Sadara hated..hated being wet and since the rainy season had started, she didn't think she'd fully dried out yet! Not that she should be complaining, it meant food was plentiful, and that she was able to hunt without her leg hindering her to much, but heaven above, did it have to be so..so..wet!
Laying her ears back, she glared out at the none stop rain from the decent shelter of the rock out cropping she'd managed to make it to before she was thoroughly soaked. It fit her fairly comfortably, with a nice backing of solid boulders on two of the sides and a veiling of vegetation on the other. It wouldn't fit a full grown male lion, but for slender build, it was actually spacious. Now all she had to do was wait it out...again...
Groaning, the leopardess settled down onto her belly, tail tucked over her belly, head on her paws.

Kanya was wet. She was wet and cold and hungry and very, very pregnant. After the first month She knew something was different, partway through the second month she knew her answer, now it was just the beginning of the third month and Kanya knew her time was almost up. Soon she would be a single mom. A single mom who would never be able to see her own cubs.
With a silent snarl Kanya shook off the melancholy thoughts and feelings that were weighing her down just as surely as the weight of her cubs. Right then she had to find someplace to get warm. Dry would be nice but she had a feeling that would not happen. Pausing the leopardess took a deep breath, the rain made it hard to tell where she was and where she was going but it didn't make it impossible.
Water. Falling, flowing. Not rain, rain but more. Deep in concentration Kanya heard the slightly different sound of water sliding off rock and plants. Somewhere close by there was at least a bush she could hid under or a rock hollow she could shelter in. There had to be. Taking care with her steps she found the bushes that she heard and it sounded as if it was backed by rock so the ground wouldn't be horribly muddy. She found her desired hollow in the bushes not even knowing that just a few feet behind her there was another seeking shelter from the rain. One who had found a much dryer place.

The pale leopardess caught sight of another female nosing around at the first cubby hole she had tried, one she had decided was still too open to the rain, and way to muddy. By the looks of it, she was as wet as Sadara was, and heavily pregnant.
Looking at her shelter, she was pretty sure that two of them could fit, and two bodies would warm them up some. Besides, Sadara knew how miserable she felt, she could only imagine how miserable the other female must be.
Putting as much friendliness as she could into her voice, she called out, " I already tried that one, its really muddy. Come up this way, there is enough room for two if you don't mind having to get a little close." She stuck her white head out of the outcropping so the other leopardess could see her clearly. After all, she was already wet.

Kanya nearly jumped out of her skin when a voice called out disturbingly close by. The rain had dampened her sense of smell and it made sound odd but still she would have thought that she would have sensed another so close.
It took her a moment to understand what the voice had said and another moment for her to get her voice under control. "To be honest I am cold and wet. If you have room for me I will take you up on your kind offer." Kanya's voice shook a bit from her still racing heart and a touch from the cold. She turned to face the voice, female unless she was mistaken, and slowly made her way in the other's direction. It was shear luck that the other female was close enough that Kanya could tell where she was. Kanya had the sneaky suspicion that if the distance between them were much greater the voice would have echoed and bounced to the point where locating the source would have been near impossible.

Sadara stuck her head out again, making sure the other female could see her in the down pour, " Its my pleasure, no one should be out in this weather, least of all someone in your condition."
She scooted over, giving the other female plenty of space to crawl in next to her. They would be a little snug, but not on top of each other, with enough room for them to stretch out on their sides if they wanted to, the only thing was the ceiling was low, so sitting up was a challenge.
" Its not much, but it is dry, and not muddy. Pretty sheltered from the wind, and good cover on three sides. Not a bad den really, even if it wasn't raining. I'm Sadara by the way, and you are?"

Kanya smiled at the females comment. She was right, no one should be out in this weather, it was only a chance of fate that put her here and in her condition. The day started off wet but it turned into a full fledged down pore late in the afternoon, making hunting nearly impossible for the blind leopardess. Hoping to find a place where she could get dry, her last shelter started to leak after a few days of constant rain, and with luck find food but as she found out, that was not to be.
It didn't take Kanya to find the hollow and the owner of the kind voice. After a bit of careful maneuvering the red leopardess was laying comfortably in the hollow next to Sadara, "I'm Kanya by the way. And I really do appreciate this by the way." With two bodies in the small space it was warming up quite nicely much to Kanya's relief.

