  Humanity and Earth have wasted away. Cities are overgrown and have crumbled to rubble. The plants are bizarre and there aren't many. The water is poisoned and tainted, with a few hidden springs that are clean and safe to drink.
Mechs, large weaponized robots, roam the lands in and near the cities, and destroy any human life they detect.
The creatures have adapted and multiplied, becoming more dangerous and growing in size. They all usually hunt together, in packs, birds, wolves, spiders. Some have reached a new level of intelligence and everything has created a new way to define the word deadly.
People band together like the animals, securing what supplies they can, and guarding the clean water with their lives.They have guns, modern and futuristic. They have companions, whether it be human or beast. There is hardly any means of medicine besides organic, with fevers and colds now usually resulting in death without proper supplies. Modern medicine has become rare, those that know how to use the land around them are lucky.
The few that choose to go it alone are taking a risk that could, and will, eventually kill them. The many that make groups and gangs must watch their own backs more than their partners'. Everyone really just wants what they want for themselves, and will do absolutely anything and everything to get it.
No one can trust eachother, there's risk of betrayal in every alliance, but the funny thing is that here, you can't survive forever on your own.

Luna woke up with the sun shining in her eyes, a bit too warm for her liking. She'd slept leaning against the trunk of a tree who's boughs didn't do much to counter the sunlight. Across from her a large canine was sleeping, and the girl stood up slowly and stretched. She'd start out like any other day...
First, she'd stay quiet at listen for anything unusual. If the birds were still chirping, she had reason to believe nothing was wrong. By glancing around, she noticed that there wasn't anything suspicious around and the area looked like it had when she'd fallen asleep. No prints anywhere, animal or human, and she could feel the peace. Two of the last things she checked were the water bottle by her left, and the gun to her right.
As for the wolf, the girl patted him between the ears and his eyes blinked open. normally, the animal would be the first awake and he'd be pacing. Lately, though, the pair had been tired. A few run-ins with some unwanted beastly company had kept them awake and at bay, so they hadn't gotten much sleep in the past few days.
"Let's go make our normal rounds, then, if we're both awake.."
Luna mumbled quietly, checking on the gun snug next to her hip once more before walking off into the wood, trailed by a silvery white creature. ¤

Every single time it was peaceful, something bad had to happen sooner of later. And this time, Vanessa was kind of hoping that it wouldn't happen to her yet, until she found some other form of human life.
Winter growled quietly at her, alerting her to a presence nearby. Vanessa looked at her wolf, who was pretty much half her height, and he tipped his nose towards the east, hinting to her that the presence was to the east. She nodded, telling him that she understood, but she wasn't quite in the mood to do anything.
However, Winter nudged her with his nose again, and Vanessa sighed. She walked towards the area that Winter had pointed to, and kept her hand on her blade. Turning around the tree, she noticed another girl and a wolf. She turned back around and waited for them to come around.

Walking out a ways from her sleeping spot, Luna realized she wasn't near her camp. She must've been tired to not bother trekking back to her special spot. That would explain why her waterbottle was only half-full. It'd be full if she was by her spring.
Salu's snout jerked, and his lip curled. He suddenly nudged Luna harshly, and glared over at the trees. His throat was rumbling and the girl felt it vibrating through her as well. The deep noise was like thunder, and his ruff all the way down to his tail was standing on end. His ears reached her shoulder, and his snout was level with her elbows. He was a large varg, and Luna had no idea what was wrong. That is, not until she saw the other white wolf.
Her hand tightened by the gun, not letting on the fact that she had snythimg with her for defence. The large brute by her side was rumbling menacingly, being not too fond of strangers. Especially one hiding in the brush.
