a human, but he wasn't sure how better to respond to the extended paw. His brow raised on noticing the Vaporeon at her side; he hadn't seen that one when they last met, had they? It's coloration was stunning, but he wasn't about to embarrass himself by admitting that. "That's an interesting Vaporeon," he noted. That was a reasonable compromise.

He followed her gaze as it sought out his sheath, and he turned slightly to better display it. "A sword," he said. Remembering that the item was a new addition to his person, he thought it necessitated and explanation. "I ran into some crazy chick who said she was with Team Rocket," his words took a slightly bitter tone at the memory. "I thought it'd probably be a good idea to have something I could use for defense if it came down to it. Could have taken care of it if I'd had this when I saw her..."

"Chuuu" Kiss Kiss cooed happily when he returned a greeting to her, nuzzling her cheek against Rosie's happily, causing the young trainer to giggle softly, a hand reaching up to stroke the pikachu.

When Vahy'n was mentioned, Rosie smiled, and looked down at the water type.
"Thank you, This is Vahy'n, She's very special to me, and she helped get me started with pokemon."

When Vahy'n was introduced, the elegant water type bowed her head in greeting, though, she didn't change her expression from that of caution.
infact, she became a little more stiff when he said that he has swords.

This news also caused Rosie to blink in surprise, she had never met anyone who carried swords with them, but what shocked her the most, was his mention that he had run into someone that said they were from Team Rocket.

Her eyes grew wide, her mouth falling open for a moment before she spoke "Team Rocket? are- are you okay? she didn't try and hurt you did she? Or Mieu?"
She looked genuinely worried, he was only here for a week and already he ran into someone from Team Rocket... were they more common than she thought.
Her pokemon were not to happy about it either, Vany'n eyes narrowed even more softly, and Kiss Kiss looked as surprised as Rosie did.

The formal, serious-looking Vaporeon was certainly a switch from the affectionate Pikachu and the other pokemon he had seen in the pizzeria. It was almost surprising to Luke how restrained she was; before encountering Vahy'n, his experiences with pokemon had painted them all to be creatures of emotional extremes - be they friendly or timid. It seemed the things were more diverse than he had expected...

Rosie's overt expression of concern redirected his thoughts, and he crossed his arms with all confidence showing on his features. "Of course I'm fine. She couldn't have hurt me if she tried." Well, she'd certainly yanked him around enough, and maybe he'd be a bit more cross about the whole ordeal if she'd managed to get her arm across his throat properly. As it stood, no harm had come to him, and he was feeling quite assured as a result. What did cause his expression to sour, however, was the thought that led to his explanation, "Looked like she was fleeing the scene. I tried to get what she stole away from her, but..." He placed a hand on the hilt, as if daring that crazy chick to show up in front of him now. "Wish I'd had this with me then," he murmured.

She looked relived when he replied to her concern with great confidence, letting out a soft sigh, though her shoulders were still a little stiffer than they were a moment ago.
"I'm glad,"
It saddened her that Luke said the Rocket was stealing a pokemon... and that he wasn't able to get it back, her heart beat painfully a few times, knowing that the owner of that stolen pokemon must be feeling the same thing...

Continuing to listen to him with a soft tilt of her head, she followed his hand down to the sword with him.
Here she hesitated looking over the weapon before looking back up at Luke "You wouldn't... really hurt someone, would you?"

The way she asked the question, seemed as if she wasn't even sure she was phrasing it correctly, there was concern, and hesitance, but not like she was accusing him.
She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about hurting someone, especially with a sword, but he came from a different land, maybe they had ways of dealing with bad people there that she didn't know.

The question brought a frown to his face, though it wasn't a frown in anger or offense. "Not for no reason," he replied, "but if someone attacked me or you..." He raised a thoughtful hand to his hair. "I mean, I didn't learn to use a sword so I could hurt people, and I didn't buy this sword so I could hurt people. I learned it 'cause I thought it was cool, and it was a fun way to exercise. And I have this now," his hand returned to the hilt demonstratively, "so I can protect people, not so I can hurt them." Protecting one often meant hurting another, he realized, but the fact that innocent bystanders were being made to suffer allowed him to come to terms with that quickly.

Realizing that he was saying some corny things again, he folded his arms once more. "I don't plan to use it unless I have to anyway," he concluded with a shrug.

Rosie had never in her life considered the thought of hurting someone before, to her everyone was precious.... Growing up she felt that way, and for all her training she had never faltered on this belief.
Even when Team Rocket was attacking her, when her own life was threatened, fighting back didn't pop into her mind... but maybe it should have, she had started to consider this after her first meeting with Luke.

After hearing the way he explained his sword use, and the purpose of protecting himself and other, she had to admit, it drew a sort of peaceful conclusion in her heart.
Swords were usually used as instruments of pain and death, at least that was the common view of them, but the perspective he put on it, made much more sense.

She listened to him talk with raised eyebrows, and as he finished she smiled gently And gave a nod of understanding.
"I hope you don't have to." She added with a gentle nod.
She hoped Team Rocket wasn't as common as they were starting to seem...

"I've never met someone who could use a sword before, is that something thats more common in your country?" she asked him, swinging her arms a little as she took a few steps to start to lead them out of the hotel.

