Theluji stretched her long white form languidly, taking solace in the cool green shadows of the leafy jungle dusk. Her bright golden eyes had turned to palest yellow in the falling darkness, and her ghostly body was beginning to show signs of being able to blend into the shadows soon.
The white lioness closed her eyes momentarily and gave a sigh of comfort. Full belly, empty mind; there was no better feeling than this. She'd been tagging along with the lion named Matifu all day, and oddly enough had not grown tired of his company and banter the way she often did with others. He'd wandered off for a moment as she rested on the ground lazily and she wondered when he would return. She liked him, she thought, the way he never balked at her blunt questions and his permanent easygoing smile. He was certainly handsome as well, and in hindsight, Theluji had noticed her slight change in body-language when she was around him. Her mind found his words pleasing, her body found his shape alluring.
Folding her front paws, she flicked an ear, curling her tail about her flanks as a hint of a smirk crossed her face. Theluji, Theluji. She mused. Don't build these castles in the sky. The white lioness had never taken a mate and for good reason. She had never liked the idea of being tied down. She worried she would not flourish in one setting. Still, part of her couldn't help but wonder if the other might feel similarly.

As many times as he'd done this before, something didn't feel right this time around. It was a feeling of unease whenever he thought about what might be coming next. Theluji was giving off all the right signals, he was giving all the right responses, but... something was missing like a pit in his stomach.
He couldn't deny it, Theluji was different, and more special to him than any of the other females he'd courted and mated before. There was something about this one that made him want her to stick around, or to stick around with her himself. She'd already mentioned being a rogue, however, and seemed attached to said lifestyle. There was no way she'd accept an invitation to join his pride. He'd spent the entirety of the day in her company, knowing that if things truely were going to end that way then he'd best be off before either of them got hurt, but she was absolutely intoxicating. He couldn't tear himself away from her side until now, and now only to make sure that there were no other males in the area. Mteuli and his worry-wart of a brother were completely forgotten. He wasn't Mteuli's keeper, after all.
Once he was sure that there weren't any others around to try moving in and cause problems Matifu returned swiftly, only slowing his gait as he came within range of the female's hearing. He sauntered out of the tropical foilage and gave his head a lazy shake, the remnants of their meal long since cleaned away, but the trip through the underbrush leaving bits of foilage in his mane. She was stretched out still when he returned, and he couldn't keep his ghostly eyes from wandering over her form appreciatively, though he did try to keep it discreet.
"Someone looks happy." He observed with amusement, a grin melting across his maw. Up above and unbeknownst to them the skies were preparing to pour down. It was as if Kiva herself was playing a paw in the match blossoming below.

Theluji smiled as the pale colored male with the sun streaked mane padded back into the clearing, his form pushing aside large jungle leaves as he moved past the treeline. She arched her back her body curving naturally toward him as she laughed softly at his comment. "Mmhm," She chuckled. "Cat napping, that's all."
Her eyes met his and held them for a second too long, lingering in a way that was almost suggestive, but suddenly a fat drop of rain hit the lionesse's head. Her ears folded back in surprise and her smile evaporated. Glancing back to Matifu she had the gall to pout slightly. "I hate being wet." She complained in mock dismay, her tone verging on melodramatic.

Gazing into her sun colored eyes, Matifu was just one step away from purring, and half a step away from touching her when the first sign of downpour hit her square on the head. He blinked at the pattering sound it made on contact, and offered her a grin.
"In that case, we'd better find some shelter quickly, because I think it's about to--"
No sooner had he said this than a torrent of raindrops began, suddenly, dropping like a hailstorm from the sky. Loud pattering like hundreds of thousands of of paws slapping water drummed in their ears. Even the cover of the trees wouldn't keep them as dry as they were for long.
"--Rain!" He laughed, starting towards her to urge her up with a nudge of his head. "Come on!"

Theluji roused herself quickly, for truly, she did not fancy being soaked at the moment. At his urgings she took off after him at a run, pelting through tropical foliage as perfect true blue coins fresh from heaven's mint tumbled from the sky in droves. Water was everywhere, splashing off the trees, trickling down the leaves, and the small protection that the thick canopy offered was rendered useless when sprinting out from under one tree to another, or when one of their bodies pressed against some kind of plant, shaking off all the water in one fell swoop.
"This is hopeless!" Theluji cried in desperation, but her annoyance quickly gave way to a boundless amusement mixed with a sudden, rushing happiness. The exhilaration of her paws beating across the ground had set off a flow of endorphins in her brain, and the close proximity she was forced to follow the male with, leaning against him when the path narrowed, made her hormones bubble contentedly.
Suddenly the lioness was laughing, not the subdued elegant laugh that came so naturally to her, but great peals of childish joy. "Where are we going!" She called, voice constricted by mirth.

