The lioness stood and scanned the horizon. She was as far as she planned to go today. Just past the pride's borders, Nko was looking for anyone in the area. It had seemed more quiet to her than usual. Her familiar, Jiang, was above doing his job. The advantage to having a bird, was she could send him high up for a further look.
A cry she'd become accustomed to drifted down to her. She glanced up to the speck in the sky. He'd spotted someone? Nko looked around carefully. There was no one in easy sight. She wondered if whoever it was might be hiding.

Today had been a long day, though Hashsha'shin tried not to let it show as he walked towards the horizon in front of him. As he looked ahead he realized that in a sense he was lost. Where he was he had no idea, all he knew was he seemed to have been walking for days. Since his strong paws felt slightly heavy with each step. That was when he looked around, this land didn't look very familiar to his eyes. So he stopped and just took a glance at the land ahead. "Hello?" He called out without any hesitation or worry showing in his tone, "Is anyone out there?"

Nkosazana, guard of the Mwezi'Johari, stood proudly looking for who or what Jiang has spotted. Minutes ticked by and she began to doubt he'd really seen anyone. Stupid bird probably fried his brains up there. I'd better get him down. She took a deep breath and gave a mighty roar; that hopefully, Jiang would hear and return to her. It really was a pain they couldn't talk while he was up there, but had to rely on predetermined signals.
While waiting for her familiar to rejoin her, a voice caught her attention. There was indeed someone out there. She owed Jiang a treat. Confidently she headed in the direction of the voice. Calling out in turn.
"Hey. Over here. Follow the sound of my voice."

Hashsha-shin paused for a moment as he heard a roar. The roar was the first sound he had heard in a long while, and it was relieving to him. For he had been walking for what seemed like ever, and the more he walked the more he saw and heard nothing. The noise helped him to realize, that at least he wasn't alone out here. "I really choose the best ways," he said with a slight low laugh under his breath trying to keep his spirit up. As soon as he was about to continue walking he heard something or someone speak.
He quickly looked around him at the sound of what he thought was a voice. Was he slightly delirious or was someone really out there, he wondered to himself as he listened to whom ever it was speak. Slowly he decided to listen to them and stepped in the direction he had heard the noise coming from.
"Hello there and okay I will try to follow it as best I can, " he said trying not to sound frightening as he waited for the voice to speak again.

Nko started to hum. Giving the unknown animal a constant sound to follow. She noticed a quick shadow dart across the ground and knew Jiang had heard her roar. Her tail flicked to let him know to stay airborne, but close by. The red lioness sat down and kept humming. Her curiosity would be satisfied soon enough.

Hashsha'shin kept on walking, as soon as he heard a humming noise. He began to pick up his speed towards the voice. At this point he just wanted to reach the other person and did not care if they were an enemy or not.
It took him a few minutes before a figure of a lion came in his view. He couldn't quite see them, though he was sure that if he took only a few more steps. He would be so close they might end up nose to nose. "Thank you for the humming," he said aloud as he began to slow his pace.

Nko didn't have to wait long before a large red male came into view. She ceased humming and gave him a good look over. "You're welcome. I'm Nkosazana. Just to let you know your near pride borders. What are you doing out here?"
She wasn't in a hurry to head back. A chat with someone would be a nice change. Nko watched the male.

As Hasha reached the other person, he looked at noticed it wasn't just a lion but a lioness. He looked her over quickly and thought quietly in his mind, "Wow didn't I get lucky." He couldn't believe that he was actually fortunate to find help but such pretty help at that. He shook his head from staring and replied, "Its wonderful to meet you Nkosazana, I am Hashsha'shin. An I am? Wow I have definitely gone father than I thought I did. which pride am I close to?" After that last question he stopped talking for a minute and began to think where did he go wrong.
"To be honest I believe I took a wrong turn somewhere," he took a seat and continued, "I think I was so tired I just stopped watching where I was going. Though might I ask what a pretty lioness like you is doing out here?"

"Hashsha'shin. Nice to meet you." She grinned at the friendly lion. "You are. We are the Mwezi'Johari. The Great Lion watches over us; the moon is his eye." She loved her pride.
She laughed when he said he'd taken a wrong turn. "I'm sorry just a second. I have a familiar watching and I should get him down." Nko gave a quick roar, then turned back to Hashsha. "You should have rested when you got tired. Worst things can happen than getting lost."
Nko gave a giggle and turned her head slightly to the side at his flattery. "I'm a guard in my pride. It's my job to be out here. Guarding the boarders and rescuing wayward travelers." She looked at him teasingly. "If you promise to behave, I think you could come and rest at the pride."

Hasha couldn't help but grin as he listened to this lioness talk. "Oh I see, I have never heard of that pride before now. Though it sounds very interesting," he said looking straight towards her, "maybe sometime you could tell me some more about it." He could hear in her voice what she felt for her pride and part of him couldn't help but wondered what it would be like to be apart of a pride. A pride that was your own, since for a guy like him - a wander, it seemed almost impossible.
"a familiar, huh? did I look that frightening from afar?" he joked with a slight manly laugh. "An your right I should have, but sometimes something in me just says to keep going. That something better is ahead... and it looks like this time it was right." He finished his words with a wink towards her since he couldn't help it.
"A guard really? Well that would definitely explain it, though doesn't it ever get lonely out here all by your lonesome?" he questioned kindly before smirking at her next remark. "Oh really now? Well as long as you try not to tempt me I think I can do that." he said teasingly back towards her. This female was definitely different for others he had encountered and he had to admit he was liking it.

