okay, based on your experiences, what are the MOST and i mean the MOST IMPORTANT items you need for a BJD, minus the BJD's body parts.

i really need to know this since i am planning to have my own.

please rank it and give reasons why.

...suggestions if possible

It's really a matter of opinion. I think shoes and some sealant like MSC are the most important as shoes protect their feet from scratches when posing and MSC UV Cut protects them from yellowing as fast.

Also you'll need the tools for when you wanna re-wire them. And either eye putty (I use blue tack sweatdrop ) for when changing eyes.
Oh! and hair nets for storing the spare wigs! xd

is it important to have stuff to reseal the make-up and strings even if you don't plan to change the make-up anytime soon?

plus, may i know if underwear is necessary for a BJD? (not that I won't get my BJD, just curious really.)

PANTS.

I cant stand a doll without pants.

They look so pathetic ;-;

Shoes, because they are hard to make and undies. My opinion, however, it's really up to you to choose.

Depending on your doll's gender...

If it's a boy, PANTS. You do not want little dolly penises peeking out at you.
Well, unless you like that sort of thing... And if anyone here does, please don't tell me about it. gonk
If it's a girl, a DRESS.

For boy dolls, I wouldn't bother with underwear. It just makes the pants harder to get on.
If your doll is a girl, I'd get panties, but not bother with a bra, and that's only if your girl is going to be wearing a lot of skirts and dresses.
Basically, if your doll wears pants most of the time, don't bother with underwear.

If you pay for a makeup service, your doll SHOULD come sealed, so there's no need to get a sealant until you want to change the faceup.

I would rank some sort of clothing/covering for your doll at one, a wig at two, and shoes at three.

okay.

is it true that you need underwear to avoid stains on the doll's skin?

I've never had that problem, and I had Bastion sitting in some black twill pants for AAAGES.
And that would only keep stains off of the groin region, unless you're talking long underwear or something.

Even if you put underwear on them for that reason the underwear themselves could stain them.

Key wore the same pair (from Luts) for about... six months straight and now there are little marks on the inside of his thighs were the leg meets the hip joint. Honestly it looks like he's bruised. xd

Still though, I make sure my dolls have underwear since when I bought both of them I wasn't able to get pants. No doll wang staring at me thank you!

so that means i shouldn't let a doll wear stuff all the time?

basically dark clothing or clothing that may have not been pre washed will sometimes, sometimes - stain resin.
i have kept my Sd13 Jun in a very dark dress for a long amount of time (aka, a month) and nothing occured. however, other people have reports of reds coming off easily.
if it does, dont panic! 95% of the time it can be removed with either a gentle cleansing of warm water and a gentle soap, or if its really stubborn, those magic erasers and then a gentle rinse of water.
as a percaution i always keep my girls in light clothing for their long amounts of time, and then switch them out of their dark clothing. the worst enemy ive seen to resin is elongated (constant exposure) to sunlight.
i have also made little jumper slips for my girl's dark dresses to keep it from directly touching the resin. its more or less something you have to watch out for :3

as for something i could never go without? errrm, hard call. its always good to have extra eye putty and elastic. but even then, nothing is 'emergency need immediately' unless your guy or gal is coming naked, then its good to have some clothing fo them :3

Now if I'm going to let Key wear something for a long period of time I make sure it's not something dark, that's all. It all depends on the fabric too. I have an all black outfit I got off ebay and I've never had problems with it staining, but the jeans I have turn Key's knees blue every time he wears them for more than a few days.

So far the only thing I haven't been able to get off with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (which is your best friend, seriously buy some) are the stains that I mentioned look like bruises and there is a little blue in his knee joints. I don't think you'd notice it if you didn't know it was there though.

XDD I'm so thinking naughty thoughts.

Darker colours of fabric can stain. Mainly the natural dyed stuff stains. If it's synthetic, there's normally not a problem.
