Important Provinces of Scilas
REGION NAME Landscape: A picture of a small portion of the province. Should display the feeling and livelihood of its people. Economy: Flourisihng, moderate, poor, irreparable, ect. ect. Source: of Economy. What trades does this region offer? What is it known best for? State whether or not magic is praised or reviled here. Also state this provinces' views on slavery. At least a four-sentence paragraph. Problems: Every province has a problem that needs dealing with. Describe some of them, why don't you? No place is perfectly safe or healthy, and I want that emphasized. You are never safe, only safer. Write in paragraph form, four sentences at the very minimum. Ruling Family: Who or what rules this region? How did they come to power? At least a paragraph. After all, there is a story behind everything and I want this roleplay to be as well thought out as possible. Creator: Who plays the noble who owns this region? Just a simple username would suffice.
Arkenshire Landscape:
Economy: Poor, slowly recovering. Currently well enough off, but with slavery cut from its ranks of businesses bringing in gold, a serious blow has been dealt to the economy and everybody is feeling it. Source: Arkenshire was once a haven for slavers everywhere, and held the largest market for buying and selling slaves. Elves were the most popular sort of slaves here. Since Dutchess Eivengard has taken her father's place after his assassination, she has found that taming giant spiders and using their silks to make fine clothes can help bring the economy close to what it once was - even if it is slightly dangerous. Then again, spiders are in large abundance - why not put them to use? Spider meat is also a common meal for many of the residents here. Problems: The previous ruler of this region was Duke Eivengard, a proud slave-owner and a very cruel witch. He supported slavery full-heartedly, often using dark magics on them in public for even the smallest offence, since Arkenshire is one of the few regions who tolerate Witches openly. Eivengard's daughter, an innocent and naive girl, was horrified by her father's actions and was quick to change the way things were ran once one of his slaves ended up assassinating him in his sleep. Many of the lesser lords and ladies who served under Eivengard are very unsatisfied with Dutchess Eivengard's whimsical change in laws and policies for this region. Much unrest has settled between the former elvish slaves and the slave owners, often leading to public fighting. This is a serious problem, considering how the taint of this region commonly brings the dead back from the afterlife in ghastly forms to torture and torment the living. Because of this, folks cannot legally bury their dead. They can only burn the corpses and hope for the best for their spirits. Ruling Family: Dutchess Evelyn Eivengard currently rules over Arkenshire. She inheirited the Eivengard keep after her father's assassination, and does her best to keep things going while still not sacrificing her morals and beliefs to make the lords and ladies of Arkenshire happy. Because of this, she isn't too popular with the lesser nobility and her authority is often questioned. If it wasn't for her truce with the Witch Hunters and her skill with taming spiders to keep herself safe, she would've long since been assassinated - although it isn't like anyone hasn't tried. Sahren Landscape:
Economy: Flourisihng Source: Mining is the traditional means for earning your pay in Sahren, especially since beneath the valued city of Halrah lays the Thousand Tunnels. The Thousand Tunnels is an extrodinary group of mines which hold numerous ammounts of valuable ores. Most metals obtained for the other provinces come from Halrah, Sahren. Because of which, if you are not the mining sort, blacksmithing is also a great way to make money and make excellent trading connections in the other provinces. Because of these main economic factors, arm strength and stamina are very highly valued in Sahren. Recently, slavery has also become an economic bonus - as well as a convenient way to dispose of political enemies of the duke and criminals undeserving of the death penalty. Problems: Sahren is a desert, and because of such, water is difficult to come by. Not only that, but food is often scarce. The only reason why Sahren survives is because of strong trade relations with farmers in the other provinces, supplying the rare metals mined and forged for vegetables and meats as well as precious water. It is also suspected that a cannibalism epidemic has arisen among the poorer castes. Ruling Family: - For Whoever Claims to Decide - Creator: Animeprincess_9400, ruled by ___________

The Blight of the Scilians
In this world, there is no peace. There is no true order, only open chaos and the entropy we all hide beside the skeletons in our closets. This is especially true of the many city-states that come together to form Scilas. The High Queen and the Seven Dukes that serve under her are under heavy disagreement concerning traditional values and the revolutionary ideals that Dutchess Evelyn brings forth, causing much distrust and uncivil conflict between the eight individuals and their families.
