◌ Pine River ◌

Located within the gates of Konoha, the Pine River can be found in a clearing within a forest of Pine trees to the Northeast of the village. Pretty much hidden within the forest, only a few know of its existence making it the perfect place to hide and relax from everything else. This is also an idea place for water users who prefer to stay within the village while training in the art of water manipulation.

"The basic food group? Why they are..."

When Satsuzame had earlier gave her hand a chast kiss, Oki simply responded with a cute tilt of the head. To her it wasn't that big of a deal more of a 'what's that for?'. Sure she's seen her brother do that to other girls when he's trying to get a girl's attention but to her oblivious little mind, what Satsuzame did was rather confusing. 'Wonder why he did that?' Shrugging it off as a general greeting of sorts, Oki continued to merrily continue on her way back to the village. Eating through her sack of chocolate bars, Oki happily skipped the way through the crowd and towards the Northeast part of the village where a large forest grew.

Stopping at the part of the street that marks the end of civilization and wilderness, Oki turned her head a bit to make sure that the interesting shark boy was still following. Easily spotting his blue shark like figure within the crowd, Oki consumed the rest of her current chocolate bar before taking the first step into the forest. The sweet smell of pine immediately filled her nostrils as she entered the forest's domain. Surrounded by a thick batch of pine trees, there was little light to go by despite it being early into the afternoon.

Taking out another chocolate bar, Oki began nibbling away at it as she moved through the forest as swift a the flowing river. Several tricky twists and turn later, bright light could be seen overhead and smiling a wide childish grin, Oki picked up her pace and joyfully jumped into the beautiful forest clearing. Dropping her bags onto the floor, Oki hurriedly stuffed the rest of her chocolate bar into her mouth, kicked off her sandals and quickly made her way into the shallow river. Using both hands to lift the sides of her dress, the water reached up to her ankles as Oki happily skipped around the water while she waited for Satsuzame to arrive and prepare for training.

"...Sugar, Sweets, more Sugar and...CHOCOLATE!"

Ryuujin had often found himself wading through these waters as a kid, whenever he could find one of the orphanage helpers to actually take him (which wasn't often. He was a bit of a handful around water). He always loved to splash around, train himself to see how long he could hold his breath underwater. He once even tried swimming against the current after a particularly hard storm, a few weeks before he had left for the ninja academy.

"Ryuujin Morii! What in the name of Sarutobi are you doing?? Looking to get yourself killed??" Toshi yelled when he noticed what Ryuujin was doing. "Of course--glub glub--not! I'm just trying to strength--huff huff--en myself for the ninja academy! I need to be strong if I'm gonna pass and be a strong shinobi one day!" Ryuujin gasped between strokes, barely keeping in place. "Ah! Toshi-san, help me!"

Ryuujin had fond memories of this place and felt confident that throughout his life he would return here, this marking his first training session. He took a deep breath and jumped into river, the water up to his waist where he was standing.

"Okay! No more backtalk! I am ready to learn, so please, honorable sensei, teach me!" Ryuujin bowed and kept himself staring into the flowing river until he got a response back.

Synn's mist Shunshin caused her body to regain its form within seconds of her departure from the training grounds. It was during this time that she glanced about her and retreated into the vegetation surrounding the river, taking cover behind the underbrush long enough to change out of her standard clothes and into something more suited for training with her student. Her clothes were the usual: a pair of black shorts and a cropped top that was the color of spilled blood. Her leather boots, along with everything except for her shuriken holster, were left on the bank of the river while she waded in up to her knees into the water. The current caused the water to swirl around her legs, cooling her skin and relaxing her muscles as she waited for the boy to arrive.
And arrive he did. She turned to face him, her smirk quickly becoming a scowl as he splashed into the water up to his waist. She shook her head in disapproval before clearing her throat and stepping forward, water streaming in rivulets down her skin that was the color of old creamy ivory. Moving her right arm in a sweeping gesture before holding it palm-up before her, three small streams of water followed the path of her gesture before hovering over her palm and rotating gently as she moved her fingers.
"Ignoring your conspicuous entry, this will be the first technique you learn: basic water manipulation. Mizu Soujuu requires no hand seals, but you must learn to combine your chakra with the water before you. You are to create a sphere of water, much like those I have here, freeze it, and cause the surface to boil." She stepped back from the boy, continuing to twirl the orbs of water above her flattened palm.

