Rosie knew what it felt like to feel great sadness; this wasn’t the first time in her life she had cried herself to sleep while a quiet blue Vaporeon curled in her arms to try and comfort her. But this was the first time in Rosie’s life that she actually felt fear.
Spring had finally arrived, slowly relieving the cold winter weather of its duties, and preparing the world for a fantastic show of blooming flowers of all colors, and choirs of all different singing bird pokemon. The sun was brighter, the skies clear, and the air had warmed enough for people to start wearing move open clothing, like shorts and dresses.
Normally Rosie would be taking full advantage of a day like this, Running around with her pokemon and having a wonderful time doing it! But this day, the usually energetic girl, was not giving the impression that she was going to be doing any running around.
In her new pink speckled dress, leaving her training clothes back at the hotel that her family was staying at while their home was being repaired from massive burn damage, a set of balls laced at her side from a ribbon that was tied at a bow in the back of her hips. A Luxury ball, being the darkest of the set, sitting ahead of a team of two love ball, and two heal ball.
The young women had kept herself barricaded away in the room for a few days after she had had another run in with a member from Team Rocket, mourning the loss of her Togepi to the forceful women… the memory of what that horrible dark ball had turned her little angel into. It took both her cousins, and Uncle to convince her to go for a walk, get out a little and enjoy the spring day.
It was with great reluctance that she had taken their advice, and when they went to school and work, she had gotten dressed in her new spotted dress and pink flats and made her way to the strip malls located by the docks.

The warmth of the spring day, the blueness of the clear sky, and promise of birdsong and blossoms could do similarly little to lift another's mood, though for far less grave reasons. Luke stretched his arms before tucking his hands into his pockets and proceeding forward. There were people... everywhere. He hadn't known there could be so many people in the world, let alone in a single city, let alone in a single area. The ferry had been crowded enough, but this was just ridiculous.
What would have been incredible wonder at the size of the masses, however, was converted into complete irritation by a gnawing hunger. The fare on the boat had been completely unpalatable, and he wasn't having much luck in the city either, despite the numerous accounts of what appeared to shops stocked with all manner of food. Finally the hunger had gotten to him, and Luke had decided to go with the first edible thing he found - an ice cream stand, as it happened. He stopped a ways off, separate enough from the crowd not to get shoved accidentally (because they obviously weren't familiar with common courtesy, jeez!) but far enough from the shopfront that he could survey it subtly.
The redheaded boy thusly initiated a staring contest with the unsuspecting desserts, fixing a scrutinizing glare on the tubs and their contents as well as on the stack of cones beside them. A pocketed thumb rubbed against the edge of an equally pocketed coin. He wasn't familiar with purchasing his own food. Not that he'd never done it, of course. Not that he didn't know how, of course. Not that he felt like he'd mess up, of course. Not that he was afraid of making a fool of himself, of course. Doubts piled on doubts and questions on questions, and finally, after a full five minutes of fidgeting in silence, Luke uttered a frustrated growl and turned abruptly, moving away from the stand.
He wasn't that hungry anyway.

Rosie had decided, that maybe an ice cream cone would help cheer her up! In that past it usually did, and it wouldn't hurt to get one now. She might have been putting a little to much faith in that hope, becasue even after she bought her favorite flavor, with her favorite cone, and went to go sit down on a near by bench to watch the fountain and the market... she couldn't bring herself to eat it.
Losing interest in the sweet cold treat the moment she had set herself down to enjoy it. The young trainer sat, with her head down, staring at the pink ice cream as it slowly started to melt, and drip onto the pavement below her feet. "What I waist" she was telling herself, but she just couldn't seem to bring herself to even try some, afraid that her stomach might become upset, and it would be wasted anyway.
Her free hand lifted up to rub at her eyes. Today was turning out to be another bad day, and she was so looking forward to feeling better.

Luke had seated himself on a bench opposite the one Rosie took soon after, the girl arriving with an ice cream cone that she... didn't even eat? What, was she just going to stare at it? Was she taunting him? Arceus, how spiteful could someone be! ...Ugh, he really was hungry.
The more taunting and spiteful he wanted her to appear, though, the less she seemed it. Actually, she almost seemed kind of tired, or even sad... Wait, no, what did he care? He didn't. Of course he didn't.
Come to think of it, didn't he have a Flareon that always had too much energy? Maybe Mieu could do something about her apparent mood or... No, he didn't care. He'd just let the stupid thing out of its pokeball and it could do whatever it wanted. If it chose to go say hi to some sad-looking girl with melting ice cream, then that was none of his business.
On that thought, he turned so that he was no longer facing the pink-clad stranger and casually tapped the release on the luxury ball at his belt, the resulting flash placing a teal and white Flareon at his side with an enthusiastic "faaa!"
Luke gestured the thing away with a wave of his hand and a vague command, "Go do something." The eeveelution tilted its head slightly and turned a brief circle to take in their surroundings. His trainer had explained that they would be in a new place, but wow, this really was new and different and oh, who was that over there? Taking note of Rosie, the Flareon closed the distance with a few short bounds and gazed up at her with blue eyes, a bright smile, and an energetic greeting.

