The ocean waves broke in a steady rhythm against the cliff below as the moon rose slowly over the dark blue ocean. All of it was really quite picturesque even to her at best blurred vision.
She smiled her head tilted upward and her long thick hair blew gently in the crisp spring breeze that clung so delicately to the last scraps of winters chill as she had let it loose from its braids for once. It had been a rather taxing day and this was . . .a most excellent way of ending it. Her vision had been getting steadily worse so accidents had been getting far more frequent. To say it the least it was becoming less of a nuance and far more of a major problem. It had almost gotten her killed during that run in with that chemosh character. The very thought of it sent little shock waves of fear. How close had she come to being LUNCH for that . . .that . . .slick stallion.
Giving her wings a stretch she laid herself down gently into some thick cool grass with a sigh as it felt most excellent against her newly acquired bumps and bruises.

He landed easily on the ground, his wings folding up. He could do it so effortlessly, but then he'd been flying for so long. From the mountains to the meadows and then finally to the ocean's shore when winter came. Always just his mother and himself, traveling most often during the night. It was too quiet during that time but then they could travel so quickly during the night, when mostly everyone else was still asleep.

Jericho's gold eyes looked around, taking in the darkening sky with the rising moon. He could not deny the pull the moon had on him and although he could not explain why he felt such a connection to it, this feeling had been with him since the first time he laid eyes on the moon. He supposed it was similar to his mother's constant talk about the stars or even his affection for the ocean. His head turned away from the sky as his eyes focused instead on the ocean in front of him.

The waves were splashing against the cliff and the sandy shore. He watched transfixed for a few moments before turning away. He started to walk along the shore, the waves brushing against the bottom of his legs and hooves. The ocean was his favourite place to go to, when he wanted to think, to enjoy himself or even cool off when he was furious. The ocean could always calm him down. He glanced at it again before looking around. He wasn't exhausted yet but finding a place to rest his body after all that flying he did might be good. At least for an hour or two.

She blinked once- then twice -then three times to make sure what she was seeing was really what she was seeing . As she watched what looked like a piece of the sky drift gracefully downward. No not a falling star or anything of that nature but more rather a piece of the swirling blue and star speckled sky itself. Gold that seemed to adorn it loosely glinted here and there then it passed between her line of sight and the brightly glowing full moon. giving her a more clear view of it he shape was that of a soquilli of that she was certain. Was it perhaps an angie? surely only Angie moved so divinely in their decent from the star studded heavens above. besides she had never seen one before perhaps this would be her lucky day. The wings were indeed feathered not stretched skin across bone like one of the more . . .contemptuous types.
silently she watched unoticed as it touched down on the sandy shore not far from where she was. The dark blue ocean water swirling about around it with the back drop of the dark sky it almost was lost inside. Its wings stayed aloft like a swan. Reii loved Sawns.
Then it looked her direction as if to see if any one else was around. for a second two voices argued within her. One fearful of her past experiences especially more recent ones told her she should hide or take wing.
but something else said "you cant live your life in fear Reii".
she took the latter's advice. Then lifted her head and gave her loose icy blue mane a toss to keep it from her eyes and so as to be noticed.
"its just me here . . . I'm not interrupting you am i?" she inquired. her eyes squinting as she tried to get a better look at who or what this being was before her.

He was still looking around the area when he heard the voice. It startled him, causing him to pause in his tracks. He turned his head from the right to instead look straight in front of him. He noticed her then. He blinked his heavily lidded eyes slowly. How did he miss her? After he landed and started to look around, Jericho was certain he looked everywhere around him. And yet, he completely missed her.

He took in her dark coat with the pale blue tribal markings. Her mane and tail were light in colour too, just like her markings were. There seemed to be somethings in her mane and tail too but he was currently too far away to tell exactly what they were. Jericho ran his gold eyes over her wings, they were feathered like his but looked different in the way they were folded. He tilted his head to the side at the sight of the pale horn on her head. He never saw anyone with a horn before. It certainly looked dangerous, he would have to be careful.