"We're not a violent pride, but we can defend ourselves." She smiled. "I or anyone would be happy to answer any questions you might have." Nko felt herself relaxing. It wasn't often she felt at ease. Her high hopes for her cubs had been dashed, and the lioness had been struggling to hide her dissappointment from them since they were born. Getting away from the pride for long guard patrols had helped. A little.
"Ah of course not." She laughed. "He was flying high when he saw you. Jiang helps me patrol the territory. Because he can get so far up, it is easy for him to see for miles." Just then, the red bird came glinding in to land by his lioness. Jiang turned a green eye on the bright red male lion.
Nko wondered what Jiang saw in the lion. Hopefully the bird's dry humor would be mild today. "Yes I know how that is. You must be tired. Shall we head toward a place you can rest? I had just finished my rounds when Jiang spotted you." She rose lightly to her feet.
"Not since Jiang joined me. Plus sometimes I have a lioness acompany me. It's not so bad when I know I can always return home." She smiled, thinking of her cubs cuddling with her. Jiang gave a squak of laughter, "Depends on what you think tempting is." He eyed the lioness. Nko scoffed at the bird in return. "Now you question my integrity?" She twitched her ear playfully.

Hasha listened with curiosity a non-violent pride that could defend themselves? That kind of pride sounded like something he had never heard of before. "You shall? well I might have some questions for you later, since your pride sounds very interesting to me," he replied with a smirk on face. As he watched the female as she seemed to be relaxing in his presence, and that was a promising sign to him.
"Oh well I'm glad since I would hate to scare a beautiful lioness like yourself," he said kindly as he watched the red bird land on the land near the lioness. "Its nice to met you Jiang," he said only slightly turning his attention away from the lioness to glance at the bird and then within seconds putting it right back on her.
Trying to hold in a yawn that wanted to bellow from his throat he replied, "I'm glad someone does, and that would be wonderful. If I wouldn't be troubling you of course," he then let out a small yawn and shook his head. He was fighting with every part of him just to stay awake and not pass out from tiredness.
"That doesn't sound to bad then, I sometimes wonder what a home would be like," he said almost dreaming and then returning back to earth, "an from what I see in front of me. I say tempting is definitely one thing that may happen to me." He laughed as much as he could without exhausting himself. The moment her ear twitched though he smiled a bit, not only was she tempting but playful too. He was beginning to like the situation he had gotten himself into more and more.

She nodded politely. "It makes me happy to hear of your interest. Most passing rogues don't care." Her voice sounded slightly sad; she couldn't, and wouldn't force anyone to become a member. Everyone had the right to choose where they belonged.
Nko giggled, but didn't hurt his feelings to say that it would take more than a lion to scare her. She was pleased when he greeted Jiang, and the bird bobbed his head back. The rusty lioness rose to her feet, and beckoned. "Come, let's not leave you hanging out around here." Confidently she turned her head toward home, walking slowly in deference to Hasha.
"Of course not. It's no trouble." Her lips curled in encouragement. He was a sweet lion, and she liked his interest in her pride. Maybe he'd stick around for a couple of days. It'd be nice to talk to him. "It's wonderful," she said softly. "I can't imagine what I'd do without it. It was hard when we had to travel so much to find the pride again." Nko giggled and ducked her head slightly in embarrassment. Was he flirting with her? Quickly she decided she like it.

"Well I'm not most rouges," Hasha commented with a smooth voice glancing towards her with a smirk on his face. He never had cared about any pride before, he always thought he could never belong. Though as soon as he met this lioness it was different, a spark was there that he had felt with no other pride lion before. Maybe it wasn't the pride itself but more so who it contained, and that was her. She made all the difference in his interest in the pride, though he would never openly tell her that.
At the sound of her giggle he was brought back from his thoughts, "I like that idea, and well thank you in advance." he wanted to compliment her more but was afraid that he might over do it. So instead he just nodded and said, "I can imagine plus its gets pretty lonely not having a home. I don't get to see ladies has pretty as you out there either." He may have just met her but he felt something and he wanted to compliment her for what he saw.
"You know I'm starting to think I might stick around for a bit, since I'd love to get to know you better," he said with a smile as he quickly walked beside. Wondering to himself just what he might learn about this female he was now infatuated with. She wasn't like any girl before, she was different and he was determined to find out why.

Nko gave an amused chuckle. "Which is indeed a great relief." Well if he wanted to think himself different, that was fine by her. She arched her neck and looked coyly at him as he started flattering her. Nko ate it up. Finally! A male who realized her true potential. She gave a pleased purr and flicked her tail against him. "You're most welcome Hasha. Well I can always let you watch me."
Her eyes brightened as he thought he might stick around. "It would be a pleasure to have you around." Nko loved the attention. "The longer you hang around the better you'll know me." She left it open, as they were nearly at the edge of the dens. I wonder what rank he might get. Her thoughts mused as she watched him with a smile. Only by getting accepted into the pride and going through the initiation could he find out.
