Combat Test: Ryoko vs Kotaru
This is a test of skills and survival to prove that there can be shinigamis who don't over rely on their zanpakuto's abilities or there own special ability. If a fighter uses their zanpakuto or natural ability in this fight it is an automatic failure of the test. The goal is to fight Ryoko for a certain amount of time without the use of said abilites. Ryoko will not use his abilities from either zanpakuto nor his own.
Location: Artic Tundra Battle ground setting
Rules of the test:
1. No use of shikai or Bankai
2. No shunko or kido (Shunpo Senka Utsusemi are ok)
3. No use of reiatsu outside of the three hoho above
4. Break any of these rules and you fail.
5. No air walking
6. Try to stay alive smile .

I'll fight ya, tho my char isn't a Shinigami (meaning his hiero or what ever it's called would make the fight fairly off balanced, then again his was never very strong to begin with, just barely enough to brush off a sword blow, anything past the basic sealed state would be more then enough to break his)

(Well as much as I like another round with you this test is more of an exclusive one for shinigami characters well for one thing the espadas have the hierros and cero but less of a zanpakuto abilites like a shikai I have been noticing alot of shinigami characters in the guild rely alot on their zanpakuto's so I thought it would be best to test them at something they aren't used to so that when they fight the espada they would have abit more of an experience in the skill range. INothing against the espada just want to see shinigami fight with skillful combat.)

(Well, I might as well try smile I've taken on Shinigami's and Espadas without a Shikai or Bankai before..in another guild.. lol so I give it a try here to see what I've got.)

but imagining it makes it so...You already lost....  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a tall icy glacier in the middle of the frozen land, Ryoko was sitting on the top of it waiting for the one that wanted to take this test to arrive. This area he was in had a reiatsu supressor so if any tester used their shikai or bankai they wouldn't be able too even if they wanted. Same with kidos and shunko it was a test that most shinigamis were expected to fail but he wanted to see how many were able to actually pass the first round without the use of it. Skill and Survival were the key to this battle using the landscape and the their own learned techniques of martial arts and hand to hand combat were all that needed to be proven as a true shinigami. His hair blew in the wind he had more restraints on him for his reiatsu which made the fight more evenly matched since he is a high ranking captain and war legend.

A boy from Squad 2 which appear to be Third Seat had a mask placed on his face. "Oi! How's it going?!" He greeted at Ryoko as his white hair blew slightly from outside the mask. "Oh forget the mask..it's just an thing added with my Zanpakuto naturally that I put on at times...so nothing special about it." He said as he placed it out of his hand and threw it away. Though his eyes were hidden by his white hair. "Oi...you're that Squad 7 Captain...Ryoko Minamimoto.." He said to him.

Ryoko said as he began to draw his blade he noticed the mask that covered Kotaru's face but could recognize him because of the presence was the same one back in hueco mundo. "I already know who you are so why hide behind a mask Kotaru? Which mask you carry the one that hides your face or the one that is your face?" Ryoko said as he began to jump and slide down the white slope of the glacier hill with the snow skinned next to him. "You know why you are here. So don't dissapoint me." Ryoko said as he continued down the slope at Kotaru. Ryoko has a large experience with formal combat that didn't involve using his abilties which makes it the perfect opponent for Kotaru. It was also appropriate for Ryoko get a reputation for this with other shinigamis as he was the one that created this difficult test for his students. While getting closer to Kotaru he held his blade across to his left and what appeared to be an attempt for a slash but Ryoko had more of plan than just a direct approach which is why he wanted his students that take this test to get that they need to outsmart their opponents not be stronger than them.