Rosie's vision of dull gray was suddenly obscured by a pare of BIG blue eyes and white face, a large fluffy tuft of hair sitting right over the adorable little teal markings around a fluffy head.
The very abrupt appearance of a friendly pokemon, smiling at her and cooing in greeting took Rosie by surprise, her eyes blue eyes widening, lips parting and face flushing with an overload of sheer adorableness that was standing right in front of her A Flareon! And a Cuuuuuuute Falreon!
"Oh!" She exclaimed in surprise, blinking a couple of times, before she returned a small, friendly smile to the Flareon, reaching a hand down to it. "Well, hello cutie, where did you come from?" she asked, before lifting a head up to glance around, looking for someone who might be looking for their lost Flareon.
She sure hoped it wasn't lost, poor thing. Standing up off the bench and shifting away so she could tuck her dress under, allowing her to kneel down by the fluffy blue pokemon, gently running her hand down his head. "Your not lost are you?"

He couldn't help the quiet huff of triumph when he noted the girl's reaction out of the corner of his eye. Not that he cared if she was feeling better or anything.
Mieu's fluff of a tail waved back and forth excitedly when he was addressed, dancing around briefly before nuzzling into her hand. Attention was always loved, especially in the form of pettings! He gave a small hop when she crouched, placing his small paws on Rosie's knees and lifting his nose near her own, uttering a small "fieu!" in his excitement.
One of the girl's words in particular caught Luke's attention, and he blurted a response, "He's not lost." His gaze remained steadfastly turned from Rosie. It wasn't his fault the stupid thing was so friendly. Not like he sent it over to her or anything. Jeez.

"Awww~" Rosie blushed when the Flareon lifted his nose by her. Holding the ice cream away from them so she wouldn't have it drip on his beautiful fur. Rosie loved Falreon's they were just so cute, and so soft and fluffy, and she loved the colors on this one, he must have come from such beautiful breeding lines.
This certainly seemed to cheer her up a bit, her free hand petting his fluffy mane. She was worried that he might be lost, but that was resolved right away when she heard a male's voice speak.
Turning her head to look at the man that was sitting at a bench close by, she blinked a couple of times, He didn't seem so interested, for a moment she wasn't sure that he had spoken, but she had heard it coming from there, it had to be him. "So this is your Flareon?" she sounded relived, hugging the fire type. "I'm glad" she added in a softer tone "He's really cute. and friendly."
She had never seen this young man before... he looked around the same age she did, She had never seen style of clothes like his before. His coat was rather interesting, but she liked it, Unique.

"Well... Yeah. He's mine." He instinctively turned towards the girl, though only slightly. Wait, he'd been planning on denying all connections to the stupid thing. Damn. Too late for that now. There was still time to cover himself, though. "He may act that way, but he's a real pain in the a** too." Like it or not, though, Mieu was the only familiar company he had in... wherever he was. He hadn't been paying very close attention when he boarded that ferry. Probably a bad choice retrospectively, but damned if he was going to admit that.
The Flareon turned towards his trainer with a coo of disappointment at his phrasing. Oh well. Better not to dwell on it! He returned his attention to Rosie instead with a contented sound as he was wrapped in the girl's hug.
Luke didn't pay the pair much mind. It was good that she was feeling better or whatever, but he had more important things to think about. Like food. Or where he was, or where he would stay for the night. Or food. "So do you live around here or something?" He consciously turned away as he spoke, feigning complete disinterest. Subtlety, nonchalance. He wasn't in a tight spot, he was just curious.

He seemed like a really disinterested guy, and the thing he said about his Flareon took her by surprise, this was clear on her face anyway. But with a look to the Flareon who seemed to react for only a second before brushing it off, Rosie just assumed that was the kind of relationship the two had.
She smiled gently, hugging the lovable Flareon, feeling very comfortable with her head against the big tuft of Fur around his neck. "I don't think he's a pain at all, I think more pokemon should be just like him." She said it more for the Flareon's benefit, complementing the beautiful creature in her arms.
She looked back over at the boy when he asked her another question, pulling back from the Flareon enough, though she was still petting him gently. "I do" she answered, with a curious tilt of her head, finding it a little funny that whenever he spoke to her he would look away. "I grew up here... are you new to the city?"

