 It was twlight and Shenu was still strutting around the grounds. Bravely sticking his nose into dark corners to see what he could find. It wasn't just about strength, he told himself, but courage. Clearly the son of a princess should have both. He looked ahead and saw a long darkness expance in front of him.
His yellow eyes peered in. For a moment he thought he saw something moving in the inky darkness. He counted himself silly for believing that. Boldly he stepped forward; paws raised high with each step. Gravel shifted under his paw. He could smell dampness. The cub ventured deeper. Was that a rat he heard?

 Ubora had been making her way back to the den she shared with Apiyo after a long day of study with the priests, thus far it had been a rather uneventful trip home - as it generally was - but as she rounded a corner she saw a cub peering into one of the long and darkened alleys that dotted the Temples expanse.
Before she could reach him - and really she doubted the cub had even noticed her as he seemed far to preoccupied with something in the darkness - the cub disappeared into the darkness. Ubora...well really he wasn't entirely sure what to do..she was new to the pride but surely a cub shouldn't be wandering down dark alleys all by their lonesome right? trotting forward she paused at the alley mouth and peered into the darkness..faintly..ever so faintly she thought she might see the outline of the wayward cub..and the little beast was going further in! "Excuse me? Youngling...should yu really be down there?" She called out to the cub.

Shenu batted his paw forward. There was the wall. He snuffed for the smell of rat. It was there, but very faint. They must be hiding. Devious things, he thought. Well Shenu-Hotep would hunt them down! No matter where they went or how they.....
His gloating was interupted by a female's voice. The cub turned back and saw her clearly outlined in the better lighted area. How could she assume he shouldn't be here?
"Should I? Well of course I should. It's clearly within the allotted cub area. I ain't scared of no rats either." He trotted out and up to her. Looking up to give her a good look over. "Do you know who my mother is?"
His chest puffed out and his tail twitched importantly. He would show her not where to stick her nose.

Ubora looked down at the little cub with his puffed up chest and might have let her lips twitch upwards in a small smile if she didn't think the boy was being quite serious with his statements - surely being amused at his puffed up nature would just make him more defensive. "Ah..I see, well how very brave of you young sir - its a very dark alley and rats can sometimes have very sharp teeth" She told him with a slight shudder. Nasty things rats, not that she was afraid of them but she didn't see any harm in allowing the boy his pride.
"I'm afraid that I don't" she told him apologetically "I've only just joined the pride a few days past, I haven't met many of the others yet" She explained with a soft smile quite sure that the young cub would shortly enlighten her of his heritage - he wouldn't have mentioned it if his mother wasn't someone important.

He wanted to preen when she called him brave. It wasn't every cub who would take on rats. Clearly this lioness knew good stuff when she saw it. "They do, but I don't let that stop me."
"Oh." he sat down comfortably. That explained why she didn't know. It wasn't her fault and Shenu felt it was his duty to enlighten her. "My mother is the princess Sher-Kha-t. Her parents are Pharaoh Muroki and Queen Johari."
Shenu was most pleased that he was the grandson of the current Pharaoh and Queen. But that wasn't all and he had another ace up his paw. Mischeviously his eyes twinkled. "Wanna know who my daddy is?" His tail wiggled eagerly.

It seemed her words about bravery had soothed whatever rumpled fur her admonishment over going into the alley had rumpled - or at least the little fellow seemed pleased enough for the moment, though when it came to cubs Ubora knew such things could change on a whim. Cubs were finicky like that.
And then when he revealed the mother he was obviously so proud of she had to blink a bit before answering him in what she hoped the cub would take a suitably reverent tone - the gods knew she didn't need to be stirring up trouble with the royalty so close after joining the pride. "Oh my! Well it is ever so wonderful to meet you then young Sir" She told the cub with a nod of her head, and she expected that when he told her who his daddy was the cub would regale her with even more royal bloodlines "I would love to know"

Shenu suddenly decided he liked this lioness. She knew the proper attitude, and listened to him. He reveled in it. Now if only more acted like she did; for instance the nannies and his teachers. He had grumped about that. Having to learn with other low born cubs was an insult to him and his mother.
"I'm sure it is." He knew he was awesome to meet. His tail twitched vainly. "My daddy is the God of Rogues." He smirked and watched her through slitted eyes. Surely she'd be awed to be in his presence now.

My but he was a rather proud little lion now wasn't he? Though she supposed anyone would be proud to be the son or daughter of a Princess, though she rather hoped he would grow out of it a bit as he grew - it was adorable in a cub of course but in an adult Ubora thought perhaps she would find it more then a bit.. challenging..to deal with.
As he was a cub however, Ubora could easily overlook that fact and gave him a bright smile while she waited for him to reveal his father - she fully expected it to be another member of the royalty or upper classes - else he wouldn't be quite so very pleased with himself. She couldn't help the slightly shocked look on her face when he told her his father was a ...god. She wasn't entirely sure how to deal with that one - being a priestess (in training) of course she held the gods in very high revere and while their mortal children were still mortal some of them were rumored to have special abilities - though it seemed rude to outright ask the cub if he did and he'd just get irritated if he didn't and had nothing to brag about in that regard..no it was probably best to leave that alone for now "Oh my!...Well I can see why your so very brave then" Was the answer she finally came up with.