Among the many issues that they quarrel about, slavery and magic have made themselves to be prominent problems time and time again. The peasants these days will no longer be pacified by blatant lies and worthless promises. The rise of witches, those who use magic and have been noticed for doing such in the public, has become both a dangerous threat and a polarizing moral issue. Before, the Witch-Hunters' Guild, which is ruled by the High Queen and her Dukes, would simply execute peasants and disgraced nobles who used magic and were caught doing so. But now, people are starting to ask questions. Dangerous questions, especially considering the fact that the High Queen and her Dukes do not want the common masses to learn that they are ruled over by Eight of the very witches they so fear.
Rumors are leaking out, though, enraging many of the Witch extremists that litter the eight provinces. They want the normal folk removed from power, the Queen and her Dukes brutally executed for their crimes against those who share their gift but not their nobility, and they want the Witch-Hunters' guild disbanded and destroyed - not honored and revered by the masses as they are now. With the power that the Eight hold and how each branch of the Witch-Hunters' guild serve them like the little "lap dogs" they are, this isn't likely to happen without anything short of a bloody revolution.
To add to the large tension that Scilians currently hold, slavery is being questioned by many - now quite the polarizing issue. At least two of the Dukes' provinces have banned slavery, Arkenshire being the first to start this trend. For a land that has valued such a trade for so long, this is most unheard of - and frightening for those who deal in slavery everywhere in Scilas. Elvish slaves and the descendants of such, who were brought from lands outside of Scilas such as Elthanrial and Dumiras, have begun to fight back against their slavers and flee the lands - or at least flee to an anti-slaver province such as Arkenshire.
With all that is going on, Scilians are going through difficult times indeed. Who are you and how do you survive? Are you a Duke or Dutchess, squabbling with the rest under the High Queen's rule? Are you a lesser Lord or Lady who serves under one of the Dukes? A Witch or Witch Hunter? Or even a Slave or Slaver? With so much conflict, how could you not join in and see for yourself?

Culture and Religion
Altara According to the Temple of Altara, the most prominent of the religions amongst the Scilians, the world was brought forth by the Great Mother Altara. Altara is a gentle spirit who created the world to ease her loneliness, and so that she could have many children to love. Instead of being obedient, however, the people defied her - bringing war and hatred into this world. This made the gentle Altara grieve tremendously for the innocence this world once held, making her turn away from them all so that they may suffer the fate they bring upon themselves. It is said that those who are truly obedient to Altara, those who are truly righteous and innocent, shall return to her side once more in death. Altarians highly value purity, human sovereignity, and being obedient to the laws and social casts that have already been set. Needless to say, such value in obedience for ones' betters in the Alterian religion has been used as an excuse for slavery and witch hunting time and time again.
The Elder Spirits The nature-loving elves of Elthanrial worship three spirits of the elements and a fourth spirit, giving them thanks to the resources they hold and for the freedom they are rightly entitled to by birth. According to the Elthanrians, the three Elder Spirits are Kharanan of the Wind, Selvetia of the Earth, and Marthaian of the Water. The traitorous fourth and ruler of the dead is Azharal of the Fire. To Elthanrians, these four spirits bless them daily - and their gifts should not be squandered. Violence is never accepted for any reason by those who follow the spirits, no matter the cause or justification that may be given. Those who abandon such pacifism are labled as the Vagrant Children of Azharal.
H'atharil The elves who were stolen from Dumiras are a much more violent people, and because of such, they worship a very violent god called H'atharil. In the eyes of those who worship H'atharil, only the strong deserve to live and the weak must serve beneath the strong. Murder is not considered a sin for H'atharil worshippers, but disloyalty - for unusual reasons unknown to most - is. Because of such, unlike the marriages you might find in the Temple of Altara or the lack of marriages in Elthanrial, Dumirians who marry never go astray - and it is considered a right to slay an unfaithful partner. Needless to say, Dumirans do not take kindly to being enslaved - and are most often used as fighting slaves for the arenas or as personal bodyguards for the more daring Nobles.