He gave a brief hum in consideration of her words. Being overly friendly was preferable to being belligerent and blood-thirsty, he supposed. He couldn't even imagine Mieu with such adjectives applied to him, especially not when he was cuddling with a girl dressed in pink. "I guess it's all right," he ceded. "I was hoping he'd grow out of it, but... Whatever." Maybe the Flareon would grow out of it yet.
He stretched slightly and folded his arms behind his head. Arceus, he was so hungry! "Yeah, I just got here today. Is it always so damn crowded?" There were just too many people, and none of them were helping him get food nor were they helping him find a place to stay the night. Thus, they were a monumental waste of space.

She wondered why he felt that way, wanting his Flareon to change... he was perfect the way he was. She didn't know him at all though, having barely just spoken.
Being careful with the melting ice cream, Rosie carefully pushed herself back to her feet, leaning over a little as she looked down at the fire Pokemon, before she straightened up, brushing her dress out and looking over at the boy on the bench. "Well, let me be the first one to welcome you to The Kodo region, my home Camphoreon city." She tilted her head softly, a soft smile feathering the corners of her lips. "Its pretty busy here, but this is the most busy city on the Island" she pointed out politely.
This was easily the busiest place on the island, and it hadn't been the first time people have come from Johto and Kanto and not known their way around.
Thanks to the Flareon, Rosie was actually not feeling like she was about to burst into tears any second. And despite the fact that this boy seemed extremely disinterested in everything, she trusted the fact that good people owned good Pokemon... at least... that was right... right? Most people were still good... she wanted to believe that, she had to...
Maybe... she could use some company while she was out today, extending an offer seemed like it would be okay at least. "Since your new, I can show you and your Flareon around if you like. My name is Rosie, Rosie Ewell~" she introduced herself, giving a curtsy to the Flareon, and his trainer.

Kodo and Camphoreon... They were both completely unfamiliar words. Putting names to the strange places somehow made them so much more intimidating. He had stranded himself in a land that he was only just knowing the name of, and he was hungry. It was probably better to focus on the less terrifying of the two matters. Or maybe focus on that girl and Mieu - there wasn't anything particularly unpleasant about them, right? Sure.
"Thanks," he said offhandedly, averting his gaze once more with a slight narrowing of his eyes. For introductions, however, he turned his full attention to her, "Name's Luke," he said, a proud grin spreading on his features. "Luke fon Fabre." He failed to take into account that the chances she would recognize an obscure last name from an even more obscure nation were slim to none, erring on the latter. "Anyway, I guess if you don't have anything better to do..." He folded his arms, continuing to feign complete disinterest.

Lips parted slightly when he actually turned to look at her, this had been unexpected, and caught her off guard, not that she was complaining. She could finally make eye contact with him, properly meet the new man. She smiled gently at him. "Its nice to meet you Luke fon Fabre." What a fantastic name! it sounded like one of those names that royalty had!
So there it was, hi name was Luke, he wasn't from around here, he looked to be around her age, with red hair and green eyes. This was who she was going to spend the afternoon with it looked like, him and his wonderful Flareon. "And whats your name?" she asked, leaning forward, putting her hand over her knee as she addressed the Flareon again. "If you don't mind keeping me company today, I would be more than happy to." she spoke to both the Flareon and Luke.

The pride in his grin diminished somewhat when she didn't respond as expected to his last name, not even after repeating it herself. Well, there was no helping ignorance.
"That's... Mieu." He was much more reluctant to share the Flareon's name than he was to do the same of his own. It was a childish name that he didn't even remember choosing, but it was all the fire-type would answer to. The eeveelution didn't notice his hesitance, though, turning to his new friend with a sound that mimicked his name.
So Rosie, huh? It seemed to suit her, with all the pink. She was nice enough, he supposed. Seemed to like pokemon, but then a lot of people did. He could appreciate her offer, though, even if he didn't understand just how useful such a tour would be. Maybe they'd even find someplace to eat...
"Well, all right. I've got nothing better to do." He leaned forward on the bench, stretched, and stood. Totally nonchalant.

Smiling brightly when the Flareon seemed to mimicked even his nickname! That was amazing! “Mieuuu~” Rosie cooed back to the pokemon playfully. “It’s a pleasure to meet you to Mr. Mieu”
Brushing strand of inward curling blond hair out of her eyes, she turned herself back over to Luke as he stretched, and finally stood. He was a little taller than she was, it seemed by in inch, and this didn’t include his hair, that seemed to be very styled. It looked cool. “We’re in the dock aria right now; this is where most of the boats come bringing visitors. It’s a very touristy aria.”
Her eyes moved when she felt something drip onto her hand, wincing a little when she realized she still had the ice cream in her hand. “… It’s a little melted, but do you want it?” she offered a little sheepishly. “I promise I didn’t eat any of it yet. And I don’t think I can eat it…” Otherwise she would probably give it to Mieu, or throw it away… she really didn’t want to throw it away.
