I'm sure we've all been keeping up on the biggest news event the world has seen since... well, I guess Cairo wasn't that long ago, but before that there was a long dry spe... Well, I guess the Koreas bombing each other wasn't long before that either.

Okay, so the world is apparently going to Hell in a hand basket, but since I do live in Japan, this hits a bit closer to home for me. I recently returned from an operation in Thailand, had enough time to get sent to a Sec+ class and get certified (yay me!), and as soon as I'm about to get back to my everyday life, something big happens.

And I know this may seem tacky, but I encourage everyone here to help out and donate to any known legit charities that may be out there (watch out for the profiteers who say they're giving money to the cause but are keeping it instead). I mention this because it IS relevant to our group, in that it will make my job easier. My unit has been tasked with humanitarian aid on the mainland of Japan. I don't know when I'll be leaving, but probably anywhere from tomorrow to Thursday of this week, and I also have no idea how long I'll be staying. All we can do is hope the worst is over and provide relief to those who need it.

So please wish me luck, and if you can find it in the depths of your infested hearts (no offense intended of course), please also do what you can to help one of our closest allies in this already uncertain modern world.

I was contemplating giving something to the gaia fund. Do you know if that's legit?

I wasn't aware Gaia Online was sponsoring a fund of its own... But knowing the company, I would bet my left nut that it's legit. Yeah sure, the Gaia moderators are all ******** up, but the owners/creators are good people.

Damn, just tried to use that link to give fifty bucks, and my Navy Federal card won't let me buy anything online now apparently. ******** me, right? I'm definitely gonna have some words with this bank of mine.

My unit was cleaning debris at an elementary school today and one of our guys uncovered a half-buried body in the baseball field. I don't really know any other specifics, because he (correctly) grabbed one of the local Japanese Defense Force soldiers and they kept us away until they could excavate it. They have extreme respect for the dead in this country.

Still though, ********... Glad it wasn't me who stumbled onto it.
