Fatherhood had been an interesting thing. At first he'd been awed and fastinated by the idea, and more protective of the little ones he'd rescued from the trials of slavery than he could ever have imagined being. Perhaps he'd have done it for Obadias. But for two strangers? He hadn't known them at the time, just that they were his. And now, well. Now they'd grown and into very well adjusted members of his pride as well. He was particularly proud of Mozi, though whether this was because the young female was a seer could be debated. She was his seer though, and had only reinforced the idea that visions ran in bloodlines. His brother had them. His daughter had them. It made perfect sense to him.

So when Namir told him that there was something unwell about one of his newer daughters, when Kydrimm reported that the young banu, aside from having difficulty adjusting, was also prone to moments of...oddness. Well. Any father would have been concerned for the wellbeing of his offspring. But there was just something about the way he'd been told that raised a little...suspicion. Anwar knew seers after all. He'd learned some of the signs. If his little girl was a seer...well well well then.

"Bad," he murmured, it was always easy for him to find his children wherever they might be. A pair of watchful avians helped him keep them almost always under some form of survalence after all. But in the early morning, when little ones were still sleepy, it was easiest of all to find them. He nudged her softly, that innocent and friendly smile he'd so practiced fitting his features. "Would you like to come with me on patrol?" the lion asked. He didn't truly have an assigned patrol, but it was any male's duty to help keep an eye on the outskirts. And it would give him plenty of time alone with his daughter. He didn't think it would take more than a day to learn the truth of this matter, whatever it may be...

Anwar had picked a good time of the day to seek his daughter out. Badiah had a penchant for wandering, and even her mother’s scolding (which was the only she bore listening to with any form of grace) was not enough to keep her satisfactorily close to the den during the day. Even with his hawk, it would have been at least tedious to track her down.

As it was though, she’d fallen asleep with her face pressed against the side of one of her siblings, but the soft words and nudge woke her and she leaned her head back, yawning and swiveling her ears toward him. Patrol, what? No, she wanted to sleep. Her lids cracked, showing orange eyes that bright even in sleepiness. There was only a moment of relaxed, kittenish sleepiness, and then she focused on the face before her and became much more aware. She didn’t see her father very often. He seemed a little distant, and with fourteen children, twelve of which were new cubs, Bad often felt so swamped in family it was too busy for her to fault him for it. Besides, she had mama, and mama was still everything to one her age.

However, her father’s presence was still exciting, and Bad smiled a little meekly, feeling a bit foolish for having yawned in his face and a little warmed by his smile. She nodded quietly (waking a sibling might have induced the criminal crime of having to take another along), and rose to follow him away the den. Outside of hearing distance though, she was too eager to stay restrained by the strange aura of walking with her father in such a quiet and calm part of the day. “So what’s patrol like? What do we do?” she asked, looking up at him with a serious and expectant expression.
