There was something about hot, arid air that could really piss someone off. That, or just Sorano Dinkley wasn't much of a person to give up his sleeping time to train. Unfortunately, with direct orders from a higher up to get his pasty a** out there and do some stable work, he couldn't deny. Even worse, he was given a sparing partner. Who was this person? He knew nothing of them . . . though there was a likely chance he did see him before.

So, as the teal haired squint-eyed man leaned against their chosen vehicle of travel in patience, a certain Flareon yawned by his feet. Nudging him with his foot, the agent watched as the fluffy thing rolled to its back.

"Neva-" he huffed and when the Flareon began to seriously butt wiggle his way across the floor, Sorano saw this only as a reason to pick the damn thing up and have him across his shoulder. This only made him sweat more (Never was like a damn hot press!) but at least he wasn't sleeping uncomfortably.

Mau had no problems what so ever in the heat. He grew up in a region that was almost completely desert, and the coldest it got was around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. So this was a cake walk. Aki was happy to be going somewhere. The Vaporeon was bouncing at Mau's heels as they walked towards the rows of cars.

That's where Mau spotted the man he only knew by reputation. The squinty eyed man. What was his name? Sauron? And why on earth was he wearing a boa... oh, that was just a flareon. Oh good! So maybe this wouldn't be as bad as he thought. "Good morning." He greeted the man as he approached. True to his fashion, he was once again out of uniform. A white long sleeve shirt and khaki pants were his chosen attire for the day. No need for someone to happen upon them, for some reason, and grow suspicious of what 2 men in team rocket uniforms were doing.

"I suppose we're partners for the day." He extended a hand. "Mau." He offered his name.

"Mm, mornin' ta ya." Sorano mused. So he had seen the man before, once or twice when he was horrible victims in the very things known as raids. A hand slithered forward to clasp with his own and give a quick jerk to the heavens and down to the hellish depths. "Tha' names Sorano, Sorano Dinkley." Do you know how cool he feels when he says his name like that? "

Never snorted a bit from the other end without a mouth and it took Sorano all he could to ignore what had just occurred. It wasn't a great way to make first impressions, not when he first met the fella. As his partner looked pretty comfortable in his wear, Sorano truly wasn't. Than again, the pale Saffron civilian didn't have a body for such drastic weather.

Tugging at the rounded collar of his Mareep cotton tee, he looked to the car and knew not what side to take. Who was driving? "Ahh . . . " he sighed. "Ya keen on drivin'? I think I'm gonna pass out if I take tha' wheel."

The edges of Mau's lips curved up a just a fraction at the man's name. "Sorano. It's a pleasure." He shook the man's hand and tried not to react to the flareon's own... way of greeting. Aki, however, was not keen on formalities, and arched his back and rubbed his side against Sorano's leg like an affection seeking cat. When Sorano said he might pass out, the first thought in his mind was that this man was some sort of wimp. Though, if he remembered correctly, he was an agent as well, so maybe he wasn't as inept as first impressions lead to.

"Wouldn't want you crashing and killing us both." When he procured the keys for the car, he opened the back seat. "Aki." The vaporeon huffed. He wanted to ride shotgun! "Either get in the back or get in the ball." The ball was no fun so he hopped into the back seat and flopped down, looking as dejected as he could. Mau ignored it as he climbed in, waiting for Sorano.

Sorano smiled happily to the Vaporeon nudging itself against his leg, even spreading a palm over the affectionate Water type's head in pet. Never, if awake, would have found jealousy to be a heavy trait than. Sorano was his petting slave and did not have the utmost freedom to just touch others on a whim! Well, of course, this would have only been thought if he were awake, which he was most definitely not.

Ascending into the seat of the vehicle, Sorano shifted his Flareon up, over and off his head to the behind seats. With a snort (from the right end this time), Never curled onto the seats in the basking comfort of heat. Wasn't anything like Sorano's room, which consisted of a constant circling array of ice cold wind and a stench similar to aged Magikarp sticks.

"So, where we goin'?" Sorano asked after wiping his temple across the sleeve beside his shoulder. Really, where could they go? All the desert had was billions of gallons of sand. Did it really matter? "Arceus, it's hot . . . "

"We're going to the desert." He replied blandly. "Some place where we won't destroy the base or draw undue attention to ourselves." He shrugged, pulling out to drive into the middle of no where. "You don't like the heat I take it?" If that was the case, why in Arceus' name did he have a flareon that he was wearing like a scarf earlier? "Maybe this will toughen you up some. Never know when you'll have to fight in these kinds of conditions." Though he was a fine one to talk. He hated the cold, and only just recently learned to swim.

Not that Sorano knew this, so it was fair game to tease him, right? "I see you have a flareon. What other pokemon do you have?" It was something to talk about on the drive. At least they weren't going too far. About halfway between the base and the beach. It was as 'middle of nowhere' as they could get. You couldn't see the imposing structure, nor could you feel the sea breeze.

Yes, THIS was the sort of place to toughen up.
