I am sure that there are lingual mistakes, please do point them out to me, my book is a little foggy on poetic language.

Caged Lark of London

Watch the beautiful lark sing,
and behold her enchanting voice.
See how the light caresses
the ivory velvet of her skin.

Watch as she flits across midnight meadows,
and listen for her wings to open.
Soar high above with her,
as she wears the moon around her neck.

Scream for the beautiful lark,
as the cage ensares her.
Weep as those sweeping wings are crushed,
beneath lengthening bars of sorrow.

Stay beneath her windowsill,
and beg for the silent lark
to bless you with her enchanting voice.
The silence is tortured,
as the lark wills herself to be free...

...I clutch these bars of glass,
and watch the finches sing.
The stars tempt my wings to grow,
but they are useless now.

I am the caged lark of London,
who's father spills blood for her voice.

I wrote this, the first time in a while, for my amusement. It is inspired by Sweeney Todd.

Midnight Hour

I saw her walking there among the gravestones.
Clutching thirteen dead roses
To her cold chest.
I wandered out to meet her
With the slightest tip of my hat.

“Is there anything I can do for you Ma’dam,
Is there any way I can ease the pain?”

“No, no, no you good kind sir,
The time for that has long since gone.”

Right on past she walked
Her feet making no sound at all.
I shuffled on among the headstones
Hoping to catch sight of her again.

Long the night grew,
As I looked to where the maiden left.
Was she a ghost or was she elusive?
My worn and weary mind could not tell.

Small ribbons of moonlight bloomed
Upon my small steed’s head.
Sitting upon his thin back
Was the fair maiden I was searching for.

“Oh please sir you mustn’t go,
My heart has grown heavy with despair.
Stay with me to keep away the loneliness if you will.”

“Oh fair maiden I must now depart,
I have a thousand duties to perform.
I promise to thee you shall see me again,”

With a small sigh she left,
Touching my shoulder with ease as she went.
Her chilling fingertips stilled me,
And I was tempted to stay as she wished.

Thrice more I came to her,
Meeting her among the graves.
Slowly I found love for her,
And she found some for me.

“Dearest you mustn’t leave now,
But stay with me forever.”

“If there was a way my love,
You know that I would be compliant.
But you know as well as I,
There are things to be done.”

A horrifying scene then transpired,
The purity of the moonbeams melting
To pools of blood upon the ground
And I fell trembling before the maiden,
Who’s pale eyes came to darkness.

“Forever should you be chained with me,
And forever shall you live my pains.

“For too long I was neglected,
For too long I was alone.

“For too long I had nothing but dirt
And worms and beetles to keep me company.

“For too long I have felt the cold of death,
For too long I have envied life.”

Time stood still as my blood fell,
And I was pulled into her world.
Fire burned away my flesh,
My skin and bones and my heart too.

Lakes of ice received me,
And fish with a hundred eyes devoured me.
Teeth ripped into my soul,
And my eyes watched my bloody corpse rot.