Kotaru took a slight grin by Ryoko's little response back at him. He soon started to laugh. "Both Really.." He joked as he only pulled out one of his zanpakuto from the sheath behind his back. He had it in his left hand as he couldn't really show his reiatsu often at this time, but could feel the heat of his blade still hot as always when out in his grip. Soon a sound like a fire went out as his sword cooled down instantly like a fire went out. "What the?" He looked confused as he saw Ryoko coming near him. "Oh Crap..." He said as sheathed his sword back. "Eh...my sword skills are mid-range..I need short.." He said to himself under his breath as he balled his fist up as he went into a martial arts like position of hand-to-hand combat. "Luckily...My Squad ranks allows me to practis on my Hakuda! Aiyah!!" He said as he was ready as he slowly took steps back still in his correct position.

but imagining it makes it so...You already lost.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryoko what appeared to be an attempt to slash at Kotaru was actually he faked out. with his body immediatly crouched down and in less than a second he came at him with a kick aimed for Kotaru's midrange. Ryoko already had a look of dissapointment for Kotaru for the fact that he tried using his zanpakuto abilities which was a sign of failure for this one but Ryoko wanted to humor him a bit further. After he deliver his Ryoko would force his foot that was ment for the kick down back at the ground and come at Kotaru with a forced strike with the hand that was holding his zanpakuto which also happened to move at a kick motion aswell and come at him again. "Like the instructions said for this test, zanpakuto abilities, kidos, shunko and air walking won't be useful here... This is a test on how long you can actually last in a battle without those." Ryoko said with a deep tone in his voice. Once this plan followed through he would sheath his zanpakuto and fight with his hands from that point on.

Kotaru was about to attack at the moment when it was right, but tripped on the ground instead slightly embarrassed. So he did a Ukemi easily and returned right back on his feet. "Phew..Nice..First of all..that not my Zanpakuto's abilities..they're naturally hot always..when nearby they are or I'm still alive.." He said to him. "So really.. most of my moves are just high speed and hand-to-hand....." He said as he thought of a plan. "Here I go!" He said as he easily disappear quickly at high speed as he came behind Ryoko. "You didn't say Shunpo wasn't allow though.." He said as he was doing backflips away from Ryoko in case he tries something slick. "Now watch this...if you come near.." He said to him, but the wind-chills was messing with him slightly as he sneezed a little.

Ryoko said as he dissapeared in shunpo and once Kotaruo was performing his backflips right in the middle of one Ryoko used Senka a special shunpo that was primarly targeting the backside of an opponent at a faster speed that even a spectator can't catch. With his hands ready for a multiple attack he lunged at Kotaru using shunpo and once he would pass him up Ryoko had his chance to attempt three fisted strikes at the torso, face, and the neck at a high speed that happened in seconds. Ryoko knew fighting in ares like these ment for his students taking this test need to use the land either as an advatage or a weakness. So far he noticed that this area was Kotaru's weakness and explains that he isn't used for cold conditions nor has experience it this much. Once Ryoko's plan followed through he would jump in the air and land a few feet away from Kotaru as a chance to wait for his next move. Ryoko always like to expect what his opponents showed him as a way of predicting their next move in their fighting style. He knows that each shinigami has a unique fighting style that if used properly can be useful in their case but Ryoko can read a shinigami's fighting style once he experience it for the first few attempts against him.

Kotaru grinned a little doing a back flip as he landed on his feet. Not noticing at that second Ryoko used a Senka. ~What? He's fast..but I'm faster..~ He thought as he soon sensed Ryoko but couldn't react much at the time. He soon felted three strikes ad both his torso face and neck as he gave a slight choking sound as he fallen on his back but coon gotten up slightly. "Well..you're talking to a disciple of one.." He said still giving a little smile as he got back on his position. He had a feeling like this before when he was younger fighting against an Arrancar and a Shinigami Lieutenant. He had a feeling of knowing what to do probably at this and soon a plan came up in his head. He stood in place for the right moment and dashed up at Ryoko using Shunpo. But soon as he was 2 feet near him, He took grip of his own cloak /w hood as he threw up in the air covering his appearance behind it but once it lowered into the ground, he disappeared instantly as he was only one place to be...In the air. "But remember..by being in 2nd Division of third seat....I an an exact premier master of..Hakuda.." He said as he came down as a slight booming sound came from him but was still in place. As he came down like a fast falling rock, he balled his fist up tightly as he was preparing for something. When the Kotaru in the air landed right in front of Ryoko not punching him in his cranium, it soon stood in place but soon disappeared as an afterimage for somebody else was behind him. "IKKOTSU!! (一骨, "Single Bone")" He said as he punched the ground as he made a powerful blow to the ground by charging up his strength in one blow, by doing this it would make the ground crumble up big and tightly and soon forming into a crater if Ryoko isn't too close to the debris in it as it starts forming.

Ryoko thought as he simple stood there and the cloak fly over him. He then looked up as Kotaru came down at him but Ryoko just slightly just moved his body over but felt no presence. He knew it was nothing but an afterimage as the real. After hearing a single word from his backside Ryoko immediatly dissapeared in shunpo as Kotaru was behind him and punched the ground creating a crater. "Maybe you should learn not to scream out your physical attacks before doing them." Ryoko said with his body appearing behind Kotaru facing the opposite direction. He had his blade held over Kotaru's shoulder with the sharp edge of it aimed at his neck. Ryoko already had a plan in motion that all it needed was for Kotaru to take the bait and actually attack him. Ryoko really could care less about what position he was in because it was all about fighting experience when it comes to acknowledging those he fight and apparently he was always dissapointed with those who have fought and only a handful were considered to him worthy. It was quiet as wind blew in the crater with the broken into cracks if Kotaru were to add more force to that attack he would of had been soaked by the water under the ice. Even now they were both currently on thin ice thanks to him which was a pretty bad move on Kotaru's point of view but Ryoko knew he could take this as an opportunity,

Kotaru was going to attack to more to flinch Ryoko, but soon noticed he had a blade at his neck as he closed his eyes of wondering what to do. He need to remember of how he defeated the people in his past life, all the challenges, all the lessons he had learned. He had to focus this time...for there was no more goofing off. He soon tried to think of something as he came with a smile. "The wind of Mt. Fuji, I've brought on my fan! a gift from Edo.." He said to him. "The first cold shower, even the monkey seems to want, a little coat of straw... " He continued in a poetic way. "How many gallons, of Edo's rain did you drink? cuckoo.." He said as he disappeared instantly using a shunpo. "old pond . . ." He said flipping over him with grace and agility as he felt light in his mind. "A frog leaps in..." He said running across the tundra without the cold not bothering him as he took a calm deep breath. "water’s sound.." He finished as he felt like a feather in the wind blow swiftly and gracefully like a swan's feathers. He soon did a Senka as he was behind Ryoko backside targeting it as a faster speed than the watcher overseeing things. He soon quickly countered with a Utsusemi leaving an afterimage behind as he was either in front of Ryoko or behind. Which one will it be? "lend me your arms, fast as thunderbolts, for a pillow on my journey..." The both said as the two pulled out their swords as the one behind pointed it at Ryoko's back, but the other one had it's guard ready.

but imagining it makes it so...You already lost.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ryoko looked at the two Kotaru's that poitned their blades at him but sadly they understimated him extremely. Suddenly two other Ryoko's appeared over head both attempting an over head strike at the two Kotaru's but the only thing that was odd was the three Ryoko's near Kotaru were only mere afterimages that Ryoko has mastered using Utsusemi. They were ment basically as a distraction while the real Ryoko appeared a few feet with his zanpakuto pointing down towards the ground and immediatly stabbed inside the crater causing the thin ice to crack under Kotaru and the other afterimage. With that happeing the ice began to shatter which would cause Kotaru to fall right into the icy abyss of water and with little time to react aswell since Ryoko's plan only he too him less than a minute. Once the ice began to break Ryoko quickly shunpoed outside the crater only to land near the edged as he sheathed his zanpakuto with his arms folded. Ryoko was the last person to try and use a technique like Utsusemi that he has completely mastered even with him having all these restraints in the area and on him. But again Ryoko was holding back alot and focused more on Kotaru's survival strategies rather than beating him.
