Anwar had gone, quite abruptly it seemed, from being the father of three, though within the pride the number had been two, to...fourteen cubs. Luckily enough, Mozi and Zadock were of age to help with their new little siblings. But it was not precisely something he had planned. Granted, some of them were not truly his...but no one knew. Save three. The mother, the true father, himself. And soon, though she would be full of rage again, Zarha would know. He needed Star's trust though, needed it absolutely! Her...papamom...would come to see her. He needed her to love and adore him by then or he'd have a very cross leopard. And a cross lioness. And...cross...hares. Which while not particularly threatening, when combined had the potential to be rather embarrassing...

No. It was easier to pretend they were his, all his, and certainly they looked it enough... His eyes lit upon a pair, the others still dozing. Some of his little ones were rough dreamers it seemed, and he was well used to being up half the night as it was. But these two daughters of his were awake. His. His cubs. Well. Hala was his. Misk'Gil belonged...to another. But she thought she was his. That was well enough as it ought to be. Her mother, after all, was his banu. Her cubs ought to be his children...

"Hala. Gil," the lion called softly, his tone pitched just so that they might hear him. "Would you like to come with me to the lake?" he offered. It was not a place cubs would be safe alone, though Kydrimm and his son Kykor were ever watchful when his own eyes were not enough. Zarha beleived in letting them roam a bit if they wished. Certainly as a cub he'd been out of the den more than in. It was easier to learn...all manner of things in that way...

Misk'Gil looked up from where she had been very slowly and carefully arranging a pawful of pebbles in a precise and perfect circle. Her tail curled and uncurled and then curled again about her haunches as she worked, a touch of bored intensity in her eyes. At least, until her father called. Her paw remained steady, more so than a cub's ordinarily would, as she nudged the last stone into place before idly scattering them all as she looked up at her father with an adoring smile.

"Oh yes, daddy, I want to come," she purred, rising to her feet and padding lightly over to twine through his paws. Anwar was her father. She was ever so happy to spend time with him. She remained oblivious to how like her own father she was in that aspect, living to please the male who watched over her and her mothers. Unlike Anwar, however, she had a father who wished to be attentive. Not that his father wasn't. But with so many cubs...and so many other matters to attend to...priories had been different. And the goal Anwar had sought, the goal he still sought, remained nigh unattainable. For him at least. Gil, as the young banu was affectionately called, received a light nudge in return for her own childish affections, before Anwar had lifted his head to await his other daughter's response.

Hala had been telling herself a story, sprawled on her back with all four paws in the air because if she made too much noise people would be upset because she had woken them. It was a good story, with herself written in as the brave heroine who saved papa and everyone from a really big disaster, which she hadn't quite worked out what it was yet but it had been really scary and she was a hero, and - adventure awaited!

She was up in a second, bounding to her Daddy in the next moment - and almost tripping over several paws on the way in her enthusiasm. Why yes. Yes she would like to go to the lake! She skidded to a halt before him, thinking of all the new things to see and the questions she could ask. There were so many things to know, and she really, really wanted to learn them, and her Daddy was - obviously - the holder of that knowledge. Maybe it wouldn't be so easy to ask with Gil along, but she would certainly make an effort to find out as much as she could. "Yes!" she said, before remembering that quiet was the order of the day. "Yes. Please, papa"

The enthusisam of his daughters was...nice. It was nice to be wanted, and like when Obadias had sought him out for companionship and advice so too did the excitement of his children to be near him stroke his ego. It was a small tiny thing to be honest, pride made it hard to go the distance for the knowledge he so often craved. But there was certainly a measure of it when things like this could touch him.

"Then shall we go?" Anwar said simply, leaning to give his Hala a nuzzle. Fair was fair after all, and, unlike Misk'Gil, Hala truly was his blood. "Not too noisy mind," the lion added. It was early yet, and he'd no desire to disturb others who might still be sleeping.

Gil was mildly jealous that her sister wanted to come too. But it was alright, she could spend time with both of them. It was just rare, with so very many family members, to have time with just one parent. One on one time. But two on one time wasn't so bad either. Maybe this could be nice anyway.

"I'll be quiet," she promised solemnly, eying her sister as she did so. She was a daddy's girl through and through, and while it might not be nice she was the sort to be willing to toss someone else into the mud if it made her score points.

Hala could be quiet. She could be as quiet as a lion in tall grass, quieter even, and Gil didn't have to dig at her like that, it was mean. Still, for every snide comment now, she'd be more dedicated to finding a way to drop her in the biggest mud puddle ever later - and Gil had better watch out, 'cause she'd seen a really good candidate just outside the den yesterday. Not that she would probably even try to push her in, because it wouldn't end happily, but... it was tempting. Gil got a brief glance that said revenge would be taken against any attempted injustices, even if she was going up against a head full of candyfloss.

"Sorry" she said, rubbing against him with a purr when he nuzzled her. "I will be quiet, promise" She would be, as well, and if she hadn't been so excited she would have remembered that others were still asleep. "Please, lets?"