"Yeah, well..." His first and middle finger traced the outline of the hilt before he let his hand fall to a side. "Me too." His experience with the sword was outside of actual combat, and while he had confidence enough with the art to give himself the role of the protector, he wasn't sure how he felt against facing an opponent with the intent of drawing blood. His plan at the moment was to brandish the blade as a distraction to any offending parties and deal a swift blow to their faces to disable them. Ideally, however, there would be no need for combat at all.

"Mm, dunno," he said with a shrug. "I think I heard once that the duke can fight with a sword, but I don't know if that makes it common... Could just be something that the nobles--" Ah, oops. He wasn't supposed to talk about that. He cleared his throat briefly. "Could just be something people do for fun, like for exercise. I mean, that's why I do it." Not the best save he'd ever made, no.

Tilting her head slightly in wonder as to why he cut off his explanation so suddenly when the subject got to nobility, blinking a couple of times when he seemed to take a moment regain himself and continue in a different direction from where it seemed to be leading.
It was clearly someting he was trying not to talk about... she wondered if that meant what she thought... he certainly looked like someone who would be nobility.

Just think about it! a run away prince! he dressed in those strange but very nicely made clothes, he was sheltered when he was at home, the way he acted, very stand off behavior, but very noble and kind at heart, and now he used a sword.
If that wasn't a prince, or some kind of noble blood, Rosie didn't know what was.

She didn't make comment on it though, she just smiled and nodded.
"If you have fun with it, than good~"
She stepped forward, turning on that foot for only a moment to look back at him as she walked, the next step taking her back forward out onto the sidewalk.
"Do you practice forms with it or something? what do you do to practice?"

Luke followed her as she proceeded, completely oblivious to her musings on his upbringing. As best he knew, he'd made a perfect save and Rosie wasn't questioning the shift in his phrasing at all. Outside of the hotel, he swung his arms in a brief arc, imitating the basic stance of a blow with a sword. "At home I'd spar with my teacher," he explained. "It's a little harder here, since I don't know anyone else that uses a sword, so I pretty much stick to forms."

Sparing with his teacher, the more he talked about it the more interesting this sword style was sounding. And she knew how important instructors were, how close they can become to being family.
Tilting her head, watching his arms move in what her best assumption would be a proper stance and position to hold the sword, and move it.
Kiss Kiss switched shoulder, perching her paws on top of Rosies head as she looked over at look with an impressed "Chuuuu"

"I've never seen someone use a sword before, later, if you wouldn't mind, do you think you could do one of your forms?"
She asked this in a very polite, un-intrusive kind of way, knowing some people were really uncomfortable about preforming in front of someone else.

Rosie continued to take the lead for them, heading in the direction of Northwest that would take them around the end of the mountain by the City.

"Sure!" An earnest grin spread on his face, enthused by the opportunity to show off his skills, especially towards someone who wouldn't know when his stance was wrong. Luke was not one of those unfortunate individuals who suffered discomfort on being observed. Quite the opposite, he rather enjoyed having attention focused on himself - probably more than was reasonable. Pushing his hands into his pockets, he continued to follow at a casual stride.

Rosie's posture perked up considerably, elated that he seemed to be so pleased with this idea!
This also meant that she had learned of something that he really enjoyed, it was clear to her that working with a sword made him happy.
Since she met him she hadn't discovered many things that made him happy, much of what she did find had seemed to bring him down a little. but not this!

"Where we're going we'll be passing by a huuuge open field," she explained, opening her arms wide to emphasis 'huuuuge',
the girl was still in the habit or turning in her face to walk backward for a few steps, mostly to be able to make eye contact with him while she walked.
"There will be lots of room for practice, we can take a break there okay?"

It was a great place to relax, and the younger ones play.
this was really exciting, she had never traveled with someone before, she met people on the way, yes, but she had always started out, and come home with just her and her pokemon.

Spinning back to face front again, she folded her hands behind her back, looking down at Vahy'n with a happy look, this seemed to get the Vaporeon to perk her fins up a little.

The longer they walked, the thinner the crowds and buildings got, heading to a more gradual natural setting as they traveled further and further from the city.
"How has your stay in the city been so far Luke? ... well, other than that one Rocket that you had to meet..."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Outside the city limits, a dark blond women shoved her hands into her pockets, striding casually down the warn gravle and dirt path that would lead into Camphoreon.

Hazel eyes were kept up, and aware of her surroundings, watching people as they passed, (not caring to reply to their greetings, or if she did, it was a quick nod)
She was in a pare of fitted cargo pants, with warn black boots and T-shirt.
A messenger bag hung at her side, holding whatever gear a normal traveler would have, including her League registered Pokedex, that she had put away and forgot about since joining Team Rocket.
Today she was supposed to play a part though... as much as she disliked it.

Agent Faleen would prefer to take the SUV into the city, but normal trainers didn't go around driving cars to destinations. so she tucked the car away, back in a safe hiding place, and continued toward the city on foot.
Since the news of her families home being set of fire, from the news, Sorano and a message from Rosie herself, Faleen knew that she wasn't going to be able to use the excuse of being out of region for much longer...
the women had an appearance to keep up, and it was probably way past due the time she payed a visit to her family, and keep up the rouge that Faleen was a good hard working and honest trainer.

She hoped after this she wouldn't have to return home for another long stretch of time.
