The Gamekeeper's Hut

Now, Quillan had heard a lot of stories about the Gamekeeper's Hut. However, the one that caught his attention the most was the fact that clovers grew nearby. Perhaps it was because he was Irish, or maybe because he liked clovers, but once a break came by, Quillan had dropped his things and sprinted down towards the hut. Several other students had a similar idea as him, but they quickly were left behind. Quillan was a quick runner, not that any wizard would really find use of such a talent. It was Quidditch which got all the attention, if someone could ride a broom fast, they were the cream of the crop. Running, on the other hand, not so much.

After he sped past the rest of his Slytherin classmates, he found himself skidding to a stop. All around him were splotches of grass. Could they have been wrong? Quillan heaved a sigh. He doubted they cared about the clovers, people seemed to be more interested in all the animals roaming freely. "Oh, look! A hippogriff. La-te-da..." Now, where are all the clovers? It would be great, Quill thought, if he could give one to Moa. She seemed to be on the clumsy side...

Once his eyes had caught site of a clover patch, Quillan was crouched near the batch and plucking gently through them. If only I had been so focused and driven in my classes, he thought ruefully as his fingers prodded at the greenery. After a while, the area near the Gamekeeper's Hut became more populated. It horrified Quillan to see some people stepping, digging their trollish feet, into the clovers, completely oblivious to the tyrannous deed they just performed.

"Darn... no four-leaf clover in this one!" Quillan observed with an exasperated sigh. He supposed he could just use magic, but he felt like finding the clover by himself would lose all meaning that way. It was special because it took sweat and blood to get it, right? That's what Mum said, anyway. But Quill didn't think Moa would like it much if he got blood on her clover.

Arona went out to the grounds and desided to go see the area around the gamekeeper's hut. She had heard, she hadn't yet exsplored it and wanted to see what was there. She was a little upset to see a whole band of Slytherins there.

The Gryffindor girl shook her head and desided to just keep going since she was already there. "Heh don't seem too many of them back home." she said to herself when she saw the Hippogriff.

It was about then when she saw the red headed Slythern boy seemingly by himself looking at the ground. She headed over and looked down leaning over a bit. "Loose something?" she asked wondering a little why he was poking though the clover.

"Nope..." Quillan replied, completely focused on prodding another clover out of the way of his field of vision. Not one there either... Finally, he glanced up. Standing over him was a Gryffindor sweater. Attached to it was a Gryffindor girl with red hair, deeper and redder than his own. But either way, she was a ginger--and gingers stuck together. Or, at least, in Quillan's mind, they did. "I'm searching for a four-leaf clover... And ironically, having bad luck," he mournfully explained, brushing some of his locks from his eyes.

The girl was pretty, pale skin, no freckles... Quillan ducked down into the clovers again, hiding as he attempted to see his own freckles. "Perhaps another patch will have better luck," he mused, standing up. Immediately, his legs creaked. It labored him to move his stiff muscles. "Darn, I think my leg fell asleep, that's rotten luck..." Huhh... luck again. Perhaps I should save the clover for myself when I find one--no, no, Moa needs it more than me.

"Anywho, I'm going to go search over there. Care to help me? Four eyes are better than two." He waved her over as he walked into another patch, crouching down in th same uncomfortable position and beginning to prod at the clovers. 1... 2... 3... nope. He repeated the process, whether or not the Gryffindor girl was helping or standing above him still. Gryffindor girl? Suddenly, he craned his neck back and spotted the girl. "I'm Quill, and you?"

Smiled a little and croched down so that her skirt wasn't being over exsposed so that she could help. "Oh Well, I've never really got any luck from mine, ... but maybe it's only because I'm half Irish, Then again I don't really seem to have bad luck eather, so maybe it works." she said with a chuckle.

She then looked over him. "Arona, Arona Nightingale." she said with a smile and a nod, in a confident manner. "Nice to meet ya." she added a little quickly going back to looking though the clover a bit.

She chuckled "Talk about looking for a 1 in a million thing." she said shaking her head lightly "Though I have heard there's at least one in every patch, but it is a deacent sized pach of clover." she said glancing about the feeld. She stoped for a moment at the other Slytheins, she being a Gryffindor had to keep mental tabs on where they were, since the two houses tipicly didn't get along.