Ryuujin took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He tried as hard as he could to focus his chakra into his left hand. Ryuujin slowly opened his eyes as he bent down and sank his hand into the river. Again, he slowly pulled his hand out of the water and found a decent amount of water sticking to it, fusing with his chakra. Not stopping to revel in this most minute of accomplishments, he felt the chakra within the water and tried working it, bending the water into a sphere, albiet a somewhat shaky one. Ryuujin sent a surge of chakra through his arm, then hand, and into the water. He watched as the small orb slowly stopped moving and paled, freezing over and turning white.

Ryuujin decided to experiment a little and add a little flourish to his work. He drained all his chakra out of the water and it instantly melted and fell through his fingers. Before it could reform with the rest of the river, Ryuujin shot out his right hand, pulsating with chakra. The water was caught in his hand and formed a sphere as it fell, as if it were being poured into an invisible, round case. Within seconds, Ryuujin had the sphere boiling above his right hand.

Chakra Control: This Shinobi is a master of Chakra Control, allowing them to more easily learn to mold their chakra to perform jutsus, as well as allowing them to use their chakra more effeciently when using jutsus. At higher ranks they even learn to mold chakra without the use of hand-seals.
(-2 posts for training, reduced chakra costs (see Chakra System), can perform jutsus that are two or more ranks below you without hand-seals.)

Quote:
Justu Learned:
Mizu Soujuu (Water Manipulation)
Description: Any Mist Shinobi that uses ninjutsu should likely have this technique. This involves learning basic manipulation of the properties of water. Boiling, freezing, and pressurization of water are included in these studies. Freezing is mostly limited to small amounts of water, and boiling includes the creation of steam by further putting chakra into the water. The user cannot perform these tasks on larger bodies of water with this basic study alone. Furthermore, by learning to draw water from the moisture in the air, the shinobi can use water techniques without requiring a source of water nearby (unless stated otherwise.) A Kage level jutsu always requires a water source, even if the Mist-nin in question creates it first.

{i only need 1 post, correct? because this is an E-rank jutsu?}

Scarlet eyes carefully tracked the boy's movements as he dipped his hand into the water, forcing his chakra to meld with the molecules and shape the liquid into a sphere. She watched silently, her face a blank mask, as the boy froze the water, the color paling as it turned to ice in his hand. Her eyebrows raised slightly as he practiced with the technique, allowing the liquid to fall between his fingers before regaining control of it and shaping it once more into a sphere. As the very surface began to bubble, boiling from an invisible heat source, Synn nodded, her face smoothing quickly back into a mask.
"Adequate, though the melting bit was a bit of an unnecessary flair." The petite blonde Jounin deadpanned, her fingers moving in an almost rhythmic, mechanical way to keep the orbs floating above her hand. Quickly pulling her hand back and draining the chakra out of the water, the orbs fell back into the river with an almost inaudible splash, instantly melding with the other water and being swept away by the current. "You will now learn Mizu no Waruasobi, the Trick of Water technique. This technique, once again, requires no handseals. The way this jutsu is formed, is by coating each fingertip with Suiton chakra, and flicking one's fingers, like so," Carefully pooling chakra from the Tenketsu on her fingertips of her right hand, Synn flicked her wrist, feeling the water vapor in the air sticking to her chakra. As she flicked her fingers, the water quickly condensed, a minute stream soaring in an arc through the air and landing in the river. "This jutsu is used most often to obstruct an opponent's eyesight, as the hypotonic water has a lower sodium concentration than the isotonic saline in a person's eyes, causing irritation." Synn fell silent, observing the boy quietly as she waited for him to practice.