Matifu had no earthly idea, only seeking the sight of shelter since his nose would be next to useless in this downpour. Creatures fled in their wake, either to escape the rain or the thundering pawfalls. It was then that he suddenly remembered someplace that they could use for relief from the rain.
The pridelands were guarded by a rock formation, a bit of a canyon path. All along that rock facing were nooks and crannies. He was familiar with a cave just wihthin the great walls near said entrance where he and his sister's and litter-mates would often play. It was within the pride's territory, but that was alright.
"There's a cave just inside the pridelands, on the outskirts. The path is pretty dry with all the rock outcroppings. We can hide out there till the rain passes!"
Her laughter made him grin in the likes of which he hadn't done since before the plague, a genuine and light expression of joy. Her laughter brought up a fountain of bubbling warmth, filling the pit that had formed in his gut.
It didn't take long for them to zip through the pass, and just as promised the path there was much more shielded from the sky. They hooked a sudden left and a few moments later the cave mouth came into view.

Theluji had followed dutifully in his pawsteps at the promise of a shelter, breathing hard, and still laughing whenever they ran out into a particularly strong part of the downpour. It was no use pretending she wasn't already soaked. The cave would be of little service, but it would be welcomed anyway. She would be able to clean herself and pull the droplets of water from her fur with her tongue--but that was the least of her thoughts at the moment.
Never had Theluji felt such a way in the presence of another. Encounters were mildly entertaining, and Theluji was not antisocial by any means, but she always seemed to tire quickly of company. This was different. She was happy, and she had never felt such freedom while being in the presence of someone else.
"Race you--" She gasped as the cave came into sight, a huge uncharacteristic grin on her face. She bounded forward in a sprint in one last burst of energy, momentarily pulling herself a couple paces in front of him.

They were both drenched to the core! Matifu's thick mane had suffered the brunt of the damage, sopping wet and almost absorbing the rain now that it had been saturated once.
Matifu's mind was admittedly wandering ahead to when they'd be out of the rain and able to calm down again, and get back to focusing on one another instead of the rain... not that they were really focusing on the rain now to start with. His feeling from before hadn't been at all hindered though, only temporarily displaced by the need to find cover. A cave also meant privacy, and, just the thought of being alone with her in the dark managed to get his heart to fluttering and then beating hard like a love struck adolescent!
He rumbled at her challenge, taking a harmless swipe at her, missing, and following immediately there after with a laugh. Oh, but he was much more interested in catching her than winning the race.
((Matifu, you naughty boy! xd ))
"What do I get if I win?" He half gasped between his paws touching the ground.

Theluji flew towards the cave, her paws barely seeming to touch the ground. Her heart had swelled with want as he'd swatted playfully at her flanks, his form grazing hers for a half second. She swished her tail about her heels in a telling gesture, and at his next question tossed her head back over her shoulder to call out playfully: "--Me!"
Her eyes focused on the dark of the cave, her mind wandering down a similar lane of thought as his. Honestly, what was more romantic than a rainstorm? Despite her lack of love for water, she couldn't deny the way it swept the world into a flurry of excitement.
Her body slowed slightly as the energy from her sprint left her form in tangles of heat. She wouldn't mind if he overcame her. Wouldn't mind one bit.

"--Me!"
Oh, yes, Matifu certainly liked those stakes. He showed as such in the form of another pleased grin. He didn't feel the need to win the race to claim the prize, however, he was quite sure she would give herself freely even if he lost, as would he to her.
As she slowed, Matifu pulled along side her, but instead of passing her by he ducked his head in and took a passing n** at her ear, pulling into the cave evenly with her beside him. Once inside he gave a circle around the divine-colored lioness, panting and still soaked, but not seeming to care. His own want was just as apparent as hers, but he would make no unwanted advances. He didn't want to TAKE anything she wouldn't give of her own choice and wants, and deep down he was also hoping that what they had to offer one another was more than just one night of passion.
Outside the rain still poured, the steady pour drowning out any other sound outside of the cave. He crept closer again and brushed his head against her's, a soft and half playful growl sounding in his throat.

Theluji's spirit soared as Matifu fell perfectly into step beside her, and she would have laughed yet again had her breath not been coming and going too fast with the exhortation. The dark enclosure of the cave was a welcome refuge, and as the jungle rainstorm poured outside, a symphony of nature's percussion, Theluji swirled her ghostly white body around to meet Matifu's.
Without thinking, as he touched her, she began to purr. Likely the other would hardly be able to hear the noise in the downpour that echoed through the small cavern, but he would feel the happy vibration in her throat. The lioness arched her back, curling around Matifu the way a housecat might curl around its master's leg, her eyes glowing a dull yellow in the darkness. It was clear from her expression that she was ready without too much foreplay, and clear from the rumble of passion in her chest just what it was she wanted.
A glimmer danced in those dim golden eyes, a glimmer unlike any other that had ever been there. Somehow, this was already different than the one night stand she'd known it could be...

Matifu watched her responses with ghostly blue eyes, hungry, but not for the flesh of prey.
Their game forgotten, Matifu met her eyes with his own, feeling an unfamiliar but not unwelcomed flutter in his chest. The message had been clearly spoken both in action and verbal. They didn't need anymore words...