Quillan's ears practically perked when he heard the Gryffindor girl say that she was half Irish. "Ohh, nice. I'm full." Perhaps, they would see each other at the Irish camp during the World Quidditch Tournament next time. His parents weren't able to go to the last Cup, but the newspapers raved about it. And the pictures just about told it all. "You'd think we'd have better luck with these things," he added on, parting two clovers to look beneath one. "Ahhh, that's odd! There's a two-leaf clover... I don't suppose that's good luck... Perhaps bad luck?"

As he mused, the girl next to him went on to introduce herself. Her name was Arona Nightingale; Quillan had never heard either name before in his life. "Nice to meet 'cha too, Arona." He placed his arm out for her to shake. When he looked up to see her face, he found that she was glancing at the Slytherins. Immediately, Quill frowned.

"No need to be so paranoid..." He muttered, "It's not like we'd do anything here." He wasn't quite sure why he was bothered by the stereotype about Slytherin, but it seemed that almost everyone, especially people from Gryffindor, lived by those rules.

Arona chuckled, "It's not that I'm paranoid, As a whole Slytherins don't get along with Gryffindors. One guy already gave me a hard time just because of that. Though he was in a bad mood as well." she said rolling her eyes going back to the serch.

Arona went back to the orignal converation, "Really full that's cool. I only know my mum was Irish, but don't know much about the caltur myself." she said with a nod. "Well look at that, six leafs." she said a little bewilderd.

((Woops Thouse other two post where Clovers colors haha, and I have found a six leafed clover once it was odd))

"Ah? Isn't that being a bit biased though?" Quill inquired, standing up and moving to another patch. "It was just him who was angry, I'm sure he would've taken his anger out on anyone--regardless of house." The whole inter-Hogwarts discrimination was a bit annoying. Why did they even set up a system like that to begin with? It seemed to be common knowledge that once people can be identified to be different, a hierarchy attempts to form. Alas, there wasn't anything he could do about it, so he continued searching for a four-leaf clover for Moa.

Quill was surprised by Arona's find. "Whoa-Nelly!" He exclaimed, it was an expression he picked up while watching Muggle-TV. "I swear, these clover patches are mutat--" Quill froze at the realization. Of course it wouldn't make sense for anything at Hogwarts to be normal! Thus, the chances of them finding an actual four-leaf clover was close to none... Darn.

"May I see the six-leaf?" Quill inquired, stretching out his hand to her.

Arona glanced at Qull "Don't get me rong, I'm going to give the guy another chance. I am a Gryffindor, The bravest of the four houses." she said with a chuckle and a smirk. "Though I think he was trying to get me mad aswell. He's another red head like us." she added describing the Slytherin who gave her a hard time the other day.

She rased an eyebrow to his odd exslame. Then she looked back down at the six-leafed clover and carefully picked it from it's spot. "Here," she said and held it out for him to see. It wasn't as big as the four-leaf clover on her ear but it was close.

Quillan had decided to drop the subject of Houses with Arona, feeling that it was dragging into an argument he had little zeal for at the moment. However, even with that mentality, he could barely hold back the scoff when he heard Arona's words. Gryffindor... the bravest? A frown set on his face. Surely, he thought, there were exceptions... He lessened the emotion on his face to merely a weary expression. What she had said had him dumbstruck, and it took everything he had to refrain from commenting on that absurdity. And worst of all, she said it proudly, and matter-of-factly...

"Ah, thank you." He replied, attempting to tear his mind away from the--the--disgust, he felt for her ignorance. Just leave it be, he commanded himself, plucking the six-leaf clover from Arona's hand and bringing it closer to his face.

In one swift motion, he tore two of the leaves from the clover, a huge grin on his face. "Success! This is much better." He observed, half to himself and half to Arona. "It looks inconspicuous, doesn't it? Very four-leaf-clover-ish, if you ask me." It seemed to him that Moa would be none the wiser and Quill displayed a toothy grin, proud of his achievement.

Arona heard the scoff and chuckled slightly, "Hay don't take it badly, Slytherin are cunning, and get stuff done." she said then added, "Ravinclaw Smart, and Hufflepuff Kind"

She nodded "Your welcome," she stated and watched as he he tore two of the leafs off.

