ORP: THE JOURNEY TOThis thread is an ORP for those taking the lighthouse path!
If you'd rather, you can create a PRP thread in this subforum to travel this path as well! You can also switch between the two! For PRPs, you still must follow the announcement thread prompts, and you will still face battles!

And the trek begins...
The lighthouse is still an impressive distance away, despite being the closest of the three marked locations. In addition, the fog makes the landmark impossibly hard to see, it looks like students will have to rely on walking on the path for now, in hopes they reach their destination.
The terrain, upon reaching the path, is littered with gravel and thick, white rocks. Some of the rocks glow with strange etchings marked on them, but, like the pendants some of the students might have obtained, seem to have no visible effect.
((OOC: Students heading this path are free to interact in the ORP AND PRPS as they wish, and switch in and out of them. - You can have a couple of PRPS and still be able to post in the ORP. - HOWEVER, you cannot post in the main beach area orps or prps, once your student has made a choice of where they are headed to! ))

Sheridan hated this fog, he really -really- hated it. He wanted off this island and away from this infernal fog, if he were to go an eon with no fog ever again, he would be quite content with that. Even though the fog had thinned, his book crystals of frozen plasma formed on the edges of his book with hints of his FEAR, he still hated this fog. And he -hated- the feeling that he was being watched.
He paused in his steps, tail twitching, his gaze turning to scan the trail around him. It would be wise to stay on guard here, relaxing for even a moment could prove extremely dangerous. He just couldn't shake it, that eerie feeling that he was being watched. Could whatever the headmistress had planned for those who refused to go on the field trip really be worse than this?
Please let them find whatever signal they were looking for at the lighthouse, and please let it lead them to a way out of this infernal fog and off this island.

Aksaja and Sharra headed toward the Lighthouse without really waiting to see if anyone else would go that way. Truly, Aksaja just wanted to get away from the beach before anything ELSE happened, and Sharra was rather in agreement.
After a few moments of walking down the path, Aksaja tilted his head a bit. "There's less fog here too . . . that's good." Maybe it meant things would be easier.
Haha. Yea right, but still, he could hope?
Blinking, Aksaja spotted someone else up ahead . . . oh, the newest dragon - someone he hadn't met yet. But hey, it was a dragon, so probably best to at least say hi. Moving a bit faster, he called to Sheridan. "Heya! We should probably try to stick together. Whoever's going this way, that is. I'm Aksaja.
(( ooc note: Might not be recognizable as a dragon atm, since he doesn't have his wings/tail lol ))

..and off they headed down the path to the Lighthouse!
Riley looked a little hurt at Malodore's response. Oh. I didn't realize the text distressed you that much. I thought it was cute. I suppose you were under some influence and didn't mean it, then. Ah well. She shrugged, though it pained her to think of it. At least she knew for sure.
The mention of Steve, however, reminded her..
I know you don't want me to speak of Steve, but.. what did Steve look like, exactly? She couldn't have dreamed of something she'd never seen, right? Of course.
A ways ahead of her, Riley could see two familiar shapes. Aksaja and.. was that Sheridan? Dragons seemed to converge with one another, pack mentality she figured. Speaking of which.. she turned her head slightly. Was Jericho coming?

The path towards the lighthouse was relatively quiet. This was part in due to the lack of wildlife and partially due to not walking there with any others at his side. This didn't bother him much, but he had to wonder if the others were alright.
Looking up, he fought the urge to take flight. The skies were rather clear, so while he would be able to see things well, everything else would be able to see him just as easily.
Turning his attention back to the road, he paused when something broke through the silence. For a moment, he tensed up and listened, but they were all familiar voices. Relaxing at that thought, he continued on until he saw a small gathering up ahead. He could see Riley, Malodore, Sheridan, and Aksaja there. Though... the lightning dragon seemed to be missing his wings. That was a little odd to see.
He picked up his pace to catch up with the first two students in the very least. The others were a little further ahead still.
"Looks like we all had the same idea," he said towards Riley with a grin before waving out to the other dragons.

When she had turned her head to see if Jericho had followed, she was pleasantly surprised to see him in her view. She knew their group was split up, and didn't know where Jericho had gone for some time. Seeing him now on the same path made her feel a little better. And at the same time, it made her worry even more.
She waited until he was at her side before taking up his hand with her free one. With her arm crooked around Malodore on her left, and her right hand holding tight to her best friends, she was pretty sure she could take on the world again.
She ignored the small whisper of doubt in the back of her mind. The voice sounded familiar, like a certain reaper. She stifled it as best as she could.
Great minds think alike. She murmured up at him, tilting to one side to give him a nudge. This was actually Malodore's idea, though. So the greatest mind of all. The greatest compliment, coming from a mindflayer. Her natural instinct wanted her to get excited about the possibility of more fights, but it wasn't there any longer. The reaper had taken that away, too.
Now all she wanted was to keep the two at her side safe. She knew she'd give her life to do so, if it came down to it.

