 Retreating sun rays caressed the still Kawani lands in a loving manner. Giving that one last breath of warmth over the land before the coolness of night stepped in to take its place. It wasn't often that Bourkan found himself enjoying the simple things that made life beautiful, but on this evening, he was doing just that.
His bulky form stood atop a small hill, an ideal spot for his viewing, just watching the encroaching shadows. The black cloth that normally covered his eyes hung on the branch of the lone tree that rested on the hill. A gentle breeze played with the strands of the stallion's mane. Bourkan shifted and then blew a particularly annoying strand out of his eyes.
A mare who'd hovered over him as a foal- if she were friend of foe he could not say- told him that during all his "mindless running about" he by passed beauty that he should stop to take in. That life had no purpose if they didn't appreciate all the beauty that was offered.
...What a load of crap!
Nostrils flared as Bourkan released an annoyed snort. Sure, he couldn't deny that a sunset was beautiful. But he failed to grasp just why he had to stop and stare at it. It would be there tomorrow, and every day after that! And more importantly, this was so boring!

 Oh yes it was a beautiful evening indeed. The colours that cascaded along the grounds gave almost a new feel and otherwordly air to the advancing dusk. Ferra just so happened to be one of those Soquili who enjoyed a nice sunset. She'd never been one to take things fast, actually quite the opposite in fact. There never was any need for rushing or hurrying, all things would get to their place in due time. And so the mare took her own sweet time walking along the short soft grasses that carpeted the ground below her. Vibrant, almost glowing, neon blue eyes gazed at the lovely scene that was dropping just over the horizon to the left. Even a few meek deer drifted out from their confines within the forest to take a peek as well. Of course they weren't frightened of the female, as she posed no threat really. Her good traveling buddy Gale Wind would probably like this... Maybe even Gabriel; though he'd probably have something negative to say about it.
An amused grin grew along her lips just thinking about her few but very close 'bros'. They always provided such entertainment.
Her black hooves took her up a slow to grow incline, the grass much thicker up here than what dwelled below; due to being closer to the sun. She wasn't really on her way anywhere, but probably just a nice place to rest for the night. The day had been long, and she'd only just returned from the mountains again with her loyal companion. Though they traveled often, their company with one another was dwindling. Perhaps he'd found some mare of stallion of interest. She wouldn't be surprised. That's usually what always happened, right? But her calm and mellow expression didn't deter from such thoughts. She was used to being on her own, and didn't mind it too much.
As she climbed the swelling hill, her ears swiveled forward, and her steps slowed upon catching the down wind's accompanying scents. Someone was up there. Pausing briefly, her eyes flickered up to see Bourkan. It was instantly that she knew who he was. That one fello she'd played with a few times as a foal. He was a funny little guy back then... but what he was like today was beyond her. It was surprising to see that he seemed to be giving his respects to the departing daylight...
Blinking lethargically, and waiting a few more seconds, Ferra finally continued towards him. Once she was practically at his side, she turned her head to look onward as he was; her figure enormously shorter next to his,
"Nice sunset, huh?" she asked in a mused fashion.