"Not bad at all. I don't think it would make the diffrince to someone who didn't know it started as a six-leaf." she said with a smile. Stratting out her legs and putting her arms behind her back.

"Yeah, it does." Quillan agreed, admiring his work with a gleam in his eyes. He was now entirely focused on the little plant before him. Moa will be so happy! Without taking his eyes off of the plant, he started walking back up to the castle. "Thanks, Arona!" He called back. However, he didn't get very far. Only a few feet away, his foot caught on a root and he went tumbling down the hill he was perched at and under the fence separating them and the mob of hippogriffs.

"Wh---oaaaa... Dizzy..." When he opened his eyes, he found that the world was spinnin--"Uh oh!" Wide eyed, he forced his body to roll again; just barely dodging a hippogriff's griffin's paw coming down to stab him.

Immediately afterwards, Quillan flipped himself back up to his feet. However, the shift of balance made him tumble to the ground again. The hippogriff was closing the distance between them... Darn it! I'll get in trouble if I do something to him! Quillan yelped as the hippogriff went in for another stab.

Arona grimiced when he tumbled down the hill. "Oh wow,That looks a bit painfull." she said runing to the fence where the Hippogriffs where.

When she got to her side of the fince she Quillan was being chaced by a Hippogriff. "Just run out of the from the fence." she said consernd but a little out of breath.

She ducked under the fence and ran out between the Hippogriff and Quillan. She didn't know if it'd work but it' was worth a try.

The hippogriff paused on it's pursuit when Arona intervened. However, it didn't stop him for long. "Move!" Quillan ordered, now back on his feet. The time Arona had given him was precious--but it was pretty dumb of her. He was thankful, but a bit appalled at the same time. Without seeing whether or not Arona could dodge, he made a lunge for her arm and attempted to pull her out of the fenced off area. "C'mon, hurry!" He ushered, forgetting all about the clover to push her towards safety. The hippogriff was still on the offensive, digging it's claws into the soft earth as it rampaged towards them.

"We're not insulting you!" Quillan exclaimed, throwing his hands above his head in an exasperated motion. "Nor were we belittling you!" Dumb, prideful bird! He thought to himself angrily, narrowy dodging the birds beak. The hippogriff, however, while he dodged the beak, managed to graze him with its claws while Quillan was preoccupied. Owww! He heard the fabric of his pants ripping, and soon after, warm liquid gathering on his leg. It wasn't a deep cut, but it was sure bleeding quite a bit.

"Get under the fence, quick." Then, something dawned upon him. Hippogriffs could fly. What good would a fence do?! "Oh, forget it!" He muttered, ripping out his wand from his pocket. Lumos! A bright light came from the tip of his wand; Quillan made sure to look away from the light so he wouldn't be blinded. Hopefully, the hippogriff wouldn't have the sense to, though.

Arona ran once she knew he was up and actuly on his feet insted of flondering around. It help that he pulled her along once he was actuly up and running.

She went though the fence when he stoped and did the lumos spell. She manged to tern her head away at the sound of "os" She grabe his arm pulling him though the fence. "Let herry up and get out of here before that thing get it's site back." she said.

That when she actuly looked his leg and knew it would be a little harder for him since it was bleeding badly.

"I concur!" Quillan announced, continuing to drag Arona along for as long as she didn't pull her hand away. Even though they were outside the Hippogriff pen, he was still running full fledged. The hill, however, was making it harder. Quillan took a glance back, to see the hippogriff near the fence, beating its wings in a blind fury. "I don't know if that pen is magicked..." He explained between pants, his eyes still lingering down on near the pen, waiting see if the hippogriff could get out of the pen. Heck, if they got in, why couldn't the hippogriff get out?

But it couldn't. By now, the hippogriff could see again, and it was glaring at them, balking, and screeching bloody murder. But it wasn't flying. Quillan flopped to the ground, pulling down on Arona's hand with him. "PHEW!" he exclaimed, releasing her and laying flat on his back, gazing up at the sky. "That was exciting!" He commented, trying to regain his breath. "But I don't think I want to do it again anytime soon..." Quillan admitted, rubbing his face with his hands. A smile was plastered on his face, because frankly, adrenaline was still pumping in his body and he wouldn't feel the cut for at least another ten minutes.

"Phew..."