[Correct. One post shall suffice for this as well.]

His sensei, and yes, she was definitely more of a sensei than any he'd had before, stupid Uchiha.. didn't show any happiness out of Ryuujin's quick grasp of the jutsu, and she obviously didn't like his theatrics. She frankly didn't seem to be enjoying her job at all. He would prove his worth though. That was his ninja way, after all.

He watched her intently and concentrated hard on copying her. Hypotonic..she is definitely just trying to be showy there, i just know it. He didn't dwell on it though. Confident he could master anything she showed him, he pressed his palms together as if in preparation for prayer. He focused Suiton chakra onto all ten of his fingers. I see...by using what i just learned, instead of using my chakra on the water below me, i'll use the water in the air. Yes! Of course, I'll be still needing that extra touch... Ryuujin smirked. As he separated his fingers, he felt an unusual, though expected, sensation. Water vapor was being pulled and stuck to his suiton-coated tips. He brought his hands, fingers splayed, close to his face, then flung them out. He carefully controlled his chakra as to release the water vapor one at a time, sending ten very small streams into the air, and ultimately the river.

Mizu no Waruasobi (Trick of Water)
Description: A very simple technique which involves a simple flick of one's hands and a muster of sweat in the fingers. A precise flick comes from of the hands or even a shake can be made as if trying to get something off one's hands. The water streaks from the hand of the user and towards the enemy's eye. This unexpected irritation can blur their vision.

The boy's hand moved through the air in a motion that was swift, but not quick enough for Synn to miss as her hand shot forward, grasping his wrist tightly. Her grip was enough to cut off his circulation, but not tight enough to actually hurt him, though she imagined that losing the feeling in one's fingertips would be mildly uncomfortable. Her skin, which he would be able to feel, as her gloves were sitting on the bank of the river with her other material possessions, was perfectly dry though she had been handling water, silken in its texture and feel, and cold as a grave. As her left hand gripped his wrist, she reached up with her right hand to brush away the patch that covered her eye, revealing several vicious scars that were clearly left from slash marks in a fight, probably caused by a kunai. Her iris was still the same shockingly scarlet color, but the color was blurred and cloudy, her pupil misty as if out of focus. The absence of the patch over her eye was a way of showing one thing: Synn Fierce was blind in one eye.
"Theatrics, whether they be used on the battlefield, or simple flair to make training interesting, could get you killed, or wishing you were dead." Her left eye stared at him with crystal clarity, letting him know that she could still see with that one while her right eye was useless. "I of all people would know." Her murmured deadpan resonated in the silence as she released the boy once more, replacing the patch over her eye and allowing her face to smooth over once more. "If you are prepared to proceed, then we shall. Your next technique will be the Mizu Kagami no Jutsu, the Water Mirror technique. Do not confuse this with anything you may read about the Demonic Crystal Ice Mirrors used by those who can manipulate Hyouton. This is similar, but on a much smaller scale." She swept her hand, palm-down, over the surface of the water, allowing a small disc of liquid to collect in her palm, reflecting the sky and tree branches above their heads. "What you are trying to do is cause the molecules of the water to still, turning reflective. Freezing the water in an effort to create this jutsu will not work, as it will only turn the reflective surface white, and will no longer reflect. Condense the water into a mirror and tell me what these words say." With a simple wave of her hand, the mirror in her hand formed into a thin ribbon of water, curling into careful script that was identical to Synn's own. The words, however, were written backwards and impossible to read without a reflection.

[One post for this. The words read "The will of the Land of Fire burns without cease."]

Her grip was cold, cold as he's ever had. He felt the tips of his fingers go numb, the chakra still holed up there barely recognizable. The image of her eye was not one he would forget. d***. Her eye. It's horrible, in contrast to the brilliant vibrance of her other eye. Ryuujin felt pressed to ask her for more, he wanted to know more about what caused it. Was it her fooling around, or someone else? Was it training, or in a battle? If not her, was it a friend, a comrade? Was that what caused her Hyouton-esque personality? Ryuujin found back a very impolite shudder. He understood. No more theatrics with her. She was training him, and the least he could do was respect her. though, to be fair, there's not a whole lot i could do to make this glamorous...but that's completely irrelevant. Focus, Ryuu, focus.