Chuckling softly at her response, Jericho couldn't help but feel that there was something a little more subdued about his best friend. It was subtle, so he wasn't sure if it was just his mind playing tricks on him.
Then, he remembered the words she had screamed out when the one reaper had disappeared. Feeling that this was connected, his grin faded and was replaced with a look of concern.
"How are you feeling now by the way?" he asked. Even if the things he was picking up here weren't because of the reaper, she seemed to have been affected greatly by the guy earlier on. He still wanted to make sure she was alright.

Riley's head remained facing straight ahead, but her eyes turned sharply to the right, eyeing Jericho critically. Could he really tell there was something wrong? Was the change so obvious, despite how well she thought she hid it?
The familiar 'I'm fine' began to bubble up from her head, ready to be expelled. She stamped it and replaced it with the truth. I feel like someone has just taken everything I've ever known and believed in, and dropped their excrement upon it. I think that serves to express my feelings at the moment. Her brows furrowed deeply as she looked ahead once more. It's not a pleasant feeling, to say the least. But at least I'm not going through it alone. Both of her hands squeezed affectionately.
And you? Feeling better now that you've healed?

In that moment of silence, Jericho watched Riley. When she finally spoke up, he let out a sigh and shook his head slowly to himself. So that Reaper guy had gotten her pretty hard then. Though, he had been fighting pretty dirty, dragging in everyone else into the fight. When the dragon really thought about it though... they were all fair game. Still, the thought left a bitter taste in his mouth.
At the same time, it had him wondering what this island was exactly. He was still determined that the Reapers were after their FEAR. Why they insisted on toying with them all was still a mystery to him.
Smiling faintly, he gave her hand a squeeze in return and nodded.
"Yeah, it's surprising what a little rest could do," he grinned, "Though, just know.. I've got your back in this ok? We'll get back at that reaper... and all his allies."

Get back at the reaper?
The question Riley had yet to face was.. did she really want revenge on the reaper? The confusion it had left her in was entirely neutral in nature. If she could just hate him, and everything he said, then she could go back to her happy, natural life - where everyone was disposable, and there were two levels to a non-illithid existance: minion or food.
There was no friend.
There was no love.
That was the life she'd lived for years. This school, these students, and everything she'd experienced so far had worked it's hardest to unravel the very fabric of her foundations. The reapers words had simply been the stake jammed into the weak spot of an already unstable facade.
She didn't know whether she hated the reaper, or owed it everything. She couldn't know, until all of the consequences of this new path that lay before her were exhausted.
Then, and only then, could she truly decide.
She had remained quiet, since she was unsure as to how to answer Jericho's firm claim. In the end, she said the only thing she knew for sure.
I've got your back, as well.

Jericho sensed a little bit of doubt, though he wasn't quite sure what it was exactly. He didn't think it was with what she had said, however. Though, he didn't want to keep pressing the issue when it was obviously bothering her. He just hoped that things would clear up for his friend. With a smile and a nod, he just tried to guide Riley and Mal towards the other two dragons.
It was amusing to him that the three of them had chosen this path. Perhaps there was something about the lighthouse that attracted draconic kind. Or maybe it was that they had a similar thought as he; get to high ground.
He was somewhat surprised that Christof hadn't picked out this path. The igor seemed like he would have wanted to tail Riley around. Perhaps something came up.
"Do you think the lighthouse is clear of enemies?" he asked to no one in particular.

Aksaja had slowed down a little bit upon hearing familiar voices behind them, glancing back with a grin. Ah ha, so the usual group was all here. Though he hadn't gotten much of a chance to spend time with all of them back at school, the last field trip had brought them all pretty close to one another.
At Jericho's question about enemies, he shrugged. "No idea . . . though this whole island is supposedly weird somehow." He was referring of course, to the "Captains Log" he'd found at one of the wreckage sites the day before. Something about strangers watching.
Seeing Jericho also reminded him that he had yet to Shift his own wings back into existence. Stopping for a moment, Aksaja's eyes drifted shut and he concentrated . . . and nothing happened.
Nothing.
Happened.
"WHAT THE JACKING HELL? WHY CAN'T I ---" he broke off what was probably a stupid question, and instead started roundly cursing the island itself and all the weird cloaked people and the fog and the ocean, and boats . . . pretty much anything he could think of.
He hadn't really been paying much attention before, but now that he'd realized he COULDN'T SHIFT, the lightning dragon felt almost naked with his wings. And NOT IN A GOOD WAY EITHER. Jack. Dammit. All.

Shortest path huh?
Shortest path her fairy butt!
It was to dangerous to fly around haphazardly, what with random fog and people in dark coats floating about as well, so Astra had to take the trek to the lighthouse the hard way; by walking. Already she was growing tired, having to run when others were walking just to catch up. For a while though she hadn't seen any other students, but now she could see in the far distance a few figures, one who...looked like that dragon from that party with the spin the bottle (but without the wings and tail), another one she didn't recognize, one she didn't want to recognize, and Riley
"w...wait up!" she huffed as she put on a sprint to try and catch up with everyone else.