Despite his uncertainty over her horn, Jericho drew closer to the mare. Admittedly he was intrigued by her, she was different from him in looks and since he was new to these lands, he needed to know more. Why did she have a horn? Was it merely used for protection or something else? As he stopped about six feet from her, her words finally registered in his mind. Right, he was supposed to answer her. His mother would probably shake her head at him.

"Not at all. I am looking for a place to stay for a few hours but you are not interrupting me." Jericho gave her a small smile. "I apologize for taking so long to answer, I hadn't realized there was anyone else around and hearing your voice was startling." His gold eyes flickered across her mane and tail and saw that those somethings were actually black flowers and a few white feathers.

"oh don't apologize." she replied lifting a hoof a if to bat it dismissively. Then added with a slight laugh and a tilt of her head. "I'm not hard to over look. Being unassuming is kind of my thing."
She looked at him looking at her and her eyes lifted to look up at the black flowers in her hair. She had almost completely forgotten them but Now she felt rather silly. Was it silly to wear flowers in her hair? She had to wonder. Of course then again she was quite silly herself in general.
"they are black Daisies. I just found a patch of them this morning near where I'm staying so figured I might as well go ahead and try something different with my self."
Tired of squinting she marched right up to him till the air only held about a foot of space between them. His coat was almost beyond deep like looking into space.it was such a perfect illusion in fact she had to blink once or twice to stop the sensation that she was falling into him. Like when you stand next to the edge of a chasm and you swear you feel yourself being pulled down just by looking at it.
"I'm Reii Yuki it a pleasure to make your acquaintance- . .?" she said letting her sentence taper enough for him to finish it.

She was dark in colour, she could blend in with her surroundings, but she also had bright hair that was quite noticeable, even from a distance. Jericho didn't fully agree with her assessment of herself as being overlooked, but he said nothing, choosing to listen instead. He eyed her horn again as she started to talk about the black daisies she had collected and put in her hair.

"I've collected flowers for my mother in the past, seashells too. She put them in her hair, well the flowers. The seashells she made into a necklace." The words had come spewing from his mouth before he could stop himself, he hadn't expected to mention his mother so soon. His eyes looked at the black daisies in her hair again. "They look nice." He admitted, giving her a small smile. They stood out against her ice blue hair and they were nice looking.

When she crept closer to him, Jericho felt nervous but stood his ground, he even managed to stand straighter, to look taller. He didn't want the horn near him as it still looked dangerous to him but he didn't want to come across as a coward either. Strength and confidence was important. But, Jericho still didn't understand why she came closer, he had heard and saw her easily. Perhaps this was how they did it here, everything was still new to him.

At her introduction, he bowed his head a little to her, as his mother had taught him. "Yes, it is good to meet you." Was this what she wanted to hear? Her voice had trailed off, or was he supposed to say his name? "My name is Jericho. Are you always referred to as Reii Yuki?" He inquired politely. Two names, that was different.

"Oh thank you I was just starting to feel a little silly for wearing them." she smiled a little relived.
Mother? Honestly she assumed he wasent born more likely that he had just fallen from the night sky one day like she had seen him do only a few short moments before.
"She sounds lovely." she commented.
She then noted his change of posture for a moment she was puzzled but then It struck her like it always eventually did.
"Am I too close?-"  she asked a took a large step back to give him some space "im sorry it's not something I do on purpose. it's just I cant gauge depth or see very  well so the problem compacts to personal space violations for nearly everyone or everything I meet. If I do it again Jericho don't be afraid to tell me. " she said with a nervous kind of laugh.
"as to your question most pick one of the two names to call me as opposed to both of them all the time. For example a simple Reii will do wonderfully."

He still couldn't believe that he had mentioned his mother so soon. Jericho had come to these lands hoping to learn about the land and its inhabitants, he didn't think it was necessary to mention his own background unless he absolutely had to. This mare hadn't even inquired after his family, so why had he felt the need to mention it? Was it because of his desire to fit in and make a good impression?

