 Masashi had once again left the safety of his den to wander around near the watering hole. He looked around for those lizard things his mother warned him against in the water and when he didn't see any, he went down to get a drink. Once that was completed he looked around for something entertaining.
Oh look, a grasshopper! Practicing his hunting was always a worthwhile occupation of his time. With a cute little growl he pounced on the little creature. It hopped right before his paws landed on the spot it had been on. Arg. He'd get it. Slowly and sneakily he snuck up on his target and tried pouncing again. Only to be thwarted, again.

 It had been a slow and lazy day for Isuke'Boon. For breakfast she'd had leftovers from her kill the day before, and then she'd napped. Awakening from her nap she found that she was thirsty. She had given a grand stretch and then made her way to the closest watering hole. She hoped that if there were any other creatures there that it would be a more pleasant interaction then her last one.
As she approached she noticed a small cub of some kind pouncing very ineffectively on a grasshopper. She couldn't quite make out what kind of cub it was, but then she wouldn't admit to having much experience with any cubs that weren't a lion. She bent her head and lapped gratefully up at the water, soothing her nap induced thirst. As she licked her muzzle clean of excess dripping water, she turned to watch the cubs attempts at pouncing again. "You need to get lower to the ground." She offered him. She thought it was a him anyway.

Masashi looked up, and up and up at the huge ... lady (he could tell from her voice that she was a she) that was talking to him. His eyes widened. This thing was bigger then Mommy and Daddy, maybe even combined! "L-lower to the ground?" When should he be lower? before pouncing or while sneaking?

It seemed as if she had frightened the young cub in some way. Isuke'Boon wasn't really sure how, all she'd done was try to give him pointers. "Yes, lower to the ground right before pouncing." She clarified and tried to make her voice sound a little more gentle. Maybe she'd been to scary sounding. Though it also occurred to her that she was quite large and this cub was quite small.
She padded over closer to him, but not too close. She didn't want to frighten him further. Bending herself low to the ground she entered the perfect pouncing position. "See? Like so."

"Oh, um, ok." Masashi said and tried to copy her pouncing stance. He was lower to the ground and when he leapt, he missed completely. He'd have to work on aim from a different view point. She'd softened her voice a bit and that made him a little more trusting. "I'm Masashi." He smiled at her as he tried pouncing from the lower position again. "If you don't mind, uh, what kinda cat are you?" He'd never seen a tufted tail like that. And she was huge.

Isuke'Boon watched the cub with an appraising eye. He was doing a bit better position wise, though his aim was still off. It seemed that he was less scared now which pleased her. It also seemed that he was curious, just like any other cub. Not that she had much experience, she just remembered how curious her and her siblings had been. It was handy though because it gave her the excuse of being able to ask what kind of feline he was.
"I am Isuke'Boon. I am a lion. What kind of cat are you little one? I have never seen your kind before." She still wasn't sure he was a boy, his name sounded like it could be either a girls name or a boys name. Maybe it was the pink markings that were throwing her off.

"My mum's a-" He pounced again "leopard! And my dad's a cheetah." He said as he pounced again. "I don't think I've met a lion before either. You're really big." He said admiringly then sat his tail down for a little rest. "I really like your colors too. Are you really really really strong? I bet mommy could still take you though even if you are bigger'n her." ah the unwavering faith of a child.

So it seemed the little cub was a mix of felines. That explained why she hadn't been able to place him. Isuke'Boon couldn't help an amused chuckle at his words. It was adorable really that he thought his leopard mother could take her in a fight. Adorable, and a bit naive. Isuke'Boon didn't really feel like bursting his little bubble though. It wasn't like he'd been at all an annoyance.
"Oh I see. Thank you, and yes I suppose I am really really really strong. I think it's best we don't find out who would win if me and your mother got in a fight." She looked at him and his pouncing stance again. "Now you need to make your back legs a little more like this." She showed him how his back legs should be.

Masashi situated his back legs like hers as best he could. It felt rather awkward actually. Trying again he totally overshot his target. "Woah! Did you see how far I went?!" He practically preened with pleasure.
"And yeah I wouldn't want you to fight Mommy, I don't think she'd like to get her coat dirty, and she's more of a princess then a fighter anyway. And princesses shouldn't have to fight. I bet my dad would fight you though... I don't think I'd want you to fight him either though." He got into pouncing position again to continue practicing.

Isuke'Boon made an approving noise as she saw the little cub fly through the air much farther then he had before. "Yes I saw, you went much farther that time. You're getting better already." She wondered if when she had cubs teaching them would be as pleasing. The thought of teaching her own children how to pounce and fight and be good strong warriors did please her she found.
"Yes, princesses shouldn't have to fight, unless they want to. Gods forbid they get their coat dirty." There was a light teasing tone in the lionesses voice, but she wasn't intending to sound mean or like she was making fun of him. "Maybe I wouldn't. Cheetahs are much faster then lions you know. That can make fighting them difficult. If you are fast like a cheetah, you should use that to your advantage in a fight."

"Well my daddy's the fastest cheetah there ever was! He's an amazing hunter! Not even Mommy's as good as he is. She says he's going to teach me! But he hasn't had time yet." He pounced a few more times before flushing out another grasshopper. With his new pouncing skills he caught it easily with a happy laugh!
"Thanks lady! Mom and Dad are going to bust with pride when I show 'em!" He went over to rub against her legs in thanks. He wondered if all lions were as nice as this one.

Isuke'Boon felt a small feeling of pride as the cub caught the grasshopper. She had helped him figure out how to catch it after all. He was really very cute, feeling so happy over catching the hopping insect.
"I'm sure they will be very proud. You should pounce on him with your new pouncing skills until he agrees to teach you how to hunt. Speaking of your parents though. Might they not be worried if they find you gone? You should head home little one." She knew only too well what a dangerous world the rogue lands could be. She found herself thinking that it would be best to have cubs in a pride. That way there would be many eyes and ears to keep a watch on the young ones. As a result the cubs could actually have more freedom.

"Yeah you're probably right, lady." He said. "Thanks for teaching me! And I will pounce on them! My siblings are going to be super jealous!" He grinned at her and fluffed off back towards the den.