"I apologize, sensei-san, I will strive to do better."

He grew quiet, did his best to imitate her as best he could. Even attempted that glacier-cold face. Ryuujin dipped both his hands into the water, and pulled up a double-handful of water {like, if you were drinking water, you would you both your hands to cup the water}, keeping it still with his chakra. Just as practice, he froze the water, quickly, then defrosted and boiled it. Only for seconds, as to avoid possibly burning himself. "I'm just testing myself, sensei-san, I know what i'm doing." He said this without lifting his head or looking away from the water. He focused in on the chakra once more and delicately played with the atoms. Too much, and the water would boil or freeze. It was opposite what he'd been doing up till now. Instead of moving the water with his chakra, he had to stop it, but with minimal chakra instead of maximum. The water grew still. He held his hands toward the blond kunoichi's.

"The will of the Land of Fire burns without cease...thank you, for all so far that you have taught me," Ryuujin released his hold on the water, and poured it back down, "if it is not above me, may i learn that technique you used earlier, at the training grounds?"

The Jounin smirked, seeing the boy's startled gaze as she revealed her useless eye to him, impressed as he cupped the water in his hands and carefully tested his ability to manipulate it. He was learning quickly, that much was certain, as Synn had been keeping a careful eye on him through every trick she taught him. The water boiled and froze for several seconds, Ryuu being careful not to injure himself with it as he tested his chakra. The water stilled within seconds, the surface becoming glassy and reflective as he directed his hands at the words she had written. His voice rang out confidently as he read the words with crystal clarity, and for the first time since their meeting at the Training Grounds, a small smile graced her lips. She was making careful mental notes about the boy as he trained, and his suddenly emotionless face internally startled her. He refused to look up at her as he spoke, keeping himself humble. Her fingertips gently lifted his chin so he was looking into her revealed eye, a soft look gracing her angelic features.
"Theatrics can lead to injury, but that is only for those who are unprepared. Being prepared, being careful, is not the same as enclosing your heart in ice the way that I have. My reason for my cold demeanor is simple: showing emotion, especially affection, can get the people you love killed." Her glove-free hand dropped back to her side as she raised the tips of the fingers on her right hand to touch her cheek, just under one of the scars. "I sustained my injury when I was a Genin training for the Chuunin Exams with my sensei, Kurai Sarutobi, in Kirigakure. For practice, I was sparring my friend, Leiko, but I will admit to showing off a bit. That was all it took. One split second, one misfired jutsu, and I've been blind in my right eye ever since. It took me two additional years of training to become a Chuunin, and during that time, I was having a hard time adjusting to only having one eye. The night my parents were killed, I could have saved them. I could have stopped the intruders and been the heroine. But I was too focused on the theatrics of battle rather than the harsh reality. And that caused the death of two people I loved dearly." She smiled sadly at the boy as she gestured for him to come closer, so she could continue training him, smiling more widely at his request to learn the Kiri Shunshin. "That skill is more difficult than the ones you have been learning. You have seven more jutsu to learn, but I promise to teach you the Shunshin I used earlier." She took a deep breath, focusing her chakra to gather in a well in her stomach.
"This one is quick. The Uo Tsuba, or Fish Spit technique requires you to combine elemental and non-elemental chakra in your throat, forcing it up, and expelling it from your mouth, causing you to literally spit a jet of water." Making the handsigns quickly, a jet of chakra-infused water jetted from her mouth, landing with a gentle splash several yards away.

[One post for this. As for the Kirigakure Shunshin that she used, that is a C-rank technique. As a Genin, you can only learn three C-rank technique. I just want to be sure that you are 100% positive that you want one of those three C-ranks to be the Shunshin. Info and restrictions are found here.]

