Things had been a bit rough for Chaonis recently, but he was chugging along just fine. What did he care if he got hurt in fights, or even lost them? A lot, actually. And he would endeavor to seek out and win every fight he had yet lost, or failed to complete. That was his new goal. His first goal, considering he rarely made them.

He was going to keep getting stronger, and teach the Negaverse he was not someone to mess with. And Destiny City was his turf.

Tonight, though, he was hoping for a night off. Every super hero needed time to recover and rest, and no one could be expected to save lives and protect the innocent all day every day. He needed some rest and he had been trying to get it by escaping his home and his annoying father, and the little yippy dog. He was stretched on top of a jungle gym in the park, but he should have known better than to go there.

At night he didn't have to worry about kids, but there were always youma around. He didn't feel it until a long, spindly hand wrapped around his ankle and yanked him off the jungle gym, spinning him around fast enough for his brain to feel like it was bouncing around his head before it let him go. He went flying into the sand pit nearby, skidding and getting buried under the sand. And lost toys. And cat poop.

"Ugh, what the ********?" he coughed, glaring at the youma.

What rotten luck.

Of all the people for Sailor Rosalind to run into, why did it have to be Nathan?! Just two nights prior, something awkwardly amazing happened. They kissed, and for whatever reason, Rosalind couldn't get it out of her mind. It wasn't the way he did it that was... romantic... it was the setting. Outer space, under a powder blue planet, in the ruins of a once-beautiful palace. Couldn't get much more romantic! Rosalind figured it was just a one-time thing, and that it would never happen again.

She half debated leaving the guy alone to fend for himself, but then on the other hand, that was kind of contradictory to what Rosalind stood for as a scout. What if he died?! Why did she even care? He destroyed stuff, so maybe it wasn't that much of a loss. But on the other hand, everyone deserved a good chance at life... Whatever. She'd go for it!

"Looks like you could use some help," she called from the top of a tree, "a woman's touch ought to do the trick!" Snapping her fingers, Rosalind summoned her silver coin barrage to distract the monster while Nate had a chance to transform.

The displeased fighter for good got to his feet, dusting himself off. He was aching already, and he knew he was going to have many reasons to regret this fight tonight. Running into Rosalind and being saved by her not the least of all.

He took cover and powered up, stepping out to continue glaring at her, as he had been before. But his face cracked into a grin and he put his hands on his hips.

"Can't stay away from me, huh?"

He laughed at that. Best way to deal with something awkward? Make sure she was more upset about it than he was. He watched her attack, remembering that those coins stung. Working with her was always a pain, in many ways. He couldn't charge in with his usual attack pattern, because he didn't want to get smacked by coins.

"Alright, how do you want to handle this?"

He didn't realize at the moment that she hadn't seen him powered up yet. He had to take a moment to pose, then, hands on his hips. He had goggles on his head, his armor looked a bit more solid, and the caution tape was wrapped around his waist more times than before. The Super Senshi of Danger was ready for a fight.

Rosalind scrunched her nose up in disgust and displeasure. "Oh, yes, Chaonis. You certainly run wild in my thoughts, don't you know?" She pretended to not care about the situation that had happened before, trying her hardest to be aloof. "Seriously, though, I don't even care. I am just here to extinguish the dark energy in the area," she spat tersely, "afterwards, I'm off to a spa. I deserve some relaxation time." All of this was said from beneath the protective branches of a tree, while the coins rained upon the youma.

And then came the display of grandeur. What, did he think he was the big man of sailor soldiers just because his powers had been upgraded? Uhm, talk about late to the party-- any soldier worth their salt had become a Super months prior! She didn't even take the time to acknowledge his new get-up. In fact, Rosalind did just the opposite-- she began to dote upon her own appearance, flipping a lock of smooth hair over her shoulders. But where had the youma gone?

"Uh. Chaonis. Where... is the monster?"

Chaonis laughed, assuming that, of course, her sarcasm was just hiding the truth she dare not face. Or something like that. It had been a while since he caught any commercials for cheesy romance movies to reference for these kinds of jokes.

Tony watched them all the time, maybe he would know better.

Chaonis grunted in disapproval when she didn't respond to his posturing. Flipping his hand dismissively, with a very theatrical huff, he sashayed by her and looked around for the youma. He was mocking her, of course, doing his best Rosalind impersonation as he put his hands on his hips, chest puffed up and out, leaning forward for emphasis. He looked at her with a sharp glare.

"Where did you put it?" he asked, in a high pitched, less than accurate attempt at her voice, "you are so useless! Playing with your hair at a time like this, and you let the youma get away! Not to mention the mess this place is in, and the way the wind is mussing with my hair. All of this must be your fault."

He tilted his head at her, expecting her to apologize, but his attention was drawn as the youma flickered in his vision. It had gotten to the other side of the tree, and slammed into it hard enough to break it.

