Matthew 6:1-18

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

“So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

“And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.

“So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

“Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.

‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

‘Give us this day our daily bread.

‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]

“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

“But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

“Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

“But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face

so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

One way I have seen ninjas portrayed in media, I think, is very useful for the Christian. The kind of ninja I am referring to in particular is the one that is loyal to his lord. He carries out his task without question and sets himself to accomplish that task, even if it means death in doing so. He remains hidden, unseen, even taking an alias or going without a name: names do not matter for him. What matters to him is accomplishing the will of his lord.

He is a weapon, an instrument to be used by his lord as his lord sees fit. His actions will never be known by others, whatever he does will not gain him fame or reputation from others because it is done in secret: only his lord knows what he is doing. It is all about his lord, that is the focus of everything.

Why can't we be this way with the Lord Jesus Christ, who is not like a lord on this earth whose name will only perish, but instead His name will stand forever? Do men seeking for the glory of men upstage us who seek glory for God? Can't we give equal?

I've liked ninjas for awhile, so I guess this stuff kinda stood out to me, when I saw the verses I showed here. If any of it was helpful at all? Thank God. What do you or I have that we haven't first received from Him? If I made any point that was true, He showed me first.

Have you heard of Lecrae?

Yeah, I've heard of him before. It may have been from your profile, or maybe some place, but I have heard of him before. I don't know if I had heard him before you sent this, but I listened to the songs you sent. I had a hard time understanding what he was saying. I can't find any videos with lyrics. I was also trying to look up lyrics for the first song you sent, on Google, but it seemed like the song title didn't show up, just the album.

Y'know, if you'd like? You can post up a Thread for him in the Christian Music section. That way, anyone else who goes looking through here can check him out. Plus, if you're willing to? You could even post up his lyrics, to the best of your knowledge, for anyone who may not understand what he's saying. It seems to me that usually, if I follow a song along with the lyrics? I can start picking out what's being said if I listen to it any other time, without them.