Sadara smiled over at her, " Oh think nothing of it. I could use the company, and really, this weather is nothing to be out in." She cocked her head to one side, observing the other female for a few breaths.
"Um, I know its not much...but I didn't finish the second hare I caught before this down pour. If you'd like, you can have it. You look like you need some kind of meal. Besides, you're eating for more then yourself."
The pale leopardess turned her body and nosed around slightly to the side of her, pulling out a rather fat savanna hare she'd been saving for breakfast. Sadara had figured if it continued to rain all night, well she wouldn't have to go out in the wet and mud in the morning, but seeing Kanya she decided it wasn't so bad if she had to hunt again later.

Kanya nodded. Sadara had a point. This rain was really a pain to be out in so finding shelter with another was a welcome surprise. "Normally I would have been with my family in our large den by the time the rainy season arrived but being on your own does have some drawbacks." Being alone, living her life the way she wanted was true freedom for the blind leopardess but there were moments when she felt the pangs of homesickness.
When Sadara offered her a savanna hare Kanya was pulled in two different directions. Ever since leaving her home behind she felt proud of the fact that she could care for her self. She was a decent hunter, didn't really have issues with others, and normally found safe shelter. When it came to excepting help from others shelter was about as far as she felt truly comfortable about, food was difficult to get so she disliked taking it from another when they could use it just as bad. But the other leopardess had a point, she was no longer just eating for herself but for her cubs as well and as her empty belly was telling her, it was not something she could easily turn away from.
With a shy smile Kanya thanked Sadara, "I wish I could say 'keep it' but I am afraid that the little ones growing would be a bit angry with me. Thank you very much and in the morning I shall be the one to catch breakfast." She laughed softly and added, "That is if the rain has slowed down from its river out there. I wonder what god thought it would be fun to drown us mortals." Kanya meant the last part to be a joke but her jokes don't always go over right so she remained still to see what Sadara would say both about the joke and her proposition, the rabbit still uneaten between them.

Sadara looked out at the downpour and gave a wary grin, " I am going to go with the God of Rivers." She chuckled and nudged the hare a little closer to the other female, " or Floods. Either one of them."
She waved a paw off, " Lets not worry about tomorrow till tomorrow. Right now, just enjoy the meal and the company, and the dry! I swear I am growing mold on me somewhere." She laughed with good humor.
Truly he life had changed after she'd met Silabh. His simple act of kindness to her and Liahu had impacted her in a time of great need, and the mere request that they do the same for another to repay him for his generosity had been novel to her and her cubhood friend.
Now, moons later, Sadara was still repaying the enigmatic lion, but more for herself than for the debt. True, she seemed to prefer long stretches of solitude, and it was unlikely she would ever join a Pride, or settle with a mate, but these evenings spent in the company of another were pleasant, and often she felt as if she walked away from them with a friend. Hopefully, this would be one such time.

Kanya smiled and laughed, "Floods. God of floods. Rivers would be a bit too tame." With a nod of thanks Kanya hooked the rabbit closer and delicately took a small bite before speaking again. "I just hope that the rain will end soon, I don't think I want my cub's first sight to be rain." If they could even see. This was a thought that had passed through her mind ever since she realized that she was pregnant. She hoped that they would be able to see the world around them.
"Sadara I really do want to thank you for your kindness." She smiled and took another delicate bite of rabbit.

Sadara waved a paw, grinning. " My pleasure truly, now eat up." She settled her head on her paws, content with her world, even if that world was a little extra soggy at the moment.
"Floods...hummm...I wonder what a God of Floods would be like..." She pondered the thought for a few more moments while her eye lids drooped. It had been a long day, and the den was warm with two bodies in it. With visions of rain, water, and the sound of it surrounding her, Sadara drifted off to sleep.