------------
Races of Scilas No matter which province you go to, humans are the ruling majority. If you are an elf, you or someone before you in your lineage was stolen from your home country and sold into slavery by the Scilian government centuries ago. Dwarves do not live in Scilas, period, and only rarely come here for trade. Otherwise, no magical creatures tend to venture anywhere near Scilas. If they do, they are extremely rare and valued slaves or pets possessed by one of the Eight.
"I Will Obey" These three words form the most commonly known and simple of the Altarian prayers. These words are meant to be a promise to obey the goddess Altara, should she forgive them and allow them to be at her side once more.
"V'elanan I'iltalen" An Elthanrian phrase that means, "Spirits Bless You". This is the Elthanrian equivalent to "I Will Obey", at least as far as religious value goes. The phrase is generally used in polite company and as a hopeful blessing to loved ones.
"Kadasa data H'atharil" A Dumirian phrase that means, "You hold the strength of H'atharil". It is a phrase used to honor your betters, or to honor those who have defeated you in combat. It has a lesser known use as a blessing for one's spouse before leaving for an extended period of time.
Gender Equality Men and women are generally regarded as equals in every province, although there is never a High King - only a High Queen. If the High Queen should marry, chances are, her husband would either be a Duke or an unnamed lover.
Marriage Altarian marriages are generally only political, or for the good of the family. Love is often told of in Altarian stories and is spoken highly of, although actual love forming in higher marriages is most uncommon. Nobody cares if you have an affair so long as it isn't brought to public attention. Otherwise, you will be publicly disgraced. Wedding ceremonies for Altarians tend to be most extravagant.
Elthanrians do not marry. They may have as many lovers as they wish, and believe that vows are not needed - since actions speak louder than words or promises.
Dumirian marriages are unlike Altarians, since they are far more exclusive and far less formal. To Dumirians, a marriage is simply a promise made by two individuals to always remain loyal to one another as both mates and allies. If one is weak, the other shall make up for it with their own strength. To betray such a promise is considered to be one of the highest of sins, and well deserving of death. This is surprising to many Scilians who learn of this, since Dumirians are known as a very violent people and are steriotypically barbaric.

Special Notes
1. Creativity and Literacy is demanded if you join. You will not use a character from a previously established series. You will also not give poor, script style posts that are less than three sentences per post. Your posts must be in third person and must also be written like what you would find in a book. I do not expect an entire book's content in every post, nor do I want that much, I just want quality writing.
2. Remain accurate to the cultural notes given. There shall be no direct allusion to any real life religions, no "Angels" or "Demons" either. If anything, there shall only be Avians and Monsters in place of the "Angels" and "Demons". Despite this, I do not want many non-human characters unless they are slaves or ex-slaves. A dwarvish trader might be considered, but otherwise, human only.
3. Not all humans can use magic. Most cannot, in fact. Most who can are either descendants of nobles somewhere along the lines or descendants of Elthanrian elves. Many of which have long forgotten their ancestry or where their magic came from. Most just don't care. Dumirian elves cannot use magic.
4. As for any other roleplay of mine, there will be no cybering. I understand if the topic of sex comes along, but if characters actually engage in such actions, timeskip or take it to the PM's. I would preffer it if you just timeskipped, though.
5. Do not kill of another person's character without their and my permission. Death is a necessary tool at times, I understand, but don't be a flying p***k about it. By the way, GODMODDING and AUTOHITTING count as being a flying p***k too. So don't do it.
6. No fighting in OOC. Your characters may battle all they wish, but I refuse to tolerate it outside of roleplay boundaries.
7. PM all profiles to me with the province they start in. If you are claiming a Duke or the High Queen and are sending in information about the province you create, simply entitle it with whichever name you gave your province.
8. Don't bother joining if you are not going to be active.
WE STILL NEED:
Two(or more) Dukes/the High Queen AT LEAST Leader of Witch-Hunters Two Witch Hunters AT LEAST Two Witches AT LEAST A Few Slavers A Few Slaves/Ex-Slaves
*Hopefully* Characters involved in certain backstories. I have one planned for Evelyn, and if you would like to be a part of it, please PM me. This is not mandatory to start, although I'd greatly appreciate it - especially for the twists I have planned for her in the future.