Jericho frowned slightly but continued to listen to Reii Yuki. When she didn't say anything more about his mother, Jericho was surprised and it showed on his face. He had been expecting her to ask questions about his mother or even his father but she chose not to. Had she sensed his discomfort?

When the dark coated mare stepped back from him, Jericho couldn't deny that he was relieved. He hadn't wanted to back down from her but he hadn't wanted to mention anything either. He thought it might be impolite if he had. With Reii Yuki admitting that she had difficulty seeing, Jericho didn't know what to say. He couldn't imagine having to live with such a disadvantage.

"You've had this condition all your life?" He asked. 'Your eyesight, I mean." He further specified before nodding at her comment about letting her know if she got close again. "Reii, it is then." He nodded again, her first name did have a nice ring to it.

He looked around again at his surroundings. It was very dark out now but with the moon's light, it wasn't too bad. The sky was clear tonight, allowing for stars to be seen. He looked over at the cliff where the ocean's waves continuously beat against it. At a particularly hard wave, he could feel small droplets of water hit his face. His nose twitched. "Do you often stay up during the night?"

"I remember seeing a little better when I was a foal but i got sick and after I was-" the word caught in her throat abandoned was still difficult to say so she opted for the more polite way of saying it. Clearing her throat to play it off she tried again and hoped he wouldn't think into it.  "Sorry -I ah *cough* what I mean is after my family moved on my sickness got worse, and my eyesight with it.  For a time I couldn't see at all a human and two others found me just in time and nursed me back to health. My sight came back true its not very good but At least it's not all . . .dark anymore." she said with a shrug and a smile. Always the positive attitude at least on the outside. Truthfully though that darkness haunted her day and night.
"I like to look at it so yes I do come up here whenever The urge strikes me." she nodded toward the ocean and took a step toward the edge.  " I lost the stars, the moon, the ocean, the sun rises and sets once if I loose it again this time I want to be able to remember it. I want to say I appreciated it fully while I had it." she gave a little laugh "besides it feels . . . Safe here. Silly right? But enough of my nonsense. What about you?" she asked looking back over her shoulder at him.

He cocked his head to the side when she paused in her explanation concerning her eyesight. He stared at her, waiting to see if she would continue or not. He couldn't deny the fact that he was curious, intensely curious, but in the end it was her decision if she wanted to tell him everything. It was surprising that she felt comfortable sharing so much with him already, Jericho could never do that. When Reii continued her tale, his eyebrows raised in response.

Did he misunderstand her or did she truly say that her family moved on, possibly without her? Jericho frowned, his eyebrows furrowing together. With Reii mentioning the human and the other two that helped her, it seemed to him like her family hadn't been around. His mother had always been there for him, even now her presence was still with him through her stories and lessons.

"It was good of them to help you." An illness though, terrible. He still wasn't sure what else to say. He could inquire after the human, Jericho had never seen a human before. Or he could ask about the other two that Reii mentioned in her explanation. Were they animals? While Jericho debated on what he should or shouldn't say, he vaguely heard Reii Yuki answer his question.

"I agree, it does feel safe even when the waves splash loudly." Jericho turned to look at the ocean, his gold eyes watching the waves as they moved in and out. He loved it, he liked how the ocean could be tranquil at one moment and at the next, tempestuous. It was special to him and it was strengthened by what he could do when the moon was full. He glanced at the moon, no where near full yet.

"What?" Jericho was startled from his thoughts of the ocean as Reii asked after him.

Realizing she was still laying down she got to her hooves. A little stiff a little sore but those things would pass with time.
"Oh i just felt as if i had been doing most of the talking well more like prattling, so i figured i would hand the floor over to you for a moment. But it was very good of them to help me they restored more than my health with their kindness . . .they did wonders for my faith in others as well. Me back then would have just stayed hidden in the grass and waited for you too leave. Then we wouldn't be here at all having this wonderful experience."
She took a deep breath and let it out with a sigh before shaking some loose grass off her coat.
he seemed a little uncomfortable "Im not keeping you from anything am I?"
