This had to be one of the most exciting hunts she had been on! Suria looked down at the muddied ground, her eyes observing the rather large hoof print that had dried in the mud. It was so much bigger than any of the other stallions they had back in the flock! It would have been foolish not to try to see the creature who produced such big prints.
So she set off, alone, to look for the creature. Her search had led her West from the flock, deeper into the forest than she usually treked. It had taken her 2 days to find the Soquili. It was morning, the sun beaming down through the cracks of the branches. Suria peered through the brush to make out a large figure standing next to a fire.
Suria's eyes widened in shock. This stallion was as big as his hoof prints made him out to be. Never before had she seen a male like this one. It was a rare find, and her sisters would give her praise if she brought such an interesting specimin back to the flock. His whole stature was large, filled with toned muscle. His dark hair was cut short, falling around his neck. From her view point, she could make out a few native pictures on his skin. Crouching down, Suria creeped closer to the unaware stallion. Capturing him would be difficult, and if she had been any other mare, she might have considered going back to the flock for backup. But she was a huntress, and an experience one at that. Giving up wasn't her style.
It was usually unnecessary to go straight to violent means on capturing stallions. Threats would do for convincing most of them. If he refused her, she'd let her tallons do the talking. 'What a shame it would be to scar that beautiful flesh,' Standing straight, Suria stepped out into the clearing that the male resided in. The rustling of leaves announced her presence, and she held her head high when he turned to look at her.

Hoto stood next to the fire his companion had made and sighed. Wahu had long since left the fire to be with Ehawee. Hoto and Wahu had never spent so much time in one area and Hoto itched to move on. But Wahu seemed disinclined to leave. The nearby village had accepted him and Ehawee seemed to have captured his thoughts. He talked of her constantly. Whistled silly tunes when he thought no one was listening. It was the beginning of the end and Hoto knew it. He kicked dirt into the fire and snorted.
...and then he smelled something. Mare....but a strange one. Strange mare. He turned to see her walk into the clearing. His first thought was that she was beautiful. Her feathers did nothing to hide her gorgeous milked coffee coat. And he she had wings. He'd always envied the flying types. Not, he supposed, that giving himself wings would mean flight. He was already huge as it was. And then his eyes caught the talons and they widened in shock. Never had he seen such dangerous appendages. They were sharp. This he could tell and she seemed to have no trouble standing on them. "Strange lady, who are you? Why do you stand there and watch me?"

As she grew close to him, her eyes took notice of the details of his coat. Was that paint? She would have to ask him. Suria didn't pause in step when he finally noticed her behind him. She began to smile as he turned to her, to give the illusion that she was harmless. He spoke first. She noticed that he has a peculiar way of speaking. Maybe an accent from his homeland? A few stallions who were brought into the flock had different ways of speaking. She would have to find out where he was from. "My name is Suria, I come from the Flock." She paused to take in his reaction. "I am interested in getting to know you," It wasn't a lie. She was just hiding part of the truth. If he would go with her, perhaps she could trick him into following her into the Flock's territory. After that, it wouldn't be able to call for backup if he wasn't willing to join. While it would make her feel better if he chose to be her servant, Suria wouldn't hesitate to use force if it meant being able to claim a prize like him. "Would you be interested in getting to know me, male?" It was a habit to call any stallion she didn't know the name of by their gender. Better than calling them slaves like some of her sisters chose to.

He watched as she approached. The talons moved individually with each step. Reticulated. Interesting. Why and where would she have gotten those? And what the hell else could she do with them? A small bit on his spine quivered uneasily at the thought. Something like those could potentially be more dangerous than a skin-walkers claws or a kalonas teeth. Strange that he was familiar with both of those but not her kind.
His ears flicked back and forth when she mentioned the name of what was clearly a herd. But not one he'd heard of. Not that this was uncommon. The native villages he knew. The herds he often did not...baring the ones that were friendly with the humans. "I do not know this Flock of yours. Though I could imagine why you might call it that. Those talons and wings of yours are fascinating. Very much like a bird. So why lady, would you want to know me? Surely you could find more amusing company. Whether I would like to get to know you or not depends on what you use those talons for. You don't look or smell particularly evil. But one can't be too sure." She was rather terrifying and still he was interested. Strangely, he was having trouble ridding the thought of nipping at one of her strange feather mane pieces out of his mind. He was rather interested in if they were permanent and what they felt like.

"Your body interests me," Might as well be honest about it, she decided. Hopefully he wouldn't take it the wrong way. "If you would like, I could tell you of my flock while we walk. It's a beautiful place, unknown of by most," she smiled invitingly. Turning tail to the male, she started for the brush. Stopping at the edge she turned back to look at him, "I do not bite, stranger. You're safe with me," He would learn that in time. She was treated all of her slaves pleasantly. Not all of her sisters could claim that. He would be smart to follow her willingly. If he resisted this early, she would have to resort to violence. She could tell that he was already weary of her claws, yet he had no clue just what they could do to that pretty pelt of his.