The Nobility
Username: Animeprincess_9400 Name: Evelyn Eivengard Gender: Female Race: Human Faction: Neutral /// Anti-Slavery Age: Thirty-Three Social Status: Dutchess of Arkenshire Bio: Evelyn is the eldest child of the previous Duke of Arkenshire, and was by far the favorite. She was sheltered from the very start, never allowed to attend parties or leave the Eivengard keep for long without heavy supervision. Due to such sheltering, and a bit of stubborness she had gotten from her father, discovering how the slaves were treated was a life-changing experience for her - especially since she was merely ten years old at the time. The very elvish children she played with would be brutally beaten, even used in dark sacrificial ceremonies if they made even the smallest of mistakes on a bad day. She knew it wasn't right, so she did everything in her power to make things better for them. After her father's death and the appropriate time of mourning, she took his place as the Duke of Arkenshire and tried to change things for the better as best as she could. Evelyn tries to rule with kindness and sympathy over the region and never lets money sway her, which has not necessarilly made her very popular with her fellow noblemen. Some say that she is not fit to be a Dutchess, due to her mercy and blatant disregard for money or traditional values. Even more find her rule to be unfavorable due to the fact that she has abandoned the ways of Altara to study the ways of the elves. Motivation: After seeing one of her childhood friends badly beaten for dropping a plate by her father, Evelyn has greatly questioned the meaning of the steep traditions that plague Scilas. She does not take sides other than financial support for the Witch-Hunters for numerous reasons, though most of which involve the fact that she cannot help but see flaws in both factions. It is rumored that the only reason she even funds the Witch-Hunters and tries to keep good relations with them is because she has certain loved ones within the order. Themesong: Love Eternal Other: Evelyn studies the cultures of the elves in her spare time when she is not with her spiders. The Dumirian Elves' colture interests her the most in particular. The Witch Hunters
Username: Animeprincess_9400 Name: Litha Gender: Female Race: Half-Human/Half-Elf Faction: Witch Hunter /// Neutral Age: Seventeen Social Status: Witch Hunter Bio: When Litha was merely eight, it was demanded by authorities that she be tested for magical talent - due to her unique lineage. When it was discovered that she held no magic, her mother was given a choice - sell her into slavery and pretend that she was never born or ensure that she would be of use despite being a half-breed. With much grief, Litha's mother chose to offer her to the Witch Hunters instead of the more dreadful alternative - slavery for some unknown and unforgiving master. Litha has not seen her mother since joining the Witch Hunters, but writes to her when she can on the days she has off. Litha does not care for the squabbles between slavers and slave-lovers, but has a deep hatred from magic which was sewn in since her early years - years before she was taken by the Guild itself. She can be quite unreasonable and stubborn at times, which can lead to catastrophe for some who are framed for the crime of possessing magic. Motivation: Before Litha joined the order, the only witch she had come to know was a complete monster. He frightened her, and helped to forever color her views on magic and those who use it. After being sent away to become a Witch Hunter, her fears and prejudices were only reinforced by the teachings of her peers. Themesong: Sanctuary of Shadows Other: Litha's ears are mostly round, like a human's, but with the slightest point at the upper edge. Were it not for her slender build and short stature, most would never be able to tell that her ears hinted at a mixed heritage. She tends to wear a long, black hooded cloak with crimson runes embroidered at the edges while on official Witch Hunter business, since she would rather not have her blood hinder her duties. The Commoners
Username: Mad Haru Name: Hyacinth Gender: Male Race: Elf Faction: Neutral /// Anti-Slave Age: 19 Social Status: Ex-Slave Bio: Hyacinth was raised in captivity, which is decidedly not a thing one wants to be described as. He was 'raised' or perhaps 'mentored' by an old elven man, who taught him to worship H'atharil. Motivation: After the old man was killed needlessly outside of battle, Hyacinth (in his rage) avenged the old man and escaped, stealing armor and weaponry, and vowing to free all slaves in Scilas. Themesong: The Final Countdown- Europe Other: Appearance:
Username: Mad Haru Name: Glon Lombard Gender: Male Race: Dwarf Faction: Neutral /// Neutral Age: 46 Social Status: Commoner Bio: A merchant-scholar who has been led horrendously off course, Glon Lombard, always the pragmatist, is working on a travel journal of Scilas for his countrymen. Motivation: Glon's sole motivations are profit and curiosity. Themesong: Other: Appearance:
