Painite was in a very good mood. She hadn't been out on patrol with her new title and look yet, and couldn't wait to see what people thought of her new weapon. Of her new skills. And not to mention everything she had learned so far, molding together to form a new motivation, a new tactic, a new thought.
A new Painite, in its way.
But still very much the same.
She was currently laying the last framework of a new rig she had been working on. She adapted the idea of a firing trap, like she had used against Scheelite during her hunt of him, which she considered invaluable training, and added another idea she had gotten from him to it. Electricity. If she got the voltage right, who knew what she could do to a senshi? Incapacitate them? Kill them straight off? She didn't think the battery she was using was quite that powerful, but it would certainly hurt.
She had wires loaded into a firing device. When the trigger wire was pulled, the device would fire and the weighted wire would fly toward the target. Essentially, it was three wires braided together, though each distinct wire was left unbraided so it could wrap around a target. The ends were waited with balls, which would be what the gun fired. They would also aid in wrapping the target up. The braid was as long as she could make it, hooked to the battery. Once wrapped, the target would be shocked.
And Painite would enjoy the show. If it all worked, of course.
Now the bait. She had found a civilian walking down the street and jumped him, wrenching his arm back and making him scream. As far as her research told her, that senshi with the two colored eyes would be somewhere nearby by now.

Ever since her training outing with Taranis, Denebola had kept to a very specific patrol route that allowed her to spend much of it alone but was well known enough that other senshi happened to frequent it as well, like her partner. However, today she was out alone, a habit she had taken up once the chaotic events of Elysion had passed and allowed her to recover during the night as usual.
She kept to the shadows and occasionally would walk along the rooftops to avoid being seen by the public as she scouted the area keeping an eye out for youma and negaverse officers alike. Her attention was caught by the screams of a civilian and the senshi of dragonflies took off running towards the sound.
A little warning bell went off in the back of her mind even as she raced over. It was hard to ignore the dark energy pulse coming from the area that she approached but she pushed it aside her concern and continued forward. The redhead was aware that in doing so she upped her risk factor but as far as she was concerned, there was a civilian to rescue and that should, and was, her first concern.
She arrived on scene, panting slightly, with her hands folded in to fists and her dual colored eyes narrowed. Before she even had the chance to utter some witty phrase about saving the day or anything like that as Painite fired the gun at her.
The senshi was only given a split second to react before she would be caught in the tangles of the newly turned captain's trap. She attempted to dive out of the way as the balls caught and wrapped around lower body, her only salvation that her upper body, including her arms, were free. That was until the weapon trap shocked her. At first she let out a squeak as the shock worked it's way up her body, starting in her legs and moving up her torso and fingertips as they clawed at the wires in an attempt to break free. The pain of the shock increase to the point she let out a scream, one that possibly was louder than that of the civilian she had sought to rescue.
The pain wasn't enough to kill her, especially not while she was in her powered form, but it definitely was enough to make it hurt like hell.

All Painite had to do was wait. Now was the time she usually considered things she hadn't planned for at first. Most of the time, while setting up traps, she focused on the then and there: what needed to be prepared for the trap to work, and what she would do just following it being sprung.
She didn't think about escape plans before she was sure she wouldn't need them. Once she covered every detail she could possibly think of, then she switched gears to try and come up with the things that would keep her safe. The just in case scenarios, to get herself away from the scene.
She could never prepare for it all, but she was discovering more and more that she needed to think beyond just the plan. She had to consider more than what she knew and what she had experienced before. While at the same time, not forgetting any important lessons that she would regret repeating. It was, really, a lot of mental work for one who, when not powered up, spent most of her time melting her brain with movies and 8-bit gaming.
Holding tightly to the civilian, she waited for the senshi, looking around the area, considering what she could jump on, grab, climb, use in case things went bad. She couldn't space out too much, though, as if the senshi arrived she needed to be on her guard. Her energy was already high, her adrenaline pumping, her senses all but tingling in anticipation. It was always hardest to concentrate when she most needed to. The moment before finding out if all her work would pay off.
The gun fired and Painite grinned, shoving the now sufficiently drained and not screaming man down to the floor. She was careful with the orb, storing it, then gripped her weapon as she moved over to the senshi. Not too close: if she touched a wire while it was live she'd get a shock herself. She grinned at the scream. It told her everything had worked perfectly.
"What's the matter, Senshi?" she gloated triumphantly. "All tied up? Or are you just shocked to see me?"

Her whole body was tingling as the shock started to dull before coming to a stop. She wasn't impressed by the nega's puns because they weren't funny nor did she really hear them due to the buzzing in her ears. She had fallen back on the ground, withering hopelessly as the electricity had coursed through her veins, her gloved fingertips clawing at the ground as she attempted to push herself up off the ground despite her bound legs.
Her arms trembled weakly before she collapsed to the ground again. She lifted her head to glare, a sneer on her face as she spoke, "How p-punny of you." She could feel the tingling in begin to die down though her muscles still screamed in agony whenever she moved them. "Not confident in y-yours-self to do the dirty work that you have to rely on traps to do it for you?" She mocked her even though she knew she shouldn't, she was in no position to.
She placed her palms against the ground and managed to push herself up on to her knees having to stop there instead of continuing to try and remove the bonds around her legs. She shifted her legs out from under her, hands spread behind her to support her and glared up at her opponent. Perhaps she was plotting something or perhaps she was too weak to even try and attack yet it wasn't clear. Or maybe she was waiting.
"You're pathetic."

Painite laughed loudly at the senshi, watching every moment of her senses restoring themselves. It was interesting, the change from dumb shock and pain, to realization and pain, to anger and pain. She grinned broadly, hand wrapped around her staff with a leisurely air about her.
She was anything but comfortable, however. Even with the senshi caught in her web, the spider knew better than to underestimate her. Or at least, she told herself she knew better.
That didn't stop the gloating.
"You've got it all wrong, my dear little thing," she said, almost in a sing song voice. She was elated, and having a lot of fun. She might even draw on a character to play, like she might in her 'real' (or fake, depending on how one looked at it) life. The stage, however, was far away from this place. She didn't need to act, she told herself, because she was doing a pretty good job already.
"You're just upset because you fell into one of my traps, aren't you? You're shifting the blame so I look like the weakling, for using them, and not you, for walking right into it. But that doesn't change the fact that you did, in fact, walk right into it. So you might call me any names you'd like, but you're mostly talking about yourself."
She moved over to the trapped senshi, looking over the wires. Poking the pointed end of her staff on one of the senshi's hands, she grinned. "What's the rush? You don't have to get up just yet," she said. She wasn't pressing hard enough to break the skin, but it was certainly a warning. She liked looming over her opponent like this.
She lashed out then, bringing her knee forward in an effort to smash it into Denebola's face.

Her fingers tingled as if they had fallen asleep, it was no longer painful for the senshi of dragonflies, only uncomfortable. However uncomfortable, Denebola was thankful that it was only reduced to that and she no longer felt painful shocks wracking through her body. "I'm not shifting the blame," she snapped as Painite poked at her hand with her staff. She knocked it away easily, this time since the captain wasn't attacking yet. Her other hand grappled with the wires, as discreetly as she could, slowly loosening them from her legs.
Just a bit more and she'd be able to free herself.
That was until the older woman brought up her knee towards the redhead's face. She threw herself backward in an attempt to avoid the blow but her reaction was too slow. Painite's knee connected with her chin slamming her jaw shut and forcing her on to her back, hard. She grunted in pain, her eyes having snapped shut from the force of the blow. She opened her eyes, aware of her throbbing jaw idly wondering if it had been dislocated or if a tooth had been cracked even as she raised her legs and kicked out, wires falling loosely down her legs.
Her head pounded even as she attacked and the girl knew she wouldn't be getting up soon.

Painite watched her, pulling the staff back when the senshi made to push it. She smirked, arching an eyebrow slightly as she took in the sight of the senshi on the floor, victim to one of her devilish traps. It was a sight she could very easily get used to, and that was compelling enough.
She didn't want to get used to it. She wanted to thrive on it, to make each scene she burned into her mind better and better. This was only the first step.
"You're not? Oh, well, my mistake, because it really rather sounded like you were. I am deeply sorry."
Everything was so casual until she attacked. Then she was more focused, or maybe she just seemed more so, when she had been all along. She was simply no longer smiling jovially, no longer looking at her like she was a mouse in a trap. Now, she was a battle target. A punching bag.
She let out a triumphant 'ha' when her knee collided with the senshi's jaw.
"Oh, little senshi, you're in trouble!" She hooted, moving to swing her foot again, following the senshi as she kicked her legs. She made to kick her in the gut anyway, though she pulled her staff forward again and lifted it up, as if to run her through. She made to slam it down as if driving a flag into the ground.

Denebola wanted so badly to retort but she knew that it would do her no good. She had been trying to shift the blame to prevent herself from looking too bad but it had failed. The negaverser had seen though her petty lie. It only became worse as she was kicked in the stomach letting out a low groan of pain. She clutched her abdomen, opening her eyes in time to roll out of the way of the spear about to impale her.
It had taken nearly all of the strength the senshi had left just to avoid what could've been a fatal blow. She struggled, pushing herself onto her knees with an arm cradling her stomach, her other hand gingerly cradling her face. Her instincts told her to flee, even as she rocked back onto her heels and forced herself to stand.
She stood weakly, her legs trembling from the effort of holding herself up as she glared, her dual colored eyes shining brightly with an inner fire that prevented her from backing down. "At least I don't need traps to do most of my work for me," she hissed pulling the rest of the wires from her legs and launching them at Painite. It probably wouldn't do anything but maybe it would provide enough of a distraction to allow her to catch her breath or even escape.
She hated always having to run.

Painite wished she hadn't put so much gusto into the attack as the weapon slammed into the ground and dug itself its own little pilot hole. It stuck fast, as if the ground was on the senshi's side. Everything was always on the senshi's side.
She was in the middle of trying to pull it free when she heard the senshi's taunt. She hadn't thought the battered little thing would be on her feet so soon, and she frowned at the realization that her prey was going to get away.
"Hey, I did much of the work myself, Ill have you know?" She huffed, finally opting to banish her javelin and summon it back to her hand instead of staying there fighting with it until it deigned to free itself from the ground.
She managed to get a sharp shock when the wires touched her legs, apparently still live and very enthusiastic about their job in all this. Painite yelled and pulled back. She had been shocked many times while building the whole thing. "Ouch!"