"Look out!" He yelled, dropping his act and running to grab her. He couldn't push her out of the way of the tree, and certainly didn't have the direct instinct to get himself crushed by it and thus be useless in the fight, so he pulled her to him and they were enveloped by the branches rather than the trunk itself.
PostPosted: Sun Apr 10, 2011 9:01 pm

"Who are you mocking? You look like a chicken-- honestly, at a time like this..." And then it clicked-- he was mimicking her! "How dare you," she began, stomping forward with a hand itching to slap, "I do not walk like that!" But something strange happened. Amongst the teasing and leering, the youma had found time to strike the unsuspecting duo, and with a tree, no less! Rosalind could do little more than shriek like she was five, but all of a sudden, the auburn-haired soldier was pulled out of harm's way.

Although she felt twigs snapping on her legs and leaves adorned her skirt, Rosalind was relatively unharmed and watched as the tree slid by, sinking into the ground along the way. Her first instinct was to blame Chaonis for letting them get attacked. 'Of course it's his fault,' she thought, 'he was distracting her with his stupid, ugly, rotten face!' But after reflecting over the situation at hand, he had pulled her out of the way... It would be best to just not say anything, because Hell would freeze over before she made any sort of statement that had even the slightest hint of appreciation.

"You can let go of me now," Rosalind said in a sassy tone, "always distracted by something, aren't you?"

Choanis sputtered, spitting out a branch that had inconveniently homed itself in his mouth. That was the last time he opened himself to chances like that by yelling to keep Rosalind safe. He shook his head, leaves tumbling around him. It took some struggling, but he got free of the grabbing branches.

"Hey, you were distracted too," he pointed out, shaking his head, "like I said, you can't keep your eyes off of me. But we'll have to discuss how impossible to resist I am later. That magnetism just saved your life, and now we've got to kill this youma before it gears up for another attack."

He grinned at her, moving toward the youma without making a plan with her.

"Warning!" He called, punching his fist into his hand, "earthquake zone!"

It was time to punch and kick, two of his favorite things, and see if he couldn't kill the youma without the assistance of shiny little coins bouncing off their heads. Plus, he wanted to show off his new powered up attack a bit, in his distinctive way.

"Oh, yes. You make me speechless, Chaonis. Please. Stop. I'm begging." She sighed, and watched as Chaonis dashed forward, rearing to attack. Not being one to allow others the opportunity to bathe in the limelight, Rosalind stood next to the youma, preparing to attack it herself. She didn't even pay an ounce of attention to Chaonis as he prepared his attack, and as such, when the ground trembled beneath the youma, Rosalind fell along with it. "Chaonis, you stupid jerk!!"

Suddenly, the youma seemed rather perturbed-- it jumped high into the air, then slammed its enormous weight into the pavement that Rosalind was now laying on. When it did so, the pavement smashed in half, with the sides jerking up suddenly. The Soldier of Wealth was then sent flying several stories high into the air, shrieking the entire way up. She was blaming Chaonis the entire way up, of course, for angering the creature in such a manner.

As she began to descend, Rosalind tried to find something soft to land on-- unfortunately, there was nothing. Except for a garbage dump, which Rosalind would never land in. So she just let herself descend, shrieking the entire way down.

Chaonis was having fun and really didn't notice Rosalind as she whined at him. Or whatever it was she was doing. Going on with the joke, maybe. It didn't matter anyway, he was punching a youma to death, and fighting always took his attention. He was having fun, after all, and that was his main goal in life.

He jumped back when he felt like he had gathered enough energy, grinning as he let the magic expel and race along the ground in the form of an earthquake toward the youma. He could direct the damage now, but not exactly pinpoint it. And he certainly couldn't control how a youma reacted to his attack.

When the thing jumped and sent Rosalind flying, Chaonis watched with great interest and a sheepish, 'I know I'm going to be yelled at' look on his face. He grinned as she twirled in the air. It was the most majestic he had seen her, surely.

So, so graceful.

It looked like he was going to have to catch her again, remembering vaguely that he had done this before, or at least something similar. He ran forward, using her piercing screeching to pinpoint her location rather than watching her, his eyes on her growing shadow on the ground. Sliding feet first, he managed to catch Rosalind but had no way to stop the momentum either of them had built up, which sent them both crashing to the floor and spilling over one another until they skidded to a stop, Rosalind on top of the less than comfortable, armored senshi of Danger.

"Blerh," Chaonis said, dizzy.

Ooph!!

Opening her eyes, Rosalind found herself on top of Chaonis. Oh, he had definitely planned for this all to happen. It was an elaborate scheme-- first he had planted the kiss upon her lips, then he got her to land on top of him. How despicably perverted of him! But before she let herself scream at him, Rosalind gathered the facts in her mind. Where would he have got a youma from? Unless he suddenly turned coat and wanted to work for the Negaverse, Rosalind didn't really see him being the one to pull the strings of the situation.

Picking herself up, Rosalind dusted her skirt off and stepped on his chest, puffing her chest up like a bird. Intimidation tactics may have worked amongst animals-- but could Rosalind look truly scary? "Sailor Chaonis has witnessed your wrongdoings," she called out, her heel digging into his armor, "I cannot allow such evil behavior! In the name of Rosalind, you're bounced!" She didn't take the time to thank Chaonis, opting instead to pull off one of her pumps and chucking it into the youma's head.