Ryuujin paused, unsure of what to say. "I'm...I'm sorry for your loss. My parents died when I was still a babe, and I have very few memories of them. They were killed by mercs to settle a gambling debt my father had paid off years ago. I'm...still in the process of hunting down and slaughtering those who are responsible for their deaths. How were you able to train to be so strong even though you're blind in one eye? Oh, er, sorry, senesei-san, that was rude. I'll get back to my training." Ryuujin was secretely pleased at how she was warming up to him, but it Lucy was any evidence, showing you were happy wasn't the best advice with women. So, instead he concentrated even harder to learn his newest jutsu.

Fish spit...how very useful...but if that's what I need, that's what I need. Seems simple enough, eh? He copied the handsigns she used and inhaled as much as he could. He felt the chakra in his throat and pushed it up into his mouth. He then exhaled, mouth wide open. Instead of a jet of water, what came out was more like if you dropped water into a fan; the water just sprayed every which way, with no power at all. He turned to her, chuckling weakly and offered a small grin. "Sorry, sensei-san." He focused this time, taking it completely seriously. As before, he made the proper handsigns, breathed deeply, and this time opened his mouth just enough for the proper pressure to create the jet of water. It was at the last second that Ryuujin realized he had accidentally aimed at Scarlet Eyes. He threw himself down, into the river, which Ryuujin supposed was, in reality, a good practice because he probably wouldn't be standing still when using this jutsu. Luckily, it didn't seem like it was going to miss her, and that if anything maybe only a few drops would land on her bosom. On the plus side, it seemed the jutsu worked perfectly. All this was supposition, of course, as Ryuujin did pull himself into the river to try and avoid hitting his teacher. Gingerly he stood back up again, now completely soaked, all save an arm that he kept out of the waist-deep water.
"Sorry, sensei-san, i did not mean to fool around! i was being completely serious!"

Ryuujin took a moment to stare at the sun and for some reason felt he should go.

"Sensei-chan, I'm sorry but, and I know this sounds weird, I have to go. Maybe it's intuition or maybe I'm becoming restless. I'm pretty sure its the latter, but i don't know. Anyway, thank you so much for all the training. I will gladly repay you whenever you need me." With a bow, he splashed out of the river and started running back towards the village.

Y'know, it really would've been great to learn that technique, great irony and all . Ryuujin thought with a chuckle.

He kept running, afraid of what might happen if he didn't and all he could hear was the beat of his heart and tick tock tick tock in his head, it was driving him nuts. He ran through the woods, there had to be more water source like a river to help him through this to get back in time! His feet smacked into the tree limps as he fell on one of the limps, smacking into the ground and signing, what else could go wrong? He took his water bottle and drank from it, it was needed badly right now.

When it was empty he stood up, feeling the sudden soreness just from those seven miles, he forced his thinly built body to move again, looking around he spotted what he needed, a river! Running to it, he looked up and down both ends of the river and saw it went to towards the training grounds! Perfect! He dipped his water bottle in, getting fresh water to drink later and putting it back. Jumping into the water to let the fast current take the light blue water away.

Murasaki quietly walked to the pine river, and simply sat down in the grass, right at the edge of the river; and stared at her reflection.
It looked nothing like her. But why did it matter so much; at this point of time?

Oh, yes. It's because she kinda missed them.
Murasaki made a small sigh, as she gently touched her hair; not looking from her reflection. She averted her eyes to look at her hand. Her heart sunk.
Even her skin tone had changed. Everything about the shy Kumo resident had slowly faded away over the years. If she ever visited her old home; she would probably not even be recognized.
But that boy did, that other time.. when she was so..

Broken.

The villagers probably had forgotten about her, or had given up on finding her. They must of.. Or did...
No, he wouldn't of. That boy wasn't that type of person to say something like that. Murasaki knew he wouldn't do that to her. He wasn't that heartless.

As Murasaki was in the amongst her trains of thought; there was the one thing that was on her mind.

What now? And why?