"My body?" He raised one black brow at her. "I'm afraid we just met lady so it is rather too early to you to presume my body is of your concern." He followed her to edge of the clearing then stopped. "I cannot follow you far. Leaving the fire unattended in foolhardy and my companion is nearby. I should be near if he needs me. But I will walk with you for time. If that is your wish." He turned and walked back to stifle the fire with more dirt and waited till he was sure it would not catch again and burn something important.

"But I'm sure that you're so strong." It was a pitty that he was being used as a work horse for some human. But it meant that he was familiar to the idea of being a pet. If she could gain his friendship, it would be a plus. And make things so much easier for the two of them in the long run."I'm sure that your human companion can take care of itself." She waited for Hototo to reach her side before continuing. "Why do you choose to travel with a human?" Suria asked, quite curious as to the reasoning.

He snorted at he pushed dirt on top pf the embers. "Aye. Very strong." He answered her next queries as he walked back towards her. "Undoubtedly he can take care of himself. He's been doing so for a while. It's what we were discussing before you appeared." He nodded his huge tan head. "I choose to travel with a friend and companion. When we travel he needs me just as much as I need him. I was raised to fight alongside him as his fellow warrior." He couldn't fathom why he was telling her this.

Suria frowned slightly, giving the male a quick glance "But doesn't this human have other more... fleshy companions in it's life?" Humans were social creatures that tended to stick close to each other, or at least that's what Suria was taught to believe in the flock. Had this stallion ever had company besides the human male that he spoke so fondly of? "A Warrior? Is that what those markings mean?" She asked, eyeing up the many different tattooes that he bore.

He raised both his black brows. Why was she so curious? "Not until recently he didn't but yes. Though fleshy? That's not a word I'd use to describe a human." He frowned but listened to her intently all the same. "My markings are a family trait. Passed down proudly through several generations. They make me as the warrior warhorse that I am." He half crossed his eyes to look at the marking ringing his muzzle. "Why? Do you find them too odd?"

"You don't find yourself jealous? Don't you miss being around your own kind?" She tried to choose her words carefully, not wanting to spook the stallion into shutting her out. It was a pleasant surprise that he was opening up to her so easily. He would make a good servant to the flock. A good servant to her. If only she wouldn't have to break his misplaced trust in her today. Suria had to catch herself to prevent the laugh that almost escaped her throat when the strong male all but crossed his eyes. "Do not get me wrong, but I find your markings very attractive. Heritage is something that one should hang on to. With those tattoos, I'm sure that you'll never forget," She smirked, letting him see the way her eyes dragged across his coat. "A Warhorse you say? Hmmm," What a catch this stallion would be. It sounded like his whole family was made up of strong, largely built Soquili.

"My own kind..." He let the words hang as he thought them over. "I am the last of my own kind. How many other hoses have you seen that are even bigger than the kalona? You cannot miss what you never had. There are other things I do miss...." He deliberately didn't finish that sentence.
"They are not tattoos." He snorted, irritated. She'd called them that twice and he was just now realizing it. "I was born with these markings spread all the way across my tan hide. And yes, warhorse. The breeding makes me bigger and stronger. I have the stamina to match. Why are you so curious? I understand you not knowing of a warhorse but why me?"

Suria thought that she heard a hint of sadness in the male's voice as he spoke of his kind- his family. She could only imagine what it would be like to lose the bonds of her Flock. Even though she was not born within it's magnificent walls, and not raised among her close friends, she still called it home. No where else could fill the void that would be made in her soul at losing it. "You are the last of your kind, just as you said. Any mare would be curious enough to get to know you." She spoke, trying to put on a smile for him. "Where you not curious about me? It mustn't be everyday that you meet a Soquili with Claws such as mine?"

He looked her over once again. He had almost forgotten about the talons since he'd been so intent on her face. "Your feathers. Are they actually your mane? Yes I am entirely curious but I don't find the need to be rude and interrogate. I do want to ask questions, you remind me so much of a bird with your feathers, wings and talons." Again he felt the urge to reach forward and lip at one of her mane feathers. "What are you?"

"They are my mane. Would you find it odd if I thought that your mane was different? I'm so used to seeing feathers among my herd, but I suppose that many of the males have hair like you." It was a gene that was only bred in through their slaves. It was still rather had to come by a male harpy that had feathers in the place of hair. "I do not find it rude to ask questions about someone I've just met. I apologize if you think that they are personal, but some of my sisters and I have no issues with speaking of ourselves openly." That, and after she captured him, he'd likely rather push her away than talk with her. Her other male had done the same thing, but they usually accept their fate and come around. "I am what is called by my flock, a Harpy." She said with a smile before continuing. "It's right up ahead, if you are interested in visiting for a short while. You can only imagine how exciting it is to live in it,"