Shenu couldn't restrain a laugh at the look on her face. She never even suspected! He bounced around pleased with himself. He was the best of the best. True his siblings were the sons and daughters of a Princess and God too; but Shenu had to admit to himself that he was clearly the best.
"Why thank you." He purred and bowed to show his acceptance of the compliment. What a nice lioness she was. In return for her adoring attention the cub decided he would repay her some. She had said she was new to the pride. It would be his honor to show her around.
"My name's Shenu-Hotep. What's yours? I can show you around all the good places." It didn't occur to him that being an adult allowed her to travel to more places than he could.

Ubora watched as the young cub bounced around in obvious cub glee as he sprung his surprise on her - and it seemed that her remarks had been suitable as he then decided to share his name and offer to show her around. Well...she didn't have anywhere else to be and certainly there were worse things to do then spend time with a royal cub, sure he was a bit on the vain side but he wasn't a bad little fellow - just young.
"My name is Ubora" She told him with a slight nod "And I would love to be given the grand tour by such an esteemed member of the Pride as yourself" She continued, perhaps continuing to feed his ego wasn't the best choice in the world for his future but surely this once it would be fine.

Shenu twitched his ears proudly forward. Now if only the rest of his pride saw him as an esteemed member everything would be great. His view of his self-importance swelled another ten points. With how important he was, he should surely get an important job when he grew up. The cub couldn't wait.
"A pleasure to meet you Ubora. Come this way then." He stretched his short legs as far as they would go in his walk of self importance. Since he was special he had to act special. Walking like a normal lion was beneath him.
"Sooooo. Since your new, you'll be taking lessons with the younglings to learn our ways. Let me tell you the teachers are such a pain. They treat me just like any other lion, so you'd better watch out for them. See that place over there? That's where they take place. And further beyond that is the sleeping area. There's always somebody sleeping so be careful not to step on any tails."

Ubora followed after the cub tolerantly while he strode off to give her this grand tour - she could tell he was quite proud of himself and while he thought the boys walk was a bit too overdone she kept those thoughts to herself - there was nothing wrong with being confident with yourself right?She'd been a confident cub and she had turned out alright. Although perhaps not quite as confident as this little fellow.
"Someone had mentioned that" She agreed as he spoke of taking lessons until she and Apiyo learned more of the Prides customs - and it seemed some thing never changed, she had always recalled disliking her teachers when she was the cubs age too, though she was pretty sure she'd find them far more favorable now that she was older. She didn't think the Shenu would enjoy hearing her tell him that she rather agreed with the teachers on that point- and that even the son of gods and princess' needed to learn in the same manner as everyone else...so she kept that to herself and merely commented on his other statement. "I imagine that would be a rather rude awakening" She agree as she dutifully glanced at the sleeping area.

Shenu twitched his ears and grinned at her. He wasn't going to tell her that he'd 'accidently' stepped on a few tails laying across the way. At least someone had told her about the lessons.
"Yeah. You'll get growled at for sure." Shenu pranced forward heading toward the main cub area. "This next place is where cubs spend most of their days. The nannies bring us stuff to eat and let us play all day." He purred. Here he could strut his stuff all he wanted and watch the other cubs run around playing their games.
"So, what do you think you'll be doing here?" He was curious what job she was interested in.

"And we wouldn't want that" Ubora agreed as she looked the sleeping lions for a few moments longer and made a mental note to find somewhere else to take her own naps in the pride - away from the playful antics of rambunctious or prideful cubs. Twitching her tail with amusement at this thought she followed Shenu as he led her to the cub play area.
"It looks like a pretty nice place to spend the day" She told the cub as she glanced around secretly wondering how long it would be before she and Apiyo's cubs would join those already here, perhaps they would make friends with royalty and spend their days making a game of waking sleeping lions. It was an amusing thought.
"I am going to be a Priestess" She shared with the cub when he asked, glancing down to see what he thought of that.

"Really? A Priestess is an honorable position." He gave an appoving nod. Privately it seemed like a lot of work to the cub. Perhaps she would enjoy something like that. He would much rather be waited on paw and tail.
"So next lets go see......" Shenu paused with his mouth open as a lioness stood at the entrance to the tutors and called him. He gave a long suffering sigh and looked at the lioness. "I'm afraid I wont be able to continue this tour. Seems I'm late for lessons." He looked woeful as he walked slowly toward the calling lioness with his head and tail down.