It proceeded to stumble towards the two, snarling all the while. Maybe this was a job best left to a boy.

Chaonis was a bit dazed and wobbly after catching her. Or acting as a less than comfortable pillow to cushion her fall, at the very least. He shook his head, lifting his hand to his forehead as he struggled to regain himself.

She was babbling at him, and he couldn't miss the chance to mock her, after all.

He couldn't say anything, though, before he realized she wasn't talking to him, but rather the youma that was still coming towards them. He dusted himself off and stared at her as she threw her shoe at it.

"Really? Your shoe? Seriously?"

He looked at her with a disappointed expression on his face, shaking his head and clicking his tongue behind his teeth. He heaved a profound sigh and dramatically moved forward, throwing his arm in front of her as if to keep her from walking forward and doing any more damage. To their reputations as monster killers, at the very least.

"Maybe you should sit down, before you get a thorn in your paw," he said, then grinned at her. He was still in control of his attack, though he wouldn't be able to hold the energy for much longer. Maybe he could get in another good hit before it had to be dispelled. "Better find a table to hide under!"

That was the best advice he could give, or rather wanted to give, before he charged the youma, swinging his fist right for the thing's face before the earth started to shake violently at their feet. Rosalind was still close enough to them to be caught up in the isolated earthquake, as well.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 19, 2011 11:56 pm

Wobbling around as the ground shook beneath her, Rosalind couldn't help but feel anger towards Chaonis. As always. It was his fault that the youma had got so angry in the first place, it was his fault that Rosalind now had an earthquake to contend with, and it was his fault that she was always so angry!! She fell once, straight on her rump, as she scrambled to get away-- his new attack sure was gaudy. Hopefully he didn't see her pratfall, because that would have just been a giant opening for Chaonis to tease.

But, spectacularly, the youma had been dusted by the time that Rosalind turned around. "I suppose you aren't completely inept," she called out, "you're becoming surprisingly efficient at killing nowadays, aren't you?" Traipsing forward, watching as the youma dust blew in the wind, Rosalind stared at Chaonis. "So. Uhm. How have you... been?"

It felt so awkward not barking something at his face, but she didn't know what else to do.

Nothing was ever Chaonis' fault. Rosalind surely knew that by now. Even if his power had caused the earthquake, he had given her fair warning. Kind of. Well, she knew what his magic had done before, so she should have at least assumed the upgraded power would be similar, right?

It was her fault for not paying attention, clearly, if she wanted to be mad about getting shaken up.

He very much enjoyed watching her fall because of it, though, catching it out of the corner of his eye while he fought the youma. It burst into dust after a couple more punches, though only the first hit had managed to land while he had his magic boost. It had been enough. He looked at her, dusting himself off and looking proudly.

"Well, some of us have to actually do our jobs. I have to wonder how you and most of the other girly senshi flouncing around in their little skirts or tights, or circus tents in your case, get anything done. Ever."

At her question, though, he looked caught off guard. Like he was only expecting barbed quips, and the moment she asked him a legitimate question and tried to actually talk to him, he had no idea how to handle himself. He stared at her.

"Uh. Fine. You know. Doing the... fighting thing. Why?" he didn't bother hiding how suspicious he sounded, and didn't ask her how she was doing. He was still in banter mode, and he was not sure how to switch gears into something resembling a normal conversation yet. Or that she was really looking to talk to him normally, and not just setting him up for something.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 12:13 am

What a stupid boy. Did he really think she just wanted to make conversation?

No, she was going to win. She hadn't forgotten about their kiss, and how their last encounter had ended-- with her tail between her legs. No, she was going to take him by surprise this time. As he spoke, his lips flapping meaningless words at her, Elegancia stepped forward. She put her gloved hands on his chest, stood on her tip-toes, and planted a kiss on his lips. Yeah, she was definitely going to beat this boy at the game he was always trying to play.

After pulling away, Rosalind cleared her throat, and as if nothing had happened, continued the conversation. "Oh, that's great. I was just curious-- you know, seeing as we always run into eachother and all. I have to say, you're not a completely awful fighter anymore. Maybe you can be my body guard so that I don't have to do so much work all the time!"

The payment? Her presence, of course.

Chaonis was completely thrown off by Rosalind's tactic. Sure, he had pulled the first punch in space, but he hadn't anticipating her throwing a completely unprompted response his way. It was a dirty move, no doubt about it.

At least now the score was even. He had caught her off guard and left her reeling for it and now, it seemed, she had done the same to him. Not that he was going to let her know it.

He stared at her when she pulled away, a lump in his throat and his chest feeling tight, the muscles constricted under the armor where her hands had been. He couldn't clear his throat or even make a sound for a long moment after she pulled back from him.

He shook his head, squeaking as he spoke.

"I am not gonna be your body guard. And if you're just going to... I mean. Hell, what do I care if you get yourself killed in a fight? s**t. I'm going to... I'm out of here."

Retreat. Retreat now.
